Ken's book is short and too the point. Great for beginning writers who are curious about the whole publishing process. While the book does push the author's own author services/publishing company, it also provides a wealth of useful information, whether or not an author chooses to hire Ken. Honest. Open. Simple to understand. A must-read for every new writer.
First off I'll admit: It took me more than 2 hours to read this. I seldom have the luxury of reading through a book in one sitting, so I get to them when I can!
As short as it is, there is in fact a lot of good and detailed advice here about what you're going to need to turn your ideas into a book, and turn your book into a book that people want to have and will pay money for. And at very least the authors are completely open and honest about the fact that they are a publishing house themselves and that this book is mostly an advertisement for their firm and its services. Kudos for being straight-forward.
That being said, the book has its problems. The authors mention again and again about the importance of proofreading, yet there are numerous silly errors you can find throughout the text here. And the most glaring and amazing error of all: They speak about the old "right brain vs. left brain" theory, and get the functions of the two halves of the brain reversed! Then they re-state that error over and over again throughout the rest of the book. It's almost funny.
