STEVE ORLANDO'S SCARLET WITCH RUN REIGNITES! The Scarlet Witch has carved out a haven for herself in upstate New York, but it's all about to go up in flames. Wanda's newfound peace has drawn the wrath of a primal force unlike anything she's ever faced before, and it won't stop until it razes Wanda's world to the ground. It's a clash of titans as Wanda and her allies fight for all she holds dear! What happens when an unstoppable force meets the end of all things? When pure chaos meets pure destruction? Wanda's about to find out - if she survives long enough. Jacopo Camagni ( RED, Nomen Omen) joins writer Steve Orlando for an explosive new chapter of Scarlet Witch's story!
Just let this concept die already. She's a character who no longer resembles who she was in the 90s at all. Her powers have always been a little confusing, but now they're just out-and-out bonkers. She can now essentially do anything and everything, but this entire issue is dedicated to trying to make us believe that she can be bested by someone/something more powerful.
There are no real *rules* to her powers anymore. She's no longer a mutant. No longer altering probability. Now, she's just casting true magic spells. If the High Evolutionary actually did genetically modify her, it's no longer clear if such modifications actually did anything. Because now she's just describing various spells in her thought bubbles, leading us to believe she has learned every magic spell ever.
Good opening to see the Scarlet Witch is settling to her new home. Things are going well for her to the point where she can expand her help and her team; however, in comics, nothing lasts and a new big bad comes. The art is really good at showcasing Wanda's power set, however, I feel like she is so powerful that the writers had to move the goalpost and power creep the enemies rather have Wanda start at level one. It can be jarring because she is described as this all powerful being that can do so much but struggles to the point where extra help is needed. I understand that they have to put up the beats for the arc but I think it could have been done differently. Also having a character just being introduced with them getting immediately killed off just for tension is quite dubious, and makes me suspicious that they might come back again. A few perspective issues that made me how could characters possibly see events happening but overall great first issue to set up the arc and the big bad.

Won't be continuing this. Started off fairly interesting with events happening that reminded me of the events happening in Blood Hunt event occuring at the same time of release. However, that's where the similarities end and what follows quickly becomes a chaotic mess.
