Mantles Past and Present: What Mantles Are and How They Work
A Journey Into the World of Mantles
There is an emphasis in the Spirit regarding the subject of mantles in this end-time hour, and many believers in different parts of the Body of Christ are picking up on it. More and more are "What is a mantle? How do they operate? Who gets a mantle, and who doesn't? Can a mantle be given away at a minister’s discretion? Can I receive a mantle?"
Throughout the Church, we hear terms such as “mantles,” “impartations,” and “anointings” used freely, yet there often seems to be little clarity on what each term means and how they differ. Thankfully, as God’s people, we have His Word to turn to for answers and the Spirit of Truth within “…who reveals the profound and hidden things…” (Dan. 2:22 NASB)!
In his book Mantles Past and Present, Roberts Liardon tackles this challenging subject, drawing on his more than 40 years of experience in ministering the Gospel, studying God’s Word, and fulfilling the divine mandate Jesus gave him as a boy to study the lives of God’s generals.
Roberts states, “…I present this book as my way to put a brick in the wall of understanding mantles. I invite others to please put their bricks on top of mine, and let’s help build a wall of understanding. That way we can all learn, and the next generations can reap the benefit — because the day of mantles has returned. It is here. Mantles are an important part of the last-day revival, and there has to come an understanding that can help move the Church forward in preparation for Jesus’ soon return!”
So buckle up! It’s time to take a journey into the world of mantles!

Mantle serves as a foundational framework for understanding mantles and spiritual father/son relationships, with a stronger emphasis on the concept of the mantle itself than on the relational dynamics. The book is weighty and thought-provoking, offering strong biblical references alongside experiential insight drawn from the author’s observations.
Rather than functioning as a “how-to” guide, this book establishes language, categories, and theological grounding for a topic that is far more complex and nuanced than it may initially appear. While reading, I found myself unsettled yet encouraged—prompted to think more carefully about healthy pursuit, discernment, and what desires are appropriate when seeking spiritual covering.
This is an introductory yet essential read for believers at any stage—both those who are fathering and those who desire to be fathered. It provides a necessary starting point for deeper study, prayer, and wisdom, and is a helpful reference for anyone writing or speaking on the subject in the future.

A wonderful deep dive into mantles- what they are and what they are not. Also includes a great look at the lives of great evangelists including George Jeffreys, Reinhard Bonnke, Smith Wigglesworth, Lester Sumrall, Maria Woodworth-Etter, Aimee Semple McPherson and Kathryn Kuhlman. A great learning tool to increase your understanding of mantles.

This is a must read for the next Generation church on the importance of spiritual fathers
In this age of a multitude of voices,
Many many teachers but few fathers in the faith
this is water in the desert
Clear concise Biblical teaching with historical and experience illustration to convey its importance

I've read a few of Roberts Liardon's book in the past, but I must say this is my favourite. I really liked that he shared his personal journey of having a personal mentor and spiritual father. I enjoyed reading this book as well because it was written plainly without being too hard on preaching. Made it very digestible.

Mantles!!!!
Biblically sound material. As a young minister I'm encouraged to pursue righteous living and to learn from those gone ahead, and embrace the ministry of those around me.
I love the Father-Son concept in ministry! I love Pastor Liardon own experiences.
Blessings upon you! I love your books, all those I've read has impacted me!
Blessings,

Excellent!
This is a subject that is rarely mentioned in our current culture. However, for the born again believer, this is a subject that needs to be understood in our walk with the Lord and for our Kingdom assignments.
