I’m a romantic. There, I said it. I believe with all my heart in wedding bells and happy ever afters. What can I say? The bar was set way too high by my brother’s best friend. A boy who kissed me under a starry sky when we were teenagers… then disappeared.

But years later, my belief in true love doesn’t sit well with the men I date. They say I come on too fast, too strong. After getting dumped once again, I vow it’ll be the last time. I’m going to learn how to be casual, and I’m going to start by kissing a stranger.

Only what if the handsome dark-haired stranger I choose that night outside the bar isn’t actually a stranger? What if he’s the one who ruined me for good?

Wait For Me is a brother's (ex) best friend romance, part of the Quince Valley Romance Series. It is recommended to be read ahead of the other books, but can also be read as a complete standalone as there are no spoilers for subsequent books.

This was such a fun quick read for me! I just love Claire's books so much! I'm such a fan of the brother's best friend trope. Not to mention, this book takes us back into the Quince Valley series.

Cora and Tristan were clearly destined to be together. They both have had feelings for each other for years. There's definitely some miscommunication going on here with Tristan, Cora and her brother Sam.

While it's a quick novella, you can still feel the pull with these two. I loved their story!

More 4 1/2 🌟 What an enjoyable second chance brothers best friend romance. This was a really quick easy read being a novella but the story didn’t disappoint. Cora and Tristan were perfect for each other and their chemistry was incredible, I simply adored them together. This is part of the Quince Valley Romance series and I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

He was her first kiss, but he walked away. What will he do after their second one?

Cora Caplin was considered the flighty one in her family. Her older brother, Sam, was the one who received all the praise from their parents. She always felt as if she was a disappointment to the family.

Twelve years ago, when Cora was sixteen, she kissed Tristan, her brother's best friend. It was her first kiss, and for her, it was perfect. On the other hand, Tristan immediately left town the next day.

Since he left, her dating experiences haven't gone well. She'll date a new guy, decide he's "The One" and start planning their wedding. Only the new guy dumps her because it's way too much way too soon.

Her friend, Mia, has the solution to Cora's problem. The two of them will go out for the evening, and Cora needs to kiss a stranger, someone who's not her usual type. Cora insists there can also be no connection whatsoever to her brother, Sam, unless, by some fluke, it would be Tristan. End of problem per Mia. Cora sees someone walk through the door, and she's immediately struck by him. But Mia distracted her by finally returning with their drinks, and she lost sight of him.

Tristan Galloway didn't have an easy childhood. He remembers bits and pieces of his father, but he thought they were a happy family until, when he was six, his father just walked away. His mother turned to alcohol and married a man who barely tolerated him. Often, they forgot to buy food. Tristan stayed at Sam's home many nights. Sam always brought an extra lunch with him every day. They were best friends until, all of a sudden, they weren't.

Tristan, or TJ Galloway, as he's now called, is a well-known freelance photographer. He's come back to Quince Valley to try and take photographs in the supposedly haunted wing of the resort where Cora works.

He's the stranger she kissed that night, although she did recognize him before the kiss. But he’s not back to stay. Will he be there long enough to explain what really happened the night of her first kiss?

Wait for Me is a second chance / brother's best friend romance that is an easy read that quickly pulls you in.

Cora had a crush on Tristian growing up and was the one man she would compare all to, especially after he kissed her. Now tire of being alone, she decides to kiss a random stranger, but he is not a stranger.

Tristian had a passion for photography and make it his life. Coming back home to take pictures from a request, he did not expect to run into the one woman he could not forget, and could not have.

Love the ups and downs of the story, with the twist of mystery.

Imagine being a hopeless romantic and it ruining every relationship you have ever tried to have…after him.

Cora fell in love with love at the age of 16. She was crying on the porch steps when Tristan finds her. They share an intimate moment with Tristan being her first kiss. From that moment forward she strives for the feelings that she had when she was 16. Tristan left town 12 years ago and hasn’t been seen since. Cora never let go of the feeling that she was missing a piece of herself.

Just broken up with at the age of 26, Cora’s best friend comes up with a plan that Cora needs to kiss a stranger. Cora searches the bar looking for the perfect guy to kiss, but doesn’t immediately see anyone. Until she looks up at the guy walking through the door. The complete opposite of the preppy men she’s chooses, but loses him in the bar.

She knows she can’t fail the chance to kiss a stranger and sets her eyes on a guy wearing a tan suit jacket sitting at the bar. She follows a bus boy to try to get to the bar as he finishes the last of his glass of beer only she doesn’t realize the bus boy had stopped. She walks into him and has a tray of beer and alcohol spilled all over her. She nearly falls, but realizes that there is an arm around her waist.

She runs out of the bar humiliated and is followed by the guy who caught her. He seems familiar and asks him his name which is T.J. She explains that she came there tonight to be kissed and decided that T.J. was the perfect stranger to kiss.

She kisses him and he pulls back, but their bodies are still close. Before she can say anything he puts his hand on her cheeks and passionately kisses her. Cora moans out Tristan while kissing him taking her by surprise. To which he reply’s yes!

Will Cora and Tristan have their happily ever after? Will Cora find out why Tristan disappeared for 12 years? Does Tristan still have feelings for the girl who feel in love with him at the age of 16? Is this their second chance?

To find out read this romantic novella story written for every girl who is a hopeless romantic and still remembers the feelings from their first love!

This is the 1st book in the Quince Valley Romance series featuring the short and sweet brother's best-friend, childhood crush, second chance romance between Tristan and Cora. Tristan was best-friend's with Cora's older brother and she fell in love with him when she was 16. Tristan found Cora on her porch steps crying and they shared a sweet and tender first kiss that has effected Cora to this very day. Tristan also left town right after their special moment without saying anything to anyone. Now it's 12yrs later and Cora has just been broken up with again so her best-friend has the idea that she should kiss a stranger. Cora looks around the bar trying to find the perfect guy but doesn't notice anyone until she spots the guy coming through the door. Cora lost sight of the guy but she's not giving up she walks behind a bus boy trying to get to the bar and she doesn't realize that he stopped until his tray spills all over her. Cora is so embarrassed that she runs out of the bar and the guy who stopped her from falling follows her. Cora thinks that he looks familiar so she asks his name and he responds TJ and she tells him that she was only at the bar to get kissed. Cora decides to kiss him and TJ separates himself from her but they're still standing pretty close and before she knows it he places his hands on her face. TJ kisses her passionately and she moans Tristan's name. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this short and sweet brother's best-friend, childhood crush, second chance romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Cora Caplin lives in Quince Valley and works housekeeping at the Rolling Hills Resort. Her brother Sam’s best friend Tristan kissed her when they were teenagers and then left town. Cora never knew what tore Sam and Tristan’s friendship apart when she was 16. She just knows that they both left town and don’t talk anymore. Tristan set the bar high for all the other guys in Cora’s life. After another boyfriend dumps her for being too serious too quickly, Cora decides she needs to change things. She is now 28. She goes with her best friend to the Blue Line Bar and tells herself that she will pick a stranger and kiss him.

Tristan Galloway is a photographer and goes by TJ in his professional life. He is back in Quince Valley after 12 years to take pictures of the east Wing at the Rolling Hills Resort where supposedly a ghost lives. He has a beard and is wearing a ball cap to hide his identity. He walks into the Blue Line Bar.

Cora sees this stranger in a ball cap and is instantly attracted to him even though he is not her type. She ends up losing sight of him but sees a guy at the bar that is her type. She tries to go to the bar to introduce herself. She ends up bumping into a busboy who drops a tray of dirty glasses on her. She in humiliated and runs from the bar. Tristan follow her and tries to tell her who he is but she takes charge and kisses “the stranger”. While kissing, Cora realizes “the stranger” is actually Tristan.

I was rooting for them to get together even though Tristan was leaving on assignment again.

Tristan has completely stolen my heart! Sweet, thoughtful and loving, a true romantic, a man who doesn't think he knows how to love and opening his heart to the possibility anyway. Wait For Me is designed to be a prequel to the Quince Valley series, most of which I've already read, and it sets the stage perfectly for the upcoming renovations to the Rolling Hills Resort and the mystery hidden within.

“You asked me if I regretted kissing you—the answer’s no. I always knew you weren’t for keeps.”

Cora and Tristan were so beautiful together, their love for each other never-ending throughout the years. I loved how Tristan opened up to Cora, sharing all the broken pieces of himself and realizing what it truly meant to love someone. With breathtaking kisses and tender moments under star filled skies mixed with Claire's signature steam, hopeless romantics will fall in love with Cora and Tristan.

Wait For Me by Claire Wilder is a delightful prequel to the Quince Valley Romance series. It's a heartwarming story about love, second chances, and the power of forgiveness.

Cora, the protagonist, is a romantic at heart who believes in true love and happy endings. After being hurt by her latest relationship, she decides to take matters into her own hands and kiss a stranger in a bar. Little does she know that the man she chooses is none other than her brother's ex-best friend, the boy who broke her heart years ago.

The story is a quick and easy read, perfect for a cozy evening. It's a lighthearted romance that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. The characters are relatable, and the plot is engaging. Wilder does an excellent job of building tension and anticipation throughout the story, making it difficult to put down.

One of the things I appreciated most about this book is the way Wilder incorporates the second chance and fake dating tropes into the storyline. It's a refreshing take on these popular romance themes, and Wilder does an excellent job of making it feel both reasonable and realistic.

Overall, Wait For Me is a charming prequel that will leave you wanting more from the Quince Valley Romance series. It's a perfect read for anyone who loves a good romance with a touch of humor and heart. I highly recommend it to fans of Wilder's previous works and anyone looking for a light, enjoyable read.

4.25 stars. Cora, the female lead, has been accidentally chasing off partners because she goes too deep too fast. When her latest boyfriend dumps her, she’s determined to learn how to do light and casual. When she sees a stranger in her small town, she figures he’ll be perfect. Then she realises he’s her brother’s ex-best friend.

Tristan, the male lead, is back in town to chase up the ghost mystery that enthralled both Cora and him when they were younger. He’s not averse to seeing her but didn’t expect to be welcomed after he disappeared after their last kiss when they were teens. But Cora’s practising casual and she figures that knowing he’s only here for a short time means he’s the perfect candidate…

This novella is dual POV, well written, and an almost bittersweet and steamy contemporary small town romance. I enjoyed the depth of both lead characters’ emotions and their willingness to be vulnerable with each other. I enjoyed Cora’s confidence in who she was and what she wanted. I enjoyed Tristan’s shifting perspective on what love meant. I enjoyed their steamy, emotional intimate moments. I enjoyed the resolution, and the setup for the series.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

Tired of always falling too fast and too hard for the wrong guys is the story of Cora’s life, but now trying to get out of this funk she is in, she’s determined to let loose and go for casual. One kiss with what she thinks is a stranger changes so much of her life so quickly especially when she finds out that he isn’t a stranger at all but the guy who ruined her for all men, her brother’s ex best friend, Tristan. Cora tries her best to play the kiss off and act cool but underneath her bravado she is still that young girl pining away for the boy she can’t have. Tristan has spent years traveling for work to avoid coming back home, but now he’s back and Cora is the one on his mind constantly. After the kiss Tristan isn’t sure which direction his career will take him, but he knows he wants to set some wrongs right while doing the one thing he always wanted to do for Cora and exploring the wing of the hotel that holds the story of Eleanor. IF you’ve read the other books in this series the story of Eleanor plays a huge role in it and this was just the chef’s kiss adding that extra flavor to such a short and quick read. I would LOVE to have more time with Cora and Tristan because of their story and the connection they share, but just getting this short glimpse was absolute perfection!

Wait for Me is part of the
Quince Valley Romance series. It's a short and steamy, opposites-attract, small-town, girl gets her brother's best friend, second-chance romance. Cora is a 28 year old hopeless romantic with a heart of gold. Tristan was her older brother's best friend, and her crush when growing up. They kissed when she was 16 and then he left town the next day. She ends up at the bar one night with her friend after being dumped earlier that day via text. She decides she's going to kiss a random stranger and ends up kissing Tristan, not recognizing him at first. He is now a photo journalist and in town to take some photos of the old hotel she works at. She was always fascinated about the rumors of a ghost that died there due to love. The two reconnect and have some steamy fun, but Cora knows it's only temporary. Or is it? Tristan clearly cares for her but believes he is incapable of love. Can Cora prove him wrong? I loved this story. This couple had amazing chemistry, and I really felt their emotions. And the ending was so romantic!! This was my first book by this author, but it was definitely not the last!! I loved everything about this short and spicy read.

I am such a sucker for these kinds of books... She's sweet sixteen and never been kissed and crushing on her older brother's best friend. Meanwhile, he has also been crushing on her and against his best friend's wishes, is the first to kiss this sweet young girl. It's now ten years later and that undeniable pull, the connection that they both felt years ago, is still there. But ten years is a lot of time and there is still that pesky problem of him being the brother's best friend. So, what's a girl to do? ... and a guy for that matter?
I am so glad that Wilder added this novella to the series. First, it's another love story from Quince Valley that needed its story told. Second, it gives some great background information to the overall Quince Valley series. Third, it's Claire Wilder and she just writes a good romance story. i knew the two main characters were made for each other right from the beginning and I still found myself rooting for them throughout the book!
I would definitely recommend this book.

Tristan doesn't know how to love, he runs a mile in the opposite direction when love becomes a possibility, hes ran from his best friend and his little sister Cora because he couldn't keep his promises. Cora has always loved Tristan he saw her for what she was and accepted her, kissing her before her 16th birthday but promptly leaving shook her confidence but she still held a firm belief in love.
A kiss years later brings them together again, and while their time is limited Cora holds nothing back finally telling Tristan what he needs to hear to break his cycle.

Read this if you enjoy brothers best friend romance, small town romance, slow burn romance (years in the making), dual pov writing, steamy scenes, pure love, beautiful characters, prequel novella, short read, HEAs.

He was the one person in her world who understood her, then he left her heartbroken. Twelve years later, Cora has been with a string of men who have left, each saying that she comes on too strong, wants too much.

After her latest relationship ends, via text, Cora looks to get over it by kissing a random stranger in a bar. Imagine her surprise when the man she chooses to kiss in none other than her brother's ex-best friend; the boy who broke her heart has returned, and he's all grown up.

Wait for me is a short novella, previously released as an exclusive newsletter story. The story is an easy, uncomplicated read without much depth and gives a perfunctory happily ever after.

Fans of Claire Wilder's Quince Valley series may be happy to have another addition to the series.

Prequel Perfection

I have loved every book in the Quince Valley series by Claire Wilder, falling deeper into each story and enjoying every spin-off. And Wait for Me is no different. Yes, it's a prequel. Yes, I know how it all ends. And yes, I still loved it.

Wait for Me is the perfect peek into the small town feels Wilder infuses into her entire series. It lays the groundwork for a plot thread that weaves its way through every Quince Valley, stronger in some than in others, but still ever present. And while it’s short in pages, it’s deep in the emotions and strong on the steam. Cora and Tristan are wonderfully relatable characters, and their HEA, while not without heartache, is worth it all in the end.

Whether you’re visiting Quince Valley for the first time, or coming back home, Wait for Me is a wonderful novella to dive into for a quick weekend read.

I absolutely love brother's best friend romances! When I found out this book was set in Quince Valley, I was hooked. Having read everything else in this series, it was interesting to go back in time, knowing what happens later.

Cora and Tristan waited so long for their happy ending and were kept apart unnecessarily. Tristan hasn’t been back to his hometown in over 10 years, and he looks much different now. When Cora interacts with him, she doesn’t even realize who he is at first. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and their spark practically jumps off the pages.

Cora is continually trying to meet new men but doesn’t let her hopes get too high. She tries not to get caught up with Tristan since he always leaves. But is this the time he will stay and make a claim to Cora?

I loved reading about their growth, and I wish the story could continue!

This novella is a sweet little treat for fans of Claire Wilder's Quince Valley series. Cora has stayed at home, working and volunteering in their hometown, after her brother, Sam, and his best friend, Tristan, have gone their separate ways. She fell for Tristan when he kissed her just before he left town without telling anyone. Tristan broke his promise not to mess with Cora, ruining his friendship with Sam. Years later, these kids have grown up and fall for each other all over again. It seems no one else is the right one. Imagine that! This is romance at its short and sweet best. Don't we all wish for a first love like this?
I doubt this will appeal as a stand-alone story, so read the other books first!

I have read a few books in this series and none have disappointed.
Tristan is a world renowned photographer. He left town without an explanation. He was best friends with Sam and Cora’s childhood crush.
Cora is Sam’s little sister. She was off limits but that didn’t stop Tristian from kissing her on her 16th birthday.
Tristian is back for a photographic assignment and runs into Cora. They soon feel all the childhood crush craving again.
This series will run you through the gauntlet of emotions. I have been emotionally spent from everything in this series that I have read and this short novella is no different.
You will not be disappointed if you love, love.

Tristan and Cora gave a past, connected through her brother and family. The best friend and substitute family when his homelife got unbearable ( which was often). The hot who didn't dismiss his friend's little sister.
Tristan is now photographer, left home as soon as he could, but it ended his relationship with his friend. Life has changed them all over the years, but he and Cora shared an interest in a ghost who is said to haunt the resort where she works. His unexpected return to hometown is the beginning of their future, sharing thoughts and feelings, shaping their hopes and desires for more.
Cute novella.

Cora is out there looking for a stranger to kiss. Why you ask? Well because it's the perfect plan to get over yet another failed relationship. So kissing a stranger sounds like a marvelous idea. However, intervention has other ideas, and when the one stranger you find out you know comes back into your life. Well BAMMMM your life is about to change. Tristen is back home after leaving for years. He plans to get in and out, but when the beautiful girl he once knew needs help he's there. Their feelings have always been there, but not everything is about to be out in the open. Will they survive it? I loved this story and how instead of going back to the past Claire wrote in a way that made past, present, and future flow together. Can these two have the beautiful life they dreamed of once?

This may be a quick read, but it is full of emotion, so much so, I had tears in my eyes more than once.
The sweet, innocent young love that Cora had as a girl, only to have her crush disappear the next day. Her feelings of being “too much”, they way she was brushed aside by her boyfriends as she got older. It was all so sad.
When we get Tristan’s side of things is makes it even worse, his feelings for Cora made him feel guilty for breaking promises to his best friend.
I loved how they reconnected at the start, and how it made Cora stronger when he had to leave. His surprise was the best! And the HEA was perfect.

After their first kiss, he left town and she never expected to see him again. Everyone says that she is 'too much' in how she thinks and how she feels. Will she ever find someone who can accept her for the way she is? He broke the rules and has stayed away until he couldn't any longer, but he was still hiding. What if the stranger she kissed wasn't one? Would her brother accept his little sister and his best friend being together? Would she finally be 'just enough' instead of 'too much'? Read this lovely novella and find out.

All in all, the book's boring. Honestly, there are haikus with more depth and bigger emotional charge. I didn't care for the couple, not at the beginning and not at the end. The plot was unimaginative and too bland for me to even care about the blandness, the love was unbelievable, the romance flat and they cried a lot for some reason.

Good thing it's a novella. I still can't believe it was written by an actual adult.

I'd say something about the god-awful happy ending but I need to book an appointment with my GP to check my sugar level.

Wait For Me is a cute prequel to the Quince Valley series which was previously published as part of an anthology, but deserves to take its place as an entertaining, novella-length introduction to the small town, the resort and the mystery which play central parts in the full-length books. The romance between Tristan and Cora stands completely on its own and is both spicy and romantic. A perfect feel-good-quick-read that will leave you wanting more!.

It is a cute and short read, less than 100 pages. It’s in first and dual-pov, present tense. It’s a second chance, brother’s best friend, a bit spicy romance. I liked that we got to know them a little more, we got a backstory for Tristan and Cora. Both characters are relatable, they are portrayed realistically. The one thing I didn’t like about the FMC is that she was a bit too emotional, at least for me. Overall, I enjoyed it, I’d recommend if you want to read a short romance.

Novellas can be tricky for me because I often find the plot is rushed or I can't connect with the characters. However this one was really well done.

I am a big fan of Claire's books and loved getting to read another book in Quince Valley. Cora wants to kiss a stranger and ends up picking Tristan before she realizes he is someone she has known for years. They were well matched and it was fun seeing them reconnect and how their relationship developed. This was a nicely paced and engaging and a great addition to the series.

Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
