The Lost Girls #4

Blackmailing Belle

Rate this book
The Beast doesn’t ask for beauty—he demands obedience.

There’s nothing worse than a customer who sneers at your romance-only bookstore, calls your favorite genre trash, and still expects a refund for a wrinkled paperback they’ve clearly read.

Or so I thought.

Turns out, being dragged to a mansion by the Beast of Boston—a terrifying Werebeast and notorious mafia boss—is far worse.

Dominic Blackwell isn’t the stuff of fairytales. He’s ruthless, scarred, and deals in curses that destroy lives. And now, thanks to my dad’s questionable choices, I’m stuck in the middle of his dangerous world. His terms are clear: marry him, or my dad suffers the consequences.

Dominic has no pack to call his own, and his fractured form leaves him trapped between man and beast. Our proximity sparks something primal in him—and something I’d rather not name in myself. He says I’m perfect for him—curves and all.

I say he’s out of his mind.

With my life turned into a dark romance I never signed up for, I’ll need more than my sharp tongue and book smarts to survive this arrangement. Because in Dominic’s world, the line between captor and husband is razor-thin, and falling for the Beast may cost me everything.

This spicy, enemies-to-lovers fairytale retelling will have you clawing for more, with a morally gray alpha, forced proximity, and a romance as sharp as his claws.

Blackmailing Belle
By Holly Roberds 5⭐️

The scream I just scrumpt when this ARC dropped..
let me tell YOU, Tasting Red is a book I rec all the time, so when I had the chance to read Blackmailing Belle, I was floored. Holly has this unique way of taking a fairytale and truly making it her own with that special add of spice! Her writing is captivating and you grow to feel the connection with her characters and story. What truly gets me always is the titles of her chapters. 💓

Isabelle aka Belle was such an amazing addition to The Lost Girls! If you read the series, which can be a standalone, you’ll know The Lost Girls are fierce!
Belle is one bad ass chick!
Belle is a plus sized FMC that owns a bookstore called Chapter Three. Her dad lost his mind while taking a “Thorn” and he didn’t have the “Petal” (antidote) for it. Belle’s dad one day wanders off and gets captured by The Beast Of Boston (The Beast aka Dominic)
To protect her dad she agrees to marry The Beast. (Which he had his own agenda)… and the twist! Don’t get me started.

Belle and The Beast.. their chemistry was EVERYTHING. And beautifully written. The tension. The banter. Just chefs kiss*
While reading I was getting flashbacks from the movie, it made it easy to connect.

One of my favorite fairytales is Beauty and The Beast.. Holly Roberd makes your love for these tales come to life with that touch of spice. (When I say touch I mean.. poured spice in there) not complaining bc HELLO! The best thing about the book is if you take the spice out, the story still holds.

This series will forever be one of my favorite! I am so thankful to have been able to ARC this beauty!

I read an advance copy of Blackmailing Belle by Holly Roberds. I loved the retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It was a fresh take on this classic fairytale. Creating a modern twist was very refreshing.
Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairytale. She did a wonderful job making it her own.

SPICE, it had plenty! 4 out 5.
I enjoyed her take on the beast and how it played into the story. Creating him differently than the original.

I enjoyed the plot of the story. Being able to keep my interest and allowing me to think about what will happen next.
I would recommend this book and her while series of The Lost Girls 💯!!!

i've always loved reading fairytale retellings. especially beauty and the beast! belle (in this universe, anyway) intrigued me. and I love how she's living the a romance bookstore owner's dream too. it's funny how she was first like "i love reading monster smut but nah i don't think i'll experience that irl even if there are real monsters in this realm" and then in the end she was like "i love dominic in his human beast, half beast, and the actual beast iykwim". i love that for her please.

all the disney references got me excited too! all the elements (or their counterparts) are present. especially those cute flutterbuns! i enjoyed reading belle's book and i only wished we get to see some flashbacks so we could have even more angst. but overall, this is still a pretty good read.

so curious about rap, still. especially the extended epilogue. also please tell me we'll have ariel (hopefully soon?) too?

I just finished an advanced copy of Blackmailing Belle, and wow—this book is EVERYTHING! The sexy Beast’s character growth? Chef’s kiss. Belle? A fierce, tattooed stubborn queen. Her bookshop? Literal heaven that I wish I could visit in real life.

The steam? A 20/10, no notes. Bring extra panties for the spicy scenes. But beyond the spice, this book hits deep with relatable inner struggles and beautifully written imagery that makes every scene pop. The references to her other books were a fun Easter egg. Bonus points for the fan-name Easter eggs as well—it’s such an honor!! And that cover? Absolutely stunning! 😍

If you love strong characters, romance, and writing that pulls you in, Blackmailing Belle is a must-read!

Dang this one I think is my least favorite out of the lost girl series. I don’t know if it’s because I am exhausted. There was so many nights I had to pick it up and put it down. It felt like it took me forever to finish. It was well written for the most part, very predictable and sometimes a little cheesy. I never really fell in love with the beast and I didn’t want to be Belle. Her bookshop was the coolest part and the fluffbuns even though we didn’t get a resolution for their invasive species.

3.25⭐️ probably my least fav book in this series so far, which is super disappointing considering I am a fiend for mafia romances and "the beast" in this book is essentially a mafia don.

for some reason, this just couldn't hold my interest too well and it almost felt like a chore to keep picking it up at times. there were just too many inconsistencies, in terms of continuity errors in multiple different scenes (clothing, positions, information-- and also tons of grammatical/spelling errors).

i still really enjoy this series and will definitely still be reading the next book when it comes out, but this unfortunately didn't meet my expectations.

I was stoked when I got the approval email for this ARC! This was my first book I’ve read by her, and it’s a standalone in the Lost Girls series.

A sexy smutty dark version of a Beauty and the Beast retelling?! Yes please!

Dom (The Beast of Boston) blackmails Belle into marrying him. The tension is high,
steamy chapters, dual POV, a fiesty curvy FMC (which you don’t get to see often and I loved that), and grumpy yet sexy shifter MMC.

What more can you want out of a Retellings of one of your favorite Disney movies?!
This is a must read for smutty romance readers who loved Beauty and the Beast growing up!

There were some aspects of this that I absolutely loved, and others that just drove me crazy. I think I would have liked it more without all of the added fantasy elements, but I did appreciate Belle and Dominic’s bond, all of the body positivity and diversity rep, and of course.. everything about her romance bookstore, Chapter Three.

I LOVE a fairytale retelling and Holly is killing it with the Lost Girl Series ! Beauty and The Beast is my favourite Disney film so I was counting down for the release for Belle’s story !

Belle (Isabelle) , the owner of a bookstore , Chapter Three , became leverage , a pawn in the Beast of Boston’s grip . A contract of marriage in order to protect a loved one. a life for a life . Nothing says I love you more than being held captive , Stockholm syndrome at its finest .. I love it ! I’m here for that darkness!!

This was an intense but enjoyable twist of the fairytale . The angst , the wide range of emotions was off the charts ! Dominic was all shades of grey - powerful , possessive and obsessive ! I have to admire his strength in the measures he took to control himself in order to protect her , from others but from himself and his beast , but I did want to shake him at times! . I loved Belle! She pushed back, she was sassy , passionate about her books and family and always called him out on his BS and held him accountable , she saw through him and held her ground !

The side characters was an extra addition they brought more humour , Lucien and Tock’s banter was top tier and we can’t forget the lovable Mrs P

**RIP to my google search after looking up what a barbed penis looked like .. I guess I needed the visual for research purposes

This was so good! Prior to this book I had only read Tasting Red from this author, which was a reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood. It was very enjoyable!

Blackmailing Belle is a clever retelling of Beauty and the Beast. Isabelle is blackmailed into marrying the Beast of Boston in order to protect her mentally ill father. Just like the original tale, the two characters clash but little by little feelings start to change between them.

I thought the author did a great job with this. I loved how the fairy tale’s characters were fleshed out here, with Mrs. Potts as a housekeeper, Chip as a non-binary former street urchin who comes to work in Belle’s bookstore, and so on. The dark romance /mafia/ magic/shifter twist to this version just made it even more enjoyable to read.

I would have devoured this in one sitting but stupid real life got in the way so it took me a few nights to get through it, but I looked forward to seeing what was going to happen next - and how- with every night I sat down to read.

If you like fairy tale reimaginings or retellings, dark romance, mafia, shifters, touch her and unalive, grumpy sunshine, enemies to lovers, and a HEA- or are just a fan of Beauty and the Beast- you should read this.

What happened to hello, and how are you in chapter two😩🥵!! I was hooked, and this was a beautiful and fun reading.

~ Fav Quote ~
"The stories may be fiction, but the connections they bring? The main character energy it can inspire? The escapes it can provide from the unpleasant parts of life? That’s as real as it gets." ♥️

Here me out!! Holly cooked with this one has to be the best in the lost girls series enjoying this book so much, and Dominic ouh fae lords❤️‍🔥.

Dominic shifted to a Lion that's ok, Dominic shifted between Lion and a man that's ok!! BUT Dominic shifted to a whole Man!!!....

The plot is a CHEF KISS!! And the spice, the boat house scene will forever live in my head rent-free😩. Holly ATEEEEE!

Tropes:
✨️Forced Marriage
✨️Mafia Romance
✨️Beauty and Beast Retelling
✨️Possessive/Obsessed ML
✨️Touch her, and you DIE!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and while it was a quick read I will say that you should definitely pay attention to the Triggers and the fact that it is a Dark Romance in nature.
This story follows Isabelle- romance bookstore owner of Chapter 3 and Dominic (aka the Beast of Boston)

This is a beauty and the beast retelling but with a modern take and gangs.

There were great moments in the book, but I also felt it was too much at some points and the ending had one of absolutely least favorite Tropes. (Which I won’t mention since that would be a spoiler)

If you go into this with the understanding of the nature of the book- and if you like true dark romance, you will enjoy this fact paved read.

Instantly my favorite Beauty and the Beast retelling!

What can I say to properly convey how much I adored this book? It might have become my new favorite in the Lost Girls series yet!

Blackmailing Belle is a standalone novel in the paranormal romance/fairytale retelling series Lost Girls. So far the books covered fairyales like Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks and the Three Bears (not a why choose nor a love triangle) and Cinderella, but there are more to come that I’m very excited about!

As I mentioned above, this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. We have Belle, who is a plus size woman and owns a romance bookstore, and Dominic, the infamous Beast of Boston who is a lion shifter stuck in a half-shifted state. When Belle’s father breaks into Dominic’s house, the Beast makes an offer difficult to refuse: marry him, or her dad suffers the consequences. Why does Dominic want this arrangement? I shall not spoil.

Again, I LOVED THIS BOOK! Like all the other Lost Girls books, there were elements that were a clear call back to the original tale that fans will enjoy finding, and yet the story was completely unique. Belle and Dominic have an amazing banter. Sometimes there is a real battle of wills between the two, where her feistiness meets his dominance head on. Dominance that Belle appreciates in one particular aspect of their relationship… all I will say is that this book was HAWT and played on all my Beauty and the Beast imaginings 😂 I also loved getting the opportunity to see my beloved Lost Girls again, and I enjoyed all the new secondary characters introduced.

Here are some tropes!
🥀 beauty and the beast retelling
📚 plus size FMC who owns a romance bookstore
🦁 morally gray lion shifter MMC
💍 marriage of convenience
🔮 mäfïa dealing in hexes

Thank you to the author for gifting me a copy. Opinions are my own.

‘Sweet baby witchtits, it’s good!!!

We are finally thrown back into the hollyverse, and ‘sweet baby witchtits’ was I here for it!!

The much awaited Belle & Beast retelling from Holly Roberds is FINALLY here, and it will have your mouths drooling and your panties… well you know.
You will laugh, you will almost cry and you’ll kick your legs giggling like a school girl over some of this hilarious dry humour!!

Belle or Isabelle a young bookstore owner was just minding her own business and being the carer of her father. Suddenly, she has to make a deal with… the beast.
Dominic the beast of Boston, lost everything once and will soon lose his life if he can’t do the impossible which he needs Belle to make it happen.

But how can anyone form a connection with the cruel, cold and calculating beast of Boston? How can anyone see through the deformed appearance of him?
He’s broody, possessive and arrogant as hell, but something about him intrigues Belle, maybe the beast of Boston isn’t who everyone makes him out to be?

No matter how many times you read the original fairytale, nothing is what it seems in this one, Holly has definitely nailed it again.
Thorns and petals exist, but not in the way you thought they would.

Can the past be left in the past?
And can true happiness really live in their future?

Can the beast of Boston love and be loved?
Or will their world burn.

You’ll see.

I got the opportunity to read Blackmailing Belle by Holly Roberds and as a Beauty and the Beast retelling, it did not disappoint!
Modern day meets “fairytale” (Belle likes to read about them, not believe in them). Her father who was cursed by a thorn goes missing, and she finds him to be held captive by the Beast of Boston. For his release and wellbeing, the Beast offers her a deal she barely thinks twice about. Her hand in marriage for her father’s safety.

This story was so good and I loved every second of it.
Plot: ⭐️ 5/5 (vibes only here)
Spice: 🌶️ 4/5

Can be read as a standalone, but other Lost Girls have their own stories you can read.

Loved Belle with her books, curves and tattoos.
I didn’t see the twist coming about Belle.
Lost girls are still there supporting other lost girls. Every time I read a book of Holly’s I think, this one is my fave. But I think they all are.

You guys!!!!! I squealed when this beauty appeared in my email. I'm so grateful to have read this ARC Blackmailing Belle by @authorhollyroberds. Her rendition of my absolute favorite fairytale was stunning, spicy, thrilling and heartwarming.

From beginning to end, this book will live rent-free in my heart. Isabella's father falls into the hands of Dominic the Beast of Boston. In order to free her father, she must marry Dominic to help him shift out of his half man-half beast form. A marriage transaction and nothing more.....or so they thought!

I can’t get enough of this series!! 😍 Seriously obsessed with this authors writing and these spicy retellings. I was nervous for the 4th book since Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairytale, but let me tell you.. it IS EVERYTHING I HOPED FOR 😭❤️

Isabelle owns a small book shop in a fantasy Boston, where humans cohabit with mages and fae. Love that she’s a mid size girl like me 🥹 She’s headstrong about somethings in life, including love. She thinks “love is best kept between the pages of a book“ literally. In enters Dominic; The Beast of Boston ; a dark fae mafia Lord who runs Boston underworld. He keeps Isabelle’s father locked in his mansion and offers her an unusual marriage proposal, leaving her no choice but to accept. His intensions are selfish: to shift into his human form again. Whilst hers are selfless; to save her father. I was hooked I can’t resist an opposites romance!

Isabelle feels empathy for the pain that the Beast is enduring . Their attraction starts to blossom in her heart despite the marriage agreement. The spicy scenes are 🥵🥵

I obtained this book via ARC and to be honest, I didn’t expect to even get selected but I’m a sooo happy I did!

I really, really enjoyed this book. I’m not a big fan of “re-tellings” and it’s not because I’ve read ones I didn’t like, the trope has just never really appealed to me but this book has definitely converted me!

The book had me from the get go, once I got my head around that it was a re-telling. If I had the time, I would’ve read it in the one sitting. I loved both the lead and side characters and enjoyed the roles they played. I’m a sucker for a strong FMC and an even bigger sucker for a brooding MMC and when you have both of them together, it just makes the book.

I actually don’t want to say much because I don’t want to give anything away, apart from that it’s a re-telling; so please, please, please have a read; the book will melt your heart!

I had the honor of reading this as my first ARC and it blew my mind! I recently found @authorhollyroberds and life is so much better for it. If you love spicy retellings of Disney stories then this book is definitely for you!

Blackmailing Belle is part of the Lost Girl series. (I HIGHLY recommend the Lost Girl series!!) From start to finish, you are drawn into Isabelle and Dominic's life and the struggles they face separately and as they work through their agreement. Watching how these characters find their own strength is mesmerizing and Holly does an amazing job with details!

Thank you so much @authorhollyroberds for the honor of being an ARC!
