Stacia Reynolds, the famous White Werewolf, plucked from her quiet Vermont life and thrust into the supernatural world. Rescued from mauling by the Hammer of God himself, transformed into one of the most skilled weres in the world, stepping from impoverishment to fame and fortune, and destined to become partner to the most powerful witch ever.

well, now I’m a day and a half behind!

I have work to do, John!

How am I going to get it done if I have my nose stuck in your stories?

Somehow, I’ll persevere.

Awesome read!

I enjoyed this book more than I expected, and that's saying something, as this is a Demon Accords book, which has long been one of my favourite series.

As much as I love this series, my personal tastes in stories mean I am rarely interested in prequels or alternate takes of events we have already read from different points of view. I usually find that these stories impede the forward progress of a series and often just expand a story that didn't need to be told in the first place.

Therefore, I was surprised I got so invested in this soft retcon of the Stacia-Declan relationship. These are two of my favourite characters. I really liked them pairing off in the books, and I didn't think that their story needed to be revisited. However, this story delivers much more depth into Stacia's side of things and fills in some gaps of what happened outside of the books we have already read. Despite covering old ground, it did so in a way that made the story that has come before even richer, and as a result, I was hooked.

I will say that my favourite parts of this novel were the completely new elements that happened outside of the stories we have already been told. Seeing Stacia's life outside of the Demidova team was great, and it only left me wanting more. After reading this book, I would be more than happy to see another book written in the same format that details more about how she broke away from the New York Pack, then some new stories of the trials of starting her pack. Stacia makes for a great protagonist, and it is great to see her character get fleshed out even more by focusing on her life in a non-supporting role.

If I had to pick one niggle with this book, it would be that there were a few occasions where it felt like the information in this book contradicted information in other books. Most of that was usually just timeline things and small details that only people like me who have read this series many times by now will probably pick up on, and truthfully, they didn't really impact this story much more than to make me confused for a few moments.

Overall, this was another great outing for this series, and it firmly cements Declan and Stacia as the characters that I love most in this series. I loved the books back when Chris and Tanya took the lead, but Stacia has always had a more likeable personality than Tanya, and Declan just has so much potential that I have always loved their characters. This book just makes that all the clearer to me.

I'd hoped for more
This is part of the prequel / Alternative POV series like Book of Levi & Darkkin Knight.
Except that this has less back story on Stacia Reynolds Than Book of Levi & Darkkin Knight had on Levi or Katrina, and those were side characters and Stacia is supposed to be a main character.
This one has less original material and is more of a rehash than the other two, and if you were hoping for insight into Stacia's character or thought process you'll will be disappointed.
Still, I enjoyed reading the previous two and I enjoyed this one as well.
It's not bad... I just thought Stacia deserved more than this.

I mean, I enjoyed it

But it’s so disjointed it barely qualifies as a book. Events in this are either retellings of stuff in other novels or bits in between, all from Stacia’s POV. I don’t think it’s *possible* to read this without reading the main series first.

There are also several editing notes still visible. Why they weren’t caught before publishing…

Really, this is…unnecessary. It’s nice to see Stacia getting some page space, but it didn’t actually develop anything that wasn’t already there. No new plot points, no new insight.

White Wolf, the latest addition to John Conroe's Demon Accords series, is a fascinating rehash of everything that has transpired since Stacia entered the scene. If you're a longtime fan, you'll recognize many of the same stories and plots from previous books—only this time, you're seeing them through Stacia's perspective.

While it doesn't exactly bring new content to the table, this fresh take on familiar events keeps us fans engaged and offers deeper insights into Stacia's character. It's a clever way for the author to revisit pivotal moments in the series without necessarily advancing the storyline. That said, I’m a little unsure how I feel about Stacia’s arc being so centered around Declan. I like Declan as a character, so it doesn’t bother me too much, but I’d hoped for more independent development for Stacia.

Overall, White Wolf is a fun, engaging read that deepens the series lore without requiring entirely new material. It's worth picking up if you're a fan of the series, even if you already know the main story beats.

I feel like Conroe tried to replicate the success of "The Book of Levi" but missed the point. In this "novel" we stay firmly within the timeline of the known series. No new events are covered. No old events show anything significant that wasn't previously described.

All we get is a new perspective, Stacia's. The problem is that I feel Stacia's take on things was already very obvious. It's not like she had a secret life or was reluctant to share her views. Thus we are left with a rehash of familiar events. The flow wasn't helped by the story jumping forward in time with no warning or guide. Even the classic "three months later" would have helped stitch things together.

In short, I'd rather reread the series for the fourth time, than experience this rehash of the Stacia/Declan romance. It's not bad, but it comes across like a trailer for a favorite movie.

I am enjoying these walks though the past. I was excited when I saw Stacia, forgetting that I didn’t really care for her character early on. Her obsession with Chris and childishness about Tanya irked me. Declan showing up was great. The fact that she remained so insecure is ludicrous. She lost her father young, but everything we know about him says he was a good man. Most of her identity would have already been set. I am going to guess her mom is where the neurosis came from. To go from having a loving husband to a string of abusers doesn’t speak well for her self-esteem either.

Thankfully we got enough kick-ass Stacia to make the book a thrilling read.

Mostly copy and paste - disappointed

This book is mostly about Declan and a little about Stacia. It’s parts of past books, copy and paste 80%. I actually feel this book degraded Stacia. No uniqueness, no amazing fight scenes. It’s through her eyes how she watches Declan grow. So disappointed, so much more could have been done. I feel John Conroe was just being lazy with this book and it shows.

As much as I love the Demon Accords, this was more a recap, but only in certain parts, in Stacia’s POV. We get a very little bit more of the relationship of her and Declan but not any further in the story, in fact, not close to the point we are in the story. This retelling POV was nice but was a small part and didn’t seem to line up with the other books well. Their getting together and the beginning of Omega didn’t line up well. . I enjoyed the recap in the other POV but wanted more especially given that we don’t get much extra.
In addition to the story seen in a different POV there was the telling of the recap, or history of what happens in the other books, it skips whole time periods and then tells what happened, which is a drag. This is a one book recap of the 16 main line books, just as Katrina’s was, but Katrina has the lead up and history of Katrina her life before and the history, this had very little of Stacia and her life before and her history, probably because it is a known entity, being she was turned in the main story and is a teenager herself. Has a little more of her family, mother and a bit of cousins etc.. So I just didn’t appreciate it as I did that Katrina’s or Levi’s. At least not as much as I loved Levi and Katrina was quite good too. It is always nice to come back to the world and characters, I am just waiting for a continuation of the story line and if I’m not getting that then I was more of the story of the character and insight. that would have been of more interest. But it didn’t even get that far in the main storyline. Maybe it was just trying to cover to the point she accepts him as her mate? It is a long book as the story has covered a lot of books.
Good addition but not great and no real addition to the main story so could easily be skipped. Not any great insight and not any new really.

You see a theatrical film version and think "Nice". Later, the director comes out with the 'director's cut' and adds a bunch of stuff. You watch it and think "I completely understand why they cut out all of this stuff. It's not very good and makes the story needlessly convoluted." This is that book.

A whole bunch of extra crap was added to the relationship between the mage and the wolf. It makes her look a bit more dumb with everyone spelling it out rather than sitting back and giving each other knowing glances while she slogs through it on her own, being a 'lone wolf'.

Also, don't love the reader - nor the editing on this one. You can tell she's not a fan from the way she pronounces the vampire head of security name among other things. After a few jarring "WTF" it was like someone told her the correct pronunciation and that gets used from there on. Does anyone go back and edit out the mispronunciations? No.

Also, some weird stuff. Ego, super ego, ID. It's not pronounced "eye dee", it is "id" to sound like "kid" without the K. At first, wrong then wrong then just like the names someone apparently tells her and nobody goes back to fix stuff.

The story itself was a bit of a disappointment to me as it goes back and again retells already trodden ground without pushing the timeline forward. I'm looking forward to getting some 'new content' because it feels like that's lacking.

Another in Conroe's series of character histories, telling the main story (plus a bit) from a different point of view. In this case, that PoV is Stacia Reynolds's.

While some of the other books showed significant sections outside of the main plotline, Stacia's origin story was in a book in this series, and she was onstage for the vast majority of the action. The result is that we see only a different viewpoint, not really much in the way of different information.

The good news is that Stacia is both interesting and likable, so seeing more of her is enjoyable. The bad news is that trying to relate her plot without just repeating the stories of the other books leaves a very disjointed narrative.

I enjoyed this book, because I've read more than 20 books in the series, so I could fill in the gaps. But this would be really frustrating for anyone who hasn't been following the series closely. And as a standalone piece of fiction, it's really not well done.

Only recommended to readers who are entirely up to date with the entire series.

amazing urban fantasy!!!

What fun to relive some amazing portions of a favorite story through the perspective of a different MC!!!
I read tons of Urban Fantasy, and one of my favorite elements is how the author decides on the interaction of modern people and technology with the supernatural. This series brings the relationship of supernaturals and modern tech to a whole new level! How deep the story goes with science, government, and real human emotions and interaction with the supernatural world. By far, John Conroe relates the most realistic approach of any author I've read! And, the plot lines are so superb, I can't put this book down! Amazingly real characters, nonstop unpredictable plot twists, emotional growth, superbly written dialogue, and a fallible MC you want to route for! In fact, the only negative of this series is how it has effected my sleep! I;m up all night reading these nonstop pager turners! Thank you John, you master word-smith!

GOOD AS ALWAYS … “BUT” …

Yes, excellent to hear her side of things but at times I was saying in my head can we just get to this part, or that part … your dragging this out.

Talkingnof dragging things out, how many times do we have to hear her have doubts & go over the same stuff in her head or to colleagues or friends? Though the process of her sorting her head out - despite us knowing the answer - just goes to show the mind games & overthinking that women do - lol 😂

This was far too much dragged out & for that & doing yet another book on the same story from someone else’s view you lose a star on the ratings.

What we want Mr Author is the continuation of the story … not books retelling as already mentioned the same story from another angle / point of view.
Even if you’re good at it & it’s a nice read.

Let’s just move on please …

No one would confuse John Conroe's DEMON ACCORDS series as high literature, but I have to admit that, like a large bucket of buttered popcorn, I consume each volume quickly. I must be a sucker for the motif of overpowered good people fighting bullies, monsters, and supernaturals, pursuing justice, while enjoying each others' company. I mean this is volume 20 and I loved it. Conroe's latest strategy is to go back and retell portions of the main narrative from another character's perspective. This time we see through master werewolf Stacia who is described as "too beautiful for words" and happens to be the partner of Declan, the most powerful witch/warlock ever and college student in Vermont. young witch, which makes for an action-packed romance.

An absolute must read for any Demon Accords fans

I'll start off by saying this series is my absolute favourite, a very close second is The Hellequin series of books, but John's Demon Accords were my first foray into these kind of stories and I've loved them ever since. White Wolf is a brilliant take from Stacia's perspective, one that was needed given people have been questioning her decisions and choices. No spoilers from me just a strong nudge that you absolutely HAVE to read this book if you have any love for TDA. I live in the UK and we don't get the novella here so these releases are great.

I generally liked this novel, but it was mostly filler to me. It was somewhat interesting to get Stacia's viewpoint on a number of scenes which were presented from a different viewpoint, but there was very little additional content to the series. I was actually hoping this would be another Stacia-centric original-content power novel, like Rogues, and so I found this to be a little disappointing.

That said, this novel does give the reader some better understanding of Stacia's point of view on a number of previously produced scenes, and DOES have SOME new content not previously covered in the ongoing saga, so would probably be worth it for solid fans.

the best writer ever

Every time I finish a book of John Conroe I experience utter disappointment. A feeling of sadness. It is over. There are no more pages to read and will have to wait ages before there will be new pages.
Then there’s the fear; will he write another book? You never know, maybe he will retire or just stop writing. What will I do then?

This book is a bit different than the other books. Romance is a bigger part of it as well as sexual tension. I liked that.

Thank you for writing, John. Can I say John?

very good enjoyable read better than Vella

Maybe it is me but I found it better than the Vella. In the afterword JC mentions the Vella readers and comments so maybe he changed some of it. No regrets to buying this full version even having read the Vella. Looking g forward to the next volume and maybe a Vella about Declan’s friend Rory. Maybe could include some of Chris’s police friends since only Gina has continued from the first book. A good addition to my John Conroe Library of books!!

Another great addition to The Demon Accords

I really enjoyed the White Wolf story. It adds background and substance to the characters in the series and I hope this continues . I admit it took two readings to follow the story line due to my reading the book Rogues as it made me think that the relation ship between Declan and Stacia did not exist in any real form until the White Wolf story.
So please Mr. Conroe please keep adding these stories that give additional fun reads to your wonderful series, The Demon Accords.

I love this series, the storyline, the characters and their interactions absolutely everything.
The author was correct, Stacia did not settle for "second prize." Her crush on Chris was based on two things; he saved her and was the only man besides her father (before Declan) that didn't objectivy her. I believe Declan knew from the beginning that Stacia is the only woman for him. He needed the previous relationship with CAECO as a reference. As much as Tanya & Chris were fated so are Stacia & Declan.

Not Much New Here

John Conroe could have saved everyone a lot of time by simply writing the new material, such as it is, as a novella. Unfortunately a significant portion is not new material. A large amount of this novel is copy and paste from previous books in the series and then changing the perspective (ex. “Stacia said” becomes “I said.”). It seems like a cash grab or a quick way to meet a Vella obligation. Whatever the reason, it feels like someone got lazy and just mailed it in.

My favourite fictional universe!

I love this world so much and any chance to explore it further is great. I think Stacia and Declan may be favourite characters and getting to see more past events from Stacia's perspective was really interesting, I hope perhaps we can have another volume from her view once the main events of DA have played out. In the meantime I will continue to devour anything and everything this author writes!

I’ve read every book in this series and this was sadly a weak installment in the series. I get the feeling that his heart was not in this one. It reads as sort of as a recap of Stacia and Declan’s backstory- but without much emotion or feeling. If you are hoping for new insights into Stacia or to read about their love story - it’s a bit of a miss. It’s ok, I still love John Conroe! Everyone is allowed to have one offs!

Great stuff

This whole series rocks start at book 1 before you read this one or this one won’t resonate like it should. The Demon Accords world Conroe has built has everything you could want in sci fi and fantasy: demons, angels, werewolves, vampires, some fairies, sentient computers and other now tech, and humor with romance and adventure. I love this stuff and I want more now.

White Wolf

Warning: it will help if you read all the Demon Accord books before you read this one! It will prevent confusion to say the least.
This is Stacia and Declan's story from HER point of view! It makes a difference as we get more of Declan too.
It is an excellent book, parts of it are straight from the other books. Not a bad thing at all.
I love the way John Conroe thinks and writes. No, I am not biased at all, LOL!

I loved this book…

Ok, for anyone that’s read the series, this book is fantastic. Really fills in a ton of information from Stacia’s point of view, and it really adds to the entire series.

If Mr Conroe would consider, I would love it if he eventually would add a sequel to this that shows Stacia’s point of view through the later stages when dealing with the Vorsook etc. I really enjoyed this, and will read it again.

This is strictly for a fan of the Demon Accords books. Conroe has been enjoying himself and his fans by filling in his storyline from the perspective of all the many characters. This is the story as seen from the perspective of Stacia Reynolds.
It is somewhat choppy as it jumps from one important scenario of the several books to the next, but that will be no matter to someone who has read the whole series up this point.

Love it! Love it! Audio version is awful

Amazing book! I love Katrina in this book! I love the detail of how they actually got together Declan and Stacia. I'm going to have to go back and read Katrina's book!
The narrator for this book and Katrina's book is the same person and the person is terrible. Either redo both books with the original narrator or find a decent woman narrator for the two books.
