There are many good scriptural insights in this book. There are good life lessons from Bible characters and events. Each Bible chapter is highlighted with its main point but there are also character studies and other information. I like how Moderow provides clear and meaningful teaching from difficult passages, like rituals and sacrifices.

One insight that surprised me was the value of genealogies. They ground Bible stories in actual people so we know they are not myths. They also help us see how people responded to God's revelation, yielding consequences sometimes generations later.

There are thoughtful questions at the end of every chapter and a suggested plan for a group study. This is a good book to gain insight into the first two books of the Bible. It can be read as a personal study or for use in a discussion group.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book through Celebrate Lit. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Right away I read something that grabbed my attention. With thirty-nine books from the Old Testament many have not read it all the way through. I know I have had trouble reading it at times because of all the difficult names of people and things I didn’t quite understand. We see how sin was everywhere but we also see grace. I liked how the book is rich in scriptures, stories from the Bible that are detailed and easy to understand.

“In the beginning is where we first experience God and His power. He created the heaven and earth and made man in His image.” We walk with Adam and Eve as they encounter the enemy. They had everything they needed but temptation lead them astray. How easily the enemy can turn us away from God if we are not on guard.

“For most of us, the sin we commit against our brothers and sisters is not murder, but indifference.” Oh how we need to be more mindful of how we treat others. We can’t allow jealousy or greed to cause us to sin against each other.

I really loved this book and found it helpful to understand the different books better. The questions are nice to help us apply what we read and I came to appreciate the history of the different people as we discover the genealogy. Well written and many nuggets of wisdom make this book one everyone should grab a copy of.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

"The Bible Companion Book 1 Genesis–Exodus: Journey through Scripture One Day at a Time" by Karen Westbrook Modero is a great introduction to this set of books. There are many good scriptural insights in this book. along with life lessons from Bible characters and events. Each chapter is highlighted with its main point and other information. I think this would be a great way to learn about what the Bible says for someone just starting to read the Bible and always a review for all believers and someone searching to believe. I brought the audio version of this book, and I really enjoy having it read to me.

There is a companion thought after each chapter which is really thoughtful questions and there is a suggested plan for a small group study.

I want to get all the books that are in this series, which is seven, but I am hoping that that author writes more because they only go to Song Of Songs, I will really like a book like this on the rest of the Bible.

I really recommend that everyone gets this book and the rest of the series, I mean how can you go wrong study the Bible. I do want to stress that these books should enrich your study not replace reading The Bible as well.

I was given a complimentary copy from the author and Celebrate Lit and these opinions are my own.

My Thoughts: This book is a valuable tool and a must-read for everyone. Imagine reading through Genesis and Exodus with ease and understanding. This is the book to enable the reader to do just that. Each chapter is short and to the point. Each chapter is summarized into a brief devotional perfect for reading everyday.

With the excellent job of writing and research, this would make a great devotional to go along with your everyday reading of these books of the Bible.

Highly recommended and encourage all to read.

The Bible Companion Book 1 Genesis–Exodus: Journey through Scripture One Day at a Time Karen Westbrook Moderow is designed to be a simple, flexible, and compelling Bible study. It focuses only on the books of Genesis through Exodus. It is the first book in a new Bible Study series. The author examines each book one chapter at a time.

Each day is roughly one to two pages long, which makes it suitable to fit into busy schedules. When you have more time to delve into the word, you can always use it as a starting point to dive deeper into the Bible. Whether you want to use it alone, with your family, or in a small group for church, I believe this book provides the perfect opportunity to learn more about God’s Word one chapter at a time.

So if you are looking for a new Bible Study, check out The Bible Companion Book 1 Genesis–Exodus: Journey through Scripture One Day at a Time Karen Westbrook Moderow.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

This easy to understand Bible study guide starts at the beginning—with Creation—and takes readers through the books of Genesis and Exodus with stories about what happened in the Bible passage studied and practical questions for personal application. The author highlights the main characters from God’s Word and expounds on their lives and choices. Each chapter, which could be used as a daily devotional or Bible study prompt, is brief and to the point. This serves as a good reminder and kickoff for those familiar with the text and a great introduction for those to whom reading through the Bible may be a new experience. This book makes it easy to take a chapter or so a day and explore what God tells us in Scripture. This could be used in a group study or Sunday school class too and would be good for young people also. I recommend it as a resource for home and church. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

The Bible Companion Book 1 takes you through the first two books of the Bible which are Genesis and Exodus. I have really enjoyed reading scripture and then the thoughts and insights of the author and comparing it to my mom’s thoughts written in her Bible. I especially liked the thought provoking question at the end of each chapter page, as you need to reflect on what you have studied and search your heart for an answer. This is a great addition to studying your Bible as it explains customs, traditions, genealogy, etc of the times and makes you dig deeper into God’s word. You will find it enriching and encouraging to read more consistently. I look forward to reading more of these studies.
I was blessed to receive a complimentary copy from CelebrateLit/publisher. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

I appreciate the conversational tone of this book and how it aids in understanding the first two books of the Old Testament. The Bible Companion Book 1 Genesis – Exodus offers short readings that reveal meanings and nuances as you read your Bible that help bring the messages across.

Each brief reading focuses on a chapter of scripture and is followed by a “companion thought,” which is a question to reflect on. Easy reading, in-depth study, and better understanding. There’s not much more I could want! I’d love to have a companion book for each book of the Bible!

This Companion was very easy to follow it takes one chapter at a time and adds a summary and commentary of important part of the reading then asks you a question to help you engage with the Scripture and apply to your life. I found this helpful as a seasoned Christian whose read these Scriptures multiple times yet it can be helpful for someone just starting out in this journey or someone rereading through the Bible. You can use this as a daily companion whether you want to do one chapter at a time or more.Unfortunately I missed sign up for book 2 but will be purchasing it in the future as I'm looking forward to reading through the Bible from beginning to end one chapter at a time.

I have really appreciated this book. I used it by, each morning, reading the next chapter of the Bible in sequence, and then reading the commentary included in The Bible Companion. There are some very encouraging thoughts included in this. I enjoy the pages of special information about various people or customs that are inserted between some chapters, as well. Each chapter contains 2-3 questions at the end, to help apply the chapter to our daily lives.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author, and these are my honest thoughts about it.
