Stripped of memories and haunted by the deadly power hidden in her veins, Kira awakens as a prisoner of a mysterious organisation calling themselves COF. Unaware of her own identity or the true nature of her captors, she must endure brutal experiments designed to test the limits of her terrifying gift.

The worst part is, she has no allies.

No memories. No chance to escape. No future for her crumbling world.

Kira’s only solace comes from her venomous blood and the hypnotic whispers emanating from within the concrete walls. But when her wounds inexplicably begin to heal, Kira is thrust into the presence of Void—the mastermind behind the mad playground and the owner of the enigmatic voice.

Torn between the need to uncover her past and her growing fascination with the irresistible Void, Kira vows to bring an end to the sinister organisation that binds them together. There’s only one problem. Kira’s key to unlocking all secrets and securing her freedom lies in forming an alliance with the very monster pulling the strings of her captivity. It’s here that the line between captor and captive begins to blur.

Void by Elyatha Eli

Around 4 out of 5 stars

This is a really difficult book for me to rate. It took me quite a while to read it and my emotions went all over the place. Thing is, I absolutely love the story and the elements that Elyatha implemented in this book. And every time that I read for a bit I really liked and loved it. But for some reason I couldn't sit down and read it in one go. Or in a few days' time. And I still don't know why. And that makes reviewing this book a little difficult. So my review probably will be all over the place. But I'll try my best to write down all my thoughts and feelings.

The book starts with a young woman being imprisoned in COF. An organisation that experiments on its prisoners. The woman's blood is poisonous and it can kill people very quickly. If she complies she gets rewarded with food and if she doesn't comply she gets nothing. Everybody wears masks. Apart from Dr. Shyres who has fixed her up multiple times. The prisoners' minds also get erased often. Which is such a scary thought.

She also sees a 16-year old ghost boy whom she named Tomato Sunshine. He shows up when she is in her cell. And nobody else is able to see him. His presence really centres her.

A voice over the radio/intercom often tells her what she must do and tells her when she gets taken away to be experimented upon. His name is Void.

And suddenly the woman gets taken up to a new division inside of the COF organisation called C1. She gets a bare room. There is a window between her cell and the one next to her. The cell is occupied by Elea and they quickly become best friends. Elea tells her that she can earn points by completing experiments and listening to the guards. The points are a currency that can earn her food, medicine, clothes and furniture.

She meets a guard named Raegan and he is one of the more kind ones.
And quickly Void orders her to come to his office. He tells her her name is Kira. She is fearful of him. But is also drawn to him and the way he speaks to her. But she is also feisty and fights back. That results in Elea being beaten and her being brought back to her old cell.

In her old cell is a new man called Ethan. She instantly trusts him and tells him everything she knows. He vows to protect her and get her out of this place. He tells he is a part of The Awakening. An organisation that wants to overthrow COF. She quickly falls for Ethan and when she is taken back to C1 she isn't forgetting about him. And is longing to escape this place. Together with the new friends she made.

And that is what this story is about. What is COF and why does it experiment on the imprisoned people? Who is Void? Why has he seemingly singled her out and is so interested in her? Why does she see more of his personality than others seem to see?
Who is Ethan and why is he so hellbent on drawing Kira to himself?
What is happening to Elea? And how does it involve her?
And what are the powers all the other prisoners have?

Now that I've written this all down I am just falling in love with the story all over again. The story is really, really good. And so captivating.
I think the chapters were too long for me. The story has almost 400 pages (on my kindle) and there are only 10 chapters. I think that I would have preferred shorter chapters that split up the story in shorter parts. Parts that would have been dedicated to one tiny part of the story instead of a lot of things happening in 1 chapter.

And even though we learn a lot about how COF works, how the characters evolve and the secrets they carry and the hidden agendas of some people and some events, the ending doesn't give us a whole lot of answers. And that felt a bit anticlimactic. I wish something larger was revealed in the end that would have given us some more definite answers. I like how we learned more of who we can trust in this book at the end. But I just miss that bang that would have made me scream I need a sequel right now.

SPOILER ALERT IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH:
One of the key elements in this book is that Kira gets tasked by finding out Void's true name. And when she does. Nothing really changes. A certain change accelerates but it was already set in motion before she finds out his true name. I wish that particular scene between Void and Kira was a bit grander and had a bigger impact on the story overall.

I am not entirely sure if I am right or not. But Elyatha did a brilliant job with Ethan's character. I just despise him so much. I don't trust him one bit. And I am dying to find out what his character arc will be in a sequel.

Void is by far my favorite character. He has the exact right amount of secrecy and I just love him to pieces. He is a character that could kill the entire population of humans on earth and I would still love him to pieces.

I am also looking forward to Kira's character arc in the next book. Same goes for Elea.

And I just NEEEEEEEEED to know if Tomato Sunshine is real. My goodness he lives in my heart and I need him to be real or have an enormous part in the sequel.

I am also dying to know more about Reagan and Elea. And Diamanda, I need to see how she is related to the other characters. And how her story will impact the others later on in a sequel.

All in all this is a fantastic book. And I am so ready for the sequel.

My only advice would be to restructure the chapters and maybe add a bit of a bigger climax at the end. That would make it absolutely perfect for me.

Around 4 huge stars from me for this beautiful and exciting story.

I enjoyed this book, every single page of it. It took some time to understand what was happening because there was so much unknown. Together with the main character, I unraveled the events, trying to understand what was happening and what would come next. A gripping and captivating book. I recommend it.

This was the first book that I read by this author and I am HOOKED! This is a paranormal romance with a FMC who starts out without a name. That alone intrigued me, a FMC that doesn’t know/remember her name? As the story progresses you really get to see how strong she is and all of the things she conquers. As for Void himself, i’m obsessed with him. He is a typical MMC who keeps an eye on her and takes care of her without her knowing… but he’s not attracted to her… right????
I am really looking forward to the Prequel Destiny and I cannot wait to see what happens afterwards!!
10 Chapters, 350 pages that I devoured in a few days, go check it out!!

My Review -
LITERALLY One of the best Paranormal Book I have read so far . This book had me hooked since the moment I started reading it ❤️‍🔥 . This book follows the Story of Kira , a girl who woke up at a mysterious Organisation called COF , but as a prisoner. But that's just not the only case as she is stripped away from the memories of her past , her identity & even her own name . But something else she doesn't know is a deadly power that runs in her veins , as she tries to find the one who has held her captive . As she tries to discover her identity and the mysterious Organisation she finds the only person that she cannot trust , her captive and her only Enemy in the strange place Void , he is handsome, he is hot and he seems to care for her more than he cares to admit . He looks out for her at every moment , and practically keeps an eye on her yet he says he is not attracted to her (something that is hard to believe right )😏 . As the story continues we get to know how strong she is , and how she bravely tries to fight the COF in order to escape . But it seems that the one she is fascinated to is the person who has the strings of her captivity & Freedom . And as she tries to find the gate of her freedom and get Void out of her head , she discovers more secrets of COF. This book will LITERALLY get you out of your reading slump , the amount of suspense that each chapter hold make you want to turn every page ❤️‍🔥 . I was so hooked on till the last chapter . It was my first time reading a paranormal romance and I have to say it's one the best one I have read so far , it has kept me awake all night just to finish this one .💕 I loved every second of this book and you are gonna love it too .
I will highly recommend this book to everyone who love dystopian genre will shatter me vibes , it will fed you with all that you need . And thank you Elyatha Eli for writing such a masterpiece and letting me ARC read this book .💘🤌⭐

A dark and twisted tale with very interesting FMC. We see her grow stronger throughout the story, conquering her trails and I'm left curious to more. It was hard to put this story down and I might have not done so, if not for sleep and work.

For the people interested in reading; the book has trigger warnings such as ab__e, read with caution.

Kira awakes one day as a prisoner of the mysterious organisation called COF. She has no memories of her life before imprisonment and her days are spent being experimented on and tortured. Constantly pushed to the limits to try and awaken powers, her life is a violent and lonely cycle. She doesn’t have an identity, memories or allies.

Her only solace lies in her venomous blood and the voice from the walls.

When her wounds inexplicably heal, Kira is moved to another part of the organisation where she’s thrust into the presence of the enigmatic Void. He’s the mastermind behind the prison she’s in and the owner of the voice from the wall. She should be doing everything in her power to escape but her fascination with Void seems to grow. Will Kira be able to unlock the secrets of the organisation and herself, and thus secure her freedom?

I was sent this book to read and review by the publisher. Good Lord this was an adventure. It was written quite well by the author that it reflects the confusion in poor Kira and her drive to survive and figure out what is going on. There are so many different characters and you don’t know who can be trusted and there’s so many twists and turns. The ending didn’t feel like it properly ended and I’m left feeling very very bereft of any sort of closure and I can’t work out how it can continue in a sequel which is very clever as it means I’ll be buying the sequel the moment it’s out. Brilliantly clever plot!

I do not even know where to start with this review. My emotions are all over the place!

Elyatha's mind is a beautiful place because this book is simply perfect.

After reading book one, I have still not untangled and figured out the twists and turns of the plot. Nothing is predictable and one is kept guessing right to the end. I am drooling to read the next installment.

* Slow Burn Romance
* Captivity
* Magical Blood
* Amnesia

This book takes you on Kira's journey as she tries to figure out what her captivity over the last two years means and how she can escape. What is COF? Why is she a prisoner? And who is Void? All is not what it seems.

There is also a wonderful cast of side characters to keep you entertained and engaged.

The plot is so well thought out and engaging, I simply could not put this book down.

To say that I loved this book is an understatement and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves angst and tension in their stories.

I simply can not wait to see where Kira's journey takes her.

Thank you so much to the author for the ARC.

Hightly Recomended read!!! I was lucky to have the chance to read this ARC before the release date, and now I don't know how I'll live without knowing what's going to happen next! I am utterly in love with the MC and Void himself, and the world outside COF is a mystery in itself too. I am very eager to discover this world within the COF and outside of it as it seems just as interesting to me. And of course, the love that seems to be blooming even though Void "does not care". I held my breath more times than I can count and wanted to know what's going to happen next. I stayed up until 3AM the first time I read it, sleep had to be sacrificied for sure! Once this book is released I will get a physical copy of this treasure and add it to my "Forever Keep" book shelf where I keep my most beloved stories. I already can't wait for the next one that I hope will be out in near future.
