Can the shy curvy girl reach the heart of this scarred hero?
I've had plenty of random jobs, but never one like this. Now I'm responsible for feeding six hungry firefighters and they're more than a handful. But Brock, the chief, keeps himself closed off. He's huge, brooding and hot like a furnace. But when danger threatens me, he's protective in a way I've never encountered before. And he makes is very clear that he's claiming me as his own.
The firefighters of the Snowflake Falls Fire Department are ready to meet the curvy girls of their dreams. Each of these interconnected standalone one-hour romance reads are perfect for a lunch break or before bed read. No cheating, swoon-worthy heroes and always a HEA.
I'm Jessa Joy and I write about curvy women and the alpha men who can't resist them. Short, steamy and upbeat is the name of the game. I hope you (like me) enjoy a guaranteed Happy Ever After! Whether you're into office, holiday or second chance romance, hot billionaires, small town shenanigans or enemies to lovers intrigue, I'm here to fulfil your reading desires!
It feels good to be back in Snowflake Falls. I really love the world that Jessa has created.
If you're looking for a quick, sweet, small-town read with some steam and humor featuring a shy cook and a scarred fire chief hero, you should read this!
👩🍳Mila & Brock 👨🚒
With her sister's help, Mila gets a cook job at Snowflake Falls Firehouse because, let's just say, the previous cook (Chief Brock) had everyone's mouth on fire. 😆 Mila and Brock have a funny meet-cute with the help of Ember, the firehouse dog.
His Flame is the first book in the new Snowflake Falls Fire Dept series, and I can't wait to dive back into this world and read Maverick's story in His Heat.
I rate this 2.5 it was a fast quick fun read the writing was pretty good and this was actually better than I thought it would be smaller than most novellas so thought it’d be more rushed and though it definitely was she did it in a better way than many authors do so I enjoyed it so wish they had more time before he said i love you but it’s okay I had a feeling it’d be insta lovey at least there was like a week or so time skip so wasn’t just a day or two

Mila & Brock This was am easy filler read that took me under an hour. There wasn't much depth which was ok given the length but I would have liked more chemistry & spice between them instead.
It started stronger than it ended. The author really did build it up a bit which was nice but then it was so abrupt in its ending chapters. I know it's a short read, but maybe another chapter or two before the ending would have made this a bit stronger.
Mila is a timid woman, it was hard for her to engage in conversation with people, especially in large crowds which makes her uncomfortable. She is a beautiful plus-size, curvy woman, making her feel like it's a negative, it makes her stand out. In her mind, this makes her less appealing to men. She lives with her sister, Ava in the new town of Snowflake Falls.
Ava is more outgoing and happened to be talking to her hairdresser, and found out they need a caterer for three days a week for hot meals, and four days a week prepped freezer-ready meals for them, to pop in the oven. She received the job and had all the meals prepared and the ingredients ready for her first night. When she arrived at the fire station, it looked empty except for the dog, Ember, and Savannah the cleaning gal.
“Don’t let Ember bother you, she’s a piglet for food. Big, but gentle. Sort of like her owner.”
“She’s the chief’s dog?” She asked.
“Retired Chief, Atlas King is only part-time now. Handed over the station keys to Brock Thompson. He will be your new boss. A big bear of a man, with scars, strong-but-silent type. I’ll let you in on a little secret though, he used to make the meals for them, and I believe they’re relieved not to eat any more of his food.”
“Bad cook?”
The laugh told the story, but she said, “You could say that. A little heavy-handed with the chili. The only one who could eat it was Grizz, and he could eat anything. I’m sure you’ll hear all about it. Don’t be scared they’re great guys. Expect them back in maybe an hour, as long as the call isn’t too tricky. Here’s your keys.”
Mila goes about doing the things that need doing, putting the meals, and the ingredients for that night's meal. She prepped it on the counter along with the cookies, she baked. The big dog was sniffing the cookies when her back was turned. Telling her not to even think about it. Turning back to the stove, Mila heard a chomping sound. What she saw next was Ember, making off with the block of cheese she needed for the dinner she needed to make.
So the chase was on. However, she forgot she had failed, and put a pan on the stove to start the potatoes. Only Mila did not yet add the water when Ember made a run for it. That dang dog, thinks we’re playing. That's when she heard the deafening alarm, then came the harsh voice that told her there was a fire, and to vacate the building. That’s when Mila remembered, she put the pan on to boil the potatoes but didn't remember if she had even, put water in the pan.
“Are you Mila? I’m Brock, the chief. We run a tight ship here. Firefighters generally try not to start fires in our place of work.” I’m attempting a joke, but it comes out sounding sarcastic.
“I don’t see a fire.” Mila’s voice is low and soft.
Brock had to lean forward to catch what she’s saying. Although it’s clear she’s a little shy, she’s not apologizing. For some reason, I like that. If it was one of the guys, I’d hand him his ass on a plate.
“The alarm goes off if there’s smoke.” I point down at the stove.
“Don’t you usually put water in a pot with an open flame underneath?”
“That dog stole the cheese. I was trying to get it back.”
“Is that correct, Ember?” Ember barks. “She corroborates your story. What are you making anyway?”
Very cute story of two people who have been taught to shy away from the public for different reasons. Yet, don’t cower away from each other. Mila’s leeriness for her weight and Brock’s for his scars. However, they both craze the act of communication, praise, and touch. And boy, do they love the touch. These two take each other sexually to new heights.
I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Mila has moved to Snowflake Falls to live with her sister Ava, but she needs to get a job so when she learns of a position working at the small town’s fire station as a home cook, it could not be more perfect. Shy by nature she doesn’t make the best first impression on the new chief Brock when she sets the fire alarm off on her first day and she thought that they had a connection, but after her first day it seems that he is avoiding her and when they do meet they seem to have reluctant chats. But the night that she caters a private event that things go wrong, and Brock comes to her rescue, Could the grumpy and elusive fire chief feel more than just irritation for her, could he be her perfect match?
Brock has just taken over as the Fire Chief of Snowflake Falls, a little town but one that he has always loved and is now doing the job he always dreamed of, but his cooking is not up to scratch and he needs his fighters happy so he hires a new chef who specializes in home cooked meals. He did not expect that the new chef would set off the fire alarm on her first day nor was he expecting her to be the only woman for him. There is no way that she would ever be interested in someone like him, but the glances and the little chats give him the impression that maybe they have a chance. But could a misunderstanding ruin any chance they had, or will she give him the chance to explain?
I really enjoyed this story, and I cannot recommend this author more highly, her books are always light and sweet with some steam mixed in. I loved that Mila was not afraid to let him know how she feels despite being shy. 4* read
Feeding the Flame of Love - Mila was anxious about starting her new job and it only got worse when she ended up in a chaotic situation, which had Brock rescuing her. Brock isn’t really a people person especially because of his scars and even though he felt an intense attraction towards Mila from the moment he held her in his arms, he didn’t make a move on her. However, everything changed when Mila was in trouble, which sent Brock’s protective instincts into overdrive and led to him finally acting on his feelings for her.
Unfortunately, Brock nearly lost Mila because of a misunderstanding, but he persisted in clearing up the situation immediately and declared his intensions towards her. This is a sweet and spicy short story about two lost souls who didn’t realise they needed each other to fill the holes in their lives, until they finally acknowledged their feelings for each other. I am sure you will enjoy this book just as much as I did.

Mila (h) lands a cooking gig at the Snowflake Falls firehouse taking over the cooking duties from Brock (H), the taciturn yet captivating chief of the firehouse. Their initial meeting is too funny courtesy of Ember and a mishap with some cheese and smoke. She’s a bit of a kitchen wizard but pretty shy, especially around Brock, and their early encounters are filled with a mix of awkward chats and culinary wins, as she wins over the crew with her tasty dishes but struggles to crack Brock's tough exterior. Despite the rocky start, as they get to know one another, Mila and Brock begin connecting with one another, with the two opening up to their feelings. A somewhat dangerous fire situation leads to things to heat up between the two, though a misunderstanding threatens to burn their relationship and Brock will have to convince Mila he wants a future with her. Hot and steamy contemporary firefighter romance with a side of angst and plenty of humor.
Brock is the new chief at the firehouse and no longer has the time to cook meals for the crew. He hires a chef who specializes in home cooked meals. When he sees her in the kitchen he is stunned. He introduces himself and shows her around. Mila is very quiet, soft spoken and shy. She hopes she can handle this. Brock has pretty much stayed away from the kitchen and she wonders why. This is a great story which is entertaining, sometimes humorous and also a feel-good romance. You will thoroughly feel the passion, warmth and tenderness. I really enjoy Jessa’s writing style. There is an easy flow, very natural and enjoyable.

This is the 1st book in the Snowflake Falls Fire Department series featuring the cute sweet and steamy, entertaining romance between Brock and Mila. Mila begins working at her new job at the fire dept. as their new chef and the first thing she did when she started was to set the fire alarm off. Chief Brock comes running to her rescue and the two of them throw off all kinds of sparks. Brock is stunned when he sees the beauty that is Mila in the kitchen so he introduces himself and gives her a tour. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this cute sweet and steamy, entertaining romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

She's just started work as the new cook for the fire department. Mila is painfully shy, and Brock notices right away. He tries to shield her from people, but she thinks he's avoiding her. One day, she's working a catering gig when things go sideways. Can he get to her in time?
Cute, short, and easy to read. The dog is a brief side character, but funny. I really thought something crazy was going to happen, but that's what I get for reading this after darker books.
Mila may be shy, but that doesn't mean she is meak too, when Brock confronts her she manages to sass him back...before wanting to melt into a puddle of embarrassment. But the curvy little chef is exactly what the Chief needs to shake up his world, she doesn't let him take over, she stands her ground.... sweetly and shyly. But she also looks at him like a man, not seeing his scars or his growly demeanor....just a man she wants to strip and climb! It drives him to the brink! It's short, sweet and naughty, a great peek into the crazy that is Snowflake Falls Fire Department, I look forward to more books in the series. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
I loved His Flame Book 1 of Snowflake Falls Fire Department. This is a short and sweet story. Mila is the new cook for the firehouse and meeting Brock sends sparks through her body, but ambit fireman woukd never want a chubby chef. Or would he? Brock wanted her the moment he saw her but she doesn’t want a scared fireman. Or does she? I loved the storyline and the characters. He will protect her no matter what. I would definitely recommend this book.

Mila is new in town as a chef for the fire department. Brock is the fire captain. Their meet cute is hilarious! Right away they can feel the chemistry between them but both are afraid to make a move. They finally get the nerve to do something and are interrupted. Luckily, they get another chance. The steam is there! I love how their chemistry works for them. Jessa Joy is wonderful at giving us characters who are meant to be together.

Mila and her sister are new to Snowflake Falls, she is able to land a job as a chef for the firehouse. Her first day on the job, she sets off the fire alarm and is rescued by the fire chief. The chemistry between them is there from the beginning. Brock being the new chief is not sure if he should keep his distance, but there is only so much a man can take.
This like all the Snowflake Falls books are short and steamy.

Jessa Joy kicks off her new Snowflake Falls Fire Department series with the smoking hot His Flame. New-to-town Mila gets a job as part-time cook at the fire station and instantly makes an impression on the fire chief, Brock, in a hilarious meet-cute. Simmering chemistry is apparent from the start, but both are hesitant - he's her boss, she's younger...However, when Brock comes to Mila's rescue, will they be able to fight the fire burning between them? A steamy, fun, quick instalove romance.

I enjoyed this fun and steamy series opener that brings together Mila and Brock. She's just got a gig cooking for the fire department and he's the fire chief - that previously did the cooking and set everyone's mouth on fire with his love of hot spices ;D Mila and Brock had fab chemistry but their romance was sweet and steamy. Expect some humour, drama and danger when you dive into this entertaining romance :D

Mila, the new Snowflake Falls Fire Department chef, set the fire alarm off on her first day. Chief Brock comes to the rescue and sparks fly between them. This is a fast paced, instalove romance with likable characters, a bit of drama, steam, and a happily ever after. Super recomendo!
Sweet very quick read packed with heat, both literally and figuratively! 😉 A bit OTT, in that the main characters fall in love in such a short time frame, but still enjoyable. No cheating, very minor drama, no cliffhanger and a happy ending.
