Love Lindisfarne #2

Love Beyond Lindisfarne

Rate this book
Take a spring to summer trip to magical Northumberland and find love and laughter in this feel-good romantic comedy, which will transport you to the iconic island of Lindisfarne and beyond…

Ellie, and Zen with the coffee-bean eyes, met at Christmas when she came to Northumberland to look after rescue animals. They are taking their first tentative steps into a love-at-first-sight relationship and all in their spring garden should be wonderful.

Notification of a death of one of the island’s stalwarts comes as a shock and the island is plunged into mourning, and when Lady Grace takes ill, life at the castle changes overnight, and not for the better. The new custodian and his fiancée have plans, and the islanders are far from happy, especially as it affects their own.

The news that the filming of a reality show is to take place and that the animals must move out of their yard due to the Queen of the Castle production company taking over, really is the final straw.

Can Zen and Ellie navigate their new life together? Will the residents be able to return to cosy Courtyard Cottage? Can the castle and estate survive the new regime?

Amongst all the drama, Love Beyond Lindisfarne is a story of love, intergenerational friendships, camaraderie, and oodles of the warmth and humour found in this very special corner of the world.

Genre ~contemporary fiction
Series ~Love Lindisfarne, #2
Others in the series ~ Love Lindisfarne
Setting ~ Northumberland
Publication date ~ May 23, 2024
Page Count ~ 324 (p+ 54 chapters +e)
POV ~ single 1st
Featuring ~ short chapters, awful side character, small town, island life, slow burn, no steamage

Ellie & Zen are still getting to know each other after they gave me the slowest burn of my life in Love Lindisfarne. Their story is progressing realistically, but not without some jealously which stems from their past experiences.

Awful Isla is back and causing quite the stir and thankfully gets the ending she deserves.

While I didn't lovedy love love this one like I did the previous book I still quite enjoyed revisiting the sweet island of Lindisfarne and the lovely set of characters that live there. I liked that Ellie's London friends have popped in for a visit and have a grand old time getting to know everyone.

I definitely recommend this series if you're looking for a slow burn, clean romance with a side of witty one liners and adorable animals.

Series notes:
This is a continuation of Ellie and Zen's story from Love Lindisfarne, and what's happening on the island, so I definitely recommend reading that one first. You meet all the wonderful characters that are heavily involved in both installments.

My Opinion

This is the second book in the Love Lindisfarne series and I would highly recommend reading the books in order so you can get to know all of the characters. All of the characters are written in such a way that you feel like you really know them, so when one of them is taken ill you wish for a speedy recovery. A lovely read with some great descriptions.

Love Beyond Lindisfarne is the second book in this series but I can easily say it can be read as a standalone. This book was to me a really good feel good read and I loved everything about it. The cast of characters were wonderful and I will admit to having one or two favourites. The author has described the places and characters so well that I almost felt I was there with them as I read this gorgeous book. The way the author gave a summary of the characters was brilliant and great for me who hadn’t read the first book. It’s a lovely easy read but one that really kept me entertained the whole way through. A perfect summer read.

I was so happy to see a sequel to Love Lindisfarne because I absolutely adored that book when I read it last Christmas and I really hoped we'd see more of Zen,Ellie and the islanders.
We had a really unexpected start to the book and I have to say that I really loved that opening, it took me by surprise but I ended up laughing out loud at parts because I could just see these characters coming to life and watch the scene unfold in front of me. We step straight back into Island life and it's like having a warm hug or being settled in that cosy chair by the fire, it just feels good to be there amongst all these familiar faces. Once again Ethel is a star character for me, she is just the life and soul of island life and every party on it, she has been the cause of pretty much every single laugh-out-loud moment I've had in this book, she just brings such joy onto the page. But every character steps out off the page for me, even the ones we all love to hate (step forward Isla!) because Kimberly Adams has created such well-rounded characters that you can picture them vividly almost as if they're standing in front of you telling you this over coffee instead of you reading it.
There are so many characters that I really hope we might get a book about in the future, I'm at least hoping we may get more to this series because I've fallen in love with them all and both books in this series have made me want to take a drive back to Holy Island and stay for a while.
If you're looking for a nice summer read to take away with you definitely add this to your list!

Love Beyond Lindisfarne
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Yet again Kimberley Adams smashes it!

What a wonderful second book, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, I was so excited. This beautiful story is the follow on from Love Lindisfarne.

We continue to follow Ellie and Zen as there relationship begins to move forward. However after Lady Grace is suddenly taken ill things around the castle begin to change, James has to support Lady Grace and help her with her recovery therefore Aiden is bought back from London to take over the running of the castle, but with Aiden comes his new fiancee who really cannot wait to upset the long standing residents on Lindisfarne including all of the animals.

How will her changes affect the island and its residents? Will life finally catch up with her? Does she realise who she has taken on?

Zen and Ellie try to keep the peace on the island but matters of the heart take a turn for the worst at the Maypole celebrations. Will Ellie find her true love with Zen?

All the beautiful animals are still very much alive and kicking in this second book and we also get to meet Duchess a new rescue dog, who truly does land on her feet!

This book is very much a story of love, hope, friendship, laughter and continued support for each other. A warm heart felt book from page one.

Now onto the matter of book three??? I just hope Kimberley Adams is hard at work on her computer typing up her third novel...

Thank you for taking me on a wonderful journey around a beautiful part of the world!

I was delighted to read this book as I adored the first instalment from this self-published author. A brave step to take, but I’m seeing more and more authors follow this path. Of course, I have also seen self-published authors finally land a publishing deal.
When we last visited Lindisfarne, the residents were all happy and looking forward to their bright futures. All of that changes when Lady Grace is taken ill and a familiar face steps in as custodian during her recovery. Worse still, for Ellie and Zen, that custodian brings his tiresome fiancé with him and all that the islanders hold dear is soon in jeopardy.
Being back on Lindisfarne was a total delight, and I was soon in my element catching up with the Islanders, whom I quickly grew fond of on my last visit. There was even a visit from the friends that Ellie had when she was in London, and their presence helped to create the element that is ‘beyond Lindisfarne’.
Kim has written a veritable love letter to the Northeast, and I was thrilled to visit some of the places that I discovered through my childhood and my interest in Vikings. This book boasts the perfect balance between fiction and fact, as the research is woven into the narrative.
The way the familiar faces from the first book pop up is perfectly handled, and I loved catching up with them all. Once again, the animals feature heavily in the story, and I adored learning more about their lives and the impact of the reality TV show on their daily routines.
The characters are well-developed, and the story is filled with warmth and a sense of community. The islanders and visitors are united by their dislike of the new management at the castle and the direction that their beloved Island is heading. Highly recommended, this is a definite treat of a book.

This story carries on seamlessly from Love Lindisfarne and takes you on the next stage in Ellie and Zen's lives. As before, family and in particular, friendship is at the heart of the tale. There is plenty of humour to be had from the events at the Castle which are under new guardianship, temporarily. The effect of the changes on the villagers' lives is huge but allows you to see the community pulling together and closing ranks around their own.

Ellie's London friends descend for a holiday which adds pace and life to the story. I loved the glimpses into the local countryside in Northumberland and many will recognise some of the landmarks the friends visit. With a mystery visitor from Zen's past to come to terms with, Ellie has to decide where she fits into his future, if anywhere. Ther is romance a plenty in the novel which carries within it a love for the area and a celebration of life on Lindisfarne.

In short: community life and lots of romance
Thanks to the author for a copy of the book

I received an advance review copy of this book, to review as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

This is a romantic comedy set in Northumberland, and I found it a delightful, feel-good read. From the very beginning, there was a cosy, comforting atmosphere, and I imagined Lindisfarne as a place that I myself would like to live. Ellie was a lovely protagonist, and some of her interactions with the other characters made me smile.

As I carried on reading, my heart warmed to Lindisfarne more and more, and this book did make me chuckle. I understood that it was the sequel to a previous book, which I haven't read, but I really enjoyed this book by itself, and didn't feel as though I'd missed anything. Of course, as I really liked this, I would like to read the previous book too.

Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources, and the author and publisher, for the opportunity to read and review this.

I couldn’t wait to read this book, after reading the first one, and I absolutely loved it!
It was great to be back exploring Lindisfarne with Ellie, Zen, Meg and Bert again, not forgetting all their friends and menagerie of animals and birds! The story followed on beautifully from the first one and it was great to see the characters and their stories continue to expand, even if they were faced with a rollercoaster of a storyline that had me on the edge of my seat at times!
I’m really hoping there will be more books in this series, as I’d love to follow what life holds for Ellie, Zen and all their wonderful Lindisfarne friends.
Do check out this book if you read the first one, it’s another great story.

Love Beyond Lindisfarne is the second in the delightful new series by Adams.

For those who haven't read the first in the series there is a quick synopsis at the start to keep you in the now.

I'm a huge lover of books featuring island life, I lived on one for forty five years myself after all. There's always a great sense of community, everyone's friendly and it's so easy to make new friends.

The characters are delightful, warm and friendly. And their fast becoming friends I look forward to revisiting and catching up with.

It's heartwarming, uplifting and everything gorgeous. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Lindisfarne.

A welcome return to Northumberland and the beautiful island of Lindisfarne where Ellie is now settled and enjoying life with Zen. Lovely to catch up with old favourites and meet some new faces when Ellie’s friends from London visit. Some not so nice characters from book one are part of the change happening as Lady Grace is ill and leaves the island to recover. Drama, community, friendships, assorted animals, humour and romance make this an exciting and enjoyable read.

Loved it!!!!!

Every bit as good as the first.

Witty, great storytelling with a wonderful mix of characters that keep you engaged and invested.

Living in North Northumberland, it's a delight to read, as sometimes I can take for granted all that there is to love about the area. Im now rekindling my love story with the area.

Loved it.

As soon as I had finished reading the first book, Love Lindisfarne, I started on the second one - Love Beyond Lindisfarne. No spoilers but it's good to see Poison Ivy, I mean Lady Isla, get her comeuppance.

At best, a holiday read. The writing was clumsy, the characters one dimensional. The plot was ok. I managed to finish it so it wasn't so awful I couldn't read to the end but that's about the best I can say about it.

Happy story about one of my favourite parts of the UK. A bit slow getting going and all the excitement coming in the last third of the story but I still enjoyed it.
