This was a gothic romance with an ancient curse. The first 75% of the story was slow and a ton of twists and turns and plot scares in the last quarter. The pacing felt way off in that regard. I didn’t connect with the characters or the writing style - which was the very definition of “flowery”. I’m sure it’s right for others but it just wasn’t right for me.
