Calamity Rayne Knocked Up

Rate this book
Once again, bestselling and award-winning author Lydia Michaels delivers…a baby?

What do you get when a billionaire control freak and an awkward hot mess decide it’s time to make a baby? Pure chaos—and perhaps more than turkey in the oven by Thanksgiving.

Rayne thought getting pregnant would be easy. But between Hale’s busy schedule and his affinity for kink (the kind that absolutely does not lead to procreation), their baby-making escapades have gone from a one-and-done–thoroughly satisfied–bedding to a hilariously hot adventure in family planning.

Hale is used to getting his way, but his patience wears thin when their love nest turns into a pressure cooker, and success isn’t immediate. As things heat up, Calamity’s careful planning goes up in flames—literally! With several sides of stuffing and enough dirty talk to make Santa blush, this laugh-out-loud raunch-com will warm readers’ hearts this holiday!

Pass the yams… and the prenatal vitamins. Hale and Rayne are expecting more than leftovers this Christmas!

The Calamity Rayne series continues to deliver everything I love about contemporary romance, and Knocked Up might be one of my favorite installments yet.
Rayne remains delightfully chaotic, wonderfully flawed, and completely relatable. No matter what life throws at her, she manages to face it with humor, determination, and plenty of unexpected disasters along the way.
Hale Davenport once again proves why he's a top-tier book boyfriend. His patience, devotion, and unwavering support create the perfect balance to Rayne's whirlwind personality.
What makes this series special is how it blends humor with genuine emotion. One minute I was laughing, and the next I was completely invested in the emotional growth of these characters. Lydia Michaels has created a couple that feels authentic, messy, and deeply lovable.
If you've been following Rayne's journey, this installment is an absolute must-read.

Certainly deserves more than 5* - this series, once again, had me laughing out loud - I just love all these characters.

Rayne and Hale hilarious loves continued - trying to get pregnant was a chore, but Hale was definitely up for the challenge. Thanks to Seraphina, and Willows crystals -> the deed was done.

The journey through the nine months was so entertaining - but towards the end the comedy continues full throttle. Rayne keep her chin up through the Davenport Thanksgiving (WOW such high class gatherings and events) - wasn't her cup of tea; so she put her foot down and had a Meyers Christmas, just family, no outsiders - just what she wanted and needed.

When time for the birth comes around - well those chapters had me laughing so hard, but also our sneaky author threw in some tears to - Thank You Grandpa Davenport!!!!

Love these books!

Calamity Rayne Knocked Up is the 5th book in the Calamity Rayne series. Rayne and Hale’s story continues. Rayne is a HOT MESS! I love Hale! He helps to ground Rayne in all her craziness. He can be a bit grumpy but this man loves Rayne. She is a bit neurotic and that equals so many LOL moments! You should try flying while reading this book! I am on the plane trying to act normal and all I wanted to do was laugh out loud!

This Calamity Rayne series and this book was so GOOD! I love that she is now pregnant and the funny things that happened with her getting pregnant and then through the course of her pregnancy.

5+ STARS for this book! I loved reading Calamity Rayne Knocked Up! I had kind of thought that this was going to be the last book, but I think there just might be another one and I for one can’t wait to read it!

I could not put this book down!

As Rayne and Hale work to expand their family, so does the stress that comes with trying too much. Turns out they just needed to let it happen in its own time, much like Rayne and her adventures growing up. But along the way, she picks up some unexpected new people who seem to orbit her life. And maybe set some boundaries with Remington that Hale can accept.

This book leaves the happy family happy, but with the possibility for more! (Yay!)

I love Rayne! Even with how far she’s come in the books, she’s still a bit of a mess, and she owns her life. Hale is so great and supportive but also just as messy in his own way, and I love how well they work together. I am surprised it took that long for their older daughter to start mimicking their swearing, and I would have loved to have seen more of what the stuffy old men at Thanksgiving thought of that. I do hope this series gets another book in the future just because Rayne is so much fun to read as she navigates being a billionaire’s wife but also true to herself.

I received a review copy from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Loved it!

I devoured this book. Steamy, and also many moments that made me laugh out loud. I love the surprise at the end, and birth made me kinda anxious because that was a full on crazy train event. Whew. Now I just want more.

Loved the first book and knew her story was not done. Even know she hadn’t been talked Lydia. It didn’t stop me from asking her every chance I got of “When we would see more of Calamity Rayne!”

Lydia does it again…another fantastic book in this series. You will be laughing and loving all the antics that Rayne and Hale face in their mission to become parents.

I think there’s a little bit of Rayne in all of us moms….insecurities, fears and worries about becoming a parent.

Rayne is filled with anxiety, stress and fear as she tries to become pregnant. Remington’s true colors come out and he’s not helping with Rayne’s stress level.

Hale is so patient with Rayne but also a bit oblivious with some of her stresses. He’s going to be an amazing dad. There’s an interesting twist at the end of the story..maybe this will lead to more books in this series!

I absolutely love every book in this series. So many amazing laughs, cringy moments, and love.

Oh baby baby…

Happily married to Hale Davenport, Rayne Meyers is ready for the next step. To have a child together. The couple has already adopted Elara but now their biggest wish is to have another baby. However, Rayne and Hale realize that getting pregnant isn’t as easy as they thought it would be. Not only is Hale’s schedule even more busy than one could think, their love life doesn’t always end in a way that a pregnancy could be happening. And Rayne wouldn’t be Rayne if the lack of a baby wouldn’t result in her completely freaking out. And Hale is used to get what he wants, but babies don’t come on command, do they? Obviously it also put pressure on their lovemaking and relationship. Things don’t only heat up in their bedroom, but everywhere, even literally. And with Christmas looming around the corner, with the usual drama surrounding the Davenports, will there be more in the oven than just food?

Oh my dear Rayne, what are you up now? Not that I have a single doubt that she would be an amazing mother, as she clearly is with Elara. But we all know that things will escalate somehow with the kind of person that our beloved Rayne is.

I was a bit sad reading how Rayne and Hale are struggling with getting pregnant. We left them previously ready to go for a baby, and I had no doubt that with their history of lovemaking, it wouldn’t take a long time before there would be a little Davenport making its appearance.

And it may seem kind of mean, but I say with in the best possible way, I ‘liked’ it how the pregnancy isn’t announcing itself so quickly. Because while for some people it is the easiest thing to get pregnant, there are many others that are struggling with it. And with Rayne and Hale having exactly those issues, it made it more realistic, more honest and in a way also more brutal.

Now, it also needs to be said that Rayne and Hale are both stressing out with the non – pregnancy. And it is known that stress doesn’t make things easier. Sometimes it is just how things go and there is nothing physical wrong but it just isn’t giving the wanted results… Nature works on its own ways and agenda, and there is nothing we can do about it.

However, with a title like this, and with the cover the book has, it would be stating the obvious that Rayne will get pregnant. And knowing Rayne as the calamity she already is in ‘normal’ circumstances, I was SOOOOOO curious to see how Rayne would be with raging hormones. I was ready for Tornado Rayne! 😊

And Tornado she was! Emotional, but also fierce, strong but also fragile. There was just no way of knowing of how Rayne would react. Her emotions are all over the place, understandably, but also if her emotions were in turmoil, it made sense, as she still knows what matters and which course is the right path to follow.

In this book perhaps we see more of Mommy Rayne, even before the baby has arrived. Of course there is Elara, Rayne’s adopted daughter, so motherhood isn’t a strange and weird concept to Rayne. But also towards her family, friends, and all her loved ones, Rayne shows a protectiveness, she truly acts as a Mommy Bear. Even when not everyone agrees with her decisions at moments. But it only shows how big Rayne’s heart already is.

And we see Hale in a worrying, protective father – to – be, hovering over Rayne, making sure everything is fine with her. He understands that Rayne is in an emotional rollercoaster now, and does whatever he can to comfort her, reassure her.

There have been some moments though that Hale frustrated me a little bit. But on the other hand, the man is used to a complete different life, and having a family of your own changes everything. And change needs to be also a bit patient, allowing you to adjust to your new world.

But that doesn’t take away that not only the love, but also the passion sparks from each page in this book. Rayne and Hale are the real deal, and no matter who tries to interfere, to disrupt, their love can handle everything.

And of course, I couldn’t stop myself from laughing in this book too. Not only because of Rayne’s antics, but because she is just such a funny and even amazing sarcastic woman. I believe that we would become good friends in real life! 😊

Also because Rayne is the most loyal and loving person you can have in your life. And the most down – to – earth one too! While her life absolutely changed since meeting Hale, she hasn’t changed. Of course, not having to worry about money, is great. But Rayne still hold on to the values which she grew up with. And she never forgets where she came from.

Now, the Davenports never stop to amaze me. And in this book, it was just heartwarming to see how delighted everyone was with Rayne’s news. They show us that they have truly accepted Rayne as a real Davenport!

But… and unfortunately there is a ‘but’… there is a revelation towards the end of the book, concerning a certain character, that left me absolutely flabbergasted. I DID NOT SEE THAT ONE COMING! (while I often see things coming waaaay ahead the actual reveal) And yes, I was a bit disappointed in someone else with this revelation…

That same revelation leaves a lot potential for a next story, I believe. So as I absolutely enjoyed reading about Rayne and her calamities once again, I hope that the author has still something up her sleeve. Because I am not ready to say goodbye to Rayne, Hale and everyone else yet! Why would I want that, when this series, this story brings me a lot of entertainment, laughter, fun and joy!

Quick Summary
I went into this book with high expectations after loving the last four, and Lydia absolutely delivered. Rayne’s struggles with conceiving were deeply relatable and a strong reminder that money can’t fix everything. The story was both laugh‑out‑loud funny and emotionally moving. Rayne’s emotions during pregnancy felt real, especially her desire to bring the billionaire family back to the true meaning of Christmas—friends and family. Hale was the perfect counterbalance, holding Rayne together with his attentiveness and unwavering support. I loved it.

While Reading Thoughts
📔Ok so I had high expectations for this one as the last 4 had been so great and Lydia did not disappoint.
📔The troubles she had with conceiving were so relatable and really made you realise that money cannot solve some problems.
📔This was laugh out loud funny and also emotional.
Rayne was such a bag of emotions through her pregnancy and also how she wanted to bring the billionaire family back to what Christmas is about - friends and family
📔Hale was the glue that holds Rayne together and he makes every man look bad with his attentiveness and need to provide for Rayne is every way.
📔Loved it

Words that linger
🍷“You’re always barking them at me.” I impersonated his bedroom voice, “Deeper, Rayne. That’s it, baby, open wide for me. That’s a good little wife. Take it all the way down. It’s your turn to be a good little husband and put a baby in me.”
🍷Why was it women got ‘a little pressure’ and men got an orgasm when it came to fertility tests?
🍷He was more than my husband. He was my heart, my soul, the breath in my lungs, and the song in my voice.
🍷“You’re radiating life. Knowing you’re carrying my child in there… It’s a total fucking turn-on.”
🍷“I know your body’s changing, but you’re still my little Rayne. You could never crush me, baby. And, whether you believe me or not, I will always find you sexy.”

When we started turning the pages, we were all in. We were hooked and invested and could not put the book down until we were finished. We loved this one—what an awesome read! This was a super hot read, with fan-worthy sexy scenes throughout. This happens to be one of my favorite reads the characters are so great and loveable Rayne is downright hilarious made us laugh out loud so many times but, we related with her and what she was going through with her pregnancy the ups and downs the good, bad and the ugly of it all.

Hale is so many things: sexy, loveable, and caring. We love his relationship with his wife and his possessiveness and dominance, but what we love most is that the story is loaded with family drama, love, laughter, and beautiful friendships. As much as the story made us laugh also full of heartbreak, challenges, disappointments, and messy bits we call life. We hope you love this one as much as we did Hale is such a swoony character and Rayne's dramatics are priceless.

The ending was the best for this couple and their crazy life. Rayne and Hale may seem to be complete opposites in ways they are but at the same time, they have a lot in common in what's important to them both. We have to admit Rayne is one lucky gal to have a man love her as fiercely as her husband does their life seems almost like a fairy tale and is filled with messy bits called life. We can't wait for the next adventure.

Oh. My. God. I needed that laugh

Lydia Michaels has added another terrific, fun story to her Calamity Rayne series. It's time for Rayne and Hale to become parents, and naturally with that comes all the tension, neurotic thoughts, laughs, and plenty of loving. Rayne is a mess and Hale is her strength, although sometimes even he reaches the end of his tether with her. When the big news came that the baby was on the way, I knew this story was only going to get better.

Ms. Michaels keeps the laughs coming as Rayne's pregnancy progresses through its nine months. Even though there were ups and downs, the humour was never far away. Family dramas, interfering fathers, underground massage therapy, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, and a labour which is totally unforgettable. Only Rayne could have a trip to the hospital that had me laughing so much I was crying!

CALAMITY RAYNE KNOCKED UP was such a fun and entertaining read. I don't think I've ever laughed so much. There are a few serious moments, but I suppose they're a necessity when you're dealing with the Davenport family... Remington you are such a naughty man!!! Rayne may be a calamity, but I wouldn't have her any other way, and Hale, my god that man is just too hot!!

An absolutely highly recommended read.

Rayne and Hale are back and life has been amazing, well until the day they decide that they want to add to the family. In typical Rayne fashion things don't go as planned, with Hale busy and Rayne over thinking and freaking out things don't go as planned. Until that one day after a trip to a Reiki specialist things change and well Thanks giving is one for the books .

Rayne is back and making everyone laugh with her antics . She hasn't really calmed down since getting married. She still isn't comfortable in her own skin and still thinks that everyone is out to get her in some way. She is funny and kind of neurotic which does make you laugh so hard . Over all she has a heart of gold and loves with her whole heart to everyone that she comes in contact in. Hale well he is a control freak that is kind of grumpy most of the time . He loves Rayne with his whole heart and keeps her on an even keel . Together they are the perfect balance for each other . The rest of the family is back and funnier than ever.

This is one of those books that will have you laughing so hard the tears will be running down your face. The author really likes to put her characters through so much before getting their happily ever after . This is a fun rom - com with some nice spice . The characters are wonderful . Its like going home again. So if you want a fun series check out Calamity Rayne.

Reading this series and laughing my bum off has become my new normal! This one has a whole new layer of hilarity and calamity.

As a wedding gift, Rayne decides to give Hale their own baby and Elara a little brother or sister. As much sexy time as they have sounds easy peasy right? Not always. I’m not gonna give away the good stuff, but this gift just might take a ride on the struggle bus. Righting that bus leads to so much laughter mixed with a lot of other crazy emotions. All are totally worth it. Because of course…there’s Hale. Yes, he’s ultra hot and beautiful, but he’s also a man totally in love with his hot mess wife. Every time he proves it and the ways he proves it…I was melting over and over and over again. There’s A LOT to love, gape at, shake your head at, and cry for.

I will forever love how Lydia makes this hot mess fairy tale relatable. I wanna drop myself right in the middle, not to escape reality, but to share it with these fabulous characters she so perfectly brings to life.

To prove how much I love this one…I usually run far, far away from romance books with surprise babies or any pregnancy. This one, I was incredibly sad to see end and even want to jump into it.

Another five star Lydia Michaels beauty!!

I expected the journey in this one to be just as wild and dramatic as the rest and I was not disappointed! The first chapter?? I did NOT expect to jump in that way...whew!

I think the title of this one gives a good enough idea of the journey we are going on in this book. We go on the entire journey with Rayne and Hale as they try to get pregnant and then of course the pregnancy itself, and I feel like for a lot of people this probably is super relatable.

The journey was emotional at times, but then there were so many moments that had me laughing out loud. Rayne is so dramatic and it was not a surprise that the pregnancy would make her overly emotional. Elara repeating the bad words was cracking me up!

I devoured this one and cannot wait for the next! I wouldn't mind a spin off with some of the other Davenports either...

If you're looking for a fun rom-com with some really good spice, billionaires, found family, an MMC with a deliciously dirty mouth, and all kinds of chaos, then definitely check out this series!

This was the final book in the series (for now), and honestly, it was exactly the kind of chaos I’ve come to love and expect from these books.

I really loved how the journey to pregnancy was portrayed in this story. It felt raw, emotional, and realistic in all the right ways. The doubts, the hope, the fears, and all the emotions that came with it felt so genuine and were written in a way that made them really hit.

And Hale… once again, he proves why he’s the perfect match for Rayne. Where Rayne is chaotic, impulsive, and completely unpredictable, Hale is the calm in the storm. He stays patient, steady, and grounded, and that balance between them just works so well every single time.

This book made me laugh a lot, and the birth scene especially was such a perfect Rayne moment, completely chaotic, messy, and absolutely not going according to plan. It was funny, emotional, and so very them.

Overall, this felt like the perfect wrap-up to an amazing series. I’m really going to miss these characters and their chaos.

Cute, but...

Spoilers-

This one was cute, but not as good as the beginning of the series. Why are characters just taken away with no real resolution? (Elle in the last book) Suddenly Marta is calling Rayne Niña and not Nena like she had in the first few books (which if you know any Spaniard or even Puerto Rican, Niña is just weird) I thought it was an oversight in the last book, but as much as it happened in this book, I'm just assuming a ghost writer was brought in to spice up the sex scenes and didn't know anything about the character.

I feel like all the characters had subtle non-character development changes that threw me off.

While the ending especially left me wanting to know what happens with Tyler and Xander and the siblings, I'm kind of over Rayne. The change in writing style ruined her world for me. As did the fact that she seemed to be getting stagnant. I'd be fine reading about the other Davenports and having Rayne be a supporting character.

This is the fifth book in the „Calamity Rayne“ series and if you haven‘t read at least the first book in the series you should definitely start there since this book cannot easily be read as a stand-alone. If you - like me - have read and loved the other books in the series it is a must. We follow Rayne and Hale on their journey to get pregnant and as always in this series there are a lot of hilarious obstacles until the happy end. The book is definitely very entertaining and had me laughing out loud at times but I did not love it as much as the first two books in the series. I feel the more the series progresses the smaller the FMC makes herself and also there are a LOT of spicy scenes that often do not really contribute to the plot of the story. That being said it was still a very entertaining read and if there ever was a sixth book in the series I would definitely read it.
I received a free copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

If you haven't read this series from the beginning... you need to back up and read from the beginning to get the full Rayne experience. You won't be disappointed.

I loved this book. It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Rayne was married to the perfect man and all she wanted to do was have a baby... but things weren't working out as she planned. And Hale was getting tired of their intimacy being planned by a calendar around her egg cycle.

His book is smoking hot and in Calamity Rayne fashion hilarous. We have a new character in this book and Rayne is not happy with his presence, but he is not what he seems and Rayne is shocked... a few times.

And Rayne giving birth... yeah, a calamity.

If you want a book that will keep you laughing with characters that feel like family, you will love this smoking hot book! Highly recommen

This series is one of my very favorite in the rom-com genre. I loved this book #5 so much that I read it twice – just in case I missed anything – and let me tell you that it was as funny the second time around as the first time (if not funnier than). Rayne is a true worrier, who can turn any situation into a calamity. But don’t let all that fool you, this worrier is a warrior in disguise – for real. And Hale is so my hero, and has been throughout this series. I’ve read how many readers say they can identify with Rayne, but I identify more with Hale due to his neatness and OCD. The full cast of characters appears in CR Knocked Up as well as a couple of new additions. I have a feeling we will see much more of the Davenports, and I for one truly cannot wait.

Just Awesome!
I adore Rayne! (& Hale and the whole Calamity cast of characters, too.) I have loved all the books in this series but especially this latest.
In Knocked Up, Rayne and Hale are working on baby making which has Rayne even more of a hot stressed mess than ever.
These stories are so much fun with absolute laugh out loud funny moments. But they are also sweet, swoony, emotional and let’s not forget HOT AS HALE!!
I was a bit afraid that Knocked Up was going to be the last of the Calamity Rayne books, but the author definitely left us with a little hint that there might be more to come! (Yay!)

Reading about Rayne and Hales journey of getting pregnant is very relatable to many. It’s not always easy to get pregnant and so many women carry the weight and guilt when there are struggles. Once Rayne gets pregnant I couldn’t stop laughing at all the things she said and events that unfolded. When Elara repeats all of the bad words Rayne says had me laughing. The delivery was the epic part of Raynes Calamities for sure. I must say I am sad that this series is over. I would have loved to have an epic epilogue that made the story feel more complete because there felt like there was more story to tell. Thank you for the opportunity to fall in love with all the Davenports!

O.M.G!
Can this series get any crazier or funnier than it was in the first few books?
I had my doubts—until I got my hands on this one. The craziness, the mishaps, and the heat level have reached a whole new level in this story. I found myself doubled over with laughter time and again, and when I wasn’t laughing so hard I almost wet myself, I was gasping in surprise or holding my breath.
“Calamity Rayne Knocked Up” undoubtedly puts the cherry on top of this phenomenal series. I devoured this book in a matter of hours and simply couldn’t put it down until the very end.

Please, please, Ms. Michaels, continue this series—especially after that revelation at the end.

I’ve been in a calamity Rayne bubble for the last few days. This is the funniest romance novel series I’ve ever read, I actually lol’d in multiple places. It’s sexy, it’s sweet & Hale is the perfect MMC. He’s loving, grumpy and can be dominant in that sweet spot way. I just adore Rayne. She’s smart, funny and a hot mess with raging ADHD!

Experiencing the rollercoaster of Trying to Conceive was realistic and took me back to when I thought it’d never happen either.

The introduction of new characters was intriguing and brought another layer to what was arguably my favourite book of the series!

Book five in this series and you guessed it from the title. A little one is on the way. It’s not all smooth sailing, Rayne doesn’t get pregnant right away. Thank you for writing this Lydia. Not only does money not solve everything but with all the accidental pregnancy tropes out there it was nice to see a real struggle. Hale as always keeps Rayne together and he continues to be steadfast, unwavering and well just HOT! Christmas becomes a family affair and I love that for them, even I the chaos. A trip to labor and delivery has never made me laugh and cry so much. This was everything. This was another good one In this series

Rayne and Hale’s love story continues and now, they are trying to get pregnant. In the beginning of the book, you see they are struggling a bit to get pregnant and the pressure that brings into their relationship. I am still a big fan of Hale, he is the supportive husband, but sometimes, Rayne doesn’t feel that way. She knows he loves her and would do anything for her, but the emotions she feels, it’s hard for her.
I really enjoyed this book and the entire series. All the banter and the joy, the hard times that lead to their HEA. Definitely recommend the entire series.
