The secret of how Erina can kiss Nekoyama and not have him shift into his feline body is revealed and it might be more trouble than it’s worth. On the other hand, when her lips hit his snout and a hot boy pops out? Well, cat’s amore…
This story is basically a farce that has a very healthy drive as far as more carnal pursuits are concerned and that really helps it stand out amongst the more traditional shojo beats (sorry, not sorry, no more than I was last time I used this joke) in terms of its style and bent.
Inui doesn’t get as much page time, but he proves as utterly useless as you’d expect. He adds a nice balance of extra humour and his schtick of being totally pointless is fun. His ghost stories during the beach trip (I should probably refer to it as the ‘inevitable’ beach trip) are absolutely hilarious.
The main pair are on fire this time around. A lot of this story revolves around the fact that Erina is incredibly flustered around Nekoyama and wants to get over this, but she’s having a really hard time with this hot boy appearing every time she kisses her beloved cat for some reason.
Once the secret is out, well, it totally makes things much, much worse. There are some hilariously bold strides forward for the relationship between our leads, but they definitely feel like they come with two steps back.
The whole thing is crackling because watching these two fumble their way through love is a good, sweaty time, with Erina trying her best and not doing well at all (her vamping ends up like a dog that caught its tail, ironically) and Nekoyama succeeding just because of how unflappable he is.
There is some surprisingly strong fetish play amongst these two, along with some really poorly thought out ideas (the bath sequence is likely to melt the pages at times), plus the usual back and forth where they almost equally give as good as they get (Nekoyama wins more, but Erina lands decisive blows).
Trust me, this mangaka has an idea what makes for a nice, sexy moment and has no trouble deploying these tricks at a relentless pace. Once the question of their attraction is settled, these two are just off to the hormonal races and driving each other crazy. It’s kind of nice to see a side of young love that many manga gloss over (some do not - You’ve Got Me, Senpai! is a personal favourite partly because of this).
Now, Nekoyama pushes forward when Erina pushes back sometimes, so if you want him to completely respect her wishes, be warned. In this case, and this very specific case, it IS clear that this is just her being flustered than her actual resistance to the idea, but I can see it being a flag for somebody and not without reason.
Then, finally, there’s the series of facial expressions that wind up this volume, which are just a riot. This is a funny story and no mistake. The first date ends up with poor impulse control and somebody getting a ride home and there’s a cat video joke that ends up being positively (and hilariously) filthy.
4 stars - eh, I’m easy to please and this is a ridiculous premise that just goes for it and, as a bonus, uses that premise to present some very silly situations and a nice serving of steam on the side. Consistently entertaining.
OKAY LOL THAT WAS WAY HOT, LIKE SCALDING HOT FOR A SHOUJO MANGA. BUT LIKE, I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH. THEY ARE SO CUTE TOGETHER! AND NORIBEN!! 😭 he's so fricken cute, I can't with that fluff ball!! Cough, the bathroom scene! Cough!
I get that the ML's a cat so he's supposed to be aloof about things, but his expression hardly *ever* changes 💀 The only ones we've seen so far are his mildly shocked and annoyed blushing faces - which don't get me wrong are fine and dandy - but how are we supposed to know what he's thinking or feeling then?? It honestly feels like the ML is emoting for the both of them
On top of that, I feel like their decision to start dating was honestly a little forced.. she'd barely gotten used to his presence in her life yet and then she was somehow *in love*- (and so was he??). The math just isn't mathing I'm sorry to say
All in all its definitely a cute and wholesome manga though and I'm still curious enough to continue on with the next volume
I picked this up on a whim. Meaning the whole series, because there is a cat. The issue, however, is that it is not a particular likable one. On top of that, I do not even enjoy the art, or the story that much. One of the salient points is that the bodies of all the characters, protagonist and side kick alike, are flawless. I cannot fathom how that never bothered me before (i.e., when I was an adolescent reading manga)! Another crunchpoint in regard to the couple, then, is that it is not disclosed what they like about each other! Other than that, to push on with this enumeration, Erina applauds her new boyfriend for being so considerate of her feelings ... which he is clearly not as has proven to not be in this volume and in the past.
Okay, so what is wrong with me for continuing to read this? I do not know, fully, but manga have this potential of stringing you along.
Super steamy. I knew the mangaka would turn it up a notch once they start dating, but I'm surprised by how far they've been going, especially since this is a shoujo. The tension is crazy! Cannot stress how much I'm enjoying this series. It's the perfect thing to read as I'm winding down.
I can't believe I read 4 volumes in two days. This manga series is too addicting. I love that we are learning more about the cat rules. The tension between the leads is so good! I just love the playful banter the two of them do. I also love it when the ML is pushy with the FL (but in a non-harassing sort of way). Just the cutesy graphics are fun to look at (since there isn't much verbiage but that's okay, it's a fluffy manga).
This volume literally shows that they are dating but neither of them know it yet smh. Uhhhhh I love this manga so much, the amount of joy this gives me is unreal!!
And please Nekoyama really went up the top tier shoujo ML! The fact that they TALK about what they feel, and Nekoyama being straightforward as hell flatters me <33
Also the end part I guess the cat is outta bag now..
“Having a boyfriend who is also a cat is just the best!” Truer words have not been said / there it goes kids. communication is key and respect of your partner’s feelings too / the cat is out of the bag (literally)

This manga making me feel some time of way GMFU LOL
Erina finds out what is needed to stop Nekoyama from transforming and I cackle. Some date stuff, the two get a little hot and heavy, it's not a shoujo without a beach scene, and the ENDING REVEAL TO HER FRIENDS ADLKFAJL;FKJ HJAHAH.
I just really enjoy this manga. The cat aspect is so amusing cause she likes him as human but his cat persona, she can separate the two and love cat content. They have both confessed and its very cute. The cliff hanger... I wonder what's gonna happen.
