I know, I know. Two stars isn’t high praise, but while I am highly frustrated with ALL of the characters and how things are going, I HAVE to know how it’s all going to end and how everything ties together.

The two stars reflects my agony with the total lack of answers and the obliviousness of Octavia to her little brother and with NO ONE TELLING her he’s actually evil/misguided and hurting others.

But I am addicted. I NEED to know how this ends.

2, take my money and keep writing (hopefully an ending that won’t make me hurl my eReader into a wall), stars.

Holy cow there's so much to unpack in this volume!

After a slow start, the story picks up speed as the author finally comes round circle to the volume 1 master purpose. The fake boyfriend Arc! As things become more and more tense along the way she finally comes to a decision, no spoilers here, and I was super happy to see this struggle closing. I was actually surprised how delighted I was to see her chosen partner having the warm fuzzy feelings that she didn't know he would have and unfortunately still doesn't know he had...

The choices to shake things up didn't just shake things up but shook the world of the story. I never expected the author to use the fake boyfriend as such an incredible tool to shake up the plot and not only bring so many pieces together but also surprise me in the process. With how many books I've read, I've read over 300 this year alone, I've gone to the point where so many stories are predictable and formulaic. This twist surprised me in a very pleasing way. It wasn't a twist out of left field for the heck of it, it was a slow burn planned twist that had me reeling for not having caught all the clues leading up to it. It was akin to the feeling of watching the Sixth Sense for the first time all over again. That sudden moment of "seriously" when the reveal so proudly comes to conclusion.

As it stands right now, the author could potentially wrap up the whole story in volume seven or they could expand out in many more volumes covering so much more intrigue and be just as solid. As for me, I find myself full of anxiety and frustration but the next book isn't ready to be read yet! This volume felt so short, and in a way it was a fairly short volume and more of a novella. And while I can complain about how short it was I don't feel like I can complain about the choice of where to cut off the volume. As far as the pacing goes with the story it was a good spot, though I say so begrudgingly. I feel like this volume is one of those that if I just held out for one more to be out I would be in a happier spot to binge read the two together. The wait between volume five and six was not nearly as bad as what I'm going to have to feel waiting for volume seven to come out...

In any case, for any of you reading my review if you don't have trouble with cliffhangers then by all means jump in and devour this book. If you're like me and a cliffhanger at the end of a really good read is painful, you might want to wait until the next volumes out? If you can...? In any case, it's a good read.

The story line is getting more and more convoluted. This volume actually made me pretty sad just by how much tragedy a single wish caused. But at the heart of this series it’s still a dense girl with an emotional stunted guy falling in love, so that’s still cute.

Quick read and I wait on bated breath for the next installment.

The further I get into this series the more complex it seems to get. Loving this series and the twist and turns in this volume. Our poor Princess!
