Ooh, it’s hard to review this book as there is lots I would love to say but to do so would give massive spoilers so will try my best lol.
Things are definitely not what they seem with the new case Sara and her team find themselves working on. My mind was running all sorts of scenarios as to what could have happened to the local MP’s daughter, Sophie. What was more strange was when another teenager disappears. You could feel the parents plights in what they were going through, although at times I wanted to give them a big shake at the reactions of some of them.
Poor Sara has it coming from all sides. Constant calls distracting her from the investigation from the parents. Tensions are high with her being at the end of the stick and I really did feel for her as she is only trying to do her job. It’s hard to know as a parent how you would react when your child goes missing and I don’t envy the police force when it comes to this but I would like to think I would behave better than the majority of the parents in this one.
Gone… But Where? will certainly keep you guessing and there was no way in this world I could ever have guessed correctly. When all becomes clear, it did leave me with mixed feelings for all the parties that are involved but it’s hard to collaborate on this more without giving away any spoilers. Yet again the author had me totally hoodwinked and I raced through the pages of this fast paced read. It might be the 24th book in the series but the momentum hasn’t dropped one iota throughout. Grippingly good!
My thanks to the author for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
When teenager, Sophie Todd goes missing, Sara and the team pull out all the stops to find her. Unfortunately, Sophie’s dad is the local MP, he isn’t keen on Sara and decides he will do what he wants, which hampers the investigation.
With no clues as to where Sophie is, the team can’t help but worry that she has been kidnapped. When another child disappears from the same school as Sophie, the team are in despair with no clues to work with.
With both Sara and Carla having things going on in their personal lives, the ladies are under extreme pressure.
A great story that should make people sit up and think. How much do you know about your teenager’s life? Do you know their friends, enemies, how school is going?
An interesting and well thought out storyline. I could feel Sara’s frustration regarding this case.
The characters were believable and I couldn’t help but get annoyed at a couple of them for the way they behaved.
Jeez - book 24 - and, tbh, if you haven't already read the previous books, I think you're well beyond playing catch-up! But if you are inclined, I would definitely recommend it... That said, as always, the main story being told herein is self contained. So, in this book we have a missing teenager. Not usually DI Sara Ramsay's remit but said missing teen, Sophie Todd, is the daughter of the local MP. Queue maximum entitlement and interference which really gets on Sara's wick as she and her team start their investigations... But they are just getting started when another teen, coincidentally from the same school, also goes missing. Who is taking these children, and why? The pressure mounts for Sara to get to the bottom of things and bring them home. And then there's a third, but this time, the disappearance makes the picture start to become clearer... I love this author, I love this series. It's no secret. So I usually make sure that I clear my decks when I start a new book as I know that be useless for the duration until it is finished. This book was no exception, containing everything I want and need to make a good book a great read. The usual cracking characters, engaging and interesting plot, and no superfluous waffle or padding to distract. With perfect pacing completing the set, ramping up to deliver a shocking ending. All in all, another cracking addition to an already well impressive back catalogue. Roll on next time...
It's amazing just how talented M. A. Comley is, at managing to keep a series which is on its 24th book already, still feel fresh.
For that is exactly what she has done in this book, which Sara and her team having a different sort of case to solve. And just for once at least initially it doesn't involve a dead body!
It's a case of a missing teenager, who just happens to be the daughter of the local MP that has disappeared. And there is a complete lack of evidence, or real theories as to what may have happened or who might be behind it.
I really felt for Sara during this and as it can't be good having a politician hounding you every couple of hours when you are trying to your best for them. He seems to undermine her and it really frustrated me.
I was incredibly interested in this case and trying to see if I could figure it out before Sara. And it was good to see more of her and Carla's personal lives too.
This was addictive and I couldn't read it fast enough. Another cracking addition to this series.
Thank you to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Excellent but troubling read if you are a parent of a teenager. Highly Recommended
When the daughter of a local MP disappears from school Sara and her team are alerted.
Because of her father’s standing in the community, a kidnapping is suspected but as a day or so passes, there is no ransom demand. It’s a tough case for Sarah, especially as she has crossed swords with the MP in the past and he is a persistent thorn in her side , badgering her constantly for updates.
There appears to be no reason for this top performing and popular popular student to run away from home and fears grow as yet another student disappears and, once again there is no evidence of a kidnapping. Are these teenagers being trafficked, being held against their will for another reason or, worse still, no longer alive.
Meanwhile, both Carla and Sara are also dealing with their own personal problems and, to top it all, thee parents of the missing teenagers are badgering Sara for results.
Could matters get any worse?! A really nail biting read.
When the daughter of a local MP Ray Todd, goes missing Sara’s heart misses a beat. They’d already had a run in with each other, a few years previously, when Sarah was new to the area. Eager to find his daughter Todd organises a press conference against Sara’s wishes. The school pupils hold a Virgil for Sophie but then another pupil goes missing. Without any idea where the children are, Sara and her team start looking at recently released peadophiles. Drawing a blank they can’t believe it when the school ring to say another child failed to turn up to school. Where are they? Who has them? Are they already on their way out of the country to the sex slave industry? Sara and her team, whilst dealing with their own person issues, finally track them down. But will things ever be the same again?
Sara & Christine make a great team . Loved reading their story this time around, Great team work with Craig and Barry when they all found out about the house all three tees had though to run off to Sophie's dads other house to hide out, after their patients choose to work more then pay attention to them . sounds Sophie convinced her friends ( Daniel & Leona ) to stay with her to teach their patients a hard lesson. Great team work with Craig and Barry,to help wrap up the case so Sara could go be with Mark & his dad at the hospital at the end of Marks mothers life. Such a sad story. I just lost my dad so this story touched my heart so much 💕. when Mr Fisher started talking to his wife leaving him all alone . Thanks M A COMLEY for writing such a great story once again.
W o.w book 24, of DI Sara Ramsay When a prominent mps daughter goes missing, the team is called in. Sara has previously had run inns with Me Todd, which resulted in him making a complaint to her superior. As they start the investigation, Sara is being called by the mp every couple of hours for updates they don't have. ..... when a second child goes missing from the same private school ..... what is going on?? No leads ... then a third child goes missing. Have they been abducted?? Run away,??? This is an intriguing case for the team. Can they solve it??? Where are the children???? One of the team. Has a health scare??? If you have never read the D I Sara Ramsay series, you most definitely should. Love the series. May it long continue......
When teenager Sophie Todd goes missing the team are up against it especially since the missing girl is the daughter of the local MP Ray Todd who is a belligerent man that Sara knows only too well. But time is ticking away & Sarah & the team soon are made aware that another teenager from the exact same high school has also gone missing with no clue left on the ground as to their whereabouts. Speaking to all sets of parents reveals no new clues about the missing teenagers & the team are desperate to find them. This book is spine tingling , nothing is straightforward as the end will show you. A very difficult read for highflying parents.
When a teenager goes missing Sara and her team start investigating. The situation isn’t helped by the fact that her father is an MP who is very demanding of Sara’s time. When another teenager goes missing things become even more difficult as the team search for clues. This books keep you gripped throughout, desperate to find out what is happening. Nothing is as it seems with the ending a real surprise. Sara then has to deal with family problems herself with heartbreaking consequences. A real rollercoaster of a book.
Phew. What a case! How they kept their tongues shushed with this one. I do not know! Lots of patience I do not have The team as always full on and ready to roll. The parents….sadly too believable. Attitudes and the way people speak. The teens, well I see the feelings, the actions which I can’t put here as no spoilers. Frustrating and you gotta read this to see what I mean. Getting to know these characters means we cheer, hurt and want more for them. Fab series
Book 24 in the DI Sara Ramsey series and it doesn’t disappoint.
Sara has her hands full when the local MPs teenage daughter is reported missing! As well as trying to find out what has happened Sara has the wrath of the MP and his constant phone calls to deal with.
The plot thickens when another teenager from the same school disappears and then another! Can Sara and her team solve the case before it ends in tragedy.
Really great book. I love how it’s a mixture of professional and personal. The ladies work so well together. The book grips you from the start and the twist and turns you definitely don’t see coming. I always read and buy this authors books.
As always Mel is a great story teller love her books and this one didn't dissapoint felt sorry for Sara putting up with parents who expect instant results loved it 5 Stars.
Disappointed in this one! Have enjoyed all the previous in this series but this one lacked any real story - didn’t feel like the usual type of book from this author and series.
Disappointed with this book. I have never said that with any of Mels books. No story really. So different from your normal genre. Looking forward to reading Frozen in Time.
I loved this story line, it had me hooked from the start. One character had me fuming & thought yep that’s about right for them (no spoilers). I did think early on that maybe things weren’t as they seemed. But it gripped me till the end & yes the ending was a shock but I loved this book & felt for most of the characters apart from one or two, you understand once you read the book. This book is a page turner & will have you wanting to know how it ends.
