A Life-Changing Book

This teaches you how to trigger flow states of total absorption, where there’s no fear and no separation between the self and the external world. These intense periods of flow will raise performance, but also provide unforgettable experiences of feeling intensely alive. Combining testimonies from athletes and adventurers competing in fields as varied as surfing, football, extreme sports and world championship chess, the process of struggle, absorption, flow and release is easily applicable to everyone’s life. This will help you harness the power of stress and turn it to your advantage.

The author presents an interesting perspective of cultivating a mindset that supports peak performance. I found the numerous examples presented throughout the book validating and insightful. The author also does a great job of connecting with the reader on different normal human instances, such as losing track of time. Meeting the reader where they are empowers them to start building strategies to achieve the mindset. I enjoyed this book and will apply some of the concepts presented.

I enjoyed this from the first paragraph

I am not an athlete, but I am very interested in flow and I find learning about it through an athletic lens helps me apply the information to my own activities and context. This book is very well done, and I found the author’s “voice” enjoyable and engaging.
