A lovely book! So encouraging for the less-than professional gardener, and even for us duffers. I spent a happy morning gazing out at my yard, thinking of various schemes, as offered up in the book, to change it into a lovely garden. And perhaps I shall. I could tear out that hideous red climbing rose, replace it with a Cecil Bruner and plant alliums all round. I didn't know alliums did well around roses, did you? And then there's pyracanthas all round, but perhaps interspersed with ceanothus? I'll have to check that out.
