I read this book as a new J. C. Leyendecker fan, knowing only that he was a gay painter who worked on many iconic magazine covers and in advertising. This book was just what I needed-- it gave a quick, clear look into his life, providing all the details we know (which aren't many) from as many sources as possible. And, simultaneously, it was entertaining. I read the entire book in one night, and marked half the pages with Post-Its so that I'd remember to come back and look at the gorgeous artwork again.
Half biography, half gallery, this book is an immersive read and good for any night you want to relax and learn a little something new.
I believe there are recent books with a greater gallery and more analysis on Leyendecker but you can find his major works and more in this book. It's a good coffee table book.
