It is widely recognized that eugenics has a track record of harmful policies, beginning with sterilization of mentally ill people and culminating in the Holocaust. What is less recognized is that the flaws in eugenics are surprisingly subtle, and with remarkably minor changes certain core values---like making the human race better---can be rescued from these terrible consequences.
