Very unique story line. I have never read anything like this before. At first I found the story line a little hard to follow but everything starts to make sense around chapter three. I really enjoyed the book even though it is not typical to what I normally read. After finishing the book I passed it on to a friend of mine who completely devoured the book in one sitting.

There are so many things going on in this books. It follows many different characters that are all associated with a company that has developed cutting edge holographic technology in the home entertainment industry. The partners are in disagreement about whether or not to venture into the adult entertainment business. There is a lot more going on but I can't figure out a way to summarize without adding spoilers. There is stalker like obsession, brain washing, lust, love, betrayal, and the list could go on and on. I love how the author was able to pack so much into the story line and not have the book end up being about a zillion pages long. I look forward to reading next installment.

So, someone invents a way of creating truly 3-dimensional holographic television. While part of the company is creating holograms of classic tv from I Love Lucy to Seinfeld, a secret part of the company is working on creating 3-D pornography. Corporate infighting leads to murder plots and other intrigues. The plot is better than average for a sexy book, and the sex is more graphic than in a normal book. So if you're looking for a sci-fi book, the sex might turn you off. If you're looking for an erotic novel, the plot might get in your way. If you like something in the middle, this is it.

Hologram was one of the best books I have read in a long time. I looked forward to picking up the book and continuing where I left off!

It will captivate you from the first page. Fast moving, twists and turns, good and evil, romance, and characters that are so wonderfully developed that you almost feel like you have become that person! (Even the "bad" characters!)

I eagerly await the sequel. Can't wait to read what happens next!

This story was based on an interesting piece of fictional technology that allows for enhanced holographic entertainment. I can see how one might get really caught up in that experience. Other than Dante and Niles (who were over-the-top), the characters were well developed. My favorite, oddly because he was only a minor awkward character, was Rory. Lots of turns in the story, even if some of them were predictable based on the nature of our antagonists.

A sexy sassy thriller

Great plots, intriguing characters, fascinating twists making the reader engaged and the book difficult to set aside. This one reads like a movie, and it would be a hot hit! Seduction and avarice set the scene for a thriller, mystery, romance and amongst sci-fi, 'the future is here now' teasers. A few editing typos or clunkers but overall very sharp work.

I'm hooked like Sam, wanting more.

Interesting concept of hologram technology spliced into on-demand television. I enjoyed the story. Often it was hard to put down. There were a couple of portions that seemed to drag, but all in all, it was enjoyable. The characters were well done, and elicited emotion from me. Some were easy to like, some easy to loathe. I will definitely check out the next in the series.

Different type of story about a woman who escapes reality by playing virtual games. This seemed like a typical tech story except the woman becomes involved with a psychopath. Then things really get interesting. A pretty good read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. In fact, I nearly finished it in one sitting. I still managed to finish it the same day. The plotting, characterization, and pacing were excellent, and the story required a minimum of suspension of disbelief. The author knows how to ratchet up the suspense, and throws in a couple of plot twists which are plausible but surprising. She creates likable characters (apart from the loathsome ones).

The only factor that disappointed and distracted me was the inadequacy of the proofreading/editing. Some of it was minor, like words obviously missing from sentences. The real problem for me was grammatical, especially the failure to have the modifier agree with the subject. These are two examples out of several instances:

"Fully aroused, lust consumed him.”

“Features frozen with shock and surprise, the color drained from his face.”

This might seem like nitpicking, but an essential aspect of the writer’s craft is attention to details such as these. It’s polishing.

That being said, I enjoyed the book enough to want to continue with the series.

By the way it is interesting to speculate whether Holotech was inspired by Star Trek’s Holodeck.

New Concept

Definitely a unique story line. The first quarter of the book is hard to follow as there is so much going on. Hold on because once the characters all come into play the rest of story reads quickly.

Take one technological husband, one bored wife, add in some creepiness and a whole lot of Ewww and you have Hologram!

I'm really not into much technology. Matter of fact I am very challenged by it ( lol ) after reading this, I think I will just continue to not get it~

Samantha Bowman's husband is a third partner in a company that makes holograms of shows. These holograms bring old shows like 'I Love Lucy' in three D and make it seem like they are in your living room. Her husbands partners, Dante and Nile, on the other hand are two very corrupt business men who are up to no good in all kinds of ways. Then there is Lilly, who Dante was so obsessed with that he almost killed her. This book had me on edge with all the plots going on to get rid of people that I was cringing in certain parts. I was just glad that everything worked out the way it should have.

Creepy, sexy and brimming with cringe-worthy insanity, I know you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was at how incredible this book is!

On the surface, the Bowmans, holographic technology creator Charlie and special education teacher Samantha, are a happily married couple of 23 years. But behind closed doors, Sam escapes into Charlie and his business partners' man-made holographic world of sex. Soon, it's all Sam can think about, and Charlie's unscrupulous business partners Dante and Niles see an opportunity to further their own agenda. Sam becomes obsessed with one actor in particular: Pool Boy. All of her time is spent having faux sex in this faux world. But faux soon turns all too real, and the repercussions will be deadly.

This is a diabolically unsettling read. I honestly didn't expect much from this book, since, despite the rave reviews I read, I judged this book by its cover. I was happily wrong, as this was one sexy, unique and twisted book with characters that made me cringe (*cough* Dante *cough*). I KNOW there are snakes like that out there, but getting inside his head was disturbing, which shows me that Ms. Miller knows what she's doing. Likewise, I couldn't decide how to feel about Sam. I empathized with her wanting out of a dull and loveless marriage, with becoming addicted to something that made her feel young and sexy and desirable again. On the other hand, the woman was whackadoodle!

The secondary storyline is of Lilly, who is a featured dancer for Holotech's x-rated side, and Dante's obsession with her. Dude was CRAY-ZEE! I liked the development of her relationship with Cam and rooted for them. I don't want to give much more information on this book, as I think it's best enjoyed with an open mind and minimal plot details. I'm literally salivating at getting to read the follow up, Hologram: The Provocation of Detective Brooks.

Bottom Line: Get. This. Book. The sex, drugs and deviance is unsettling, and this is one wild read you won't be able to put down. - See more at: http://www.theromancereviews.com/view...

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make great movie, or mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

I thought that the author did a great job of character development, where I came to like Sam and Charlie (the husband and wife main characters of the book), who become victims of (invasive) holographic interactive television in their home. Sam and Charlie fall into a rut that many long time couples fall into.

The book also has an interesting look into how start up companies go about getting preliminary funding (and the strange bedfellows that often come together).

There is a great scene toward the end of the book where the bad guys meet their end --- I'll just say it gets a little confusing to figure out who died with them.

I enjoyed California as a background for this book; it vividly describes the sun on the skin sitting on a boat in Catalina -- other great use of driving on the PCH.

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this story. That was my first mistake. Then I started reading it. That was my second...because once I started I didn't stop.

On the outside, Charlie and his wife Sam are people we all know. But once the story opens up...one thing becomes obvious: You can't trust anyone. That's just ONE of the things that drew me deeper into this book. Another was the great writing on top of the elegant and classy way the images of sex and desire were conveyed as each page progressed.

I recommend this book to EVERYONE. There is no codicil. If you enjoy reading an intriguing, adventurous and love-and-lust-filled story...it's Hologram.

Wow very interesting. The beginning got to me. Very confusing until you get all the characters and there story. The story takes you to the virtual effect of Hallogram. Sam is a teacher and lived her wonderful years with two wonderful boys in college and her husband but she feels she's missing something. Her husband is the wonderful man but is a workaholic of his company Halogram going live with a virtual live technology. He works with two partners Dante and Niles that he can't trust and they want the tech involved with more illegal porno. Amazing story. I loved Cam and Lilly story too. Will recommend. Definitely a unique read.

I received an e-copy of this book from the author via goodreads.com. This is the first book that I have read on an e-reader (Kindle Fire) and it was rather strange for me, which might have affected my rating. From the prologue, I didn't know if I would even like this book. After finishing it, I'm still not sure what genre it is. I don't care for books that have no likable or relatable characters (like Gone Girl, hated it). The author did eventually introduce some, though. As I progressed, I kept thinking, where is this going? The end was totally out of left field. Not at all the direction the reader is being lead to. Bravo!

i should preface this by saying two things:
i won the book in a goodreads giveaway (and i really wanted to like it) and i should have read more reviews that cited fifty shades of grey (not my taste).

it was a page turner, and easy to read. but the characters were more caricatures - too all good or all bad to be real people.

and again, fifty shades is not my genre.
just not enough meat in this (and by that i mean substance...)

This is a strong, well thought out and interesting book. The plot is something our of the ordinary with the creation of holograms for the home and what happens when you can control the holograms. I won't tell you the story because others undoubtedly will do that. It is a book that I had to sit down and keep on reading to see what would happen. A very good read.
