For years, everyone thought he was gone and then he strikes again.

After her father's house is burned down and her mother receives threats, Alexis knows she's running out of time.

The killer has set his sights on her.

With her own life on the line, she must confront her deepest fears in order to uncover the true identity of the illusive murderer before it’s too late.

Teaming up once again with her former flame and partner, Mitch, Alexis plunges into a desperate race against time. But as the body count rises and the killer's taunts grow bolder, Alexis realizes she's facing someone who knows her every move.

With each step bringing her closer into the killer's twisted game, Alexis grapples with the chilling realization that the key to stopping the bloodshed may lie in the darkest corners of her own past.

FOREST OF OBSESSION is the fifth instalment in Kate Gable’s contemporary, adult ALEXIS FORREST: FBI MYSTERY THRILLER series focusing on Forensic Psychologist FBI Agent Alexis Forrest. FOREST OF OBSESSION should not be read as a stand alone as the events of the current timeline are as of a direct result of the previous four instalments.

SOME BACKGROUND: Twenty years earlier, Alexis’ older sister Maddie was abducted and murdered, destroying the Forrest family in the process. With her return to Broken Hill to investigate a series of similar abductions, Alexis will reconnect with family, and the man who once held her heart.

Told from three first person perspectives (Alexis, Mitch, Tyler) FOREST OF OBSESSION continues to focus on FBI Agent Alexis Forrest’s search for her sister’s killer. As Alexis‘ investigation begins to gain traction, our heroine will discover there may be more than one person responsible for close to thirty years of death and destruction. Refusing to sit back and wait, Alexis places herself in the direct line of fire, often at the risk of her own life and the lives of the people she loves. As the picture begins to coalesce for our story line heroine, someone else continues to pull the strings, pulling our heroine head first into a game of cat and mouse.

Meanwhile, Alexis’ relationship with Mitch Dutton is about to be tested when Alexis’ obsession with a serial killer threatens any potential happiness or trust for our story line couple. Unable to let go, Alexis unwittingly pushes the man that she loves to reconsider their lives going forward but Mitch is the stabilizing foundation for our story line heroine.

FOREST OF OBSESSION is the culmination of five instalments wherein FBI Agent Alexis Forrest often deviates from her daily routine and assignments in an effort to bring down a man who has taken the lives of so many. FOREST OF OBSESSION is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal, power and control, obsession and madness, forgiveness and acceptance. The premise is edgy and dramatic; the characters are determined and charismatic.

First, let me say that I love the books by Kate Gable. They are real and fraught with emotion, people's strengths, determinations and, yes, even faults. I often get frustrated with FBI agent Alexis Forrest's main fault....which is that nothing matters but what she wants. Here we are, she is still trying to stop a serial killer, but she gives no care to anything or anyone but her goal. She is so obsessed over catching the killer that she lies to everyone, including her boss at the FBI. Her boss is totally unaware that her sister was a victim of the killer she is tracking. Working a case that you have personal connection to is against the rules. She has convinced herself that she is the only one who can catch this guy.

FBI agent Alexis Forrest is still after Tyler, a serial killer who killed many, many young people including her sister many years ago. She will soon discover that this crime was far more involved than she has realized during her pursuit of this demon. She still has Mitch, her loyal, loving, caring boyfriend, by her side, and as usual, she lies to Mitch by telling him she'll be careful, she won't take chances, and she'll keep him informed about where she is. A lie that has put her in danger many times before. She constantly expresses guilt over how she doesn't keep him in the loop, but just does what she wants anyway. The guilt is momentary and she will go full steam ahead with no regard to those who care about her. As usual, it backfires.

While this book can be read alone, I recommend that you read from the beginning to get the full story, the full picture and all the details. It is well worth reading and you will be hooked after the first book.

This is book five in The Alexis Forrest FBI Mystery Thriller series and omg it is definitely a must read. Alexis has decided to move in with her boyfriend Mitch but the killer is getting closer and while at her mother’s house she goes to the basement and finds something unexpected that sends Alexis in a spin and determined to find out what it means while going through the case files of her sister Maddie’s and all the other victims that were murdered Alexis finds even more disturbing news because things are not what they seem and the twists and turns keep coming at a break neck speed but she will not give up regardless of what she has to do or the consequences that she will face because getting justice for her sister and all the other has now become vital while hopefully bringing her closer to what happened while finding and capturing the murderer after all these years so now she will have to solve the puzzle that has plagued her life and family for so long. The web thickens and things are definitely not what they seem and the closer Alexis gets to the truth the more dangerous things start to become but will Alexis eventually get the closer that she desperately wants and needs so that she and Mitch can start to look forward to there future together that they both want and deserve after everything that they have been through. Wow this book was action packed and so addictive that I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting because the story had you turning the pages while on the edge of your seat with all the action and suspense and I can’t wait to read more books in this amazing and thrilling series.

This book is the fifth instalment in The Alexis Forrest FBI Mystery Thriller series. It chronicles Alexis' journey to hunt down the killer responsible for her sister's death and the deaths of many others. Time is of the essence as she races to find Tyler, who she knows is close. With each new revelation, the bigger the picture and the more people she discovers involved. She is taken aback by what she uncovers, as she initially believed it was the work of a lone individual.

After returning to her hometown of Broken Hill, Alexis moves in with her boyfriend Mitch, the local bookstore owner. Mitch is patient and kind, supporting her every step of the way, despite her impulsive actions at times.

I believed this would be the final book in the series, but I am thrilled to learn that there will be another book to follow. This is the type of book that captivates you from the beginning, especially if you have read the previous books in the series. I highly recommend this series as a must-read.

The fifth book in an edge of your seat thriller that keeps you holding your breath at times. FBI agent Alexis Forrest is obsessed with finding Tyler, a serial killer who abducted and killed many young people including Alexis' sister. With the help of her retired FBI boyfriend, Mitch she is bound and determined to catch this killer even though she's lied to her boss in not telling him her sister was one of the victims. Promising Mitch she will not get into hot water herself, she still jumps in with both feet and the murderer is playing cat and mouse with her and is always one step ahead. Having already burned down Alexis' father's house and threatening her mother, he knows what buttons to push. This is a nail biter that keeps you turning pages without stopping. I highly recommend the entire series including this 5th and recommend you read the series from beginning to this book! I can't wait to see what will happen next. I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Forest of Obsession continues Alexis' suspenseful search for the murderer of her sister, Maddie, with the help of Mitch, her boyfriend, and a retired police officer from North Carolina. Alexis finds new evidence in this serial killer's multiple murders which cracks the cases open leading her into dangerous territory with deadly forces. I could not put this exciting book down once I began reading as it kept me on the edge of my seat. The book is well written with its' realistic characters, plot twists, suspense, danger, kidnapping, and murder. I highly recommend this book and the series by Kate Gable.

This is yet another great read in this series and I love the thrill and danger while Alexis follows her obsession. The title definitely fits this read. The story pulls me into her thoughts, her world, and trying to balance the case that keeps calling to her, and her relationship with Mitch. She's strong willed, determined to bring this case to an end, and being kept on edge. I've really loved this series and looking forward to the next read!

Wow! This book is entirely focused on the original mystery, bringing it to finalization. And, even though you have known the killer's name since Book 4, there are still unexpected twists in this one as well! And even though I feel a sense of relief, I still want to read Book 6. Kate Gable is definitely an excellent writer to be able to have the reader holding his or her breath through 5 books and yet leave the reader wanting to read her next book. I will read some of her other series after I take a breather from this series and read some other genres for a bit.

I immensely enjoyed this book. The twists, the turns. It is very well written. That being said, I absolutely hate Mitch. While he seems nice, I can’t get over the pressure he puts on Alexis. I was annoyed by him the entire book. I feel like he definitely shows red flags (guilting her about doing her job, putting a tracker on her phone without her permission, etc) and I’ll be curious to see if Alexis stays with him.

I've just read this book after many books previously, and I've got to say it's been quite a journey.

I don't know how you do it but I just couldn't stop reading until I found out what happened in the end.
I have read all the books in this series because it grabs you from the beginning, and you need to find out who it is. I loved the characters and it made me feel that I got to know them. Incredible writing and thank you for keeping me up for hours reading them.

When I get my hands on one of Kate Gable's books I become so engrossed I block out everything else around me till I finish it. Alexis always gets herself in dangerous situations that are absolutely thrilling and comes close to getting snuffed out time after time. This series is spellbinding and I recommend it to anyone who likes to be kept in suspense right up to the end.

This series is still captivating. Does she really catch the serial killer/killers in this book or does it continue in the next book to be released in November. Only time will tell. This series was well done thought all 5 books, never let down on the suspense or style of writing. The plots kept you turning the pages until the end.

Is Forest Obsessed

At times I felt like Alexis got to involved personally to think about the people she really wanted in her life. That obsession almost got her killed. It was relaxing to realize that Mitch was equally obsessed with her safety and he did something about it!
