As Mark tries to balance his private life and Amber, with his superhero life with good friend Eve, he is confronted with his biggest ever threat (well, bar his dad and his people), as Angstrom Levy strikes big-time! Elsewhere Immortal may be tying the knot! The Angstrom Levy story is a bit out there, but now we truly have a multi-dimensional reality! Oh, and Mark has a new relative! A 7 out of 12, Three Star read.

Finally, 30 issues in Marc begins to realize he's in the middle of a love triangle. Kirkwood deals with it really well even though this will drag on for awhile. In the midst of this, BAM!, the story shifts as an old threat returns to threaten Marc's mom and brother. These issues are intense, broken up by a couple of funny moments as Invincible stumbles across a couple of characters from the Big 2.What's great about this series is everything always feels planned out. Issues never feel like filler or padding. There's typically a reason for it that just may not pay off for several issues.

There are two issues collected in this volume that are GOLD. Like, peak Invincible. But there's also so much other stuff, not bad per se, that water down the goodness of it all. Also, my I hate Eve era starts here, I guess. I did not miss that part.

Invincible: Three's Company collects issues #31-#35.
As always, there are a lot of minor plot lines happening that tease things to come and keep things interesting. In this volume we have a trip to Africa, Robot's side job finally makes sense, we have a superhero patrolling the streets(I love that guy.) We have great, cute and personal moments between Mark and his family AND we get some precious hints to what can help against the viltrumites.
The most important thing, however, is the unexpected reappearance of an old face. This character changes the tone completely and things get dangerous for Mark and his family. I was scared and nervous and the story worked out so well, because, as Kirkman does in this series, he already had planted the seeds for this moment. He gave us the backstory and motivations of this character a few volumes ago and that's why the danger and threat of the situation is believable and the stakes are terrifying. But, even though I loved the confrontation, I do wish it could have expanded more because the pay off wasn't entirely satisfying and the last moments felt quite convenient... Still, it was one of the most thrilling moments of the series so far.
I'm so invested in the Grayson family and all of that is thanks to Kirkman's storytelling and writing.
As always, Invincible's strength comes from Mark as a character and his personal relationships. There are pretty good moments with his mom, with Amber, Cecil and even at the end with Art. This time Kirkman plays with the cliché of the love triangle, and I gotta say, I was very happy with the outcome and how Mark goes to Art to talk about it. It's such personal problem and we can subtly notice how Nolan's disappearing still affects Mark, more as a father than as anything else.
The Art by Ottley is great, I had fun looking at the multi-verse panels and I've been loving the artwork so far. It still captures the feel of the series and he does a great job with action scenes.

I love this volume for one real big reason. The big hostage situation.
I always battled with myself growing up. I always think I'm a pretty good guy, that I'd never step over that line. I'd never kill. However when I look at my wife, I just think if anything ever happen to her I'd go berserk.
We get to see Mark go fucking NUTS. It's one of the most powerful scenes in the series. Really pushes the series into new grounds. Mark is still growing, finding out who he is, and him having to deal with the aftermath of his decision is one of the best.
I also really love the talk with his pal, the suitmaker, and really getting a inseight to all his issues with his love life. We also get to see Eve again, who is amazing, and I LOVE it. The love triangle, weird figuring out who you love storyline, should hit home to anyone in a similar situation growing up.
Lots of great moments here and the series only gets better from here on out!

Wow that was intense.
World: Solid art that continues to make this series all its own. The sudden jarring violent flashed really stand out because of the art. The world building is also solid with new little pieces we get to see. The scope is still very small and character based but whag we get matters. I really like that.
Story: Starts off as a romantic comedy and relationship drama which is a fun read and pretty great. Then the book takes a turn and holy shit the stakes are different and emotions are high. Pretty amazing. The pacing is well done, the dialog is snappy and fun. There are instances that the book does info dump but it's not a lot. The end was also pretty great hinting at more drama.
Characters: This book was great for character. This was very Marcentric buts fine. We see him dealing with relationships and we also see him failing as a hero. We really see how young and naive he is here and that's great cause Mark does need to grow and that journey will be fun to read. The stuff with Robot is interesting and I can sense something boiling up and it will be good also.
Solid and emotionally charged.
Onward to the next book!

Just keeps going strong, the love triangle angle was so well handled- what if you found out your failure to return someone's love led them to suffer inadvertently for decades? See, not all timey-wimey plotlines have to revolve around earth shattering events or becoming your own grandfather...Sometimes the smaller, more intimate stakes make the story much more meaningful.
And that's just one facet of this volume! Honestly, there's lots going on here, including an extremely clever interdimensional battle.
Highly recommended, I'd give this particular volume 4.5 if that was actually a thing GR let us do. This dialogue alone...

One of the things I like most about this book is the way that it constantly teases at things and then gives a payoff several issues later. However, with this volume, I'm starting to feel like some of those payoffs are rushed and maybe not as satisfying as they could be.
Don't get me wrong, these are some great stories, but some things felt a little too "deus ex machina" for me. For example, Mark gets into a really tight spot after a battle and a whole crew just happens to arrive a few hours later to bail him out. Granted, there's some nice multiverse talk there that gives solid background, but it just feels like we'll never hear about those specific versions of these characters again. There's also a couple of tidbits of news delivered by them that make it seem all the more like a cheap plot device.
That aside, it's still a fun ride, and the setup for volume 8 is GREAT. Can't wait to see the Shapesmith story payoff. He's also got one of my favorite designs I've seen on these characters, after Eve and Mark of course. There's also some good buildup to what we all know is coming between Mark's crew and the Viltrumites. It's not going to be a quick ride, but I'm sure it will be worth the trip.

What a fantastic issue . It seems Invincible keeps getting better with each volume .
But before I start , can anyone confirm , are all the Invincible volume names derived from US TV shows ?
The main focus of the story was in developing the love triangle and the relationship between Mark and Amber and this was handled with the help of the suitmaker buddy of Mark , who acts like a father figure to advice Mark move ahead .
But between this relationship progression was a fantastically written Hostage situation which featured some cameos from a friendly neighborhood hero and a certain Dark Knight , those cameos aside the end of this Hostage scene was brutal and asked a big question of the No-kill policies of certain heroes and anger issues of the Viltrumite race .
There's also the developing relationship of Mrs Grayson and the alien baby and yet again we are shown the suffering that Mrs Grayson suffers for being in a super family and also shows the strength she possess to still be at the side of her son after all that suffering .
As I said , it's another fantastic issue , so far my favorite in the Invincible run , and I can't recommend this title highly Enough

Der perfekte Archvillain für Invincible.
Nach der Originstory von Angstrom Levy in Band 4+5 kommt nun sein erster Auftritt als richtiger Villain.
Und es ist ein wirklich cooles Konzept. Angstrom Levy ist besessen von Invincible und weiß durch seine Fähigkeiten nun alles über ihn was ihn so verwundbar wie nie zuvor macht. Außerdem treibt er Invincible dazu weit über seine moralischen Grenzen hinauszugehen und der damit einhergehende innere Konflikt von Invincible ist sehr nice. Der artstyle und die Panels sind in dem fight auch echt kreativ und gut umgesetzt. Da Angstroms Fähigkeiten (multidimensional travel) sehr komplex sind überlege ich noch ob alles schlüssig ist, allerdings denke ich dass vieles auch einfach Auslegungssache ist und am Ende ist es sowieso ein Comic so who cares.
Nebenher läuft noch die Story von Robot die ich als sehr positiv in Erinnerung habe allerdings frage ich mich gerade ob dieses ganze mysteriöse Getue am Ende überhaupt relevant war aber das seh ich dann wohl am Ende.
Marks Privatleben ist auch interessanter denn je.
Der reveal am Ende des Bandes ist Immernoch so cool in meinen Auge. Das aus so einem kleinen Detail im Handumdrehen so ein relevantes Plot device gemacht wird ist für mich amazing.

This was a fun volume! It starts off with Mark and Amber going to Africa to meet up with eve and learn that her powers are growing and she can molecular-shift things and then he gets a call that his mom is under attack and turns out its Armstrong Levi so its upto Mark to save her but the villain is sending him through portals to another universes and yep he meets Spidey, Bats, TWD-verse, it was a fun one and I loved the segment but then there is the big threat of Levi and then the way he defeats him is brutal and he kills him and then rescue and going back to his reality and then dealing with PTSD of that and talking with Arthur (tailor) about it, that part was also funny when he is having girl troubles because of Eve and Amber. But the main thing is the real identity of Robot and that was shocking, seems like he will be a big threat down the line. Overall great volume, good character explorations and credible threats and love life questions meanwhile we stretch out Mark's character a bit more.

Why does the dialogue have to be so lengthy? There is barely anything happening. There are long scenes where the story feels like a teen drama. This volume doesn't feel like a proper arc, just another buildup for something.
Mark takes Amber to visit Eve in Africa. He is soon forced to return home where Angstrom Levy is keeping his mother hostage.
The guy behind Robot has the Mauler twins clone him a body that he uses to infiltrate the Guardians. Meanwhile Mark is having girlfriend troubles. He is also reading his father's old scifi books for clues on how to defeat the Viltrumites.

A good volume! I love the teleportation fight with Angstrom Levy - a very creative use of dimension-hopping ability that leads to some important revelations when Mark is teleported to the future and meets an older Atom Eve. Character-defining choices are made when Mark All in all, a title that's not afraid to shake up its own status quo.

It's so weird reading this in a day, knowing I waited a month for it on Libby, and I'll probably wait another month for the next volume. I guess it's a testament to how much I enjoy them.

Just wow about Angrstrom Levi. What a great villain. Also enjoying the developing three-way that we KNEW had to happen from the very start but we've been fortunate to have EVERYTHING else get in the way so it's not overpowering any of the plot. :)

Nice one. The plot is developing at a better pace now, as compared to previous volumes and it's evident that the characters are being given more time and effort for the past two volumes or so. Excited to see where this goes.

I'm really enjoying the Invincible series by Robert Kirkman - the characters are interesting, and Kirkman throws in plenty of inside jokes for those who have been reading comic books for a long time. He does a nice job of playing up the best parts of comic books, while subverting some of the tropes so often found in DC and Marvel books.

Sigue el equilibrio bien medido entre la vida personal de Mark Greyson, sus amores y dudas, y las peleas de Invencible. Un tebeo de esos que si uno lee en la adolescencia le engancha al cómic de superhéroes de por vida. Como aquel Spiderman de los 70, pero moderno, con una complejidad de personajes mayor. Pijameo con profundidad. Muy importante la mejora del trabajo de Ottley, que lleva ya unos cuantos números a la altura de lo que Kirkman ha puesto en sus manos.

Este volumen es simplemente superior.
Muchas cosas que no entendía empezaron a cobrar sentido, lo cual hizo que la lectura se me hiciera adictiva.
Mark ha crecido mucho como personaje, y eso que es recién es el vol.7, pero a pesar de todo, sigue siendo un joven que se obligó a crecer, tiene sus problemas en su vida personal y nuevas responsabilidades.
El final de volumen me dejó con ganas de seguir para saber que pasará jajaja

A more chill volume after the insane viltrumite fight in the last one (except for that one thing, you know the thing)
It pays off some of the setup with the Martian and angstrom but it's mostly and unabashedly setup for the rest of the series. An act one finale. Which makes it kinda fitting that the pact #4 is included here, a story very much of the first few 2 or 3 volumes when mark was basically knock off ultimate Spiderman

Kirkman má v Invinciblovi jeden zásadní problém, buduje nějakou vedlejší linku neskutečně dlouho a pak vše vyšumí během jednoho čísla a já si jen říkám "to je vše? Na tohle mě Robo teasuje minimálně 3 knížky?". Je to škoda, přitom ty věci co převádí jsou super, jenom to působí nekonzitentně, což je tady asi jediná vada na kráse.

I just read Invincible Vol 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 in one sitting on a long flight. After reading Vol 1 and 2 a few days ago. Does that say enough? Delightful in every way. I'm a fan like I haven't been a fan since Spidey in my teens.
