Updated Review 7/14/25: I love this series so much! Coming back to it for what is AT LEAST the seventh time now, it brings me just as much as joy as the very first time I read it!
However, I enjoyed this round of reading so much because not only had it been a while since I read this volume, but because of how obviously jealous Ichikura is!
And how much Momo doesn't see/get it! LOL!
Though I will give her MAJOR credit because I LOVED how she realized pretty quickly there was a misunderstanding, and refused to let it be drawn out! She wanted to make that sure Ichikura knew who she ONLY has feelings for and make those feelings known to him (even if she is super shy). It was wonderful and deeply appreciated it because I feel it didn't hinder the story at all as is we got some of the biggest smiles we've seen from Ichikuara yet!
I also LOVE the new character on the scene and how cute he is! Lots of fun moments with him that made me laugh and smile!
And honestly, this entire volume pretty much had me grinning! I love these characters so much and I can't wait for the next volume!!
Original Review 5/13/24: Soooo I ended up caving and bought all the available chapters on K MANGA because I'm so obsessed with this series! LOL!
IT WAS SO WORTH IT!!
I absolutely LOVED this volume and how if their were any "issues" such as miscommunication, it's cleared up quickly and keeps the story flowing in a really fun way. SUPER appreciated that because I'm hear for all the delinquent shenanigans and boy did that ending have one! LOL!
Very much another fun volume! Loved the summer festival and the school festival!
There’s nothing worse than a manga brought down by a single moment that is so ill-advised that it makes you wonder how it went through editorial with nobody noticing. The moment here isn’t quite that bad, perhaps, but it did take me right out of the story.
Which is a shame because this continues to be a really fun time for a story that was meant to be done in two volumes (that explains the ending and bonus pages last time).
Momose and Ichikura being forced to help at the festival is a brutally funny set-up, which leads to both the expected romantic moments along with Ichikura happily re-interpreting his promise to not fight any more so he can take down a bunch of punks.
It’s such a fun scenario for them to play off one another and they’re such a good pairing. From Ichikura’s bottomless appetite and Momose’s constant short circuiting to Ichikura’s crazy talent for carnival games (this has the funniest fishing game sequence I’ve ever seen), there’s a lot of great stuff.
The follow-up is also a great time, as the thug who kidnapped Mimose transfers to their class, but not for the reasons you’d suspect. This is one of the more clever takes on the No Hope Rival I’ve seen in ages.
Precisely because he isn’t a rival. Igarashi is there because he wants to be friends with Ichikura, not due to any designs on Mimose. And Mimose knows that as well, but she wants Igarashi to fit in and Ichikura to be able to stay as the brainy nerd he’s become. So she meddles.
Which is very thoughtful, except she forgets to talk to Ichikura about any of this and, as they all manage to get everything wrong, the jealousy that has no need to actually exist starts building.
It makes for a pretty good time, minus the moment where Ichikura manhandles Mimose to remind her that she’s his. The sentiment is okay, simply because that reverse declaration happened already, but the physicality is drawn so harshly that I found it really off-putting.
That’s dang unfortunate because it is the thing I’m going to remember most from this volume and there’s a lot more good than bad. It’s just silly enough and charming enough, when it isn’t grabbing faces, to be a real satisfying way to spend some reading time. If you aren’t bothered by it the same way, it’s as good as it’s always been.
Everything else, including a sports day team up for great justice and Mimose’s mental image of Igarashi, works really well. My ratings on this keep slipping, but I do think it’s one of the better shojo I’m reading right now.
3.5 stars - if it wasn’t for that moment, I’d absolutely round this up. It’s going to be one of those things that doesn’t bother everybody, but I felt it was a bit much and couldn’t personally get over it. Otherwise recommended.
This volume started and ended with some of the cutest scenes in this series yet. I've had mixed feelings throughout volumes one and two, but this one won me over. I'll be reading more of it.
Loved it! Jealous Ichikura was the best, Momose is falling harder for him and he wants her all to himself. I like that Igarashi is now friends with them, he doesn’t seem like a bad guy, more awkward than anything. Now everyone in the school knows that Ichikura is a delinquent? I need more volumes!
those tiktok edits were a LIE 😭😭😭 i think this marks the end of the manga i'm actually confused (it didn't end on a cliffhanger, it's just super short lol)
anyway ichikura's hotness was carrying the rest of this manga and its popularity i'm not surprised bc he really is attractive tho but i'm not so sure if it speaks for the entire manga bc tbh it's not that something noteworthy of? (except of course the romance bit)
it could have certainly done better with more depth but i guess this was created intended for those who wanted an insane short read (which isn't for me bc i want more of that development and build up of both the plot and the characters)
A fun and quick read or it was quick because it was a lot of fun. 😁 Ichikura and Momose help at a festival as part of their club and we get a transfer student and sports day all in one volume! Igarashi transfers to Ichikuras annoyance and thinks it’s because he likes Momose so jealousy comes into play a bit and makes the story cute as she tries to stop both guys from fighting. The class begins to accept their delinquent transfer and then Ichikura’s delinquent side gets accidentally exposed! Favorite part is where Momose has to grab the person she likes for a relay but didn’t read all the instructions. 😂

Loved it still. A little bit of jealousy which is easily resolved by communicating. I like seeing them be soooo cute together and we are in the third volume getting adorable little kisses. He is a little egotistical but it stays charming cause he likes her and its CUTE.
The ending though... I have the next volume on hold at the library but I don't want to waittttt
Volume 3 introduced a new obstacle that could have been the cause of a great deal of drama, and while it technically was, it also allowed for a lot of character growth. By “new obstacle”, i’m talking about Ichikura’s former classmate, a current yankee, transfer into his and Momose’s class.
While Ichikura was doing a rather good job of hiding his yankee tendencies from his classmates until now, having a current yankee as a classmate brings in all sorts of new difficulties. This made the volume feel very fresh and entertaining, as we were shown Ichikura dealing with something he really hasn’t dealt with yet.
