It’s been a decade since James’ high school girlfriend drowned in the Delaware River. He finally returns to his river side New Jersey hometown, to face his tragic past and learn the truth about her death. Without realizing it, James buried himself in his law career and used the distractions of life in Philadelphia to take a ten year detour from healing and moving on. Heartbreaking yet hopeful, River Deep is an introspective evaluation of repressed grief and a salvaged life. "I enjoyed RIVER DEEP and thought it a very good story of one man's survival and redemption through what life throws at you; with just enough denial and guilt thrown in for good measure and a little romance on the side." -a reader's quote.
I thought this book was very good. It was about dealing with loss and grief, unexpected turns that life throws at us. It made me believe that it is only through forgiveness that we can become who we are meant to be.Life is full of struggles and you could feel the struggles that Jim went through to find himself. The characters were very well developed and I felt like I knew them, and felt what they felt. I would highly recommend this book to everyone, no matter your favorite genre, it is well worth your time. I received this book through First reads to give an honest review. Believe me this is a good one. Great storyline and the ending , well I won't spoil it for you all. Great read!
[RIVER DEEP] -Was meant to be a mystery, an unraveling of an old secret. I sense my novel's grief-healing undertone has taken on the dominant role, and I'm very pleased. A placid 'who-dunit' was Not what I was going for. Its no coincidence the word "Deep" is in the title. Thanks for not missing it.
