This was everything I expected and more! Book two picks up directly after the ending of the first book. Now after Claire's trauma she's a sleepwalker who enjoys snacks? I couldn't stop laughing after those moments. There is so much banter and hilarious moments in this book.

Claire really can't catch a break in this book. From random sleepwalking, all of the lies, a lawsuit, and another unaliving plot I just needed her to get one moment. Thankfully it happens but man the journey was WILD. I just wanted Claire to walk around with a doughnut pillow with how many times she injured her tail bone lol. Honestly Claire is such a badass FMC I love her.

I loved that we got to see more of the side characters in this book too! I am obsessed with Claire's friendship with Nicole and Mindy. Speaking of Mindy a little plot twist I didn't see coming 😱 Then Sawyer was introduced and I literally fell in love lol. There's nothing about this series I don't like well except for Wendy but that's a given haha.

Thank you Hambright Pr and Madison Score for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

is mystery comedy a thing? because this book was definitely that! while there was a slight romance genre to it, say yes to the death really was an almost murder mystery that had such a comical side to it. this was my first of this type of book, and I did enjoy the laughs along the way of more series topics like abduction, cult fraternity, ptsd, and toxic family.

claire is the victim of a serial killer’s abduction gone wrong. after she puts him behind bars, the escalating threats continues. but the mystery is who’s behind it all? claire, her adorable pup, and her group of friends are on a mission to figure it out. along the way, claire is balancing her own business, a relationship she wasn’t too sure about, uncovering family relationships, and getting her sleepwalking habits under control!

I see I am in the distinct minority of my evaluation of this book. I did read the first one and felt this book basically beat a previous plot to death (no pun intended).

The main character borders on being an alcoholic - hiding wine in the dishwasher - which is not funny to me. She is also clumsy to the point of being unrealistic. I found her charmless and strident.

I will not read another book based on this character.

2.5 I probably can’t resist finishing the series, but this book had problems. It’s too much like Riley Thorne, the various bad guys were strange, the romance was hard to believe in, the mc makes some very dubious decisions, but mostly it’s just way too long. 550 pages for a romance/cozy mystery! It should have 200 pages cut, at least.

Book 1 was so good. This second book was equally amazing. There were unexpected twists and turns. It had a few law-and-order moments. It has some crazy family drama. And a little bit of a love triangle situation. I love the greater aspect of the kidnapping she went through. We think it’s over in Book 1, but was it? It took such an intense, suspenseful turn that was completely different and surprising. Utterly brilliant.

Eh. The two main characters majorly pissed me off in this book. They acted like toddlers. I’m going to pass on the rest of this series.

Thank you so much Hambright PR for sending me this ARC!

Say Yes to the Death is the second book in Claire Hartley Accidental Mystery series which is a great mix of Romantic Suspense and Romantic Comedy. I loved the first book in this series and this one was equally amazing, I already can’t wait for the next part of Claire’s story!

After narrowly escaping with her life after being targeted by a serial killer, Claire’s bad luck doesn’t get better with her nemesis filing a lawsuit against her and someone threatening her life again. Add to it her boyfriend keeping secrets from her yet again and her biological dad making appearance after 20 years, Claire’s life gets more chaotic than ever when she tries to grow her business, avoid the reporters and keep her personal life and relationships in check all the while trying to stay alive.

I had so much fun reading this book, I thought the first one was amazing but this one was even better. Madison created a story with the perfect amount of funny moments and banter between the characters but also enough suspense to keep me on the edge of my seat, the plot was interesting and perfectly paced and despite the book being quite long, I wasn’t bored for a single moment. Claire definitely was the star of this book, she is really strong, intelligent, funny and never gives up, but she also isn’t perfect and makes many mistakes which makes her quite real and relatable, it was amazing to learn even more about her and her family here. I like the couple in crisis trope and it was written really well here, Claire and Luke were amazing together but had some problems they needed to work out and I liked seeing them trying to communicate better and resolve their issues, I love them as a couple and can’t wait to see more of them. There were also so many amazing side characters, they were all well written and three dimensional and I hope some of them will get their own stories someday or maybe more spotlight in next books in this series.

Say Yes to the Death is a great second book in this amazing series, I loved it and definitely recommend this series to everyone. I can’t wait for book 3!

I wrote a beautiful review for this book and then I accidentally clicked out of it and lost it forever and now I’m sad, but we’ll see if I can write a good one again!

I’ve been waiting for this book since the end of the first book and this book did not let me down. I loved how the author chose to continue the serial killer story like from book one, that was an original choice that I’ve never seen in the romantic suspense books and series I’ve read before! The serial killer storyline was expanded on and brought to life even more than it already was in book one and is leaving me desperate to finish the story in the third book because I want to know how it’ll all play out!

I also loved how we get to see Luke and Claire’s transition into being together, and how it can be messy merging two lives and building a life together. It’s real and honest between them as they hurt each other, apologize, work things out and still have a good amount to go! I loved the addition of Sawyer to the romantic storyline and it makes the reader question how this love story will play out! Additionally, adding in all the new characters really make the story feel three-dimensional! I can’t wait to see how the rest of this story plays out in the next book!

Happy release day!!

This was a fun romantic suspense book. The book is about Claire, a marriage proposal planner, who is trying to get back into a normal routine after putting the man who hurt her in jail. Due to what happened to her, she’s developed a sleep walking habit which keeps putting her life at risk especially due to the anonymous threats she keeps receiving. She sometimes wakes up in random places outside of her home with no knowledge of how she got there. One bad thing after another happens. Claire is determined to find out who is behind it all.

There were twists, rivalries, and comedy. Her relationship with Luke was interesting and I liked seeing how it further developed especially with their communication. Claire’s friends are amazing, they were there for her through it all and supported her.
It is the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone. I read this first and plan to read the first book as well to get more of a backstory. I feel like I was still able to enjoy it without having read the first book. Overall an entertaining and great read.

Thank you Hambright Pr and Madison Score for the Arc!

Although I didn't care for "Bride or Die," I wanted to read this to finish the series.I liked this one a little more than the 1st one but not by much. The FMC was less annoying this time around, but it still felt all over the place & slow. Idk what it was: lack of Chemistry?Lack of banter? Lack of Funny Dialog? Lack of relatable characters? Forced Humor? I had a hard time focusing & kept putting it down. In comparison to her sister, Lucy Score's books are better. I give it a low 2🌟.

Say Yes to the Death by Madison Score is an absolute gem of a book that brilliantly combines humor, suspense, and romance, making it a thrilling and delightful read from beginning to end. This story follows the protagonist as she’s thrust into a wild and unpredictable situation, just as she’s preparing for her wedding. When a murder takes place, she’s caught up in an investigation that turns her life upside down, and she must navigate the chaos with wit, determination, and a little help from a charming (and mysterious) love interest.

Madison Score’s writing is sharp, engaging, and full of personality. The pacing is fast and keeps you hooked from the start, with just the right mix of suspenseful twists and laugh-out-loud moments. The romance is wonderfully developed, filled with sizzling chemistry and lighthearted banter, without taking away from the central mystery. It’s the perfect balance of intrigue and heart, making every chapter a joy to read.

The protagonist is smart, relatable, and full of personality, and watching her navigate both the murder mystery and the complexities of her relationships is both entertaining and heartfelt. The secondary characters are equally well-developed, adding humor and depth to the story. The small-town setting also gives the book a cozy, charming atmosphere, even as the stakes are raised with each new clue in the mystery.

What really sets Say Yes to the Death apart is how effortlessly it blends different genres. You’ll find yourself laughing at the humor, captivated by the twists and turns of the mystery, and rooting for the romance—all at the same time. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, with plenty of surprises that keep you guessing until the very end.

I couldn’t wait for it to end.

That’s sounds worse than it is. I enjoyed the book overall. The author is an entertaining storyteller, giving us what I’d most closely describe as “comedy mystery”. It was entertaining, but holy hell did it drag on. I love long books, so that wasn’t the issue per se. I just found myself checking to see “how much longer????” way too frequently for the past quarter or so of the book. It just wasn’t captivating at that point. And honestly I’m burnt out and not even interested in starting the third book. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I found some things frustrating, and maybe that is related to my issues with it dragging on. Whether I found them frustrating because I was already annoyed, or vice versa, I can’t say.

I think Claire was an ass to Luke. Frankly, if I were him, I would have walked away. She freaked out and blew up over something that he didn’t even do- he was asked to get an interview from her, but he hadn’t made a single push to do so. She left him in France and ghosted him. He did so much to win her back and apologize, and she did a horrendous thing to hurt him intentionally. She willfully did something she knew would hurt him the most, and did it in a situation that would allow her to witness it. To be fair, as it unfolded she had regrets. But the malicious intent was already done. He had zero malicious intent when he hurt her.

The whole situation with her absent father could have been removed and spared us about 100 pages. It could have been any random FBI guy instead of her father. Also, I can’t stand when authors choose to wrap up Pollyanna happy endings with awful people. She’s now going to be hunky dory with the father that walked out on her and her sister to start a new family with his mistress? And she’s just going to let that mistress waltz in 20 years later and hug all over her like they’ve been family all along? And Luke’s mom is suddenly not an evil see you next today? 🙄🙄

Ugh. Anyway - again, the writing was entertaining. I would certainly pick up another series or book by this author when she releases it. But I’m not sure I’ll even continue with the last Claire book.

ARC Review⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My favorite engagement planner is back. This book picks up right where book 1 left off. Trouble is still following our main character Claire Hartley wherever she goes. This book was full of nonstop LOL scenes and scenarios! I love the romcom and mystery mix in this book, it works so well together. We need more books like this.

In book one Claire was being hunted by a serial killer and that killer is now behind bars, but the threats haven’t stopped. As Claire works to solve this mystery and save her own life all while managing her romance with the grumpy touch her and die Luke. One open door scene in chapter 44, it was short and not too spicy. It could easily be skipped. I have to mention my favorite animal sidekick out there Rosie! She just makes everything in the book that much more adorable and engaging.

✔️ Romantic suspense
✔️ Enemies to lovers
✔️ Cozy mystery
✔️ Grumpy/Sunshine
✔️ Romantic comedy
✔️ Love triangle

Thank you to the author Madison Score and Hambright PR for the electronic advanced copy of the book.

Here it goes. With all due respect to the queen, Lucy Score…..who I love……

Sister ain’t got it. While this book was good, it was too long to hold attention and the ending was rushed. Plot points reduced to mere sentences while repetitive prose on the same subject matter that extended the book into snooze territory was abundant.

For the record-Claire Hartley is not a heroine I root for, but the trio of her, Mindy and Nicole is just exceptional. Their dynamic keeps me engaged when otherwise I’d be skimming. We need a Mindy book STAT!

I hate to say this but I hope the third book is the final. I just am not that interested in Claire as the MFC. Mindy? Absolutely. Wendy even. But Claire bugs me. I will keep Madison Score on my author list because she did have me laughing, and I see potential with a character other than “I need to take my dog as an ESA to Paris on an otherwise romantic getaway because I can’t relinquish control in any way” Claire.

felt a little too chaotic but still enjoyed!

I loved the first book but this one kind of felt all over the place and chaotic. It almost seemed like there were so many competing plots that each ended up being glossed over. And there were a handful of unexplained gaps in the story timeline (which was confusing to me)…I felt like I had somehow skipped chapters? But it did all tie together nicely in the end!
I’ve also never read a book character who is as clumsy as Claire. I don’t think we went a full chapter without her getting a ridiculous self inflicted injury. I’m not sure what that was all about lol but it got to the point where it just felt absurd?
I still love Madison Score’s writing style so I’ll definitely read the third book but hoping it’s maybe edited a little better.

The book was entertaining, but went on a bit too long, in my opinion. Main character Claire runs an event business devoted to wedding proposals, which is one wild idea. There is a lot of banter and very “slapstick” events. I can picture this as a mystery/comedy movie.

This is the second book in the Claire Hartley series, which has mystery, romance, and so many LOL moments! Claire’s story picks up right where book 1 leaves off, so I highly recommend reading book 1 first to fully appreciate this one!

Trouble seems to follow Claire everywhere now and she can’t catch a break. She has her business rival to deal with, new threats, and relationship bumps to work through. Claire is trying to manage her normal life of running her top notch engagement proposal business, all while staying safe from more bad guys.

Luke and Claire continue their relationship and it’s fun to see that grow and develop. I loved seeing Claire and her best girl friends work together and support each other relentlessly. They will literally do anything for one another, which is so fun to read about.

I liked seeing Claire learn self defense moves and techniques to handle being preyed upon. Also, the new characters in this book kept the plot intriguing too! They were a nice addition to the story.

I was giggling at so many random moments in this book! Claire and her friends are so sassy, and Claire’s own sense of humor was fun to read. I don’t get to read many romcoms with mystery mixed in and it’s such a fun mix! Also, Claire’s mom Alice is such a fun vibe!

Oh yes, and I am sooooo excited that Claire, Luke and Rosie will be back for another story! Yay!! 🐕

💍 Say Yes to the Death by Madison Score REVIEW 💍

⭐⭐⭐💫✨

I started off hopeful reading the second installment of the Claire Hartley Accidental Mystery series, because it did have quicker pacing and jumped right in where the previous story left off. However, this one ended up being even longer than the first book, and the quick start tapered back off to a slow pace.

Claire Hartley, engagement planner extroidinaire, has narrowly escaped the clutches of a serial killer, but now learns that he was part of a national network of misogynistic frat boys who are targeting women who they believe take opportunities away from men and don't know their place. We're introduced to several new characters, such as Claire's estranged FBI agent father, Luke's cold as ice defense attorney mother who happens to be representing her would be killer, and hulking security expert Sawyer for a little will they or won't they tension while Claire reevaluates her relationship with Luke. Along with the rest of her friend group, the gang tries to take down the evil frat on their own when the authorities don't believe they could possibly be behind the deaths and disappearances of countless women across the country. After the initial quick start, I did feel this fell into the same patterns as the first book, with several side quests and characters that were introduced and then never went anywhere, such as Sawyer playing a prominent role in the first part of the book only to all but disappear in the second part. I would still be interested to see where this series go, and think it's a fun intro to cozy romantic mysteries for new readers of the genre.

Not going to lie, Claire is kind of a hot mess after her abduction and experience with the Widowmaker. She's dealing with things by not really dealing with them at all and this is causing issues for the poor lady. Issues like sleepwalking and sleep eating (which are both awkward on a lot of levels in different ways) and being a little manic. Which she kind of was before the abduction, come to think, so maybe that's not caused by everything she's done through.

The point? Claire's got a serious hot mess thing going on. Her archnemesis is suing her (to be fair, Wendy's even MORE of a hot mess than Claire and she's wildly vindictive to boot, so that lady kind of deserves everything coming to her. Well, maybe not everything.), her probably-boyfriend is being weirdly secretive, his mom is NOT NICE AT ALL (neither is his brother, so Luke has a pretty messed up family), and Claire's absent father has decided to show up and insert himself into her life in maybe the worst way possible.

With everything going on, Claire doesn't make some of the best choices. But she's nothing if not entertaining and her actions sort of spur Luke into sharing things he wouldn't otherwise be inclined to share. So that's a win. But the fact someone is gunning for Claire AGAIN almost overshadows that. Almost.

Anywho. Claire has issues, her boyfriend needs to figure out his priorities, someone wants Claire (and other women) to pay for being successful, there are family THINGS popping up left and right, and Clair's archnemesis is AWFUL. Just really awful. So bad. Yuck to her, but thumbs up to the book!

5/5 plus infinity

Ahhhhh back with Claire & LOVED it. These books are some of my favorite adventures!!

When I first read Bride or Die, I kept thinking that the book had the same vibes as something else & I couldn’t put a finger on it. And now while reading this book, I realized that it’s same vibes as Bridget Jones Diary!! So hilarious that it gives big belly laughs.

Madison is a master of keeping the reader hooked on every word! There is not a single sentence in this book that isn’t entertaining. She writes even the details of the book that not only paints the picture, but does it in a way that makes it hilarious, entertaining, & interesting. And I feel that very few writers can actually make every sentence interesting. I flew through this book & could not put it down!

Things I loved:

🍦 the apology of pizza and ice cream (inspo for my photo) was the best apology I’ve ever read

🖤 Luke said it best… 𝓅𝓇𝑜𝓅𝑜𝓈𝒶𝓁-𝓅𝓁𝒶𝓃𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒷𝒶𝒹𝒶𝓈𝓈

🌹 obv Rosie because as if I could’ve loved her even more after Bride or Die and yet I found that I could in fact love her even more!

🇺🇸 Ericka & Tyler’s proposal 😭

💜 girls-only Code Purple

🌟 star spinning

🦃 Claire’s best pro-tip…hide-a-wine for hosting thanksgiving (will be using this one)

💫 Luke & Claire…still obsessed with them & want more stories of them!!

Ahhhh my final remark is that I really hope there’s a third book… this was one of those books that I wanted to know what was going to happen next & read it super fast to find out, but at the same time wanted to savor it because I didn’t want it to end.

💕 both Bride or Die & Say Yes to the Death are available now!! (Also, both on KU!)
