Stalker Alphas #1

Alpha Inmate

Rate this book
Ellie knew it was a bad idea.
She took the job to prove a point—that she’s more than an Omega haunted by her past.
That she can find the good in the worst monsters the world has to offer.
But by the time she’s face-to-face with the deadliest Alpha, it’s too late.
He’s more beast than man and too intelligent to be trapped behind bars for long.
She’s become his new obsession.
And if he tries to catch her…
She just might let him.

Alpha Inmate is a dark love story with a twisted Alpha and a stubborn Omega too smart for her own good. HEA guaranteed, even if they struggle to get there.

4 Gonna Breed You Baby Stars ⭐

When Ellie pushed to accept a temporary position at Green Woods Correctional facility, she didn’t think being an Omega would be a hindrance in working with Betas. Complete fuck up, since she should’ve read the job description a little more clearly. Hence getting stuck trying to rehabilitate an Alpha murderer.

“You smelled like sunshine and honey. Baby, you smelled like fucking salvation.”

It’s been three years of being locked up with no date of ever see sunlight again. In fact, Erik has no desire to until he gets a whiff of Ellie’s scent and its game over. Erik has been underestimated for too long and now that he has an incentive in the form of his fated mate, he can be very creative as an inmate in maximum security!

This was naughty and completely satisfying to read. I love depraved romances with a dash of sweet. Where Erik was the perfect dominant Alpha, Ellie just couldn’t resist his influence. And when Ellie happens to go into heat during her employment, well I couldn’t wait for all the rules to be broken…

I’ll mate you tonight.
“I choose you, Erik,” she murmurs. “I want it to be you.”
“It’ll trigger your Heat, sweetheart. And my Rut.” But he’s not arguing. Instead, he flashes her a wolfish grin. “You want to fuck this hotel room up? It’s going to be violent, baby.

It was touch and go there for a moment. I knew immediately that I would love the premise of this story, however stories written in third person feel strange to me. I don’t care that this book wasn’t perfect. It’s one of those dirty stories that you need to succumb to and get off on!!

Look at me, dipping my toes in the omegaverse for the first time. I must admit the slickness of it all made an impression on me💀

Who said anything about loving it? Surely not me… right? 🤭

This book had me pulling my hair out at how ridiculous it was. So, instead of a normal review, here’s what I actually said out loud as I was reading this book. You’ll get the entire premise of the story without actually having to read it. Enjoy!

And it’s wrong to want to touch her like this when she can’t resist.

Me: “Yes, so let’s not kiss the young woman who is physically incapable of consenting right now.”

She glares at him with a look of horror and betrayal, her features eventually fading to sadness. But she doesn’t stand up and leave, nor does she yell at him. Instead, she sighs, then looks back at him, resigned.

Me: “WE JUST TALKED ABOUT HOW IMMORAL IT IS TO ABUSE ALPHA INFLUENCE! We all agreed, Ellie! Including you! Why the hell are you just giving the man what he wants after that?!?!

“We’re famous, baby,” he says, handing her his phone. “They think I abducted you.”

Me: “Yes, because the rest of the universe understood what was going on when you drugged and kidnapped her.”

She looks at the man who liberated her, who did everything he could for her, and smiles.

Me: “Liberated?!? Liberated you from what? We literally established that he kidnapped you five sentences ago!”

But no, it’s just her, coming alive after being liberated from the ghosts of her past. She’s finally free.

Me: “I think you’re far too ‘liberated’ with your understanding of your situation, sweetheart.”

His knot inflates in her throat. It should be horrifying, but it only spurs her on…

Me: *Starts debating if I should just never touch an Omegaverse book again*

“It’s about what you want.” Unless you want to leave me, is the unspoken threat.

Me: “Yes, Erik. We got that the first 50 times the threat WENT said.”

“I don’t need to finish the rest of the story.” “No, you don’t,” she says quietly. “But I’ve already forgiven you.”

Me: “I’ve absolutely seen this book roasted on Booktok before because of this exact quote. This is what I get for not paying attention to book titles”

“My mom would have liked you,” she says suddenly. “But I think my sister would have tried to beat you up.”

Me: “Of course the only character with any sense in the entire story is dead.”

They’re two broken people, but together, they heal.

Me: “Why didn’t I stop reading an hour ago?”

3.5 Smutty Omegaverse
This was a little like an omegaverse, smutty version of Trisha Wolfe’s Born, Darkly. Ellie is an Omega that accepts a temporary position at Green Woods to evaluate their inmates. She’s under the assumption she’ll be working with betas, but ends up with Erik, an alpha serial killer.

The book is told in alternating POV’s. Erik recognizes her immediately as his mate and weaves a web to trap her. There’s some plot/backstory (not a ton of world building though), but IMO it’s mostly a smut read. The forbidden, anti-H with a soft spot for the h type of smut.

Bottom Line- It was a quick, fun read. Nothing heavy but darker smut vs. fluffy smut which I prefer. Free to read with KU

Inspired by The Silence of the Lambs and Nordic Noir (the cold and snow are almost another character), this Omegaverse features behavior analyst Ellie and Erik, the convicted murderer she's working with. She knows he's a vicious killer, so why does the omega in her respond to the alpha in him?

If you're looking for a compelling, contemporary, consensual Omegaverse, I recommend this. Though the subject matter is "dark," it doesn't fit my definition of that overused term since Erik never once harms Ellie. Since I'm not a fan of "dark," I appreciated that. Never fear, though: there's plenty of sex and the usual Omegaverse tropes (slick, heat) are present. I also really liked the pace: its relatively short length means that the narrative is tight, focused on a clear line of action that doesn't lose momentum. I found this a welcome relief since so many generic books are repetitious, filled with endless internal monologues and samey scenes.

I have some quibbles. You have to suspend some disbelief (the protections in this maximum-security prison are jaw-droppingly lax) and I wish that Ellie, . In addition, while the prose flowed and contained great detailed descriptions (the prologue was particularly visceral), the number of unclear pronoun references meant that I had to read some sections twice. Tip to authors: If you have more than one male character in a scene, don't use "he" and "him" so freely.

3 1/2 stars which I'm raising to 4 because it's one of the few books I've enjoyed during my nearly six-month long reading slump. While Erik's and I don't entirely agree with the book's central message, I did like the characters: two broken souls who found solace, empathy, and understanding in each other.

This book was ok. The character building and plot was not really good but I think that’s because the book is just short. It was enjoyable and a quick read with some smut.

plot: 2/5
spice: 3/5
humor: 1/5
couple/tension: 3/5
world building: 3/5
happy end?: yes

*takes book off dark shelf* this is not a dark book, it very well could have been but if anything it’s more fluff.

Man this sucked.

I had very low expectations going in but the level of incompetence and stupidity exhibited by literally every single person in this book is astonishing. I read for the knots but even the sex scenes are a let down.

I kept wanting to DNF but it’s a short book so I powered through much to my regret. To the books Credit it’s actually pretty readable it’s just also pretty bad. Erik ‘genius’ super dude faces literally zero obstacles at any point, he can hack cars from his cellphone despite no service, he can literally do anything with said cellphone.

This prison apparently only has one guard? They don’t vet any new hires? I just…. I wasn’t expecting a lot for something that’s a plotless porn romp but the inconsistency and unrealistic occurrences were just too much for me to overlook when paired with less than mediocre sex scenes.

I could write a full essay ranting about all the issues I had about this book, but I’m gonna stop now so I can read something else I actually enjoy… Hopefully.

Alpha-Omega tropes aren't in my favorites' list... I wanted to read "Alpha Inmate" though because I love stories where one of the main characters is a convict or an ex-convict. Erik and Ellie's story was quite interesting to read, steamy for sure. I'm still not a fan of Alpha-Omega tropes, but I somewhat liked it.

3.5 Star.

What I liked:
1. Surprisingly decent story line for such a short book.
2. Steamy AF smexy scenes.
3. Free on KU!

What I didn’t like:
1. The writing. This was written in dual POV, but in third person, present tense. I typically don’t like books that are written in present tense, but sometimes they work, if they are written in first person. Also, when it comes to dual POV books I prefer ones that are written in first person, not third person. The combination of third person and present tense just didn’t work for me.
2. Insta love! I hate insta love. Erik and Ellie had only had a handful of interactions and boned once when, all of a sudden, he was in love with her 🙄.

Overall though, I would recommend this. It was a short, steamy Omegaverse, with a pretty good plot.

Eh, the plot was a whole damn mess, but obviously no one's reading this book for the plot so whatever. But as a casual omegaverse reader I'd say this was very underwhelming in terms of the omegaverse aspect. The heat/rut was glossed over and not as weird and intense as other omegaverse I've read. There was no nest building, no real 'out of mind' experience, again it was glossed over but usually heat is kinda long and crazy and this was just like pretty normal smut (besides the slick and knotting lol). I could've done with this being a bit darker as well, it was very fluffy and sweet so if you're after that and want an omegaverse that's pretty light on the omegaverse this was a quick, easy read🤷🏼‍♀️

Found this on TikTok knowing it would be cringey but maybe still good. I was wrong. I like possessive alpha men but nothing about this guy was worth it or redeeming. Also loss of a star for the excessive use of the word “slick”.

A steamy and short Omegaverse about Erik and Ellie. Erik is in prison and Ellie is sent to talk to him. Erik and Ellie feel the pull of their Alpha/Omega relationship. Erik will do anything to have her and keep her but Ellie isn’t so sure she wants to be kept.

This was a pretty good plot for such a short book and I really enjoyed it. However, they did jump into intimacy pretty quickly. I would have liked some more development there. But then I guess the book would have needed to be longer.

This was told in dual POV but in third person and I wasn’t a fan. But for what it was, it was a good smutty read to pass some time.
