Laxmi is a New York Times bestselling author of paranormal and contemporary romance. Her books have been featured in USA Today Happily Ever After and the Guardian, among others. PS: She insists that you call her Lax!
This is supposed to be a prequel for the next book, but it really wasn’t very good so I definitely won’t be reading the next one. This was pretty much just sex, which I am ALL for, but some of the sex scenes were super cringy to me! Also, there was SOOOOOOOO much internal monologue. Even during the sex scenes! It completely took away from heat of the moment in my opinion! I thought there was also a lot of repetition of the internal monologue. Both H and h kept repeating the same things in their heads, over and over and over again. BORING! 🥱
Having found this one on bookfunnel,i thought it interesting. When i started reading,i found it was a short read,a prequel to the actual series. No problem there,as a prequel it had enough information to get started,but... I didn’t feel a connection to the characters,it was more of an introduction to the situation than anything else.
Zeus is the son of general Golan, who never acknowledged him. Old and strong enough,he takes his father’s life. And takes over as general. He has vivid dreams of an omega, and it seems the omega in question has vivid dreams of him too.... She is a world away, but decides to leave when her father wants to hand her over to his enemy in exchange for his life.
This was...meh. I really just couldn't get into it. I try not to judge prequel stories too harshly though. Maybe I would have liked it more if I had read book 1 first and had some more information about, well…everything. I didn't hate it, and since the series is on KU, I'll probably give it another try eventually.
This is so bad I don't know where to start. The writing and vocabulary of the author is so limited that you read the same phrase over 16 times in one chapter. You have no idea how the characters end up in places. They just suddenly appear. There is no sense of time. Mainly the main male character is a dirty murdering barbarian without redeeming qualities. The MFC, I couldn't even tell you her NAME by the end of the book but she gets so turned on she looks like she pissed herself. The whole book is like 3 chapters. Really bad.
This is more like a preview, so short it's almost the first chapter of a real book. The story seems interesting, but I appreciate it more if it's presented as a complete deal and not as an introduction...Marketing strategics.
This one was free so it's ok, but had I paid for it, I would be really pissed. You'll find here all the elements typical of the omegaverse (knots, slick, purrs and growls, alphas, betas and omegas), a dystopian world that is not clearly described (well, not much can be described in a few pages). At least the writing was clear and fluid...
I'd continue to read on this series but if there's a minimum number of pages, otherwise you end up paying dearly for what sums up to a couple of chapters in every installment. Not fair for the readers. It's also not possible to develop characters or world-building, so the result is poor unless what you want is plain smut without anything else; it's got to be exceptional smut, then.
When I downloaded this on my Kindle, it’s advertised as Book 1 but it looks like it may actually be the prequel? With that being said….
While I usually like fast paced books, this one hit the ground running a little too hard for me and I felt like I needed to play A LOT of catch up…but I couldn’t because the story just kept going and adding more info that I have no clue where it came from.
The writing didn’t do it for me. It is SO repetitive. I personally feel a character should only have to say “Nope, not ego, just facts” once (or not at all lol). The male MC called everyone “the fucker” every five seconds. The same 4 phrases are used over and over and over.
And then it stopped in the middle and jumped to another book? But I didn’t realize that had happened until it jumped to a THIRD, unrelated book.
Holy cow, I was not expecting this story when I started it. There was a level and depth that was truly unexpected. There is a lot at play here and I look forward to where the author is intending to go next.
Short and to the point of how Zeus came to power. This read is not as long as you think it stops about 60% into the number of pages into the book and starts with an excerpt into the next book. I have to admit I feel really cheated when that occurs! I may start reflecting that in my ratings from here on out. I am expecting a full length novel not a longish short story with an abrupt ending. Makes me feel like I am paying for advertisements for the next novels!
#My 1st by these authors & I'm so excited for more!
I got this book free as the newsletter subscriber & the blurb sounded interesting so I gave a Go for it. I'm happy I gave it a chance, I'm hooked to this series!
This book is a short 50 pages prequel to the series. A world building for Zeus & Lucy's trilogy.
Fierce Climate change had changed human genetics, making 3 sub species- Alpha, the predator & protector. Omega, the nurturer. Beta, in b/w the other two..
It describes how Zeus became the general in dyspotian London & Why Lucy and Her sis-Chloe had to run off from their home.
Zeus & Lucy seem to be connected with their dreams. I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll met, Both are stubborn as hell😍
I'm off to following their journey in the 1st book of this series❤
Unusual...I'm not even sure if these characters are shifters!
There's no doubt about the alpha--Zeus is definitely alpha (probably the most alpha I've read in a long time) and Lucia is the *sigh* omega. This short novella is one extended sex scene complete with foreplay. The plot, and I’m being generous, is pretty thin; just sex, sex, and more sex all while trying to fight the pull to one another in the most repetitive dialogue ever!
Imagine storming a stronghold to kill someone and winding up becoming their sex slave? Intrigued me enough to continue to Taken by the Alpha on Kindle Unlimited.
On m Were Scale of Hotness--I think-not sure these are shifters, 2.5 stars.
I absolutely loved this book and was honored to have been able to read and review. It was such a phenomenal read and had amazing characters as well as an amazing story line. I just could not get enough of it and once I started reading it I could not put it down. I recommend that you read it.
Wanted by the Alpha - Knotted series Book 1 – Laxmi Hariharan Sassy slave Omega collides with Dominant Alpha in an Omegaverse that is dark and erotic! This one will have you holding your beath for the next book! 18+ for super steamy scenes! Four stars!
I think being generous, I'd give 2.5 stars. The writing is so-so. The overly descriptive fight scenes and the males always putting their fists up, drumming their fingers on their chests (what?), and thumping their chest is ver strange. Also, I'm not sure the author has seen men or anyone fight before. The inner monologues, I I I then I, were a bit much and the flow was a bit weird. Like from one sentence of dialogue to the next people's opinions or thoughts seemed to change? The smut was getting there, I like that it got a bit taboo before he killed his dad, that was weird and worthy. It has potential, so I will read the next one...hesitantly.

I didn’t realize this was a prequel and now I’m mad because I got into it 😂 It was entertaining. I was hooked right away. Interesting storyline and I’m ready for the first full book of the series.
I’ve got to say… I’m absolutely intrigued by how this story played out and I’m very much considering continuing it. To have so much passion and chemistry between the two of them and they’ve never even met is not something I’ve read before. I’m also kind of loving this storyline in the background between these alpha leaders and the drama unfolding there. I mean who doesn’t love a good rivalry right?
This book is the prequel to the Knotted Omega series. It is written under Laxmi Hariharan’s pen name, Scarlette Brooke, where she writes dark romance. The story is set in a brutal, barbaric, violent, harsh, cruel world where there are alphas, omegas and betas and they all have a place in the world.
I did not like Zeus very much with his language and brutal personality. He may yet have a kinder side and obviously has family issues, and hopefully this will be covered more in the first book, however he lives in a harsh world and he needs to be brutal to survive.
I felt sorry for the female omegas who have heat cycles, are rutted and knotted in order to increase their chance of breeding. We are only briefly introduced to the main female, the omega princess Lucy and she states that she is not submissive, a fighter, independent, strong and relys on herself. She may have foresight and wants the ability to choose, but is also an omega so bound to the heat cycle and being ‘rutted’ and bred. Hopefully we see more of this personality and she gives Zeus a bit of a fight and gets to choose, but you get the feeling by the end of the book that it is destined. We will see…
It was a well written book, different world and characters, but maybe a bit ‘dark’ for me and didn’t really like the cover art much. A bit too much sex for me as well (one chapter was enough). I think I like her paranormal romance Dragon Protectors series the best. It still has the Laxmi signature in the writing style (character conversation, smells etc…) and there is also potential for plot development with Zeus brother and Kayden and interested to know more about the world Laxmi has built and how it came to be. I like a strong heroine and not really a fan of omegas. I guess I will see what the next book brings. You are also introduced to potentially other characters for the rest of series including Luke, Mirela, Chloe and Kayden. I voluntarily reviewed this book for an honest review.
This is a very short prequel and despite the blurb, the two MC's of the actual start of the series do not meet in this book. It sets up some world building but I think most of that is going to be reiterated in the first book.
