Celine was beaten, abused and broken. Abandoned by her mother and forced into being exploited for money, she winds up in an industrial school. Throughout this experience, she wishes to make contact with her mother, but is not prepared for what will come next.

After reading this book I look at my own life as a walk in the park. Throughout this entire book one question kept popping into my head, how much pain and suffering can one human heart endure?
This book makes me so angry. As a mother I can't imagine anything more important than ones children. I'll never understand how a mother could close her heart to her own child.
This book is a testament to human courage and strength.

WOW I cannot belieave that this little girl was made to endure all the things she had to go through, this is a very sad story that will grip the heart of its readers so compelling and very shocking at times but I am happy she was able to regain some diginity later on in adulthood. Life can be so unfair sometimes .

It is really hard to fully process the events and experiences that Celine went through, a great book that gives you a little bit of perspective which forces you to be truly grateful for the little things (and big ones). I became just as invested as her in the search for answers and reasons. I really recommend this book.

Done with this book after 2 weeks plus. Started end of August quite a nice book to read, based on true story how a small girl had a tough life , grew up with a foster parents, feeling unwanted , being rape at the age of 7, become a kid prostitute until she was 12.

How she struggled in her entire life, until she become a nurse and getting married, had her own child, and she lost her second son for brain cancer, she herself was a cancer survival

How she found her real parents, and feel ignorance, unaccepted by her own parents, for all the things happend to her make her stronger in and out, until she become who she is today

I cried reading this book. I cried lots. What a dreadful life Celine Roberts endured (you can't call it living) as a child. Harrowing to read but at times happy. How much pain can any one person handle int heir life without falling apart? To come through & not only survive, but make something of herself to be proud of & to hold her high, I salute her. A must read but keep the tissues close!

Cannot describe the feelings I felt for this poor woman! I truly wish that it was a made up story, that actually she grew up happy with friends and what most people take for granted... A family!
I admire her for telling her story and for getting on with her life even when she was told the impossible wouldn't happen, it did! She had two children and an education that she achieved herself!
This book was so well written I really did not want to put it down! This is a story that will probably stick with me forever... Thankyou

It offers a new view for me into something - child prostitution. Good details at the beginning, however as she moves on with her life, the details became lesser and it doesn't make me feel like I'm a part of her life anymore. It feels like she's 'blogging' rather than writing about her life & recounting it to us. I don't feel the same intensity of emotions anymore too. That's a pity for the book, because it went up, and came down like a curve.

This book was heartbreaking! I felt such empathy towards Celine and her horrible situation as a child. She didn't know any better and she suffered such neglect due to the horrible foster parents that took her in! Even though she didn't have kind of upbringing she deserved, she still was able to achieve her dreams of becoming a nurse, a mother, and the writer of this book.

Poor Girl. Her Foster Mother should have been shot for the treatment she gave her. And her Real Mother should have been shot to for treating her the way she did and the way she lied to everyone. It's amazing Celine can out alive.

Very sad story.
It is terrible what she has been through. Sexually abused on her first holy communion. It really got to me because it was true story. But I am happy for her at the end she persevered and became someone.
