As M.M. Crumley I write Urban Fantasy books full of supernatural action, nail-biting-mystery and; laugh-out-loud humor. Why? Because stories, myths, and legends have always been a huge part of my life... As a child, I liked nothing better than to lose myself in a world where magic and heroes were part of the fabric of existence.

As my pen name M.M. Boulder I write psychological thrillers and murder mysteries that bring the darker impulses we may not feel completely comfortable with into the light. My stories are full of lies and deaths, but there is always justice. A type of justice that's not afraid to get its hands dirty. I write morally ambiguous characters who are pushed to their limits and take matters into their own hands. In my world getting away with murder has never been so much fun!

No matter what I write every one of my characters are real to me. They exist. They are three-dimensional beings who demand that their stories be told. If I were to turn away from them, they would haunt me; and so I don't. Instead I chase after them and write down everything they say!

5 The Element Of Surprise Stars

Instinct is the fourth book in The Immortal Doc Holliday series by M. M. Crumley.

I knew I was holding that fifth star for something special. This book was pure perfection. Boudica is an amazing addition to this story, and I can't wait to learn more about her. I hope she will eventually be able to talk, or mind speak, at least some form of communication beyond shrugs and nods.

But most importantly, all of this insight into the society of witches within this literary world has been enlightening. Specifically, diving into the Jury family and all that that entails. While Thomas Jury will always be my favorite member of this elitist family, I enjoyed discovering other jewels within. I can't wait to see what Margaret and Caden bring to this story now that they are at the head. I simply enjoyed too much all of the flashbacks outlining Doc and Jury's unique friendship. They were entertaining, and often hilarious.

I wonder what the tetrarch is really like? He's obviously evil incarnate, and very good at hiding it... The weirdness of everyone physically not even being able to mention a bad word against him was the biggest suspicion. But then there's all of the ways in which he so obviously is corrupt. Then there's this new man that brought the conclusion home, that has requested such an egregious favor of Doc, breaking the devil herself from her cage he said? Something to do with a Black Shaman?

There is nothing that Doc won't do to save his friend from a fate worse than death...
And you really don't want Doc Holiday coming for you. The only problem is he is on a one man collision course with the most powerful Witch family on the planet... They have numbers, a studied history and power, he has his charm, his cards, his knives and of course lady luck.
This is the fourth installment in what is turning out to be a wonderful must read series.
Fast paced, funny, dark and dangerous with loads of action, death and destruction. Doc is a hard hitting, whiskey drinking one man stop for justice, his kind of justice... But if you're his friend, then nothing will stop him from helping you. I am so looking forward to reading the rest of Doc's adventures.

This book was a wonderful read even thought I was having a hard time sitting down and enjoy reading it. Took me way longer to read due to life, not the story.

This book is the true meaning of what it means to be friends. Doc faces challenges for his friend and tries to make sure he doesn't do more harm in helping. His focus is on his friend and he proves he would do anything to keep his friend happy.

Docs perception of people is wonderful. Watching him decide on how to deal with someone and the thoughts that grow through his head is what I think all of us think sometimes.

While focusing on their friendship, the story keeps adding small bits for later. I may have gotten to the end of Instinct but we aren't at the end of the bigger arc.

This has been such a great series to get involved in. I tell people if you love a bit of Western and a bit of Magic and great storytelling, this is for you.

Thomas Jury and been taken against his will be his family because he is supposed to be married. Jury doesn’t want to marry and the witch he is betrothed to is not a nice person.
The Jury family is all about power and Thomas isn’t.
Doc knows his friend isn’t a willing participant and is out to rescue him no matter what, even going up against the most powerful witches in North America.
Doc has a big job ahead of him. With the help of a few new friends, some unconventional methods and plans and a lot of luck, he gets busy.
This book gives a lot of insight into the witch attitudes, especially the Jury family.
There is a fair amount of action, suspense, surprises, some humour but no real mystery this book. The interactions between Doc and Jury really are one of the best parts of these books.
It was an enjoyable read and the future is looking even more interesting.

Knew I would..

I just knew I would love this and I did. To enjoy I would strongly recommend that you start at the beginning of the series . I cannot wait for the next book only that's not till June 2022 soon have time to read the series about Andrew which was on my to read list. Highly recommend this author.

Go doc go

Lesson to be learned - if a friend of Doc Holliday is getting married, invite doc to the wedding. This series just keeps improving and Doc Holliday is a phenomenal immortal, anti hero. With hints at a tie in to another Crumley series, this book more than holds it own as a modern folk tale.

Another good read

It's hard to describe what I thought of the book. Doc is a very interesting... And entertaining character. He did things i did not expect. But it was entertaining to read about. I did enjoy the read. Now I just need to see what trouble him and Thomas get into next.

Now THIS book was great!

I really enjoyed this book bcz of Doc's friendship with T. Jury and it reminds me of myself and my best friend! Both clash, arguing back and forth back and forth, and it's SOOO fricken funny!

If you've read this far, keep reading bcz this proves that you'd go to the most extremes for a good friend!

Doc is a cool character to read. He's interesting and clever and good with kids, but some of the things he does, don't always feel like they make sense. Good books though

I really should just buy box sets of books when I fall into a book. The trouble with these e -books is that you never feel like you’re running out of pages. The Immortal Doc Holliday is addicting, fun, violent and naughty. Now, I need book 5.

Great series

Amazing another entry to Doc's life. We learn more about Jury's family. We also learn that Rot mites are a thing. To end it all, even the Hidden's politicians are corrupt as they can be. Though, who is this Black Shaman, and why does Doc call her a Devil?

This is a prime example of having a simplistic plot but filling it with such dynamic characters and drama to get the bang for your buck. This novel is very straightforward, Doc wants to save Jury from a marring woman who will eventually kill him. And he has to do it without killing those responsible.

Loved it. No complex drama, no elaborate plots. To the point action... lots of action.

The narrator, Micheal Cummings, was great.
