My name is Nora Black, local shop owner and part-time psychic consultant in the resort town of Garden Cove.
When an anonymous letter in the local paper exposes my extrasensory secret, our normally idyllic town is plagued by a series of mysterious accidents, and I find myself drawn into a deadly game of cat and mouse.
A cunning killer has targeted me by planting scent clues to a murder he plans to commit. His clues are muddy, but the message is Catch me before I kill.
Thankfully, I won’t have to piece together the puzzle alone. With my best friends Gilly and Pippa and my sweetheart Detective Ezra Holden by my side, we’ll sniff out the trail of the would-be killer.
But as the danger escalates, I’ll have to rely on my unique ability to decipher the clues and outsmart my devious foe before it’s too late.
About Renee: USA Today Bestselling author Renee George writes paranormal mysteries and romances because she loves all things whodunit, Otherworldly, and weird. Also, she wishes her pittie, the adorable Kona Princess Warrior, and her beagle, Josie the Incontinent Princess, could talk. Or at least be more like Scooby-Doo and help her unmask villains at the haunted house up the street.
When she’s not writing about mystery-solving werecougars or the adventures of a hapless psychic living among shapeshifters, she is preyed upon by stray kittens who end up living in her house because she can't say no to those sweet, furry faces. (Someone stop telling them where she lives!)
She resides in Mid-Missouri with her family and spends her non-writing time doing really cool stuff...like watching TV and cleaning up dog poop.

The Scented Cipher (A Nora Black Midlife Psychic Mystery Book 9) DUE 7/7/24 5 STARS NORA AND THE WHOLE GANG
It was a busy time in town. Lots of activities--including an anonymous letter in the local newspaper. Nora's special ability to "scent" out crimes, clues, etc. was revealed. Those who didn't understand didn't appreciate her efforts to help solve crimes, especially when threats started arriving against her. Who is anonymous? Are the threat clues real? When the threats started coming true the questions were answered--except who!
The authorities and Nora's besties work together to solve the crimes. With time restraints in the clues will they save those threatened? Will her abilities lead them to the culprit?
This one is even more complex than the other books. I enjoy the teamwork and the characters fans have met in books past. Another winner, Ms. George. Keep 'em coming.
With her reputation strangely in the crosshairs of someone who appeared to have something against her and with her close ones in danger, Nora found herself against the clock using her gift to do what she knows how to do, discover the culprit. The situations that arose were very intriguing and not at all common. They aroused my interest with descriptions and narrations that allowed us to visualize the dangers facing the characters and their possible consequences. I like how the author weaved the plot full of suspicions that kept me thinking, trying to guess what was behind it and alert to the clues. Of course, there was no lack of humor that characterizes the characters and that makes me smile so much with the comments that Nora made and the things that happened to her every day. These stories are very entertaining, with suspense, humor, strong bonds of friendship and a cozy mystery that I liked.
Nora is faced with an "anonymous" letter to the editor of a small town paper, accusing her if prying into folks secrets, and recklessly messing about in the private business of others.
What Nora at first chooses to try to ignore escalated into somewhat juvenile yet with dangerous potential stunts throughout a tourists and events filled weekend.
Mix big shoes politicians and local journalists with twisted actions and stinky stuff- to things get stinky, and messy.
Action, drama and emotion packed maneuvers and manipulations that make for pulls you in and keeps you hooked reading.
An Anonymous letter to the newspaper outs Nora's special gift which has helped the police solve crimes, but it makes the town very leery. But it also includes some very dire threats that could hurt not only the people she cares about, but the town as a whole. The villain has left clues as to the dire events with time limits to stop them before they happen. Can she and her friends and her boyfriend, Ezra find the evil person bent on destroying Nora and the town in Nora's name? It is impossible to put this book down once you begin! What a great addition to the series. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here is strictly my own.
Nora Black’s back with her nose to the ground in The Scented Cipher, and it’s another whirlwind adventure! After her extrasensory abilities are exposed by an anonymous letter, Garden Cove gets hit with a string of accidents, and soon enough, Nora is pulled into a twisted game of cat and mouse with a killer who’s leaving scent clues about his next murder. With her trusted friends Gilly and Pippa, and the ever-charming Detective Ezra Holden, Nora pieces together the cryptic trail. The tension keeps rising as the killer’s plans unfold, but Nora's psychic gift shines as she works to outsmart him. It’s a fun, suspenseful read with just enough twists to keep you guessing!
I enjoy this series with it's unique premise (Nora's "smelly vision"), relatable characters, and plenty of camaraderie and chemistry, but this was a particularly well crafted mystery that kept me guessing. The stakes are high for Nora in this latest outing, and all of her friends, young and not as young, are engaged in a unique hunt for a malicious villain. The clues are clever and directed at Nora, her gift, and to a great extent, her generation. In my opinion, this book is a level above the usual fun read. I look forward to more scented investigations with Nora, Ezra, and the gang.
Margaret Strom does a good job of bringing these characters to life.
A letter in the Garden Cove newspaper outs Nora for being 'psychic ' not scent sniffer, lol.
But as that goes out, the visions start giving clues to her that, in the beginning make little sense. Voices of Christopher Walken, Dolly Patton and others, confuse the heck out of it.
But what they do realise is that the person doing these things means business!
Oh my! I've read nine books in, around a week, now I'm waiting for the pre-order on book ten to drop 😮😮😂😂😂😂
The latest installment of this series sees Nora race against the clock to prevent a major event that could hurt the people of Garden Cove. Someone has found a way to target Nora’s special gift and left clues for her about the impending attack. Can she solve the mystery before someone got hurt? It’s wonderful to be back in Garden Cove with Nora and the gang. Renee has an amazing way of weaving a story! Can’t wait for the next book!!!
OMG, so hard to put down! The only reason I stopped reading was because I had to go to the hospital for surgery!! Then I was up until 3 am to finish it. I had to know who the culprit(s) were. I was so surprised by it all and the lengths people would go to for revenge and freedom from what they feel is no way out. Petty, childish people. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
Nora and Ezra find that Nora has been challenged to find a culprit before evil and destruction destroys Garden Cove in Nora's name. She, her friends, and her man have a mystery adventure to solve before things light up the night. An exciting storyline and the characters are entertaining. I read the review copy without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.
I loved this installment of the series a bit more and I've enjoyed them all. I like that Nora is her own person and that Ezra accepts and supports her, as she does him. I love how she cherishes her friends and their relationships. She works to solve a mystery with a foe that is able to challenge her by using her gifts. I don't want to give too much away but I found it intriguing.
Nora and her nose are back on the case when an anonymous source outs her smell-o-vision to the public, and then challenges her to stop them from committing various crimes. It'll be all noses, err hands, on deck for this one.
Love this series so hard. So many twists and turns, wonderful characters, and interesting storylines. I can't wait to read what happens next!
One of my favorite series! I love this Nora Black series! Nora and Ezra have a beautiful relationship, all Nora's friends are also beautiful on the inside and outside and there's danger around every corner. Fortunately, everything works out as Nora, Ezra and her friends work hard to find the real culprit.
Nora will have to sniff out a killer in this charming read. When the newspaper starts received letters with a deadly scent things will get messy as a killer is on the loose. Once again she and her friends will find a way to solve the case before the bodies pile up. Fans will enjoy this read.
Nora Black is back with her usual crew and a new person or two. This time she’s up against a villain who is using scents to send her clues about upcoming attacks on Garden Cove residents. Will she figure out the perpetrator in time? Another great cozy mystery with an interesting twist.
Nora is back and this time trying to stop crimes before they happen thanks to cryptic scent clues that are being sent to her. She has her friends to help but will it be enough to stop the would be killer in time?
Somebody out there has it in for Nora and now she has to sniff out the culprit. This brings the danger close to home. This story had me biting my nails and flipping pages. This may be the best in the series to date.
The Scented Cipher is a fun & engaging mystery. Nora and her gang brought the sleuthing as well as levity to the caper. I was hooked on the turns the story takes. If you’re looking for a fun mystery read, this is it.
Nora gets pulled into an investigation because it is, unfortunately, centered on her. It starts with a letter in the newspaper revealing her secret and then the incidents begin. The criminal sends her scent hints that she needs to decipher before someone gets hurt.
This is an intense cozy mystery with relatable characters who worm their way into your heart. A few might remind you of people you know or know of who you wish you hadn’t. I love the friendship and blended families. I was kept guessing throughout and enjoyed the ending.
Another amazing story that will entice you to keep reading. Nora has secrets that others might find out. Loads of mystery, suspense and super characters.
Crime and hatred stink Nora is back in a race to save her name and reputation in town. The whole gang come together to hunt down the horrible person and figure out the why. The people involved and the reasoning is a WTH deal but Nora and gang grab the win and save the town from mass destruction and most assuredly several deaths! Sometimes even the smelliest place can be turned into a bed of roses! Looking forward to more Nora and gang!!!
