Aurora Scuderi spent her childhood and teenage days doing one thing-- loving Nevio. Until one fateful moment, he breaks her heart without a second thought. Leaving Aurora with her broken heart bleeding in her hands. Fleeing Las Vegas is the only way for Aurora to heal - forget Nevio and that night. But a man like Nevio can’t be shaken off that easily. The hunter in him was awakened.
Nevio Falcone is darkness. It seeps from his pores. It’s where his monster comes out to play to satisfy its cravings. Until he starts to crave something other than carnage: the one woman he shouldn’t pursue - Aurora.
What Nevio craves, he ruins. He told her to keep her distance. Now it’s too late to run away. Consequences be damned.
First of all, to whoever spread the rumor that RemoFina filed for divorce, i hope all your social accounts get banned. I felt genuinely distraught after reading that spoiler. I rushed through the whole book only to find out halfway that it was false. IT WAS UNFUNNY. f you 😒
Idk how but very skillfully Cora turned this book into garbage. The level of misogyny in this book and the dumbest, eye-roll worthy scenes were unbearable. The characters are so pathetic and whiny and hated them sfm except massimo and Carlotta 😌 and Alessio too. I hate that I wasted my time.
➤ NEVIO AND AURORA:
Nevio is an asshole who thinks he's untouchable because he has an amazing daddy to support him. He's freaking irresponsible, weak-ass who enjoys hurting people for his own fun, and not a good psychopath! Loser had no reason to be this psychopathic, but ofc he blames daddy because he inherited it from him??!!
Not once did this joker try to accept his mistakes, but rather he constantly blamed Remo for kidnapping Seraphina and killing people. Like, please fuck off?
Remo: For the 100th time- Nevio: you kidnapped mom
I thought Aurora would be bad, but it turns out Nevio was worse. Aurora is dumb but way better than Nevio. She had a crush despite his insufferable personality, and she did put on a tough act for the majority of the book. also pretty boring too 🤦🏻♀️ she's literally the friend who keeps going back to her ex because well pathetic.
Was it hormones or is Cora always this misogynistic? Nevio literally had no manners and no regard for the opposite gender for no reason. Calling someone pussy-flapped zombie or readhead bitch randomly is not cool. KILLING THEM FOR NO REASON IS NOT COOL.
“Those stupid brothers had definitely all banged flappy-pussy-zombie.”
“Maybe even your hymen is still intact because I doubt I was really in all the way.”
You'd think I'm growing a conscience because I hated when Nevio killed the coffee shop guy for flirting with Aurora.
“I don’t feel pity, and I fucking love hurting others. Yet you think I would send him off with a little warning like a normal guy?”
The whole reason for this 'second-chance romance' or to give Nevio something to begin his obsession with Rory is fucked up. I hated how everyone blamed Nevio for having sex with Rory while he was not in his senses. He didn't even know the girl who entered was her and told her to leave. She's so freaking dumbass and horny that she had to have sex with him. She knew he didn't even realize it was Aurora and was on the verge of passing out, but of course, she'd use this opportunity to test her feelings for him. Now it wasn't even sex, just when he thrusted inside her, she threw up all over him, and he passed out. too disgusting and rory took his advantage!
She also started hating him after this whole incident as if this was the perfect eye opener for her?? and Massimo Alessio blamed Nevio for hurting her is fucked up. He doesn't even remember anything at all! Nevio is definitely an asshole, but even he stayed away from her. In this whole scene, it was Rory who pursued him and wanted to have sex with him. disgusting asf!
Rory left and Nevio's personality totally flipped, and he became a stalker. Now these scenes weren't actually bad, the stalking and being obsessed with her while she's rejecting him were kind of fun to read until he started hurting innocent people just because they showed interest in her. They both lacked chemistry and the smut was cheap! umm and also, he never cheated on her!
➤ THAT CHILD FFS 😭
Batista? I thought the name would be changed but nope. What is BA TIS TA? Literally eww 😭 And yes, he's Nevio's child. Yes, Nevio's a manwhore. yes, Nevio is a dumbass who fucked without a condom. Also, yes, he's the one who said he'd drop his son in front of the hospital because he's a pussy loser who can't take responsibility because, he said and I quote, "I'm young."
this whole baby plot literally exaggerated the book, i was actually having some fun before it but obv something had to ruin it. the problem isn't the child even, i just hated how Nevio didn't give a fuck about the child and was ready to leave him and dumped him on Rory. Even GretaAmo are better than these. 🤢 and Nevio's whole Italy trip was useless and he also told that he realized that he should be better when he got SHOT and nearly died. WHY IS THIS SCENE TOLD? should've preferred his pov of that scene but ofc it was already out of the words limit!
THE OG DADDY AND PSYCHO IS REMO!! No one can ever surpass him, and i just know that Cora can never write a character like him again. Even Nevio sucked, and i don't know why I'm supposed to tolerate his psychotic behavior when he grew up in a healthy family? No traumas, no toxic/abusive parents, but still he's bloodthirsty and has no morals. Remo is the OG psycho broken character. The perfect brother, ruler and lover! Gonna reread his book 🤭 #RemoFalconeIsSuperior
➤ Massimo & Carlotta
THE CUTEST AND THE BEST COUPLE! THEY LEGIT CARRIED THIS BOOK. They outshined literally everyone. I love them sfm and they remind me of KiaraNino and they're aaaaghhh so freaking cute 😭 Massimo is literally so obsessed with her.
❝I simply admire the perfect angles of her face. It’s rare for nature to follow the perfect geometrical patterns to create something this pleasing to the eye.❞
Man is so poetic too! They carried this whole book! Alessio and Isabella sounds good too but for me, it's massimo ehhehe 😩😩
reminder: lower my freaking expectations and not to touch Cora's books unless it's massimo and Carlotta now!
Cora needs to retire, i beg. having Nevis get another woman pregnant and dumping the kid on Aurora while he is travelling is so nasty.
Cora truly is, at her core, a troubled misogynist who needs to heal from whatever trauma she endured to make her hate women so bad. the way she writes about women is deeply disturbing. seek professional help🐔

By Frenzy I Ruin is (at the time of writing this review) Cora's lowest rated book ever at a 3.35 average rating.
the good:
*Massimo/Carlotta, they shone through this book. They remind me so much of Nino/Kiara. I know their story has so much potential. *Carlotta, she's such a great friend, she seems like an intelligent girl, and strong in her beliefs. She's having trouble with her heart condition. I love it when Massimo worries about her. Literally fangirling. *Alessio/Isa, they're apparently already getting it on, how??? *Isabella, she's such an interesting character. She's a writer. *Maximus/Sara we got a little scene and they have my heart. *Diego/Antonia!!! They are married. I just like them. I'm glad they are happy. *Aurora's bond with Battista. When he called her mom I admit it made me cry. When she thought the Falcones would take the child away from her I cried harder. *I know people are saying Aurora was a doormat, but still I found her pretty likable. *I'm so surprised I guessed she could become a nurse. I like that we were shown that at least a little bit. *Aurora's time in New York. *The first half of the book was good and I actually enjoyed it. *I liked Nevio's jealousy scenes. *Some of the chapters at the end were good. Nevio did some groveling. I thought it was decent groveling. *It still had the trademark Cora. It keeps you reading, Do you like where the story is going? Probably not. Do you want to know more? Yes. It was still easy to read and not boring.
the bad
*Nevio killing Marco and torturing anyone who got close to Aurora. I thought that was a bit much. I get he was over the top but it didn't look good. *Aurora's 'first time', she came onto Nevio while he was drunk and high. He was barely conscious and hanging onto his one brain cell. He didn't even recognize her. He thought she was a random girl. Still, she thought it was a good idea to have sex with him in that state as a virgin. He literally put it in, immediately came with a 'fuck!' and passed out cold. Aurora threw up from the pain, as obvi she was probably dry. He doesn't remember and Aurora is upset. I felt bad for Rory but at the same time, Nevio was incapacitated. It was such a messed-up situation *The sex scenes were bad. I fell asleep twice and there was another scene with a dirty knife, just gross. Poor Aurora prob got some disease. Go get tested girl! She must have gotten at least a UTI from the leather polish. *Nevio leaving his kid with Aurora to go find himself with the Italian Camorra. While it was interesting to see this other side of the Camorra. What was the point? The only reason he had this 'epiphany' and snapped out of it was because he had a near-death experience. He could've had that near-death experience in Las Vegas. The trip per se was totally useless, just to create a long separation of about a year. Which makes me wonder, if he hadn't had this near-death experience, then what? He would've continued being the way he was. He is weak, and can't get a grip on himself. *The most disappointing part was that this near-death experience was not shown. We are just told it happened. I would've liked to see things and get his POV.
the ugly:
*The last half of the book *Let's talk about the big elephant in the room, Nevio's son whom he had with a one-night stand. This was like a bucket of ice-cold water. I wasn't expecting it and was shocked. I have to give Cora props for daring to write it. I don't think anyone anticipated she would go there. *The way Nevio acted when he found out he was a father was disgusting! He was a deadbeat and a coward. Remo is not my cup of tea but I can even admit that he was a good father. So much for the Falcones being proud of their name and blood blah blah blah. Nevio didn't want anything to do with his son and even considered dumping him in a hospital. We are talking about a future Capo of the Camorra here, his own son. *I'm upset that this child, Aurora named him Battista, is going to be the future Capo instead of Fabiano's grandson. A Capo with Falcone and Scuderi blood. It would've been his reckoning truly. Maybe Cora is planning to give Nevio/Rory only daughters, and then everyone will be like, 'whew! good thing Nevio had this child with a random woman so he can carry the Falcone name.' WTF. *At least he had this kid before he got together with Aurora. At least... *I honestly wish this had been the surprise pregnancy book in the second gen, alas.
predictions:
* I'm pretty sure Isa/Alessio are the pregnancy trope in the next gen. The whole thing with them seemingly already having sex, the pregnancy tests, and Alessio saying he doesn't imagine himself a father. I took all that as foreshadowing. * Sara/Maximus story will make us all cry :/ * Valerio is interested in a brown-haired woman. I think he is not the character for the MM story then...
Final thoughts: Surprisingly I didn't hate it, there were some good parts. I think it set up future books nicely. At least it didn't leave me with an awful feeling at the end.
Never EVER am I reading a book by this author Cause what do you mean he gets another woman pregnant and dumps the baby on rory so he could go “find himself” ?
This whole second generation has been a mistake, and the fact that she almost had two years to write bfir and ended up writing this.
Cora babe, it’s time to put the pen down 😭 and idc if I’m being mean. Mean is hyping up a book for years, and changing up the release date MULTIPLE time for this to be the end result.
Not gonna lie, I skimmed this. I already had most spoilers and then I wanted to see if “the context” that so many people screamed “would make things make sense” is actually gonna make it a book worth reading.
Newsflash: it didn’t.
So I believe this book deserves its ONE STAR wholeheartedly.
On the surface this might not look like the worst thing ever written - Cora (surprisingly- or NOT - depends how you look at it) has written worse - Fragile Longing anyone? but this one certainly hit all my triggers.
This was embarrassing. In all aspects. Like everyone else of the same opinion, I believe the first fault lies with the main characters. But the storyline and the writing was equally bad.
I don’t understand this obsession with writing men whose only indication of being alpha, or hot or whatever other similar descriptor is to make them needlessly promiscuous and also supposedly “crazy” and with “traumas/demons”.
I could understand that with the older gen guys. They truly had traumatising childhoods and young adult lives. All of them experienced parental neglect and abuse and so many other things. They were forced into being killers and merciless, but Nevio? What’s his problem. Based on the last book I thought Cora was maybe gonna bring some mental health issue into his character or something?!
Yes, Nevio without a doubt is an absolute waste of life. I don’t care about his “redemption” arc. It wasn’t enough. It wasn’t ok. As a capo people might be persuaded to believe in him if they didn’t know better: I’d be afraid of my life is that man was going to be a leader and responsible for my life and my money. I’d be freaking out cause he is incapable of taking advice, hearing different points of view and making a thought out decision. And as a person to be with, marry and have children with. Hell NO. He is wasted potential. And what I feel is bad for his parents. Remo and Serafina both fought so much in their lives to get what they have. Especially Remo, no matter how many flaws he had, he protected and loved all of his family. He had a big sense of loyalty towards his own blood. And I counted that as a virtue which not many people possess. So to see their son be a spoiled, entitled, arrogant, piece of garbage felt like a kick to the gut. Cause I loved those characters, and I’m not saying Nevio had to be perfect, but he lacked in every aspect. He had it all, literally. Not many people can count themselves so lucky, but he constantly victimised himself or passed judgement on the actions of others like he was some freaking authority. You’re a little shit with no life skills - chill, you morally constipated playboy wannabe. Nevio acted like nothing applied to him, not even basic biology. No matter how much you excuse some things based on youth or stupidity there are some issues that just can’t be explained away.
Also what was Cora trying to do always talking about Nevio’s demons and inner monster? He’s a little bitch who likes killing cause he can. If his daddy didn’t own Vegas and the police he would have been long dead or in jail with the rest of the “scum” he likes to send to the undertaker. He was beyond pathetic, and lacking any sense of morality or respect for others. His killings are not always justified but he somehow justifies it. He’s not a psychopath- it’s not medical, he can clearly feel love and care but he didn’t nurture that. In Greta’s book I noticed he was all about “me me me” - trying to own his sister and her decisions just cause he wanted to keep his life the same, but I thought it was just him dealing with the possible separation. This book cleared it up. He was just a self centred prick.
Rory was … I don’t even know what she was. She had nothing and I mean nothing going for her except that she was obsessed with Nevio. And you know what? They deserve each other. Why would I say she deserve better when she literally is an empty vessel with a doorknob personality whose only goal was to fuck Nevio then to do anything possible to fuck Nevio again. Then have some crisis and scream that you hate him but then think about fucking him right back.
The “love” she claimed to have, I don’t think in any way that was healthy or was it what love is supposed to be. It was all so shallow and based on nothing concrete. She wanted him like a goal, a prize (not that he’s anything like a prize but hey to each stupid girl their own huh?) Also, her and Nevio’s first time was rapey. If Nevio was a girl, I’d be screaming rape. So many authors do not see it like that (cause I saw this scene in multiple books and it’s always the girl who is feeling wronged lol) . Simply cause she’s a girl. But if she was incapable of making decisions and one of her friends took advantage, what would she feel? She gave me Sophia flashbacks (iykyk).
I don’t understand why Cora wrote another woman with no spine, no respect, no care for herself before anyone else. Just cause she said some cutting and strong words here and there IT DOES NOT COUNT. When he left that child with her I wanted her to go to her dad straight away with the boy and explain everything. That’s a LIFE, a child who needs a family and more than a clueless 18 year old infatuated girl, you dumbass, one brain celled, idiot. You don’t hide it away because his basically teenage brained dad, decided so. He’s clearly not capable of caring for anyone but himself.
She could have been amazing. She could have become a DOCTOR. She could have finished a residency and then come back home and then reconnected with her childhood crush who is changed and matured?! That would have been so much better. It would have shown us a fulfilled person who made use of every resource she had (a loving and loaded family lol). Instead she let herself become a single 18 year old mom to a kid that wasn’t hers and was the product of the “wild, irresponsible life” the love of her life had. A life where he was above condoms. Moron. And let’s not make it seem like she was just being kind and loving to a little orphan child. We all know if the Falcones knew they would have taken and loved that boy dearly. Every single one of them - except his dad, of course — so that boy didn’t need an 18 year old girl as a mother figure. She did that to have a connection to Nevio. Desperate much? Girl, get a grip.
Rory was a version of mostly every other Cora heroine. She had a submissive mafia woman vibe and it infuriates me because she grew up in the most liberal syndicates and what did she do with her life? Pant after a boy? I’m beyond disappointed. Nevio being a shit is one thing but when my heroines have no respect for themselves I can’t get over it.
I don’t have much else to add. I liked the snippets of the other characters - mostly - I might have missed some since I did skim a lot cause some parts got me extra mad. The second hand embarrassment and disappointment was strong in this one.
That being said, while a lot of people didn’t like Amo&Greta, I really enjoyed that book. It was the only one in the next gen that I actually fully read and basically loved, so I’m not gonna say I’m not reading any other release BUT I’m definitely here for the spoilers so I can decide.
I feel like Cora completely forgot these characters and their personalities, I understand character development but here these characters feel like different people The only good thing about this book were the secondary characters, like Alessio (love him so much), Massimo, Isabella, Carlotta and the rest of Falcones. The way Aurora was written made want to throw this book away. She had no backbone and allowed Nevio to treat her like shit, take advantage of her and she took it as a good thing because he trusted her???? This sounds pathetic And the audacity of Nevio to just leave her alone with his kid to fend for herself, he has lost his mind. He did not deserve to be with her or anyone for that matter. I would have been more lenient if in the time when he was away, she actually dated other guys and tried to move on, but no, why would she? I really hope Alessio and Massimo books are going to be better coz this wasn't it. She better not ruin my favourite Falcones.
𝟎𝟑/𝟐𝟖/𝟐𝟒 .·:*¨༺ 𝐀𝐑𝐂 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 ༻¨*:·. ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ 2/5★’s My most anticipated book release… sadly turned out disappointing. I don’t know how to feel about this book. This book had so much potential, she set up these two perfectly in By Fate I Conquer, but the execution was not it. I truly wanted to love Nevio and Aurora with all my heart. I've waited for these two since last summer, but I just couldn’t love this book as much as I had hoped. My friends here know I couldn't shut up about this book, I kept posting about this like crazy. I was so excited for this one 😭
Cora Reilly has been receiving a lot of hate and threats recently but let's not come at her for writing a bad book. Yes this book wasn't her best work, but let's turn the hate down a notch. And this review is of my own personal opinion so please don't come at me for them.
Cora Reilly has a thing where she sets up good characters and plot, but the execution is the problem. The world building, character relationships and plots was what made me love her books. But this tends to drive us away from the main characters, and make us more focused on them than our main couple.
See Nevio and Aurora did not feel like the main characters here, they did not interest me in any way. They were pretty boring and bland; they didn’t capture my attention or interest me enough compared to the secondary characters/couples. For me the secondary characters managed to carry this book for me, Alessio really did it for me in this book. He barely made a long enough appearance but he managed to pique my interest to the point where I didn’t care about the main characters anymore. Along with Massimo, Carlotta, Isabella, and Valerio, the more they appeared, the more interested I was.
Alessio and Isabella who barely had a full scene, just one line or two and I was sold. I WANT THEM. I NEED THEM. Massimo and Carlotta were so adorable I can’t wait to read their book. They had the most scenes in this book and like I said barely had a full scene together and they had more chemistry and development than Nevio and Aurora. Their backs must hurt too much from carrying this book.
From what I read previously he is a complex character indeed. He embodies darkness and demons that he has trouble controlling. But in this book he just seemed immature, irresponsible, and crazy. I did not see that psychopathic side of him except when he throws tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. His response to everything is violence and murder. I did enjoy his stalking and jealousy, I live for those scenes.
Lots of controversy surrounding the fact that he had a baby with another woman. (No cheating thank god this was before anything happened) Ok not a big fan that Nevio got someone else pregnant but it's not too much of a big problem for me. My only issue is that he dumped his own child on Aurora and made her take care of him for weeks. He was ready to abandon his own child, he didn’t care about him. That is my issue. And he left for Italy to “find himself." I understand he knew he was losing control, but the least he could have done was take responsibility for his own child and own up to him instead of hiding him like a secret or mistake. The baby is innocent. Many times Rory asked him but he declined and kept avoiding his child and the topic.
When he had to own up to his mistakes and actions, he would always blame it on his father and him inheriting it from him. He always mentions Remo’s past and sins. You don’t even need to reread Twisted Pride, Nevio’s already mentioned it here like 100 times.
Aurora kind of annoyed me. I'm sorry. I gotta admire her strength she's way better than me... she sacrificed so much for him and gave way too many chances when he didn’t deserve it.
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH SOMETHING. Hate me all you want for saying this but I have to get it off my mind. The party scene. Nevio told her to leave and warned her to stay away from him when he is like this. He was literally SO DRUNK and senseless and he warned her. She took advantage of him in his drunken and drugged state to confess and test her and his feelings. I hate how everyone got mad at Nevio for that, like yes he’s an asshole but in this case it was all Rory’s fault. Wth Alessio and Massimo included, they warned Rory about how Nevio is in this state and pretty much saw her still saunter off to him and yet they still blamed and got pissed at Nevio? Rory did this to herself. I'm sorry, if this was Cora’s way of setting up their little relationship and chase. Im not a big fan.
Let’s be honest had this party scene not happen, their relationship would never as well. There was a scene where it was admitted too: “𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙙 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩.” "𝙔𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛𝙛 𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙨."
»--•--« From the things I've heard about Nevio I'm worried now.... please don't tell let it be true I'm depending on this book to take me out of my slump 😭
Okay first things first Cora Reilly doesn’t deserve hate & death threats I understand everyone’s anger & frustration but let’s keep it in our review kay?
I need the big three AKA ⬇️
Penelope Douglas Rina kent Cora Reilly
To stop writing second gen series if they didn’t have fully formed ideas for the characters or couples I promise if you guys just want to stop now i think a majority of the readers would love that ….
Look I wasn’t expecting nevio to be some kind of prince obviously but I couldn’t deny it quite frankly makes no sense for him to act this way he grew up in a loving household. There are no excuses I can give to justify it just that he’s a “ Bad boy” doesn’t work for me bc it comes of so Corny especially in a mafia setting.
This had the potential to be a really good story in some parts I can really feel nevio and Rory’s connection but it would flatten out by Cora’s obsessive need to make aurora over the top crazy for nevio with thoughts like “ omg he’s amazing & beautiful and he only sees me as a little sister he needs to see me as a woman” ….. girl chill tf out with it how can you write these girls who grow in the mafia and not know anything abt the ppl they grew up with?
How is she this blind to his treatment of her. when she’s know him her entire life and has even seen some of the things he’s done? That’s not really giving childhood friends to lovers if they’ve know each other their whole life?
Which brings me to that famous scene in the book of Rory loosing her v-card to a drunk nevio and him not remembering it at all bc he thought she was a random girl …. Y’all remember Sophia?
Look babes it brings me back to that whole how are we supposed to believe these girls are this ignorant growing up in the damn mafia and not knowing anything abt sex or that both ppl have to be sober to remember it?
In a lot of ways I don’t get her anger at nevio? Why are you constantly surprised here? How can you claim to love him when you apparently don’t know anything abt him? It’s that big of a crush girl?
Rory reminds me of a mix from Sophia from fragil longing and Aoife from saving 6 by Chloe Walsh.
Tbh what I had a problem with in this book is Rory’s devotion to nevio? What is it? Why is it? She apparently don’t really know him and when she Pretends she does she get confused or hurt by his actions? Huh
There were a few really good scenes tho that had sm potential like when Rory went to New York Cora could have built sm on that and tbh she should have made Carlotta go with her and isa her & lotta could have been like a trio and we get some fun scenes of them in New York like nevio has with alessio & massimo.
Instead she chooses to lay Rory’s character development of regressing back to nevio to further their relationship whiles she’s in New York? It was very odd to me you have the development right there and instead you choose some corny gimmick we’ve read countless times before to show “omg nevio does care abt her”
Rory’s character development relies on solely being there for nevio. Loving nevio . Hating nevio . Caring abt nevio . Nevio nevio nevio like I said girl obsessed.
The final draw back for me and I think for everyone els was when it turned out nevio had a baby with someone els bc he sometimes doesn’t use condoms and bc he’s so crazy and what a bad boy am i right? He’s just not like other boys guys.
Honestly okay maybe I could have moved past that but Jesus he basically dumped the kid on aurora and bounced even when he was around he barely did anything.
And it was so ridiculous bc who wanted to see him knock up Someone els and make Rory a girl at 18 three years younger than him take care of his kid and makes sure she doesn’t say anything to anyone all by her self?
I ask you does that really sound like a crazy sexy bad boy This book is trying to sell & that everyone is trying to defend and say he’s just being true to his character… or does he sound more like one of the deadbeats on Maury Povich who deny they are the father and can’t pay child support?
You tell me. Bc honestly after that I was kinda just done w him & Rory they were both to ridiculous for me to deal with but entertaining bc it was so horrible to read.
And poor rory her character wasn’t even her own just a backdrop for nevios character to show us how “ crazy “ & “ out of control” he is
I think for now I’m done with Cora’s second gen maybe I’ll give her other books a try I’ll probably tune in when alessio & isa get a book.
I don’t understand why Cora is writing the second generation like this. The mafia trope is barely present. The characters are immature. The romance is nonexistent. This had so much potential—just like the other books. And again, I’m disappointed. I have yet to swoon or feel remotely attracted to any of the second generation guys and the girls? They’re embarrassing and utterly cringe worthy.
*me reading most of the spoilers and knowing what happens*
*also me being a little delulu*: Maybe Nevio dumped the baby right at the start of the book, runs away to Italy for a few weeks and then spends 95% of the book groveling to Aurora and the baby aka Battista
Fast forward to me reading the book and being an absolute clown when all this shit happens in the second half of the book with Nevio running away to Italy as the worst ‘break up act’ ever. Y’all that boy is a clown 🤡 that’s not Remofina’s son. Their only child is Greta.
I never thought I would say this, but Amo Vitiello for best 2nd generation Capo 🧚♀️
Anyway, I’m ready for Cora’s ghostwriter to come back and give us Massimo x Carlotta, cause I’m invested in them 🌚

I waited for Nevio's book for so long. This is one of my anticipated books for this year. I really took my time in reading this.
Now here we are.
I'm so disappointed that it took me almost a month to get through it. Nevio is really the definition of crazy - his twisted shit is indeed different from his father.
What infuriated me the most here was Aurora. I can't even put it into words. Her character frustrated me to death that I want to strangle her! Ugh.
The only thing that prevented me from giving this a 1 star is the appearance of my beloved Capos and their wives - LucaAria and RemoSerafina. I missed them so bad. NinoKiara too!
Is it crazy to think that Alessio and Isabella might be the couple that I should've shipped instead of them?
***
Ever since the release of By Fate I Conquer, I cannot contain my excitement for Nevio's book. Since that scene with Aurora, I cannot forget him. I have to read his book no matter what it takes.
I'm a weirdo, but Camorra fans will understand me. Haha.
I don't care what everyone says about this book, I loved it so much!!! I couldn't put it down for a second.. Thank you Cora for writing this amazing book I can't wait for your next book🥹
Doesn't worth the hype at all I was so excited to read Nevio's book coz i wanted to see how this unhinged maniac falls in love, but it was a total disaster 🤮 Didn't really get Aurora's attitude too one minute she just wanted to fuck Nevio even if he was so out of it next minute she became so bitter for what he did... I mean girl get your mind straight Then, helping him with his child from another woman, when he's out there having his nightly hunts as if nothing major happened is a major pushover behaviour. Girl has no spine and self respect acting as a no.1 doormat And don't even get me started on Nevio, he is so self centred i can't really imagine him really loving someone. I really liked him in by fate i conquer, but in his own book he is an ASSHOLE. Both of them have no clarity of their feelings and were just out there messing the book. The only thing which helped me to complete the book is the tiny snippet of Carlotta and Massimo. I hope they will have a good book and not a fucked one like this.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
It’s no secret that I’ve been disappointed with this next gen series. With each new book, I think maybe the previous book wasn’t as bad. I kept my expectations low for BFIR. I think Cora does a good job with family scenes, but I haven’t been thrilled with some of the plotlines and the execution of the next gen stories. When you’ve waited a long time for something, you hope to like it.
I opted to avoid spoilers for this book. I know a lot of people were really upset. I had so much anxiety reading the story bc my mind was going in all directions wondering what happened. Well, I’m going back to wanting spoilers bc I got some not so good surprises in this one.
Tropes Cora announced for BFIR and one surprise trope: - Friends to lovers - Enemies to lovers (it’s complicated!) - Touch her and die - OTT (over the top hero) Nevio is the definition of OTT… - Stalker - Second chance -
Aurora Scuderi
There are multiple time jumps in the story, so I got confused on ages. I think Rory is 15/16 when the story starts. It does show her at 18 for a good portion of the story. It goes up to I think around 21 ½. Rory is the daughter of Leona and Fabiano Scuderi. Fabi is the Enforcer of the Las Vegas Camorra. He is like a brother to Remo Falcone(Capo of Las Vegas Camorra). Rory grew up next door to the Falcones. The two families are very close. Rory has been in love with Nevio Falcone all her life. She is a tomboy that loves skateboarding. She wants to become a nurse.
Nevio Falcone
Future Capo of Las Vegas Camorra, son of Serafina and Remo Falcone. When Nevio was little his uncle Nino said he was a lethal combination of his uncles Adamo, Savio, and his dad Remo.
The opening scene with Unholy Trinity on their nightly adventure to a crack house gave me ocd. This woman comes at Nevio with an ax and Massimo says she has genital herpes and syphilis. At least, Nevio mentioned that Nino tests them bc I wondered about those mafia guys getting tested.
Unholy Trinity-Nevio and his cousins Alessio and Massimo. I like their dynamic and that they are each other’s ride or die. I like that Nevio doesn’t hold being future capo over their heads. They can tell him off. I like that Alessio has this Robin Hood complex. Somehow he found out about Nino/Kiara not being his bio parents, but it doesn’t seem like he knows about the dumpster baby part.
In BFIC, I found Rory’s crush on Nevio cute and liked their scenes together. In BFIC, I found Nevio entertaining. I found some parts of this book boring and I didn’t think I would say that about Nevio’s book. I liked how Nevio was with Rory at the beginning of this story. Growing up, he was always nice to her. He cheered her on when she skateboarded. There was this really sweet scene where he gave her a necklace to replace the one she lost. He gave her his sweater bc she was cold. I like that side of Nevio.
I think Nevio developed a complex. Growing up, Nevio was used to hearing people refer to him as a monster. Even Nevio’s bff/cousins called him a blackhole. You could tell it bothered him when his family would say stuff. When his feelings began to change for Rory, he started pushing her away bc feared he would hurt her. At first, I did feel a little bad for Nevio. Later, Nevio really screwed up big time.
I hoped there would be more scenes with Nevio/ Greta(Nevio’s twin) in the book. There was 1 scene with them talking in person and 1 scene talking on the phone. No Amo/Nevio interaction either.
I’m glad Savio has two daughters Luna and Caterina.
Savio sauntered toward me. “My favorite psychopath.” He clapped my shoulder. “And the reason I’m happy being a girl dad.”
Carlotta- I loved Carlotta. She is Rory’s bff/ Gemma’s little sister. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Lotta had to get a heart transplant when she was a child. I was happy to see her in good health most of the book. Sadly, Lotta’s health began to deteriorate towards end of the story. She will prob need another transplant. I was sad to find out that Lotta’s mother died. Carlotta lives with her older brother Diego and his wife Antonia(Gemma’s bff).
Massimo/Carlotta- They were a highlight of this book. Massimo is a genius like his dad. It was so sweet how protective he was of Carlotta. It reminded me of his parents Nino/Kiara. I hope he has been celibate like Nevio said. I do have hope for their story. I pray their story is good.
“I simply admire the perfect angles of her face. It’s rare for nature to follow the perfect geometrical patterns to create something this pleasing to the eye.”
It does show some of Greta/Amo’s reception w/updates on future couples:
Sara/Maximus- I’m scared for their story bc I worry that Sara might have been gang raped. She was promised to om, but something happened and she married Maximus instead. Sara has lost weight and shies away from Maximus.
Isa/Alessio- Isa wants to become a writer/ likes writing dark books. I was confused bc it seemed like they hooked up at the wedding. It seemed an odd leap since she was so traumatized over the kidnapping(by Unholy Trinity). She had to skip a year of school bc of her trauma. I just have a bad feeling about their book. I feel that it will get ruin somehow.
Chapter 11: The Party
I get worried when there are party scenes in books, especially in Cora’s books. Fabi and Diego allow Rory and Lotta to attend a party with the Unholy Trinity. Ever since BFIC, I wondered what Nevio did to make Rory run off to N.Y..
N.Y.- I was glad to see some of Rory’s time in N.Y. I’m happy that she is close with her Aunt Aria and becoming closer with family there. For a long time, I wondered if Rory had any relationship with them since her dad had a strained relationship with his sisters. I wish there were more scenes in N.Y.
I thought the book was ok until the “incident” in chapter 11. Then, chapter 20 surprise on top of that just ruined the book for me.
Chapter 20 and several other chapters-
I was told by a Goodreads friend look out for chapter 20. It almost felt like two different books. Before chapter 20 and this big U turns in chapter 20. For me, it almost felt like a bad fanfiction. Why? I’m still in shock over this whole thing.
Parent povs- All four parents do have pov chapters towards the end of the story. I did like those. You get to see a tiny bit of Greta/Amo’s first Christmas together at the Falcone’s.
Separation-
Ending- I think it skips ahead around 2 ½ years.
Safety Info: Spoilers Ahead
Rory(h) virgin-Nevio is her first and only everything
Nevio (H)- manwhore
Nevio goes on some killing sprees that are mentioned but not shown. After Greta’s wedding he slaughtered bar full of people and kind of blacked out, so doesn’t remember it all. It does show killing some people at a crackhouse in the beginning. At one point, he ends up in jail and Remo has to get his out.
OW drama- There is some altercation btw Nevio and ow at a party. She slaps him and he grabs her throat. Surprise baby with ow! A French girl that Nevio had a ons with shows up with his 9 month old son. He doesn’t remember her. She tells him he can leave the baby in the desert, so he gets mad and chokes her /slams her against the car. She rides off and isn’t shown again.
H-OTT possessive/jealous
Friends to lovers
Second chance romance
Nevio chased his little brother around the house throwing ninjutsus at him. I hated that part. He gets mad that Guilio poured water on him to wake him up. Nino said Guilio didn’t need stitches.
OM drama- Marcos- a barista that tries to flirt with Rory while she is at a coffee shop in N.Y. Nevio killed him(not shown). I felt bad at first bc he seemed nice. However, Nevio said the guys ex had a restraining order against him bc he tried to break in her place and left dead birds for her. I didn’t feel so bad after that.
Nevio sticks a firework up some guys butt at a party bc he tried to talk to Rory. Nevio slit his own wrist.
Gigimo- a guy Rory has known for several years from the racetrack. He seemed like a nice guy. Nevio broke half the bones in his body(not shown). I’m glad he didn’t kill the guy.
Gioele- He is a new doctor at the hospital where Rory works. He rides her home sometimes so her dad doesn’t have to. He’s married. Nevio runs him down with his car(not shown). He doesn’t kill him. Rory isn’t interested in any of the guys. She does get upset that Nevio hurts om, but gets over it fast.
No cheating
No Sharing
Stalking- Nevio stalks Rory for maybe 2 weeks while she is in N.Y.
“I haven’t slept with a girl since I visited you in New York. I tried after our night at the party, but like I said, you are stuck in my head, and I have a feeling it’ll be impossible to get you out.”
9 months separation- Nevio goes to Italy to find himself. Both celibate during separation.
Non con acts- Nevio is drunk, high, and slit his wrist at a party and Rory decided to give him her v-card. He doesn’t even know it’s her /she knows that he doesn’t know it’s her. Nevio breaks into Rory’s camper. Rory is dreaming about Nevio. Nevio touches her and goes down on her and she doesn’t wake up.
Separation- Rory goes to N.Y. for 6 weeks. Nevio says he tried to get with ow after the party, but hasn’t been with anyone since stalking Rory in N.Y.
Panty thief-Nevio likes to take Rory’s panties.
Knife Play- (consensual) Nevio throws a knife into the air and catches it by the blade. He bangs Rory with the hilt of the knife while he holds the blade. He has her suck on the hilt afterward. Rory enjoys it. Ew.
No protection!-Protection wasn’t used Nevio/ Rory’s first time together. Nevio didn’t use protection with baby mama. Nevio said he occasionally forgot to use protection/ didn’t remember much from party nights :( There is another sex scene btw Nevio/ Rory where he doesn’t use protection just the old pull out method. Apart of him wanted to get her prego, but pulled out bc he already had Battista. There is another sex scene in Rory’s room where protection wasn’t mentioned.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I haven’t felt this disappointed in a long time. This is even worse than Gemma and Savio and I cannot comprehend what happened. How did we go from men like Nino, Fabi or Growl to this. None of this makes sense. Aurora actions don’t make any sense, and I despised Nevio from the beginning till the end. I’m not going into spoilers but I cannot see anything real or positive in this relationship. Such a waste of the potential.
