Once again - another new to me author and no-one has told me about them!? Especially when they write such fecking phenomenal dark books!!
N.O. One writes this book like a damn movie. One Kill plays out like you are watching every scene unfold. J is one tough cookie and is not to be messed with. There's a reason she's known as The Shadow.
The blurb gives you all need to know. There is so much more that unfolds in this story and I am not about to give one iota of it away.
If you love dark, suspenseful mafia romances, then this book is for you. Please read the TW because not everyone can stomach everything in dark romance.
That's it - that's my review on this. Just go buy the damn book and thank me later. Oh yea- this is duet and the cliffhanger is WOW.

Whaaaaat…?!? This was such a different type of mafia romance. I love that the FMC is the total bad @ss that she is. I love that there’s a kind, cool guy who isn’t into all the games, crime and violence.
It’s a really engaging story, I had not read this duo of authors books previously and I’m so glad I have now.
This is a great revenge, second chance story full of surprises and secrets (I still don’t know all obviously.)
It has emotions that are a bit brutal, I kind of feel emotionally wrung out, yet I’m excited for the next and final book. I felt for the characters so, obviously I love them and I connected with their story.
It has tons of heart, great heated chemistry and beautiful found family of secondary characters.
There’s grittiness, it’s not excessive in my opinion.
I really love the three primary characters so much. I think the authors did such a great job developing them. They are very multifaceted and so likable. I love their dynamic together.
I really enjoyed this story, I love the writing style and the story. I cannot wait for the conclusion as I’m an emotional wreck. Bring it on! I’m ready!

Wow. I just closed this book (on my kindle) and I need a minute to process, grieve, and cry. I’ve been crying since I hit the 91% mark and damn it! I was not expecting all of that!
I love how genuine the relationship between the characters feels, slow build to the spice, made it feel very real. It didn’t just rush into spicy scenes for the sake of it. The plot is great, the backstory to the main characters is heart wrenching and, the way it was told kept in interesting.
I love the FMC, she’s a complete badass and I could absolutely empathize with her and felt she was relatable. Don’t even get me started on the MMC, Murphy, he is a dreamboat. His fierce love for Hallie and J is so special and heartwarming. Normally I don’t read books with a parent-trope but this book made it feel so genuine and real I wouldn’t have it any other way. I also love that the main characters aren’t young 20 something’s instead they’re around 30.
This is a much read. But, don’t say I didn’t warn you…. You’re going to need a box of tissues & a soft blanket to hide in when you need to take a break from the absolute shattering last section of the book.

Man… THIS BOOK🤯
When I tell you, I haven’t ever been so invested in a book character than I am with Jordyn. The pain she endured at such a young age is heartbreaking and the way she carries herself throughout this book is admirable.
There were too many twists to this story, I found myself WTAF’ing out loud on multiple occasions 😩
I devoured this book in 2 days (for me, this is unheard of) and obviously, added points for the FMC having the same name as me🥹 Love, love, love, loveeeeed it… Now onto book 2 and I’m not 100% sure I’m ready for it

I was in, the moment I "met" Jordyn aka J, how strong and ruthless she is. But then when you are the capo for the Italian Mafia and were the second in command to the Mafia Boss, then you would be the deadliest one.
She's called the Shadow and for good reason as she's crazy dangerous and precisely best at what she does.
Jordyn's past is nothing less than a nightmare but when she escaped her horrific tragedy, she became the deadly weapon that she is today.
The only turn she didn't see coming was coming face to face with the past she had left behind.

One Kill by N.O. One is book one of The Reapers series and ends on a significant cliffhanger. It is related to The Escort series and has crossover characters but can be read independently.
J is a machine. She works, she f*cks, and she k!lls if necessary. She does it all without a hint of emotion. Her heart was ripped out over a decade ago when her family was murdered. Now she goes about life much like the chemicals she uses to clean up the crime scenes of the Italian mafia: harsh, abrasive, and corroding. She remains apart never letting anyone get too close.
All of J’s unaffected disinterest are put to the test when she is surprised by the arrival of a daughter she believed had passed away. Along with Hallie comes Murphy, her father, the only man that J’s ever loved. The two begin to decimate the walls that J has so carefully constructed around her heart. Unfortunately, not everyone is happy about this family reunion. Old grudges and mafia debts never die, leaving the trio vulnerable.
This book was an absolute roller coaster of emotions. It was fast paced, gripping, steamy, and an incredible read. It also ripped the beating heart out of my chest, threw it on the ground, and did a merry little jig on top of it for good measure. If you haven’t already picked up this book, I urge you to do so. You will fall in love with these characters and be swept up in their turbulent lives. I am hanging on the edge of the cliffhanger ending by my fingernails until book two - One Love. A brilliant mafia romance read.

This is the first book by these authors that I have read but it definitely won’t be the last! Oh, holy Batman, this story is fantastic. It hooked me in immediately and I was completed absorbed in the story until the last page.
Jordyn O’Neill, or J as she is now known, is such a strong, determined woman—but working for the Italian mafia requires a level of toughness and J has it in spades. Her Irish family background was her family’s downfall and she ran from them. Now, she is caught between a rock and a hard place. Honestly, I have no idea how J is going to get herself out of the mess she finds herself in—over and over. I truly like her character and enjoyed seeing the changes she goes through as the story progresses.
Not wanting to give away anything, as this is such a great story, I just want to say there are some incredible action scenes that have you reading as fast as possible. I also found myself sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation or/fear. The emotions are strong and you feel them deep in your heart. There are some twisty surprises, too, I am not ashamed to admit that I did have tears creeping down my cheeks in one particular part. The writing of this is so poignant and, yes, while upsetting and I did question things, I know it has its purpose.
Bring on the second book, One Love.

OMG , WTF. I need the next book now. My mind is going crazy and I can't stop crying. This book took me on such an awesome emotional rollercoaster. I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. J is so strong , sassy and independent and I just love her , but my heart is breaking for her. I am eagerly waiting the next book, J is going to kick some @ss I can't wait for that. Amazing five-star read.

It’s been a hot second since I have had the opportunity to read a new book by N.O. One, but let me tell you it is worth the wait. These two have the talent of writing like a movie, I mean it’s so visual and engrossing that you feel like you are on the back of J’s bike, or eating lasagna in Murphy’s kitchen. I just can’t say enough about their writing style.
So now for the actual story, this is book one of a duet, and it’s all about J. If you have read any of N.O. One’s books, you know J, and some of us want to be her. She is the epitome of bada$$, but she is a product of her family history. And in this duet her history smashes into her present and shakes even the most unshakable of characters. And that’s all I’m going to give you, you need to read this one and find out what happens all on your own.
Here is my disclaimer: this is part 1, so there isn’t a happy ending, but part 2 isn’t too far out. So don’t wait, go grab this one, devour it in a day like I did.

ARC review:
I did not know what I was expecting when I started reading this, but whatever it is, I was completely blown away with this story. I have so many highlights and amazing quotes from this book, and I will think about this story for a long time.
There are secrets, action, banter, wonderful characters, a deep emotional connection, and well-thought-out plot. Also, some quite severe heartbreaks - both in the past (I sobbed reading the flashbacks) and in the present. I can’t believe the ending - I am now left in suspense for the next two months waiting to see what agony and challenges J will be put through and what way the authors will let this one go.
Back then, I followed my father everywhere he went. If a boy could do it, I could do it, and my dad was completely on board with that line of thought.
This story follows J (Jordyn O’Neill) who is now the capo of the Reapers Crew in the Italian mafia - a total badass!! She grew up in the vicinity of the Irish mob, but something terrible happened and she had to run away and start over. She thought all that she had from back then was lost and forgotten, but she is surprised when her past comes back to change her whole life. She was so strong, and handled the change very beautifully and embraced her new role - it cannot have been easy! Also, her sarcastic inner monologue is amazing, and along with some funny and witty one-liners, there is some fun in this story as well as angst and action.
I hate to offend my elders but a girl’s gotta do her job.
I loved Murphy and his daughter Hallie, who are both so amazing characters, with a very strong sense of family. Murphy is incredible, he has been a single father for so long, but he is still open to love and second chances. Hallie is also such a strong and sassy girl, who provides a lot of fun and wholesomeness to this story. J’s crew is also very awesome, and I really enjoyed the found family they have, the teasing and banter, the respect, the protectiveness and most of all the unconditional trust and loyalty.

There is a lot of secrets and mystery surrounding what went down years ago and how it all plays a role in the present. Some questions are answered throughout, but there is still a lot that is up in the air - the casino and the guys there, the texter, the crew and of course the cliffhanger. I had to write the authors after I finished reading to vent some frustrations (and my love of this book), and they promise the heartbreak is worth it in the end. With their writing I trust them implicitly to bring J and Hallie (and me) happiness in the end. Lastly, when the title of the book was mentioned in talking, all just made sense! - I won't share, because I think this is best if you experience all of it for yourself.

Hallie is also such a strong and sassy girl, who provides a lot of fun and wholesomeness to this story. J’s crew is also very awesome, and I really enjoyed the found family they have, the teasing and banter, the respect, the protectiveness and most of all the unconditional trust and loyalty.
“The van. I have a feeling we’re gonna need a shit load of products. Apparently, The Butcher had an ax to grind. Or… a knife to whet?”

There is a lot of secrets and mystery surrounding what went down years ago and how it all plays a role in the present. Some questions are answered throughout, but there is still a lot that is up in the air - the casino and the guys there, the texter, the crew and of course the cliffhanger. I had to write the authors after I finished reading to vent some frustrations (and my love of this book), and they promise the heartbreak is worth it in the end. With their writing I trust them implicitly to bring J and Hallie (and me) happiness in the end. Lastly, when the title of the book was mentioned in talking, all just made sense! - I won't share, because I think this is best if you experience all of it for yourself.
“So, tell me, Murph. What made you get in your truck at… One thirty in the morning?”
“You.”
“Me, huh?”

This is the first book by these authors that I have read but it definitely won’t be the last! Oh, holy Batman, this story is fantastic. It hooked me in immediately and I was completed absorbed in the story until the last page.
Jordyn O’Neill, or J as she is now known, is such a strong, determined woman—but working for the Italian mafia requires a level of toughness and J has it in spades. Her Irish family background was her family’s downfall and she ran from them. Now, she is caught between a rock and a hard place. Honestly, I have no idea how J is going to get herself out of the mess she finds herself in—over and over. I truly like her character and enjoyed seeing the changes she goes through as the story progresses.
Not wanting to give away anything, as this is such a great story, I just want to say there are some incredible action scenes that have you reading as fast as possible. I also found myself sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation or/fear. The emotions are strong and you feel them deep in your heart. There are some twisty surprises, too, I am not ashamed to admit that I did have tears creeping down my cheeks in one particular part. The writing of this is so poignant and, yes, while upsetting and I did question things, I know it has its purpose.
Bring on the second book, One Love.

I was curious about this book when I read the blurb because it's different to what you normally see. J is a hired killer, the first female capo and she wears that title with pride. She has a no-nonsense attitude and she's as tough as nails. She tells it like it is and doesn't pull any punches, she's also heavy on the cuss words, not a problem for me, but for some it may be.
She's got a past, one she thought was gone, only to have some of it show back up with the most unexpected surprise! This certainly was a different spin and I won't elaborate because I don't want to give away too much. To say J is shocked is an understatement, she ran from her past because she was trying to protect people she cared about. She has a lot to process and she's not sure what to do.
I think J would be an acquired taste for some! She's definitely bad a $$
Murphy is a sweetheart. I loved their interactions, it was like he and Hallie were teaching J emotions and what love feels like.
This story went from 0 -60 so fast! The second half was full of suspense and white knuckling my e-reader because it was getting tenser by the minute. The authors do a great job keeping your interest, I was fully invested and then all hell broke loose!
To say I'm an emotional wreck is an understatement!!! I absolutely was not expecting that! And I'm a crying mess!!! I cannot believe it! I kept reading thinking there was some kind of mistake! But then the action kicks up again in time for a cliff-hanger!! Argh!! I need book 2!!

Jordan AKA J is one of the baddest FMCs I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, she's the Capo of her own mafia group, and also known as The Shadow, and that tells you everything you need to know. In a man's world she has had to learn to hold her own, and she does it so well!
It certainly hasn't been an easy ride for J, I don't want to give anything away but as more secrets about her past get exposed the clearer things become, and you learn why and how she was moulded into what she's become today
Enter Murphy, her long lost childhood sweetheart, the man she saw he life with before everything got turned upside down. They're both different people today, but their connection was clear as day through the pages, and they couldn't resist the magnetism that pulls them together

I devoured this quick and easy read in one night!! This is another new author for me well it's two authors together, but I really enjoyed this story from start to finish.
The main woman in this story is J aka Jordyn and wow is she strong and a total badass!!! She's capo for the Italian Mafia and she's a deadly one at that her nickname is The Shadow and for a good reason as she's dangerous and can disappear quickly. J's past is a hard one to read her parents murdered in front of her when she was 16 so she had to run to escape being killed herself but never knew after all these years that she would come face to face with the past she once thought she left behind.
That past she left behind comes in the form of Murphy and his daughter Hallie.....oh my god honestly Murphy will make your panties melt right off!! J's first and only real true love comes barreling right back into her life!!! With the job she does and the life she leads, she doesn't want to put Murphy in danger or Hallie as we find out in the first chapter that secret you or even J didn't see coming at all!!!!
All in all such a fantastic start to a duet and just when I think all questions have been answered then that ending happens!!!! I honestly can't wait for book two!!!! Bring it on!!!!

Ok. I have absolutely loved this series from start to finish. And when I saw there was a book about J, I jumped on it. Let me just say, I unfortunately wasn't a fan of this book. I feel that it was a disservice to J as a character and what I've gotten to see of J throughout the other books. I feel she made very dumb decisions that don't fit with her thinking.
I do absolutely adore the motherly instincts she has for Hallie. That is probably the only reason I finished it. But everything else? That's not the J I know and love. The decisions she made in regards to Murphy and Hallie, the feeling that she disregarded threats, and potential issues for their safety. She didn't play smart, and I'm sorry, that's not J to me.
At the end of the day, it's still a good book, but I'm unsure if I really want to read the next part of her story. I'm so disappointed in the character development. But the authors do a great job in writing a fast paced insane book. The Escort series was just stunning and these authors have a fan for life!

I really enjoyed this take of mafia, it was refreshing to see a bad ass heroine being the main focus of the mafia life. Usually we are so used to the morally grey, filthy dark guys who are the leaders of the underworld but this book was different.
This is J’s story and I really enjoyed the first part of this duet, all is not what it seems and that cliffhanger at the end had me gobsmacked and left with an afterthought of what is going to happen next for these characters.
The filth in this book was very tame to what I’m usually used to but made sense with the plot of this story that it was this way as their was a lot of plot to unfold.
This book for me was definitely a one sitting type of read and I was able to have this book read within a few hours.

Heat level: 3/5. If you're new to N.O. One, go back and read The Escort series and Kings of Kink first because this duet follows those and has MAJOR spoilers. If I wasn't dead inside, I would've been crying myself to sleep last night. Still had me tearing up and left me like a damn fish with my mouth opening and closing without any noise coming out. Why are you like this? A female head of a mafia gang would definitely go through some crazy shit to be as badass as she is, but damn. I didn't expect J's past to be THAT insane. This be some serious shit. And that ending.... whoa. You'll feel like you're riding one of those rides that slowly brings you up before dropping you into space without any warning. Book 1 of 2 so no HEA here. You've been warned. * slow claps like Heath Ledger's Joker * very well done, queens.

OMG! This story made my cry! Violent story about Jordyn who's family was gunned down during a bit thirteen years ago. She birthed her daughter through that tragedy and laid her cold body with her deceased parents. Every year, on the anniversary, she visits the same diner in New Jersey.
This year however, she meets a girl called Hallie who claims she is her daughter. Her Dad has been looking after her all these years and presumed Jordyn was dead. Jordyn explains that she thought Hallie was dead so left her and him who was her boyfriend at the time, because she didn't want anyone to get hurt.
She became a Cappo and they became her family. Working for the Mob she mainly cleaned up their messes but had experience also of killing people too.
This heart-wrenching story ends on a cliff-hanger and is overshadowed by sadness. 😭

SO MUCH EMOTION!!
What an absolute phenomenal read! This book ripped my heart to shreds and then stomped on what was left in such an exquisite way. J is everything I wanted and more - Murph was a pleasant surprise, and this is like a reverse of my all time favorite trope which shouldn’t even be possible but of course the authors pulled it off with flying colors! We start out with what feels like steam and ends up with intrigue, and the entire book is non freaking stop!! I love reads where there is no lull, no filler, and this book was go go go from word one until the end. I have suspicions about the anonymous texter and I can’t wait to find out if I’m right! If you like heat, mafia reads, secret baby trope, second chance romance, revenge, action, found family - you’re going to devour this!

Holy Jesus, this was hands down one of the best books I’ve read. The actual emotional connection was incredible. I’ve been wondering what J’s story was I would have never thought this was it, but my God it is heart wrenching. Murphy is absolutely perfect in every way, and J is doing her best to make it in life. However, once she finds out what she was wrong about, her growth is amazing! I was on edge from page 1 until closer to the end when it turned into sobbing. I have no idea how the ladies are going to make up for that ending but I am ready because this was brutal. I’m beyond ready for January and One Love!
Also, the updates on previous characters was amazing and I loved every bit of it!

N.O. One has done it again! This book will consume you. If you have anything you need to accomplish today, be warned, nothing else will matter once this book has you in its clutches.
These lovely, (slightly sadistic), ladies write in such a way that you can’t help but feel like you are a part the world they have built. You get sucked in and can only come up for air once you’ve reached the end. The character development is hands down some of the best I’ve read so far. The emotional connection between J and Murphy is unbelievably powerful. You will feel EVERYTHING. That cliffhanger had me ready to throw my kindle at the wall, the only reason I didn’t is because I know they will mend my broken heart with the next one. I highly, highly recommend this book and all books written by N.O. One!

I loved the intro of J back in the Escort series but she is oh so much more in this first book of her duet. Her story is so heart breaking and tragic that it had me in tears multiple times throughout. I was so looking forward to seeing her get everything she deserved but fate is cruel. Crazy good is a book that can make you experience all the stages of grief/loss right along with the characters. I don’t think I’m going to be able to wait for the conclusion of this duet. I also am excited to see that there are more upcoming books listed for the rest of The Reapers because I really really love them all too.

Getting to know J and her reapers is fantastic and all of the characters are so well written. J is a real badass; she has fought and overcome everything that life has thrown at her. Despite her tragic history she still has a beautiful heart and so much love. Seeing her in love and as a parents is heartwarming and really shows the human side of J.
As always it's always a bonus to get a glimpse of Marco and River and an update on their lives. I love that River and J have a great relationship.
The spice is perfectly written and balanced for the story and is 🔥🔥🔥
