JACE For years I’ve been the golden boy—a perfect son and older brother, a best friend, one of the top drivers on the grid, and a father to the world's most amazing kid. It’s everything I thought I’d ever need. Until her. They say you get one great love in your lifetime, but what do the rules say about experiencing it twice with the same person? I had her once. I thought I lost her forever. Now she’s back and I’ll do everything I can to keep her.
KINSLEY This is my new beginning—a time to break free from the darkness of my past and do something I can be proud of. That my son can be proud of. A time to do something I love. It’s all I ever dreamed of and now it’s within arms reach. But then I find my camera focusing on the driver with blue eyes and an easy smile. With every passing week, heated glance, late night talks, and stolen moments, this fresh start feels anything but new. And it’s all because of him.

⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡ my review i devoured this book in like 2 days, i would’ve read it faster if i didn’t have school (🙄) anyways, like i actually loved this book SO frickin much. if you don't know already, i love second chance romance a lot - so this book was really special. a trope in this book that hit really hard for me is the found family, it was done so beautifully and i felt so emotional while reading. jace and kinsley are so cute and perfect together, they compliment each other is the best way. i don't follow f1, but i really want to get into it. the rollercoaster of emotions while reading this was insane, like giggling and smiling to sobbing like an idiot for these characters who are so special to me now.
➷ cooper & beckham are the sweetest boys ever + them being wingman for jace is adorable
“but you’ll get married someday, right? and we can be a family?” ➷ this quote y’all 🙊 (cooper was asking jace)
100% definitely recommend, go add this to your tbr <33
ೃ⁀➷pre-review its 1:15am and i just finished i was acc crying a few mins ago like no one understands how much found family makes me cry definitely recommend and rtc <33
ೃ⁀➷pre-read 2024.12.2 got the arc!! super excited, the cover and synopsis are so cute <3
thank you so much to love notes pr and the author for an arc!!
Ahhhhh!!! Kayla does it againnnn!! I've found so many incredible indie authors this year, and I'm smashing my way through their new releases. And Kayla is one of them.
She blew me away earlier this year with Lights Out, and I was eagerly anticipating the second in the series. And she has not disappointed! I frigging loved this. It's got a trope in here that is quickly becoming a new favourite trope of mine, but I haven't actually seen it mentioned on any promotion stuff so I don't want to mention it here in case it's a spoiler, but I'm obsessed. This is a second chance romance, single parents (both of them) and found family and I'm OBSESSED.
I assumed we'd see a quick fling between Kinsley and Jace and then onto the second chance portion. But ohhhhh nooo, we're well over 100 pages before we get to part 2 of this story where the second chance comes in. And the build up, I was so freaking invested in these two. And everything that happens after. Oh my heart! I SOBBED at the end of this, such a beautiful story.
I literally cannot wait for Lawson and Sydney's book and I'm already excited for the couple I assume we might have for book 4 *side eye*
Thank you to LoveNotes PR for sending me an ARC of this book. I'm eternally grateful.
This was so cute! It’s a second-chance F1 romance between a driver MMC and photographer FMC, where they’re both single parents. This book was heartfelt, sweet, angsty, and fast paced (though too fast at times). The second chance aspect to it was done fairly well with the transition from “past” to “present”, but I wanted more from the past. Jace is the ultimate golden retriever MMC, willing to do anything for his woman😍. Kinsley is a sweetheart and deserves the world for everything she’s went through. I don’t want to spoil anything, but all I’ll say is that the way they found each other again was mesmerizing and I loved these two together. Cooper and Becks were funny and wholesome too! I would love a story about them too when they’re older and scheming as siblings. I adored all the tender moments and how naturally Jace, Kinsley, and their sons got along together like a family.
There were some obvious cliche moments and I wasn’t a fan of the unnecessary drama with a certain side character. Still, this was more enjoyable than Book 1 (which was just okay for me) and I noticed a slight improvement in the author’s style. I loved seeing the other characters and hints for the next couples. The group text threads and Instagram post descriptions were really cool and funny as we see a glimpse of the friend group interactions. There were lots of hilarious moments too through the banter and jokes! I’m so excited for Sydney and Lawson’s story, and hoping for Nikolai’s book in the future 🫡
Many thanks to Love Notes PR and the author for providing the ARC!!
"I may not have won the race, but I'll celebrate winning this girl every night for the rest of my life."
I'm excited to share my thoughts on the second book in this series—it’s another fantastic read! I'm totally in love with these characters; they’re relatable and easy to connect with. The chemistry between Jace and Kinsley? Absolutely sizzling! The friendship and camaraderie are heartwarming, and I adore how they support each other through tough times. The story follows Jace and Kinsley, who had a relationship years ago. When Jace asked her to join him on tour, Kinsley suddenly disappeared. Fast forward eight years, and they bump into each other again as a driver and photographer. Both are single parents now, but that spark from their past is still alive. Jace realizes he has a second chance to win her back and create their own happily ever after!
"Kinsley Hope Jones has ingrained herself in my soul. Hell, she is my soul."
Jace is such a wonderful character! He’s like the perfect golden retriever boyfriend: funny, supportive, and incredibly loyal. I appreciate that he doesn’t pressure Kinsley; he’s happy to let her set the pace in their relationship. It’s great to see them start as friends before becoming lovers, and he’s an amazing dad to his son, Beckham. Kinsley’s journey has been tough, especially growing up without a loving family. It warms my heart that she found the family she needed with the Collins. The bond of friendship in this book is simply stunning! We felt it in the first book, but it shines through here, and I love it! Beckham and Cooper add so much charm and humor to the story—seriously, that scene with the ducks and geese had me laughing out loud!
I won’t spoil too much, but the dual timeline element is something I appreciated. There is a bit of drama towards the end involving one of the side characters that wasn’t my favorite, but it all wraps up nicely. I’m having a great time with this series and can’t wait to dive into the next book! If you’re searching for a heartwarming read with a sprinkle of angst, plenty of sweetness, hilarious moments, and a strong bond of friendship, this book is definitely for you. Thank you to Kayla and Love Notes PR for providing me with the eARC!
"With him, my dreams are worked for, my words are heard, and my feelings are safe. With him, I'm home."
Jace, the golden boy of the paddock with the golden retriever energy to match. Successful racing driver who doesn’t have the same success in his dating life. Kinsley, a girl who is just looking for a true place to belong and people who love her no matter what. What happens when these two stumble into each other live no one but twice. But they never what the second time to have to happen. But this time they have to learn to navigate the past and the present along with two additional troublemakers in tow.
Jace is such a sweetheart, and he need protecting at all costs. These two are just so cute. You get to see them before and after (I can’t really say much because is literally spoils the whole point of the book) and them re living their relationship again but just slightly different. Beckham and Copper, I would die for those boys. Them acting as little cupids and Jace’s biggest wing men was such a cute moment. Kinsley deserves all the love in the world and Jace shows that too her by the bucket load. It’s the little details about them from before that creep into their after which just make Jace the biggest softly know to man.
I need to know more about their life after this book. Just another book with the story of the rest of their life would be great. Then a story with the life story of Beckham and Copper. They much get up to some mad stuff when their older. Their little schemes still getting them in to trouble when their older. But them still being the best of friends.
From Lights Out (Book 1 in the series) you see the found family aspect of this series really start to grow. There was so much teasing for Sydney and Lawson relationship, I can’t wait for their story. And I hope the found family continues in that story because it adds such a deeper depth and love to the stories. It also adds character to the character because they feel like real people.
I may be a little biased, but Jace and Kinsley were everything to me. Their story was a hard one to write but I'm so proud of what came of it. I hope you all love them too <3
😭😭😭 a highly anticipated release for me and it was absolutely everything. Second chance and both are single parents?! no question 👏🏼
Jace and Kinsley, and Beckham and Cooper, will live rent free in my head from here on out. I just adored them. The way Jace is literally the best dad, and Kinsley the best mom. They both deserve the world and I’m so glad they have it with each other.
I loved that this was set up into two parts. Part one being when they were younger and part two as adults. The way these two found each other again was so perfect. And just the whole crew here is one big family and I love them. Had me giggling and kicking my feet with all their banter and jokes.
Huge thank you to Kayla & Love Notes PR for the ARC 🩵

Let me just say it—this is officially my favorite book of 2024! Kayla absolutely nailed this chef’s kiss F1 second-chance romance in a way I’ve never experienced before.
I’m usually not a big second-chance romance girlie, but this book? Absolute perfection. From the first page to the bittersweet ending, I was hooked. What really stood out to me was how Kayla structured the story—the first half is told in the past, and we don’t have to constantly flip back and forth between timelines. That alone deserves a round of applause!
As a huge F1 fan, I’ve read my fair share of racing romances, but no one writes F1 like Kayla. The way she captured the sport, the emotions, and the love story was unmatched. I could go on forever, but just trust me: if you’re an F1 fan or a romance reader, you NEED this book in your life!
thank you @authorkaylajames & @lovenotes.pr for my second ARC 🥹
✨Jump Start by Kayla James is an inspiring and emotional story that will leave readers not willing to put the book down. I WAS SOBBING! 😭 It was so emotional, I just couldn’t keep the tears in. With its relatable characters, heartfelt moments, and a perfect balance of humor and emotion, this book is a true standout.✨
💚Kinsley and Jace’s journey is both emotional and empowering, as they confront life’s setbacks and learn to embrace new opportunities. Their struggles and triumphs feel authentic, making it easy to root for them every step of the way. They are the definition of soulmates!🥹
Kingsley being a strong beautiful women. I just wanted to hug her! ❤️🩹Jace is a golden retriever man and an amazing character! Ugh I loved him so so much🫶🏽. He had so much patience and he would do anything for Kinsley and the family. Their chemistry felt real and authentic.🔥The sons, Cooper and Beckham, were fun, cute and lovely characters.
💕The relationships—whether romantic, platonic, or familial—are beautifully written.🤌🏽The side characters just bring so much more to story. The book an absolute page-turner. Jump Start delivers on every level and a celebration of fresh starts and second chances,.🙌🏽
Thank you to the Author Kayla James of the opportunity to read this ARC! 💚
Thank you, Love Notes PR & Kayla James, for the e-ARC.
While this is certainly a stand-alone book, I also suggest reading it before or after Lights Out (the story by Ryder and Blake). There aren't enough words to express how much I loved this. The story of Kinsley and Jaces was both heartbreaking and beautiful. At least halfway through the book, there was a time jump, which surprised me because I had entered the book unaware of all the tropes. However, I'm glad I did since I like the aspect of surprise that comes after you've already seen a book snippet that sparks your interest. However, this novel captures your attention right away. I am looking forward to the next story!

Jump start, the second book in The Grid series, was everything I wanted. It’s an F1 romance that blends single parent and second chance tropes perfectly. Jace and Kinsley’s love story is emotional and heartwarming, and their two sons, Beckham and Cooper, add so much more to the story. I loved the dual POV, the past and present, showing their struggles and growth. If you’re into heartfelt romances with a focus on love and family, you need to read this book!

This is my new beginning—a time to break free from the darkness of my past and do something I can be proud of. That my son can be proud of. A time to do something I love. It's all I ever dreamed of and now it's within arms reach. But then I find my camera focusing on the driver with blue eyes and an easy smile. Jace and Kinsley’s road to romance was a long, but rewarding one. These two had chemistry at first sight and it was clear they were good together. However, life happens, years pass, and now they’re both single parents with new perspective on their relationship and what it means to get another chance at their HEA. With Jace as an F1 driver and Kinsley as a team photographer, they’ll be spending a lot of time together rediscovering what drew them to each other all those years ago.
The author did a MUCH better job this time with her F1 research, and I felt like it was nicely balanced with the romance. Of course, I loooooved seeing the whole crew from Lights Out. The found family in this series is great and I love how supportive of each other they are. Jace and Kinsley’s kids were adorable. I’m glad the author made sure they weren’t an afterthought, but fully immersed in their parents’ world.
There was a minor plot point that felt underdeveloped/unnecessary (the support chat group thing). Other than that, this was a great addition to the series, and I cannot WAIT for Sydney and Lawson’s book!

Plot: Some things in life are unexpected. Some people in life come unexpectedly. The best things and people in life come unexpectedly. It happened with Jace and Kinsley.
Kinsley Hope Jones, our brunette crashed into Jace Cooper Collin, our blue eyed blond golden retriever’s life, at a bar when 18 and 21 respectively. It was a horrible day for both, their friends having dragged them out to lighten up their moods, their nasty ex’s being the root cause. The night took an unexpected turn. The next 3 weeks were the best. They immediately went from strangers to best friends and lovers. It may have been fast, but it was true. However, it was short-lived. Jace was waiting at the airfield for Kinsley who didn’t turn up. Believing that she didn’t feel the same like him and she didn’t want to come with him, he accepted her decision with a heavy heart, never realising the truth.
Jump start to 8 years in the future…… Jace is among the top racers globally. He and his best friends faced a lot in their respective racing career. And he’s a single dad to a seven year old boy- Beckham. His nasty ex is the biological mother, NOT an inch mom. Life was well with the occasional ups and downs and constant pang of missing Kinsley.
Kinsley was living with Rose, a kind old lady who took her in 8 years ago when she was cold, wet and shivering at the bus stop. She worked at her cafe which was on the outskirts of the city. She was a single mom to a six year old boy- Cooper. And she had lost her memory of 2 years prior to the accident 8 years ago. The very reason why she didn’t head to the airfield that day. Life carried on, but the feeling of something missing was always there.
In comes Sydney, Jace’s meddling little sister, the matchmaker. She and Lily kept hunting about Kinsley’s whereabouts because she had disappeared from everybody’s lives. They found out about new life and accident. Her memory case was critical. Also, her whereabouts were not easy to track down. Sydney managed to find out that she worked at Rose’s place. She knew that she and Jace were endgame. Hence, she started visiting her place often encouraged her to apply for the team’s photography crew. Rest all was…kismet.
She collides into Jace, again, on her first day of work. Do you get deja vu? Jace does. Only then does he realise what happened. It’s initially hard to digest, but then, he heads in full throttle to make her fall in love with him all over again, he never stopped loving her. It was a second chance he wasn’t going to waste.
Kinsley was falling for him. Things felt right with him. The world felt better with him. The boys loved each other, their parents together and even tried to parent trap their parents. Irony- the Dad has been in love with the Mum since 8 years. It was on the tip of Jace’s tongue to spill the tea, but he resisted himself. Things were going smoothly until their villain, rather the vamp from the past came to strike down their happiness, again. Also, her memories were making sudden appearances thus making her question her new found happiness. Everybody said Jace and Kinsley were soulmates. Even they felt it deep down in their bones. But, were they meant to stay together or did life just suddenly jump start only to fade away?
Opinion: OMG!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! I’ve loved books I’ve read and then this beauty speeds by me!!!! Dear author Kayla James, I love you for this series ❤️ Everything about this book is spot on, hands down, argue with the wall!! I thank myself for signing up for the ARC. One look at the book and I knew it was gonna be an emotion jerker. And it is. I’m a car girl. So I’m always hunting for racing romance books. Also, I’m a sucker for a good second chance novel. This book served me both on a silver platter. This book reminded me of my childhood dream of being a Racer. Jokes on me for I’m a Doctor. This book actually makes me want to shift to London. Dearest gentle reader, we need to hype up this series!!!!
Narration- spot on, 12 out of 10. It’s one of the best narration I’ve read. It’s so good, that you can visual it easily, like a movie. Just make a few changes when making it a script and it’s all ready to make it a movie. The name of the book- truly justified. The cover of the book- A picture speaks thousands of words. This one did. The art of Jace and Kinsley depicts the emotions they are going through, especially Jace. Sigh. Also, another detail I noticed which I simply loved- zoom in the background and you will spot the silhouette of the two boys plotting to parent trap their parents. The tropes- all of them were justified Book progression- smooth operator Side characters- AMAZING. I’m waiting for their books to come out soon. The banter and relation among them is so beautiful…Dear God, please ward away evil eyes. You know the book is worth it when you are calm and satisfied with a smile once you’re done with it. After the roller coaster ride of emotions that is ;) This book nailed it. Emotions this book will make you feel: Tears- yes. Two soulmates have been torn apart. One is living with the WHY question and the other has no clue!! Also, Jace’s POV will move you to tears, it is bound to. It’s that emotional. Swoon- yes. You can’t help but swoon over the four of them. Laughter- dam right. It serves it’s funny moments with full throttle. Chapter 33 is the funniest- life of being the parents to 2 scheming little boys. Also, the banter among each and every character with each other is hilarious. The ones take maximum credit of making us laugh are the boys- Beckham and Cooper. One minute Jace is like if Beck can keep talking and then the next minute he is like God!! Hot- Who doesn’t love a man who knows when and how to heat things up!? He’s a allrounder. Overall rating- the entire Galaxy!!!!!
PS- I know there are a lot of exclamation marks in this review. But I can’t help it, it deserves it.
So I just started reading f1 romance some months ago and I'm loving it so far.
I read lights out by Kayla James and I absolutely loved it so I knew I was going to love this book too and guess what.
I did.
This book was great. Kinsley and Jace are amazing people and wonderful parents as well. Their love story was marvellous dare I say and the way they found their way back to each other after 8 whole years is just 💜 incredible.
Our two cute little cupids Beckham and Cooper are the cutest cupids I have seen and they were rooting so hard for their respective parent to be together and form a happy family 🥺.
I also loved the fact that is was dual pov because if you know me, you know I love a dual pov book especially one that is wonderfully written.
Did I mention that we also have a glossary for terms used in the book so you don't get confused as well as a playlist.
Can wait for book 3! 💜
Thank you Love Notes pr and author Kayla James for giving me this arc in return for a honest review.
This was a really unique and fresh F1 romance storyline. Jace and Kinsey meet and have an instant connection, but they’re separated before their relationship can take off. When they are brought back together 8 years later, they are in different stages of life but Jace is determined to not lose her again.
I loved that this was a second chance story without a nonsense reason for their initial separation. I was also happy to see my questions around that separation answered towards the end, I was worried that was going to be left unresolved!
Just like the first book in this series, the side characters were a huge part of the story, especially Cooper and Beckham 💙
I rated this as 3 1/2 stars, rounded to 4, because it started off slow for me, but I’m definitely looking forward to the rest of the series!
🏎️ Both single parents 🏎️ F1 driver x team photographer 🏎️ Dual POV 🏎️ Found Family
Thank you to Love Notes PR & Kayla James for this ARC opportunity!
Jace and Kinsley are my new favorite book couple. They feel in love twice and are meant to be. They both have respect for the other, they support them, and they are the perfect couple to me. Jace is a race car driver with so much love in his life from his race car family to his loyal sister and loving parents. Kinsley is just the opposite. She has one friend she depends on. She has no family and grew up in the foster care system. The two meet when Kinsleys ex starts harassing her at a club. Jace steps in. They start to hang out as friends but quickly realize they want more. Everything is on the right track until tragedy strikes. Told from both points of view, the novel does a good job of navigating the two characters' relationship. I also adored all the side characters too. All in all, I'll definitely be picking up the rest of this series. I can not wait to read more by this author.
Jace & Kinsley get a second shot at love when Kinsley becomes one of the photographers for his Formula 1 team.

I'm convinced @authorkaylajames can do no wrong! Absolutely loved everything about this book!
The tropes are chef's kiss. Jace & Kinsley are absolutely everything. Cooper & Beckham are freaking hilarious! The best friend group is 100/10! The texts on page are perfection. The teasing & banter is glorious! Dual timeline/perspective added so much depth. And so more that I can't say because spoilers!
This can absolutely be read on its own, but I also recommend prior to or after reading Lights Out (Ryder & Blake's story).

I’m struggling to find words to describe how much I enjoyed this. Kinsley and Jaces story was so heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time.
Neither of them are looking for love when fate throws them together, but they don’t let that stop them. Their bond is so strong and effortless from the start.
Both Kinsley and Jace are such kind caring souls, it’s in everything they do. How they interact with each other, family, friends, and others around them.
It’s books like this that make me believe in love and keep me a hopeless romantic at heart.
100% one of my top reads of the year!
This can be read on its own, without reading the first book. Still, I loved it so much I’m on my way to go read book one now!!
Jump Start is the second book in Kayla James’ Grid series, featuring Jace and Kinsley as its central characters. From the moment they met, both knew they had found their soulmate. Jace, a professional racecar driver, and Kinsley, an aspiring photographer, shared an undeniable connection. However, circumstances led to the heartbreaking end of their relationship.
Eight years later, fate brings them back together with the help of Jace’s younger sister. Now, both are single parents—Jace raising his son, Beckham, and Kinsley raising her son, Cooper, who are just a year apart in age. When their boys meet, they quickly become inseparable friends.
Jump Start is a heartfelt story of second chances, love, and family bonds.
I actually really enjoyed this book. First arc I’ve read that I’ve been excited to pick up. Have never read a racing/formula 1 book and with my connection to racing in real life I was hooked. I thought the romance was actually very cute and the little kids in the book, ugh loved them, they made it so much better. I’m not a huge fan of instalove but the twist in this book actually made me okay with that trope.
The ending, dramatic. Found myself rolling my eyes, didn’t feel like it needed to end that way but what ever. Still gave it four stars. I also felt like the writing was a little repetitive, not the story itself, just the writing. I would try another book written by this author for sure!
So I was totally going into the book blindly because I wanted to be surprised by anything that could happen and let me tell you I was haha 😂
This book was sent to me as an ARC and I am so grateful to have been able to read it! It was such an amazing book and i absolutely loved it! The two main characters were so perfect for each other! I knew it was a second chance romance but let me tell you…very different than most second chance romances. I loved it!! I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
Thankyou @kaylajames and @LoveNotesPR for the chance to read review Jump Start.
Jump Start is book 2 in The Grid Series, a second chance sports romance by Kayla James. Whilst it can be read as a stand-alone, I do suggest reading Lights Out as well Jace, a top race car driver and kinsley a photographer both need a fresh start, and what better then to do it with each other. Both our MC's are single parents as well which is on top of the world!!. Jace is so sweet and the emotions you will have reading this will have you wanting more.
Tropes Include: 💌 Second Chance 💌 Sports Romance 💌 Single Dad AND Mom 💌 Race Car Driver x Team Photographer 💌 Golden Retriever x Shy Girl
Jump Start is a heartfelt tale of love, second chances, and the unexpected twists life can throw your way. I totally gave it a 4 stars and Jace is getting into my book boyfriend's list! Kayla James masterfully balances humor, romance, and emotional depth, creating a story that feels both relatable and magical. It’s a perfect read for anyone who loves a blend of lighthearted romance and poignant storytelling, and I’ll definitely be looking forward to more books from this author.
Jace and Kinsley get a second chance at love when Kinsley becomes a photographer for Jace’s formula 1 team.

I really enjoyed the dual pov in this book. It was a good mix of emotional & funny! The formula 1 aspect was also really well done. I'm excited for the third book-that storyline was set up really well!

there were some very cute aspects (loved the single boy parents) and overall it was enjoyable, but it felt a bit too insta lovey and then the gap in timeline was huge. the ending felt pretty rushed and I didn’t quite buy some parts.
