Decent book on maintaining natural hair. I wish I had read the chapter on BC'ing before I actually did it! It would have saved me some money as I went to a salon first instead of a barber. Of course you are able to find all this info online now but when the book first came out in 2004 I bet there wasn't much then. I will probably refer back to this book from time to time.

Great for new naturals

I like this book. There's a lot of good information and it is especially good for those just starting out with natural hair. I just wish there were more pictures.

This book was a very easy read. I actually completed it within 2 days. There is so much to growing and taking proper care of natural hair and this book was very informative. I especially enjoyed the natural hair recipes and cannot wait to make some of them. The best thing about the recipes is, a lot of the ingredients are things I already have in my kitchen. The only downside to buying this book is, a lot of the information it contained is available on the internet. So, I could have just researched the information online for free. However, it was good to have everything in this compact book and it will be easy to refer back to subjects in the future. This is the first book in my collection for natural hair care and I'm glad that I chose this one to motivate me on this journey. I'm only 2 months into an 18 month transition but this book helped to boost my confidence that natural hair is an attainable goal for me.

On Sat I got my hair dresser to do one of the hair styles, she put her own spin on it but I'm getting lovely comments so cool.

Also the coconut hot oil treatment is the best ever. Been doing it for about a year and hair is the softest it has been since my mum used to do my hair as a little girl.

Decent book. I wish it had more step by step tutorials on how to style your hair. Like cornrow styles that you can do yourself. Overall a good reference even though most of the information can be found on the internet.
