I won’t lie Jennie got on my nerves a bit in this book with her goody goody attitude. And she did come across as extra aggressively nosey, but I guess with a mystery this intense one needs to be aggressive about finding answers.

I did enjoy the new setting and storyline. Once again I had no idea who the bad guy was. I like how this included the problem of racism, but it wasn’t really discussed much.

Hopefully we will see more of this side of her family in future books. I would like for the mystery of her father to continue a bit more. He hasn’t really been mentioned much since book 4.

This is my first Jennie McGrady mystery that I am rating a 3 instead of a 4. Sadly, I don't think is was even to do with the story. I tried this novel out as an audio book and I learned very quickly that audio books are not for me. I want to fall right asleep and it seems very slow to finish a book.

Usually I love Jennie McGrady mysteries, so I am sure the next book will be better.

(5☆ Would recommend & would read again)
I read 2 books out of this series when I was 13 and I remember really liking them. I decided to buy the entire series as an adult and read through the series. As an adult, I still really enjoy this series. Would definitely recommend.

This is a totally confusing who-dun-it! I had no idea until the end!

This story starts with the pilot announcing their descent into Missoula. Jennie's seatmate introduced himself as Marty Danielson. When Jennie McGrady gave her name, he commented on her blue eyes. They talked about how she broke her arm, & he commented that he had broken his when a steer threw him! Dangerous business! When told that her uncle was injured & Rick Jenkins had died in an explosion, Marty was surprised that her uncle had lived! They landed right on time. In the terminal, Jennie looked for her cousin, Heather White Cloud, who was half Nez Perce Indian. Jennie went to the baggage claim area after 15 minutes, but still couldn't find Heather. Eventually she saw Heather with a young man carrying a camera bag. Why was Heather with him instead of meeting her? She had only seen Heather once, at her father's "funeral." Jennie had discovered that her father was going by a new name & still worked for the DEA. Jennie & Heather went to a restaurant where they met Marty again, but his father called him away. Marty's attitude seemed to change & he left with his father. There was a group of men dressed in fatigues like Marty's father at a table telling hunting stories loudly. In contrast, two men in business attire sat behind Heather, & greeted her as they left. When they left the restaurant, there was a note under the windshield wiper that Heather threw down. Jennie wanted to read it. It read, "Tell your daddy next time he won't be so lucky."

I have read all the books before this in this series and this is my 3rd favorite. I really like the changes of scenery from the other books and all the new characters. I really like jenny in the book and all the plot twists could only figure out the murderer and kidnapper at the end of the book. My favorite scene is when she is with amber near the end of it. I also love Heather and Haven. This was an amazing book and would highly recommend!
