Wonderful end to the series - or maybe we can hope for a Secure Watch spinoff series! Lucas and Delilah’s story is complex and heart-warming. I love the depth of the relationships between all of the characters - even minor details like Cal calling Lucas kid showcase the fullness of the story. Loved the inclusion of Haven as a PTSD therapy dog. I highly recommend this entire series. One of the best romantic suspense series I’ve read in awhile.

Another amazing book by Katie Mettner. Secure one didn't even know Delilah and still had her back. Lucas was definitely a strong man to have feelings from years before and be able to hold them in until the timing was right . I love how the team worked together and did what they did. I have to say I'm happy with how it ended.

Wow….what a fantastic and thrilling end to the Secure One series!! I am sad to see it end as I have loved all the characters but excited for her upcoming spin off, Secure Watch.
From the opening chapter, you are taken on an explosive suspense-filled chase with bullets flying to heart-bounding action with helicopter rescues, cyber clues, military maneuvers, romance and more! If you like second chance, close proximity with romance, suspense and twists….this is for you!!
Forced to flee…Delilah (aka Lilah) is on the run and knows Lucas (aka Luca) is the only one that can help as well as the only one she trusts. It had been 6 long years since they had seen each other (and not by their own choice) and there are lots of questions and answers as to the cause, but first, they have to make it out alive. I truly enjoyed being on the journey of their relationship as all the pieces of the puzzle are put together - for their love and why she is being hunted. Loved the inclusion of Haven, the PTSD therapy dog and the role he played within the story. Both Lucas and Delilah have beautiful chemistry and history that you are rooting for their happily ever the entire book!
I just love the family unit of Secure One. Everyone has each other’s back, no questions asked. Lives put at risk for the sake of love and brotherhood/sisterhood. They took Delilah in and helped her and the case without batting an eye. Absolutely loved Lucas. He jumps into helping Delilah knowing they have some unfinished business and questions. I love his alpha protector persona, and desiring & loving who Delilah is despite the outward and inward scars she has. And I admire Delilah so much. She had made a hard decision and what she thought was best, and in spite of her current situation is always selfless and willing to put her life on the line for love.

“You can pretend the past doesn’t matter if that makes you feel better, but one day, I will find out what animal did to you and I will kiss every last scar.”
Clean writing, no profanity or crude language. There is “violence” as they are dodging bullets and essentially killing bad guys. Open door intimate scenes but are not overly graphic and to me tastefully written as much of it is implied and the focus is not on the physical acts but the emotional connection that it brings them together. Triggers - both character leads are military vets and deal with PTSD and have occasional flashbacks.

This was such an amazing story! Katie has you by your hand throughout the whole book! So many twists and turns.
I loved the story line and its hard to put the book down wondering what will happen next!

Holiday Under Wraps is a gripping story of second Chance love where both partners are emotionally and physically scarred. I so enjoyed hearing Lucas’s story and meeting Delilah. The action is pretty much nonstop and I especially loved how vulnerable both partners were. I can’t wait for the next in the series!

I really enjoyed this 6th book in the Secure One series!
Lucas of Secure One gets a call from the funeral director that he was instructed to call Lucas to come and pick up the Delilah’s ashes. Delilah and Lucas served in the war together.
Lucas is stunned since he had not heard from Lilah since she disappeared from his life six years ago. He never knew why she left or even if she was alive. When he got to the funeral home he was also given a letter from Lilah. When he reads it, he is taken aback because she states she is alive and needs his help. She asks him to meet her so she can explain. He takes to letter back to the Secure One group and discusses it with Cal and the group. His service dog Haven is with him and is helping him with his breathing he learned to help deal with his PTSD.
After discussing with Cal and the group he knows in his heart that he needs to go. They served together and became close and he could not let her hanging.
This books takes you on an edge-of-the-seat journey of trying to figure out who is trying to kill Delilah and why.
The book has it all, suspense, mystery, love, PTSD and learning how to cope with it, it has a love story, and, of course, the support of Secure One.
This is a “two time” read for me. I expect to read it again because I liked it so much !
The Secure One series always leaves me hoping that some day, soon, we will give out veterans the support and medical help they need. We need to have their backs like they had ours when they protected us

Someone is out to kill Delilah and she doesn’t know why, so she does the only thing she can- she reaches out to a man she hasn’t had contact with on 6 years. When Lucas hears from Delilah again after 6 years, it opens up a relative Pandora’s box from the past- and to save them both he has to confront it. Another fabulous story and characters from Katie Mettner in the Secure One series

I enjoy this series which has a core group of characters that appear in each book. However, each book features a different couple/potential couple as the main characters and the case being solved stands on its own. This book is set at Christmastime, but the characters are fighting for their lives and don't have time to celebrate.
I really liked Lucas and his service dog, Haven. He played a small role in a prior book and I enjoyed the chance to get to know him better. His story and how he is dealing with PTSD after his time in the army is interesting and informative. I really couldn't connect with Delilah, the other main character, but I was rooting for their happiness.
This is the last book in the Secure One Series, and I would rate it 3.75/4 stars. (I have one more prior book to finish that I'm really looking forward to!) However, the ending perfectly sets up the new spin-off series, Secure Watch, which sounds like it will be another winner.

This book is an amazing addition to the Secure One Series…sad to see the series end but I know Katie has more great stories ahead.
Katie writes stories filled with suspense, action, adventure that will have your heart pounding. Her characters are amazing, complex and fiercely protective of those around them.
Lucas and his dog Haven are an amazing duo - Haven is a service dog who helps Lucas manage his PTSD from being in the military. Lucas is holding onto some trauma from the past and works hard everyday to overcome his challenges.
Delilah may be may new favorite heroine…she is brave, incredible smart and really needs a break after being on the run for 6 years.

Perfect series ending.
I loved this book. The main characters are flawed in every way possible and have sacrificed much in their lives. They all prove they can get past those scars, those memories, what they had to do in the military, and trying to live post military. This is not easy by any means. The romance/love connection never wavers, despite them not seeing how they could live life together. Mix in corrupt military higher-ups and a ton of missing antiquities and you have a thrilling novel mixed with good and bad.

This book had me on tenterhooks all the way through. The intrigue built to a skyhigh crescendo and when we discovered the truth it was explosive. Lucas and Delilah work great as a team and when the members of Secure One are all on board to help them in their quest for the truth it’s a family working as one.This romantic suspense was so good and I am starting to become addicted to Katie Mettner’s work. Lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

Lucas is the newest member of Secure One. He works with a K9 who helps with his PTSD. Delilah contacts him in a weird way 6 years after dropping him off at the VA after promising to see him the next day asking for help letting him know she is alive and in severe danger.
Another action-packed book that will have you on the edge of the seat, wanting to know what is going to happen next. Throw in Christmas time and you got yourself a great holiday suspense!
I'm hoping the little teasers we have gotten in the last couple books in the series is meaning we are getting a spin-off series!

What begins as a melancholy dream quickly turns into a nightmare for Delilah Hartman. Pulled from her sweet memories by an unwelcome alert from her phone, it was the signal she dreaded with every waking moment.
She had been found. Again.
After six long years of running, she is weary to the bone. Her dream was no doubt inspired by the package she had recently sent to the only man she thought she could trust, Lucas Porter. Would he be able to decipher her message and help her, or would he even be willing to try? Those were questions for another day. Collecting her meager belongings before it’s too late, she walks into an ambush while trying to escape.
Elsewhere, Lucas Porter receives a present no one wants—an urn of human cremains. They allegedly belong to the woman he once loved, a woman who abandoned him six years ago after dropping him off at a VA Medical Center to deal with his escalating aggression triggered by PTSD from his time in the army. He couldn’t know that her failure to return to the hospital wasn’t her fault, but he couldn’t help the conflicting emotions he felt by this latest turn of events. Once he’s seen what she’s left behind for him, Lucas is convinced that there’s more to the story. As the “new kid on the block,” he’s reluctant to involve his team, but as we’ve learned by now, the folks at Secure One are a family, and no one is left to their own devices when there’s a problem to solve.
The plot unfolds a bit like an Indiana Jones treasure hunt, with Lucas reuniting with his lost love—if you thought those were her cremains, this would have been an incredibly short book, and I don’t even think I can call that a spoiler, can I?—as they learn how to work together again to discover who’s behind a series of vicious attacks on Lilah over the past six years and what it is that they are determined to have. She’s convinced it has something to do with ancient antiquities she was cataloging at the time of her departure from the army, but she can’t imagine what. The only clue she can think of was stored on Lucas’s person all those years ago, which is what prompted her to reach out to him in the first place. The plot unfolds a bit like an Indiana Jones treasure hunt, with Lucas reuniting with his lost love—if you thought those were her cremains, this would have been an incredibly short book, and I don’t even think I can call that a spoiler, can I?—as they learn how to work together again to discover who’s behind a series of vicious attacks on Lilah over the past six years and what it is that they are determined to have. She’s convinced it has something to do with ancient antiquities she was cataloging at the time of her departure from the army, but she can’t imagine what. The only clue she can think of was stored on Lucas’s person all those years ago, which is what prompted her to reach out to him in the first place. I love the Secure One series. The characters in this series are brave and have given so much of their lives to protecting others with no regard for their own safety and wellbeing. This one is a hair-raising, suspenseful ride that will shock you and cause your heart rate to accelerate. Danger is around every corner. What you can't immediately figure out is why someone is intent on destroying Lilah.
Delilah Hartman (Lilah) has been on the run for a while now. She has changed her identity so many times that she sometimes has to think about who she is supposed to be on any given day. This time when she gets ready to go on the run, she realizes she needs help from Lucas Porter (Luca).
Luca has suffered from PTSD, but his dog, Haven, and has been a life saver as well his job with Secure One. He has never fully recovered from the heartbreak of losing Lilah, so when she contacts him wanting his help, he is ready to go.
Once again Katie Mettner has hit a homerun. It has it all including, mystery, intrigue, suspense, twists, romance and the wonderful camaraderie I have come to love from the Secure One crew. This story has a little Indiana Jones vibe to it as well, which made this story even more delightful to read. One of my favorite quotes comes during a conversation between Lilah and Luca when she is trying to convince him that he is, in fact, a hero. "Maybe you don't feel like one, but to me, you are. To the people you saved on that base that day, you are one. That doesn't mean you are flying through the air with a cape. That's what makes someone commendable." Heroes do not always wear capes and masks. The crew of Secure One are all heroes, and so is Lilah.

The love from his past he thought he would never see again is in an urn with a letter written to him. After reading that letter, he knows for sure that something is not right, and Delilah is not dead. The hunt begins and the action is nonstop from that point forward until the explosive but perfect end to the story.
Katie Mettner has created a world of wonderful characters. The disabilities do not stop these people from being the best version of themselves. We the reader have come to love each and every one for their faults and "special" gifts that each one possess. The ending was the perfect lead into the new series, and I can't wait to see what comes next for these highly talented individuals. This is another exciting installment in the Secure One series. Katie does an excellent job of creating suspense and creating characters that you really feel for. I love that this book takes on what it is like to go through PTSD and what our military heroes really deal with in the aftermath of serving their country.
I'm a huge dog lover so this will probably be my favorite installment. A German Shepherd named Haven plays in integral role in this story and is a huge help to the main character, Lucas. He is the one who stands by his side to protect him as well as to help him whenever he has a PTSD episode. The affection between the two of them is endearing and a great addition to this story.
This is one of the best romantic suspense series I have read. I highly recommend all of the books to get the full experience but I recommend this one and the Masquerading Twin the most. Saving the best for last and I loved every minute of this read.

I absolutely love this series! Every single one brings so much mystery and adventure. They are not only page turners, but will keep you on the edge of your seat. Katie Mettner didn’t disappoint in this book either. Luca and Lilah were together at one time, but after Lilah dropped Luca off at the VA, it would be six years til they saw each other again.

The Secure One Team all have ghost that will always haunt them, but with the help of the others, they learn to deal with their memories, disabilities, and their fears.Lucas is the newest member of the team, and when someone from his past contacts and needs his help, he knows he will once again have to deal with all the pain and demons that he had finally tucked away. Delilah had been special to him, and even though she abandoned him when he needed her the most, he knows that he will be there for her,even if it kills him….and it might. This book is so full of intrigue and action, it will definitely make your heart rate elevate. I love that each of the Secure One series, focuses on one team member so we know who they are, where they came from, and what caused them to be who they are. I grow to love each one and I loved meeting Delilah and getting to know Lucas.

Lies, treachery, deceit, truth and love. What more could there be, a dog! This story is constant from page one, there is no slow moment that gives you time to breath. I help my breath several times waiting to find out what happens, I cried, I felt the pain of the characters as they tried to trudge through the mess and facts to put the jigsaw together and get the answers required to get through it all together. Lucas and Delilah were separated by unfortunate events, but neither ever forgot about the other. They will have to fight together with the team at Secure One to find peace again and what they both go through to get there is more than any person should have to go through in a lifetime.

This is another great book in the Secure One series. I can’t wait for the related series to start. Lucas and Delilah both suffer from PTSD. Lucas has his K-9 Haven to help him while Delilah has been on the run since dropping Lucas off at the VA years earlier to get help with his PTSD. Years of running while Lucas is supposedly living life and recovering. He doesn’t know what happened to Delilah or where she is. He works for Secure One (a job and a family) with his K-9 and is unexpectedly back in Delilah’s world when she contacts him for help. The story is fast paced with lots of action as well as providing insight into the impact of PTSD. I could not put this one down. I voluntarily read an advance copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The intense moments start from the very beginning of the book and the momentum just continually increases. I knew once I started reading I would just need to block out time because Katie’s books are that addicting! It’s a race against time for Lucas and Delilah to figure out who is hunting her and why. With all the suspense, you also get romance too! I can’t say enough about how incredible this series is!
