In 1989, Beth Roper was brutally assault by an intruder in front of her four year-old daughter, Lauren. Following her mother’s death, a now adult Lauren is still haunted by the events of that night. When the murder of convicted rapist Nathan Green hits the news, she recognises the eyes of the monster who dominates her nightmares.
Desperate to find the justice her mother never could, she approaches private investigator Johnson Carmichael and demands he take her case. But Carmichael can see it is a waste of time and money. With no evidence, no witnesses and only the fragile memory of the client to work with, this is a case Carmichael doesn’t want. However, when he begins to ask questions and his life is threatened, he learns there is more to Lauren’s claims than first thought.
As he begins to dig into Green’s campaign of terror, he only finds only more questions. But as he begins to piece together what really happened on that horrific night, it becomes clear that the real culprit may still be out there.
Fear, murder, revenge, and suspense: TRESPASS is a gritty British thriller examining the horrifying effects of sexual assault.

I put off writing a review for a couple of days but despite some strong story-telling aspects the glaring errors really spoilt the plot. Part of the start of this story concerns rape victims and for some reason in this story none of them are anonymous. After this I was then finding myself looking for factual errors which of course were added to by breathtaking consequence. The investigator researching one rape victim who just happens to be the librarian in the library he happens to have chosen who then willingly confesses the events twenty years after they occurred.
I am consequently torn between one and two stars when I see it has lots of 4 and above. I know it's fiction and we are supposed to switch off reality but releasing a murder suspect aught at the scene and giving them the 24 hours to find who killed....
Sorry needs to do better and could have done because underneath there was a clever intricate plot

I finished Trespass a while back and have been pondering my review. I'd really like to give it 3 and a half stars, 4 is too generous and 3 is too mean. On the whole I enjoyed the story. I was most taken with Johnson Carmichael and his sidekick. I just found there were elements that stretched my credulity a tad too much. Although I went with it, those little niggles kept nagging at me. Saying that I thought Stephen Edger's writing was good and this particular private investigator is an interesting character with a fascinating back story. I shall invest in book 2, (Fragments), and see how I get on with that.
OMG! What can I say? Trespass is an outstanding read! There are so many twists and turns; just when I thought I knew who did it, I was wrong! I could not put this book down! The storyline is intriguing and full of suspense! I just bought book 2 of this series! WELL DONE, Stephen!!
Second book I have read by this author and I wasn't disappointed .Had me hooked from the first page .l loved the plot full of twists and turns. And am going to download the second book .I am looking forward to reading it. Love Carmichael a man who gets things done .
Another absolutely amazing book by Stephen Edger! Couldn't put it down. A real page turner, with numerous twists and turns. I will definitely be reading more by this author in the future, and will be recommending this book!
Enjoyed this well written book very much. The story and main characters were great and some good twists and turns kept the story moving along very well. Would recommend and I'm definitely buying the next in this series!
I found this to be a very well thought out, and written, book. Some might find some of the contents disturbing. It begins in the past when a young woman is attacked in her own home. There are other attacks on young women and someone is charged, but have they got the right person. Despite it being 20 years later the daughter of the initial victim hires a private investigator to look into things for her. The PI is having enough problems of his own and is on the verge of turning down this case when he gets threatened and warned off. The only minor thing which I noticed was that the ending wasn't as convincing as the rest of the book, but it was still a good read.
I had never read any of Stephen Edger's books until this one and now I am a definite fan. The story had me on edge throughout and even when I thought I had it all figured out I was left, literally, gob- smacked by the ending. I have now purchased a few more of Stephen's books in the hopes that I am drawn in by the characters like I was with this one. A must read!!
A curate's egg of a book! Basically a good story & strong characters ruined because the author could not come up with a finale to match the quality of the majority of the book. By the way, being told that the fibula is in the arm irks.
I couldn't put this book down.murder and sexual assault are the crimes involved in this gripping read.A thriller featuring Johnson Carmichael in his se one outing in this series. A brilliant nerve wracking thriller
It was a good story, and without the sappy happy ending. Satisfying is what I'd call the ending tho short lived. Could have elaborated as was done too often within the book, but I am going to read more of this series!
I enjoyed this book and thought I was clever and guessed whoddunnit, but I didnt so that was a good twist! Would read another of his books for sure :-)
This at first sight appears to be 2 books- one about a crime 24 years ago and then another about a private investigator. They do merge and cleverly so at that. This was my first Stephen Edgar novel and it kept me within the pages as I wanted to know the conclusion. A good plot with likeable characters even if they do cross the line at times. I really got into this and was then left rather disappointed with the final few chapters. To me it finished rather abruptly and another chapter or two would have even things out without the haste- hence the 3*
