Flown by Flight Officer Johnnie Morgan, it came down through low cloud and rain, and took aboard band-leader Glenn Miller and a USAAF staff officer, Lt. Colonel Norman Baessell. Minutes later it scudded down the rain-swept runway, climbed into the overcast and disappeared forever.
