This 'bumper book' provided me a wonderful meander down memory lane. Like Paddington, I enjoy marmalade on my morning toast.

I love how Paddington bear becomes one of the Brown family and enjoys the give and take of family life. He is another sibling for Judy and Jonathan who come to his rescue on occasion.

Indeed, Paddington goes on adventures and gets into the sort of scrapes that children can identify with and make adults smile, usually when it's happening to someone else's children.

These are delightful stories with happy endings, just perfect for sharing with the little ones in your life.

I don’t know when I last read Paddington stories. But this collection seems very good value indeed. In fact, it would be an excellent idea to keep a copy of this book in one’s suitcase or under one’s hat (for emergencies).

Things really are always happening to Paddington. Included in this volume are many of the ultimate classics: conjuring outfits, dumplings, baths, toffee, The Porchester, modom, chimneys, haircuts, saunas, elevenses, wallpaper, auctions, department store windows, serving hatches, and of course ample amounts of special marmalade from the cut-price grocer—all presented with the original color illustrations by Peggy Fortnum. Through it all, Paddington remains a hopeful bear at heart.

But it omits some of our favorites, too. The book receives a particularly hard stare for leaving out “Lucky for Some,” with Ronnie Playfair. (It’s not quite enough to give the book a reputation in the neighbourhood for meanness.) And it gets a stern “What are you doing, bear?” for including two stories about the Browns’ holiday in France.

Overall, though, there’s nothing more pleasant than spending time looking after this young bear gentleman from Peru. (Darkest Peru.) There is no doubt that it’s nice to have a book of bear stories about the house—especially bear stories about Paddington. (And I don’t expect there are many other bears in the world called that!)

(Writing this review has of course resulted in more ink on the bedsheets than on the review—it’s a bit difficult with paws—so I’d better stop now.)

The stories are fun and very enjoyable, but this collection has put random stories out of order, which is frustrating. I will have to track down the original books to get them in the correct order.

This was the cutest little book ever. A friend of mine told me that Paddington 2 was the best movie of all time. So, while at my other friend’s house, i found a book called The Paddington Treasury. I read it all within an hour. YeS, this is a childrens book, but it is very sweet and has a lot of lessons and themes. I freakin love childrens books by the way.

Here is my favorite line:
“Now,” said Mrs Brown, “you must tell us all about youself. Im sure you must have had lots of adventures.”
“I have,” said Paddington earnestly. “Things are always happening to me. Im that sort of a bear.” He settled back in the armchair. Pg 36

I feel like Paddington fr fr. Theres just always something happening to me and it is what it is. This line went hard and i almost cried

So much fun with Paddington Bear from Darkest Peru. The girls give hard stares like he does, tried marmalade (they were not impressed), and like to pretend they have suitcases with secret compartments.

We checked this out from the library and had to get it two different times, for the max time of 6 weeks each time. The book is split into parts, but it is a compilation of stories from lots of different books, rather than being a collection of several books in a row. If that makes sense. For example, several stories from one book would be included, but in different parts and split up from one another, with stories from other books between.

Elaina said “Mr. Gruber, and taking a bath”
Evie said “I liked Paddington taking baths and going to the restaurant.”

They were great Paddington stories, and I loved them as much as I did when I was a child. However, this book is clearly meant to be read as a set of short stories, with them separated into categories with like-topiced stories together. I'd much rather read them in their original novels - for instance here there was a chapter when Paddington went to the department store to buy everyone Christmas gifts, and it was 100 pages later in a different section where he actually gave them out. Mr. Gruber first appeared in a story where there was no explanation as to who he was, and subsequent stories often times skipped months or years and then went back again, making it seem confusing. I'd really like to go re-read all the novels now so the plots make sense, although my love for Paddington and his adventures and subsequent troubles will never wane.

Too much hyped. Nothing great as such. First 2-3 stories would amuse you but later it is just sort of repetition. Much better options are available for today's kids to amuse themselves. Might have been good in old times.

Keeping a record for my 4yo. She loved this treasury so much. She laughed at some of Paddington’s adventures, had lots of questions about his adventures, and overall simply enjoyed each adventure Paddington went on.

We love Paddington. This treasury was about half and half really charming and funny stories and some that were more slow and “meh”.

I got this book too on my shelves and I read a lot of Paddington tales but not sure everyone of them in here. One day I'll go through this one over the span of a whole year.

I remember my dad reading these stories to me. And I still love them. I like having lots of stories all in one. So for me this book is special, and always will be. Paddington is the sort of bear I should like to meet. He is funny and lovable, with a nose for mischief. This is a good book to read to kid before bed time. It near the top of my favorites.

This has been a really fun read aloud with my third grader. Simpler than books he reads for himself, but there is a little language barrier with the British English used and that it has some older traditions ie milkman, so it works to read together. I love how innocent and yet funny Paddington turns out to be in every story.

Paddington's adventures open for all to read. The adventures of this bear are fun and exciting and very English! Paddington is classic, the tale of a now historic England where a bear is left alone with his luggage at Paddington Station and is adopted by the Brown family. Adventures, hilarity and laughter as this bear learns to fit into human society!

I discovered Paddington and his adventures when I was in first or second grade. Paddington's adventures always entertained me and I became a huge Paddington fan. I remember receiving a Paddington necklace and ring set for my birthday, I was that big of a fan of his stories.

As a lover of teddy bears, I found the stories and illustrations a delight. Some may think that they are stories for children only but I do believe that they are stories for the child in all of us. I plan on reading these again to my granddaughter.

A childhood favorite that I shared with my kids. Each night we read a chapter and giggled about Paddington's misadventures.
