Sally has finally cleared the new planet. Surely that means it’s ready for people to come and check out, right? Our shepherd still gets a vote. Come see how much effort it takes to get a good, used planet into livable shape.
I’m a house husband. I keep things together while my wonderful wife makes our living. I’ve worked as a machinist, short order cook, electronics assembly tech, and several other jobs. My hobbies include vehicle maintenance, (I’ve had the transmission out of my truck. Twice) free flight airplanes, electronics, and shooting. I was born and raised in the Ozarks, and now live in Mid-Missouri.
If the mind can conceive it Mr. Boyd can make a good story out of it. More than that he uses his country boy crew to get the job done. It is difficult to imagine a project of this scale but Mr. Boyd tells it as if it is just another job. This book would be enjoyable to anyone with an imagination big enough to accept the possibilities described. It is now not so difficult to imagine that our own moon could in fact be a spacecraft. Enjoy. I know I did.
I really enjoyed the story! The planet gave the BSR quite a workout! The were several juicy goodies in there and Shnitz is a Hoot! I am impatiently waiting the next issue!
Please study geology a bit before basing a book on it
Having read every book in the series so far, I have happily suspended disbelief and enjoyed the stories. The author has sustained a series of novels based on the original set of characters over 50 times. Very few authors can accomplish that. Bob and Nicky and their adventures, along with their vast array of friends are fun to read. The This is the first installment that has challenged that disbelief. The idea of geo engineering by use of rail guns from orbit is just silly. The idea of causing volcanoes is equally silly. Still love the series, won't give up on it, but this one really distracts.
This installment starts like many of the previous episodes with daily life and related issues being handled “the Bob Wilson way.” Even the discovery and planned excursion to a newly discovered planet are in line with past experiences. That changes when they arrive and the last quarter of the book is finding a resolution for an issue they didn’t expect. Of course it gets handled, the theme always tries to stay positive, and this book closes with a new expectation for the next episode.
This is another winner in this marvelous series. The characters are still strong. This book focuses on a beautiful planet that needs some help to carefully make it livable. As a person trained in geology it took a suspension for training to really enjoy this story but Jerry creates a consistent scenario within the book to make it okay the my training. It is his world after all. Enjoy his kind universe.
Another exciting episode in this Wonderful series!
This one was the most exciting adventure yet! I will not even attempt to provide a preview except to say that it EXCITING in the extreme. Is there angst and a high level of concern for a few of the main characters? That's definite and resounding YES. Does it lead to tension in all who read about it? Again a resounding YES! Will you need to read it to understand? Again, YES!!!
Found myself skipping pages just to get through this one. Basically know they found a planet with unstable seismic activity. They bombarded it to release the stressors. Moved a moon into orbit to gradually reduce any stress that might build up over time. Could have been done in a single chapter instead of dragging it out over a whole book. First one I have been truly bored with.
I believe BSR 's motto needs to be, the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible may take a bit longer. Zarathrustra is a problem planet, geologically unstable, with some creative thinking BSR solves the problems. A fun story all the was around! Looking forward to the next installment.
This is my favorite series to read and relax to. I put off reading the first book in the series because i thought it was going to be simple and boring. Little did I know it would turn out to be my favorite way to unwind and relax. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Going backwards...a terrific ending!! Build up was quality..as usual. I really like these books. Fun to read..enough references to current culture, and past culture! To keep interest..plenty of interesting characters from many species. Can't wait for next book!!
This installment ratcheted up a few notches and taps into planetary terraforming at a level above all previous plot lines. Outstanding flow and character involvement to keep you fully engaged. Read it and wait for the surprises to unfold. Onward to the next book!
I am confused about the science behind this story. The idea of a planet with no moon being subjected to earthquakes made me wonder if Venus is like that. I enjoyed thinking about the plot. I hope no one tries setting off nukes to cause earthquakes! Fun story, next please.
Fun read as always! Was hard to set this one down even when I needed to do other things. Some heavy duty work getting done. I kept having the song Fly Me to the 🌙 Moon running around in my head! Excited to see what they come up with next! Great book in a great series!
This is an interesting view on colonizing a new planet that is wanting to explode at anytime, so how to stop the volcanos from exploding? Place a moon in orbit very interesting ideas and the story ends too soon so I can't wait for the next one. Very involving story as always.
Every time I get the chance to read a Bob and Nikki book I think what can they do to make the story stretch my brain . well this has be most scientific mind bender so far. Love the progression of this universe and the sarcasm of living there
45 great books, Jerry. I look forward to number 46 in a couple of months I enjoy the references to old books and movies and the character interactions. . Keep up the good work
Come on you could have said how the planet took the change. And what about the rest of the things they had planned to do afterwards or do I have to wait four the next book.🤔😃 I loved it until the end, I just want more.
Not sure how an ol’ redneck manages to do such an outstanding job of amusing and titillating at the same time, but damned if ol’ Jerry don’t have the knack. From one redneck to another, Jerry, ya done good.
Can't help but impressed with the scope of the tasks set for BSR! I can't think of any time in my reading where a ship that big was involved. Oops Death Star!
Bob, Nikki, and the rest of the BSR fleet again do the impossible as easy peasy. Find a new habitable planet and find the hidden problems. BSR is on it. A great story.
I have heard of complex remodeling, but this is beyond the pale. Once again Jerry Boyd's writing skills reach another level. Keep all the fun and entertainment coming.
Ohhh to move a moon! I can't wait to see what the download from the ruins is going to tell them. I'm already getting bummed out knowing I'm getting to the end of the series.
Another great book by an author with an incredible imagination. I'm trying to keep up, but he just keeps writing more and more books... I'm not complaining, I would just enjoy more sleep. Keep it up Jerry
I must have read the Sheffield book back in the 80s or 90s, never would have placed it either, but as soon as they said "no moon" I knew the problem. Never would have guessed their solution though! Inventive and fun as always.
When the planet you want to use as a fall back location ends up a mess of seismic activity, what do you do? If you're Bob'sSaucer Repair you fix it. What a fun and exciting story. Start,at the beginning and join in the fun. Good book!
It seems like each book gets better and better The situations Jerry Boyd thinks up are amazing. I wait with bated breath each month for the next adventure
