In the night he comes to her. An erotic whisper in a dream. He tells her of fate, of their foretold destiny, and of the child who will lead them to a distant star…if only she believes.
Dr. Rachel Evans can't believe she's meant to save anyone. Heck, she can't even save herself! So when Eros comes to her claiming to be King of the Atlanteans' her immediate response is - talk about delusions!
Jordan Summers is an ex-flight attendant with a penchant for huge bookstores and big, dumb action movies. She prefers quite dinners with friends over maddening crowds. Happily married to her very own Highlander, she splits her time with her husband between two continents.
I love how I told myself that I'm going to take a break from alien books and just read something in the fantasy genre (that doesn't have to do with aliens or space travel) and yet I ended up with a book that turned out to be about aliens. I SWEAR I didn't know this was about aliens lol! I saw that it was about Atlantis and just thought this would be a cool little fantasy book but nope, turns out that the Atlanteans are aliens. I mean honestly, my bad, considering that on Goodreads it's under the Aliens genre.Read more… I didn't have any expectations for this book going into it. I've never read one of Jordan Summers books, to be honest I've never heard of her before which is surprising considering she has so many published series!
I liked this book though. It was interesting considering this is my first "Atlantis" type book. If you read this book be prepared for a lot of sex. Like holy hell. Not just sex in general but everything refers to sex in this book. At some points I just rolled my eyes because come on. However, if you're looking for a total erotica book then I don't think you'll have many complaints!
I would've liked more character building and just overall getting to know the characters better. I mean, I have to give the author credit, in just 157 pages (or 212 since on Goodreads I've seen both?) you really like the characters and root for them, but I feel like if she would've wrote more then I could've fallen in love with them. I love when the author writes full conversations with the main couple and just see them fully interacting so you feel like you can really get to know them. Overall, I liked the book. It wasn't bad just fast-paced and it seemed like the main theme in this book was sex, sex and some more sex. I'm going to read the second book to see if there more story & character building in it (fingers crossed). I'll let you all know how that one goes!
Having read the Phantom series first, I decided to go back and read this series before reading "The Dark King". I thing I enjoyed this book because it not only sets up the characters for the other series but it gave the reader an interesting twist on erotic. Rachael's reaction to the typical Altlantean's greeting is classic. The chemistry between her and Eros jumps off the page and given the circumstances of the storyline, it's easy to understand Rachael's hesitancy. Definitely recommend this book.
The beginning started a little slow, but the pace picked up quickly. I liked the storyline. The characters were interesting and dimensional. The three girls' friendship showed their emotional bond. I am looking forward to reading their continuing journey in the next book!
Review of what? If i ever decide to read more chapters...there will never be a five because value for money is one thing, but to be given nothing but a hint of a storyline is unworthy of any author.
2.5*, rounded up. I didn't like: At the start of the trip, she decided to go take a bath in the river. One by herself, two without telling anyone where she was going, three bathing where there are reptiles that could kill her, etc! Got a brain? The kidnapping plot. Doesn't talk to her until later. Oh yeah I speak English. Oh my goodness he speaks! Then she finds out she's supposed to have his kid (run, run!). Then there's the instant love. He gets her hot and heavy, rescues her twice, kidnaps her, and oh I luv you! I rounded up, rather than down, because this kept me entertained despite shaking my head several times. Will not be reading the rest. I don't care.
I tried to get into this series. I really did. I even bought the second one hoping it would get better. The writing was fine but for some reason the heroine really annoyed me. The second book was slightly better but this one was just frustrating. I kept closing out kindle to check other things and I usually don't do that. I like when I get excited or nervous for the heroine but this series was so so.
After two pages, I began to skim the book. Awful writing. Like bad porn on paper, there was no skill here. I will probably have to ban Jordan Summers from future reading adventures. Characters were stupid and flat.
It's a short read so the plot moved along quickly. You know what I mean, the insta-love. Anyway, this was a great opening to series, you can tell that it's just heating up. It's got a little bit of suspense mixed in with the romance and the sexual tension.
