Andrew’s eyes widened in terror. The cinder wolves were a hundred times scarier at night. The flames glowed bright orange and pulsated out of them like fiery heartbeats. The ice sizzled and snapped beneath their paws as they stalked closer and closer.
The cinder wolves strike without warning reducing entire towns to ash. Guided by an unseen dark hand, these monsters of flame won’t stop until they have brought down the one man they were created to kill: Pecos Bill.
Just as the wolves are closing in, time-shifting magic forces Andrew Rufus and Pecos to share a body once more.
Andrew had hoped to return to the past to find answers, but now it seems he may only find his own death because…

Hi, I'm M.M. Crumley Your Author Extraordinaire (Also Known as M.M. Boulder)
As M.M. Crumley I write Urban Fantasy books full of supernatural action, nail-biting-mystery and; laugh-out-loud humor. Why? Because stories, myths, and legends have always been a huge part of my life... As a child, I liked nothing better than to lose myself in a world where magic and heroes were part of the fabric of existence.
As my pen name M.M. Boulder I write psychological thrillers and murder mysteries that bring the darker impulses we may not feel completely comfortable with into the light. My stories are full of lies and deaths, but there is always justice. A type of justice that's not afraid to get its hands dirty. I write morally ambiguous characters who are pushed to their limits and take matters into their own hands. In my world getting away with murder has never been so much fun!
No matter what I write every one of my characters are real to me. They exist. They are three-dimensional beings who demand that their stories be told. If I were to turn away from them, they would haunt me; and so I don't. Instead I chase after them and write down everything they say!

Bone Deep is the second book in The Legend of Andrew Rufus by M. M. Crumley.
It's been interesting seeing inside Andrew's story. I know I said this after the last book, but there is such an obvious dichotomy between him and who Doc saw him as. Because this is the beginning of his journey, and I already can see it shaping him into the man I've read so much about through Doc's eyes.
The struggle that Andrew is facing adds such weight to the experience. Fighting between who he was before he ever met Pecos, Charles, Joe, and Doyle, and who he's slowly becoming after their influence. That he no longer feels at home in his reality, that the influence of whatever has pushed him into these traumatic experiences makes them feel more true.
I absolutely adore Widow Maker. That is a horse with so much personality. While I am surely sad over the loss of Dewmint, losing Widow Maker would be stronger. He's practically his own person.
I wonder what the darkness has in store for Andrew. How she will affect his life in the 21st century. Especially now that he's trying for normal. I imagine having horrible dreams filled with her will only make that more difficult. I wonder what great evil she will coax to attack him, or if she will simply target his sanity and resolve. What will this next book hold? And we will he be in his own body the next time he travels to the past?
Most interesting is in how his powers differ from Pecos... That he was able to heal, and coax the power to do his bidding with intention when it seems Pecos could do neither. Is that the White, or himself?
Now to be fair, this book isn't available until December, 2019; but since I'm the author, I've obviously read it. And it's amazing! I'm not kidding here. I mean it has wolves made of FIRE! That is so cool! No, wait, it's hot. Really hot, except when the wolves aren't around, then it's really cold 'cause it's winter; but hey, I can't tell you about the whole book, you'll have to read it.
But I will say, Andrew really steps up to the hero plate in this one. He makes me so proud.
Once you get into the first book it's easier for the story to grab your attention and hold it. Andrew is 13 and some how he keeps going back to the wild west and sharing the body of Pecos Bill. As they have an action packed adventure. It will keep you reading just to see how they win.
I felt that Andrew was a bit whiny in this book. Almost like he always needed to be patted on the back..maybe he was just so !ugh stronger in r first book....
Damn good reading!I couldn't hardly put it down.I,m looking forward to reading the next one,and then the rest!!!bar none!!! Can,t wait to dream about all this myself
