“When I first saw you, I felt something I had never felt before. It was a mix of joy, excitement, and wonder. You are my adventure.”
She was beauty and a mystery, and he wanted to know all there was to her.
He was love in human form, and she wanted to experience all there was to him.
The day Ximena Solomon met Hiram Moss, the last thing either of them were expecting was to find true love. Yet still, their connection ran deep, their attraction was undeniable, and what grew between them was nothing short of love at first sight.
Ximena and Hiram cannot deny the magnetic pull they feel toward each other. They begin to spend more time together, sharing their hopes, dreams, and deepest feelings. With each passing day, their bond grows stronger, and they realize that they have found something truly special in each other. A chance encounter might prove to be fate as these two weave their way into a romance for the ages. This is a heartwarming tale of love, destiny, and the power of human connection. It reminds us that sometimes the most extraordinary things in life can happen when we least expect them, and that true love is worth fighting for.

There are a few things you can expect or even guarantee reading a KB novel.
🔹A strong family unit 🔹Siblings that don’t play not even a little bit about each other 🔹Pets or kids that bring life and humor into the story 🔹Black love amplified 🔹A cultural journey 🔹Two souls destined for each other
The Perfection of a Moment gave us all that and a bag of chips! 🥰🥰
Ximena and Hiram are two extremely successful people. Creativity pumps through their veins probably more than the blood that keeps them alive. Ximena is an artist that could be compared to the likes of Basquiat but no one knows her true identity and that’s how she prefers it since her privacy is what’s most important in her creative process.
Hiram has his hands in a little bit of everything. As a model and photographer he’s one of the most talked about names in the industry! And whether it’s NYFW of an editorial ad, he’s killing the game effortlessly.
These two are in their own lanes and owning tf out of them but there is definitely room for the other to take up space after a chance meeting in the park literally causes their worlds to collide into each other.
It was the black mama talks with Homer for me! 🐕 🥏🐿️🌳 It was the first date for me! ✈️ 🖼️🎨🎶 🍽️ It was the seggs for me 😈💦🛁🍆👩🏾🦽 It was the culture for me 🇮🇳 🇨🇺🥘🫓🫔 It was the intimate photoshoot for me 📸🫦 It was the morning after in Charlotte for me 🌹🍾🔗 It was the familial bond for me! 👩🏾❤️💋👨🏾
KB always understands the assignment and when she told us we were getting a feel good love story in the disclaimer, that’s exactly what we got because I definitely feel good after reading this!
What do I always say in my reviews? We stan an unproblematic couple on this side of Goodreads and Ximena and Hiram gave me all the unproblematic feels.
Ximena is a middle school art teacher and dog mommy to Homer the precocious German Shepherd but, she’s also a very popular artist whose identity is unknown. She guards her peace closely so, to maintain her privacy, she paints under the pseudonym X.So. Hiram is a model who has walks runways all over the world for well known fashion designers but, his true passion is photography. A disobedient fur baby leads to a chance encounter between Ximena and Hiram. When these two meet the sparks, literally, fly and it’s love at first sight. The attraction between Ximena and Hiram can’t be denied and it grows with each date, each phone call, each text message, and each FaceTime. From the moment Homer dragged Ximena through that pile of leaves, their destiny was written in the stars. Not only did we get to witness these lovebirds fall head over heels for each other but, we got to catch up with our faves Sully, Corelli, and Reese. Y’all know I'm always here for a cameo. I also loved how KB represented the Indian and Cuban cultures so prominently throughout the storyline. The Perfection of a Moment was absolutely beautiful. This book was full of black love and positivity, and I loved every moment of it. It was so sweet watching the love bloom between Ximena and Hiram while they fell for each other so organically. If you’re feeling jaded in any way, this book will definitely make you believe in love again.
This really was a beautiful love story….You could really feel the love between Hiram & Ximena ….I was cracking up on how wrapped up in Homer…everyone in this story was….everyone loved him.
“What are you looking for?” “Your heart. I don’t know what it is about you, Ximena. It’s like your heart speaks to mine. I want you to know that I’m listening.”
Kimberly Brown said lets celebrate the beauty of black love without getting bogged down in unnecessary drama and I was here for it. This book was just filled with very lovable main characters, amazing and supportive families, a fluffy but stubborn dog, a very stern but loving dog mommy and so many sweet and heartwarming moments. Just pure, unadulterated black love story at its finest.
“…I just hadn’t met another woman worthy of giving my love to.” “You think I’m worthy of that?” “No. I know you’re worthy, Ximena. My heart tells me that every time I think of you, every time I see you, and every time I touch you. You are it for me, and I can’t wait to come home to you.”
I love Ximena and Hiram. Those two were fated and their chemistry was off the charts from the get go. I loved watching them navigate life and parenting Homer, the dog with nothing but love and laughter.
“I’m willing to stand ten toes down on us meeting that day was fate. You were made for me, and I love you.”
I really enjoyed this story. It had me smiling from start to finish.
We love an unproblematic drama-free love story—it's perfect. Hiram and Ximena's meet-cute was adorable, and from there, it was history. Hiram wooed and dated her in the most charming way imaginable, and they both fell deeply without hesitation. KB brilliantly showcases healthy black love in this book. As always, her work is fantastic.
What a beautiful read! Who knew a face plant in a pile of leaves, would lead to the greatest love you've ever known! 😂 Ximena and Hiram were a couple made in literary heaven! 😍 From the second they met, and the sparks started to fly, love entered the equation. You could literally feel the adoration these two shared rise from the pages. This read displayed black love at its finest, with family right at the heart of it all. And Homer, can't forget about his squirrel chasin' ass! 😂
I just loved everything about this read. It reminded us that love can be simple, pure, honest, authentic, and problem free. Kudos Miss Kimberly! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I’m not new to Kimberly Brown. I know sis can write and deliver, but KB this one was absolutely amazing. Hands in the air for a book to movie adaptation 🙋🏽♀️ Ximena & Hiram’s connection was electrifying from the beginning. Chance encounters are no coincidence & I loved how this story developed. Hiram was like a hood Disney Prince. Charming and made you swoon but got on demon😈 time in the bedroom. I love how Ximena was quirky, slightly unaware of how beautiful she was, yet humble. Add Ximena’s prayer to the lists ladies. She FOUND A GOOD MAN!!! Shiii GREAT MAN! Loved this one 😍 Kimberly can we get a short follow up with these two, maybe like a Christmas short?
Ximena and Hiram were an unproblematic couple that had a sweet love story. I mean everything about them was sweet. They had sweet supportive families, professions that they loved, and they both were successful in those careers. It was something like love at first sight, but they still took their time getting to know each other before making it official. It was just a feel good story, a feel good love that we all want to experience in real life vs. the struggle love that we normally read about. I loved that we experienced them dating, meeting each others families, and falling in love. It was a complete story.
That said I have to be honest and say I was a little bored. I know, I know, I'm toxic smh. The story was well written, barely any errors and I struggled to finish it. KB warns us at the beginning that this isn't that, so I still recommend the story because it is sweet. I'm the problem, not the story at all. I always say I love an unproblematic couple, but I guess I'm shifting...bring on the drama lol.
Definitely a good palate cleanser and a sweet sweet love.
4.5 stars - Ximena and Hiram were so cute together. After Ximena's dog runs off and leaves her face down in a pile of leaves, she is helped by Hiram. These two can't keep their eyes off each other, and he immediately wants her number and to take her on a date. I love a man who knows what he wants and goes for it. That's exactly what Hiram did!
Hiram never wavered in his pursuit of Ximena. He knew money didn't impress her, and that she deserved his time and affections. Once they decided to give the relationship a try, that was it for both of them. They were grown enough to know that it didn't take forever once your soul recognized your forever partner!
TROPES: black romance, Afro-Latina/Afro-Indian, funny meet cute, she's the one, instalove-ish, no third act breakup, no drama, artist heroine, model/photographer hero; rich hero/heroine
This was so good. All joy, no drama, no unnecessary anything. A story about two beautiful inside and out people falling in love. I loved it! Happy reading!
4.5 stars. Beautiful, uncomplicated, drama-free, black love story. These two were brought together by fare and a wayward dog. Since their initial meeting it was nothing but love and support. I truly enjoyed thieir love story. Took off half a star bc no way people didn't know she was XO. That was a major plot point but i didn't understand how it was a secret, especially once they started dating.
Definitely a perfect love story of feel good moments on black love. I could not stop smiling throughout the book had my cheeks hurting. The only thing I wish is more details like the wedding and other scenes especially about their cultures and maybe visiting the homelands together 😩 I wanted more it’s a tiny bit fast paced but i understand the type of book it is don’t wanna take away the overall essence of it. Kimberly again did herself a job well done can’t wait to read more of her work coming this year 🫶
…also I saw that drop in from one of the Jareau’s 🥹
“My grandmother told me meeting your soulmate was like looking in a mirror. The connection was easy and natural.” • • Baby, let me tell you something — when Kimberly Brown said that she wrote a book that was a feel good story where there was no conflict or drama, SHE MEANT THAT. • • Ximena Solomon, an artist and art teacher, and Hiram Moss, a model and photographer, are two individuals who are focused on their careers, but a chance encounter due to Ximena’s dog chasing a squirrel and dragging her though leaves has Hiram rescuing her and wanting to get to know her after their brief encounter. Throughout this book you watch both characters develop beautiful feelings for one another, date and court each other, and eventually end up with HEA that was bound to happen. • • Some of my favorite moments: The cultural aspects of each character. Hiram’s intentionally since day 1. The sibling and family love from both sides. Homer. Black folks love their dogs. The steamy s*x scenes without penetration. Ximena and Hiram’s art collaboration. 🥹 • • Honestly, this book is so damn good. It made me believe that falling in love someone you met a week ago is possible as long as you both are intentional and KNOW what you want. 🫶🏽 • • Please read this book, y’all!
“A chance encounter that turned into a beautiful love story”. I was smiling this entire read. I really love unproblematic, soul stirring, positive emotional driven relationships. Hiram and Ximena relationship was a journey of love to love ❤️.
This book was so unproblematic & drama free. I loved it. Each page brought more love & passion toward the characters. I did not want it to end. This book was so refreshing to read. Cute & quick!
Mrs. Brown, you gave us a spectacular wholesome love story. Sometimes, as an avid reader, you need to take a step back and just read a plot with no drama or unnecessary foolishness. This type of story gives hope to the one who is still single and seeking their forever love. Hiram and Ximena's story is the modern-day fairytale that most dreams about. A simple walk in the park with your fur baby turns into building an empire with the guy you met in the park. Now, granted, Ximena was face-planted in a pile of leaves she still managed to garner the attention of Hiram. Homer, Ximena's fur baby was the culprit of the awkward meeting. Homer goofness put Ximena in the pathway of her other half. The sparks started to fly, and the chemistry kept building from that one encounter. Hiram was a traditional type man because he aided Ximena in conquering her dreams. He paid for the piece of land that Ximena was interested in for her business. He was all in when it came to anything Ximena needed or wanted. He took their partnership seriously as he should as her man and future husband. And he loved Homer just as much, if not more, than Ximena.
Another home run by Mrs. Brown, you want to get into this read. It gives you all the feels of true, hardworking, and honest love. Hiram and Ximena had a love at first sight encounter, and it built from that moment. Ximena had her fur baby Homer, and he just made the unique family dynamic even more intrguing. I say grab your copy today, get into it, and you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
This book is one of my favorites from Kimberly Brown. This book was such a beautiful love story that I needed right now. I love Ximena and Hiram relationship and family. I love the fact that this couple was so in love with each other. The couple family was supportive of the relationship. This book was such a peaceful and beautiful love story. I love the fact that the male main character was a novel and the female main character was an artist. I feel like this book will be a great romance movie.
This was the perfect love story. The characters were amazing, and the chemistry was off the charts. What made this story even better was no drama. I loved Ximena and Hiram' relationship journey. They took the time to get to know each other, and both families were very supportive of their union. There was so much positivity throughout this story. There was no way you didn't wish for good things to come for these two. I liked the cameo of Corelli and Reese. The author did an amazing job with this story.
Ximena was perfect. Hiram was perfect. Their words were perfect. Their love was perfect.
I can already tell they I sm going to always remember Ximena & Hiram, that I'm going to revisit this story several times and that it will give me the feels every single time!
Both Hiram and Ximena believed GOD brought them together and I agree!!! Honest communication is a huge part of their relationship, as well as standing on a foundation of faith and love. I loved how Hiram supported Ximena's dream. They both were super blessed to have such loving and supportive families. What a beautiful story!
This was a good palette cleanse of non-toxic, easy love. Hiram & Ximena were super cute & fun! I love how Hiram unapologetically loved Ximena. Hiram has been added to my book bae list.
I can see the book as a movie. A genuine, simple, yet graffitied love. This relationship was fate and the way they grew into love was a beautiful read.
There was no third act breakup, no toxicity, no deranged ex, no drama just pure love and happiness.
TW - fibroids and total hysterectomy (sc, mentioned), military service (sc, mentioned), weed (past, sc, mentioned briefly) CW - some biting, v light somno
Tropes - meet cute, piggy back rides, she does his hair, foot massages, they dance in the kitchen, dog mum
Representation - BIPOC characters
This is a light hearted low stakes read so if that's what you're looking for, this is the book.
The MCs meet when Ximena's (FMC) dog, Homer, decides to run after some squirrels after being explicitly told not to causing her to fall in a pile of leaves and, like the gentleman Hiram (MMC) is, he goes to help.
There is immediately something between the pair when they meet and they both know it so they stay in contact, talk, go on dates and whatever it is between them grows and grows - they know they've found their person.
Each character has a strong relationship with their family so you know they were all up in their business along the way 😅
I enjoyed this, I will say some of the language used in the spicy scenes made me cringe (see: creamy secretions) but other than that, I'd recommend ✌🏾
Scale: ⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite ⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪
