Deliverance

Rate this book
From USA Today bestselling author Kimberly Knight comes a slow burn, friends to lovers, romantic suspense, dark mafia standalone romance that will grip your heart and keep you on the edge of your seat with every twist and turn.

Erin

Deliverance.

"The action of being rescued or set free."

I never thought I would need to be rescued or set free from anything in my life, but that all changed when I took a taxi home after a night out with my friends. But the taxi didn't take me home. It took me to a warehouse filled with women in cages, and I found out that I was the newest captive. I was told I was lucky. I wasn't lucky. This was my karma for flirting with the bouncer at the nightclub when I had a boyfriend waiting for me at home.

Ricardo

Savior.

"A person who saves someone or something (especially a country or cause) from danger, and who is regarded with the veneration of a religious figure."

I was a Navy SEAL, trained to save people. After I was medically discharged, my uncle tricked me and got me involved with the wrong family in New York City when I needed a job. Right away, the king made sure I watched him kill a soldier for falling in love with one of his girls, which meant I couldn’t act on my feelings when I fell in love with Erin. But I knew she sparked my interest at the club for a reason. I needed to save her.

Except, year after year, we were living in a nightmare of sex, lies, and murders because the only way out was to make the king fall, and I knew I had to wait for the perfect moment in time.

Or we would both be dead.

A wonderful story that will hook you from the very start. Think mafia, drugs, human trafficking, sex slaves and so much more. This is page Turner stand alone or... If you have read Lost then this story will give you the opportunity to see what really was going on in that infamous Manhattan penthouse that Frank and Madame Russo ran and give you the whole picture with all the gritty details.

Deliverance is the second book in the Redemption duet by Kimberly Knight. It can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading Lock first. I binged it yesterday and I loved Erin so I was excited that we were going to get her story.

One minute she was at a nightclub being a little flirty with the bouncer and the next she was being kidnapped without knowing it until she got to a warehouse full of women in cages. Days later, she was told she was one of the lucky ones. She would be “making money” in a penthouse on the Upper East Side and teaching the madam’s daughter, Zell.

Ricardo didn’t want this life. He was fine working the door at Lock but now? He was head of security for a brothel. And he knew he couldn’t leave especially when Erin, a woman he only met once but felt a connection to. What he didn’t see coming was it taking many years…

Many years of sex, murders, lies, and a mob boss he wanted dead. The only light in his life was that he got to see her everyday. He vowed to get her and Zell out. Will the moment ever come?

If you read Locked then you will know the answer and I liked that the books overlapped. Seeing the characters and their POVs and what happened after Lock ended. It’s a fantastic duet. It’s full of suspense, heartbreaking moments, and love.

Deliverance touches on so many of my favorite genres that it was a must read for me. It was a joy to read, knowing that in the end I will get the happily ever after I live for. It definitely helped that I had read Lock, an earlier published story that is intwined with Deliverance.

The reader can enjoy a mafia centered story with characters you will love to hate. Some of them will make you cringe. Some of them will have you hoping for the unthinkable.

The dynamics and challenges of a forbidden romance between one of the girls and the head of security had me reading page after page. I didn't think there was a chance that they would both survive. Life and time was against them.

I can never say no to a military romance. Ricardo, the bouncer sucked into a world he didn't want was an American hero. He was a Navy Seal, medically retired after being surviving a shot in the back. He might just be prepared for the mafia, those always stabbing people in the back.

I do love a book that has a few surprises. Deliverance has more than a few. I cried for the victims. I cheered on the ones that survived. I was elated with the unexpected. Deliverance has the perfect ending.

I absolutely love everything I have read by Kimberly Knight thus far and Deliverance did not disappoint. I was kind of worried that I would be lost because I have not read Lock yet, however that was not the case. Deliverance is deliciously twisted and will keep you at the edge of your seat and wanting more. I devoured this book and can't wait to read Lock to see what else is to come from these characters. Highly recommend reading this series, especially if you love dark romance and romantic suspense.

This story has a bit of everything for those readers who want action, drama, what happens next, and of course true love/romance. If you read Lock then you will love this story. Yes it may have triggers for some, but it’s well written and keeps you interested from beginning to end. I also enjoyed seeing what else was going and had my soft spots for Ric and Erin. One I will be recommending others read so make sure it’s on your list.

This book is not an easy one for me to read however that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it. I really did. The topic that it covers is difficult to get your head around but it’s definitely worth the read.

The lure of the forbidden and a romance that seemed to be over before it had even began screamed out from these pages but it only kept me reading. This mafia/military story is unique and definitely one to read!

Erin and Ricardo meet at a club where Ricardo works as a bouncer. Erin was trying to get his number for her friend but Ricardo is more interested in her than her friend. A taxi cab ride leaves Erin stuck in a sex trafficking ring. Ricardo is ex-military stuck working for the mafia. He has to keep his feelings for Erin hidden or they both could end up dead. A good read with all the crime, sex, lies and murder in the plot.

What a ride this book took a reader on. This book starts off with some heavy triggers (for some) and then dives into a great story line with some surprising twists along the way. There is so little which can be said without giving much away and while I really wish I had loved the characters I do feel they were well written and it was easy to come along with their story.

I absolutely loved this book. Wonderful characters and addictive plot. Beautifully written and easy to read.

This is a love story that spans for more than ten years. Ricardo is a former Navy SEAL. Injured in the line of duty, he was discharged from work. He was in a funk for more than a year and his uncle decided to get him a job. Bouncer in the nightclub Lock. Erin is a primary teacher. She has a perfect job, friends and boyfriend. Until one night, she and her colleagues decided for a girls night at the club Lock.

There, she met Ricardo. They instantly had chemistry. At the end of the night, she decided to get home and gotten in the taxi. But taxi driver didn’t take her home. He took her to the warehouse as a newest captive. And so, her nightmare begins. Ricardo was a simple bouncer until one fateful night, he saved his boss. He got promoted. But little did he know, that it be a matter of time before he would be forced to do unthinkable things. I loved friendship between Ricardo and Erin. Despite their circumstances they remained strong. Slowly, over the years they grown feelings towards each other. It was beautiful and tragic.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re a fan of forbidden, forced proximity romance then you’re definitely going to love it.

Love this book. Love Ricardo and Erin’s romance story. This was my first book by this author and gotta say that I love it. Ricardo was originally a Navy Seal. After he got discharged, his uncle got him involved with the wrong family: a Mafia family. The king ended up making Ricardo watch as he (the king) killed a man. This was punishment for Ricardo getting involved with one of the kings girls. This made Ricardo fight his feelings for Erin. Love reading how Ricardo and Erin fell in love. Worth the read.

Fascinating story spanning time, strangers become friends then lovers

At first, Deliverance took me a while to get into. I am not sure if my brain was going through reader's block after consuming 10 novels back to back. However, I liked the blurb and wanted to know what was going to happen. I am so glad I was able to get past the block to enjoy this story!

Erin visits a club one night just to have a night out and let her hair down for once. This night turns into her worse and maybe one of the best nights ever. Erin flirts with the bouncer at the door, so uncharacteristic of her. Then her worst night ever - after leaving the club and gets into a taxi - that never takes her home. She is kidnapped and taken to a warehouse and placed in a cage with other women.

Rick is a retired Navy Seal. He was discharged medically unfit after a tour. While he is recovering - physically and mentally, his uncle tells him about a job for a mafia boss. The job is supposed to be legal -he is a bouncer at the nightclub, but is working with a Boss ever truly legal?

Rick and Erin see each other at the warehouse. While Rick has to pretend he does not know Erin for others to see, he promises her that he will get her out.

Now this story span 10 years with Erin still captive and Rick working for the Boss. However, we see how they become friends and work to get themselves out of the mess. This made for a very interesting and fascinating read!

Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Action-packed, Happily Ever After, Tragic, Twisted, Unpredictable, Wonderful characters

What I admire the most about Kimberly Knight's books is that she writes about hard topics in such a way that important points are made without making the polt overwhelming or gruesome to the readers. And she excels at this with Deliverance, where she tells an intricate story where mafia, military, sex trade, and human trafficking intersect.

Despite the topics lingering in the background, the book is beautiful and captivating. Deliverance is about true love, finding your way, and surviving, even under the harshest circumstances. It's not about perfection but about the possibility of happiness and finding your soul mate while not letting the past define you and coming stronger after a tragedy.

Erin and Rick are phenomenal characters, making it impossible not to root for them and wish for a happy ending. Because they deserve it!

The book intertwines Corinne Micheal's Salvation Society and Kimberly Knight's Lock, a retelling of Rapunzel. And while Deliverance can be read without having read Lock, it certainly makes you want to go back and get the whole story.

Kimberly Knight has done an excellent job of merging two worlds. Her addition to the Salvation Society, a world centered around characters from Corinne Michaels' books, links Cole and Ricardo who are both former Navy SEALS. Their connection begins in a war-torn African Desert, diverges for ten years, and reconnects in Los Angeles, California. The 10 year divergence is when Deliverance takes place.

I distinctly remember Ricardo from Lock, Kimberly Knight's dark retelling of Rapunzel. He was one of my favorite supporting characters along with Erin. These two are finally starring and we finally fid out how they both found themselves as central figures in a brothel run by the Russos, a mafia family. Both Ricardo and Erin's backstories are haunting and heartbreaking. The way in which they each became a member of Madame's household truly speaks to the evil that lives in the world. Their survival instincts, friendship, and patience were key to their freedom.

I enjoyed the way that The author entwined this Erin and Riccardo's story with that of Frankie and Zell's. It was beautiful to see that all four got their Happy Ending. This is a dark and action-packed tale. However, the light that remained at the end was worth enduring that darkness.

I love Kimberly Knight if you ever get the chance to meet her in person you will know she is beautiful inside and out just like her stories. This book will have your heartbreak and put it back together. Erin is in love with her boyfriend and they have an amazing relationship. When it's a traditional night out he decides not to go with her, but that's okay because she's got her girls. When she and the girls get to the club she notices the doorman, Ricardo. A little flirting getting them inside what she doesn't realize is her life is about to change. When she says goodnight to the hunky doorman and gets into a taxi her life will never be the same again. Now she's in a cage trapped and has no idea what is about to happen. Richardo is an ex-Navy Seal who is yummy and I totally loved him. When he takes a job he's about to find out what it means to sell his soul to the devil. He and Erin find themselves in the same situation and as the years go by they don't think they will ever be free. However, one person, one night will change it all. Can these two survive everything they are put through?

It is best to read Lock before reading Deliverance.
Erin was a teacher, looking forward to her summer with her boyfriend in The Hamptons. Ricardo was an ex-Navy SEAL, medically discharged, who started working as a bouncer at a club - a job his uncle had gotten him. When they met outside the club, Erin was inquiring about Ric’s number for her friend, and Ric was definitely into Erin and not her friend. But the end of the school year celebration with her friends quickly turned into a night that would change the course of Erin’s life forever.

Ric saved his boss, Mr. Russo, from a shooter at the club, and it resulted in Ric getting a new position. Ric would run into Erin again, but in the most unlikely of places. He was heartbroken when he saw her.

Ric struggles to find a way to save Erin and himself. When the unthinkable happens, he finally sees an opportunity. Will he be able to save Erin, her friends, and himself?

Again, Kimberly has done a phenomenal job! You won’t be disappointed with this story!

Wow!! Wonderful story!

This book runs in a similar timeline as Lock and is in the same location. This is the story of Erin, Zelle's teacher, at the Penthouse.

Erin is out with her friends one night at a club and briefly meets Ric, who is a bouncer at the club. While leaving on a cab, she's kidnapped and taken to a warehouse to be sold.

Ric, who is an ex Navy Seal after being shot, is taken by his uncle to get job as a bouncer. Little does he know that he just sold his life to the mafia.

Erin is now one of the ladies working at the Penthouse and also teaching Zelle, and Ric becomes the head of security there. He promises her to get her out... but it's not at easy as it seems.

10 years pass... and then the story of Lock intertwines. The ending is wonderful and I'm glad everything worked out for Ric, Erin, and his mother Vicky.

This book does have some dark triggers but is wonderful. I felt sooooo bad for Erin and what she went thru.

This book is definitely a must read!!

I recieved an ARC for my honest review.

Kimberly Knight definitely delivered with Deliverance, and I didn't even start quoting a movie by this same title because I was totally sucked in to Erin's story. She takes a cab home from a club one night, and instead of making it home, she finds herself a new victim in a trafficking ring. Ricardo is a former Navy SEAL, who ends up with a job & boss who thinks the law is just a suggestion, but he's in too deep so it will be tricky to get out. Erin is the spark that has him ready to go rogue when he falls in love with her, but that love is revealed it would lead to his death. I'm telling you that this story kept me on the edge of my seat with heart racing, and a lot of f-bombs dropping as I was so anxious about them being outed since human traffickers are no joke. I'm not going to lie, what happened to Erin is something that I'm always worried will happen to my daughter as it's not that far fetched in this day & age, so my hair was standing on end while reading. Anyway, I've said enough, and it's your turn to experience it for yourselves. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Erin and Ricardo meet on the worst night of her life. She goes to a Club to celebrate the end of the school year and gets abducted after getting into a taxi. Ric knows nothing of what is really going on, but stumbles on the truth a few days later. He then knows he has to protect Erin the only way he can. Both of them have to spend years trying to come up with a plan to get them out of their current situation. Ric knows he has to be careful, or Erin and his mother will pay the price. Frank and Saffron have everyone under their thumb so just running is not an option. I did like how Kimberly Knight didn't just bog us down in the dark. She showed light at the end of the tunnel which was a good thing. Although what happened to Erin was really horrendous, the fact she got Ric out of the deal seemed to help her cope. It was nice to see how they developed a friendship and feelings. Yes, there were moments of dark, but enough of a foundation of their friendship and love to overcome them.

Retired Seal and the woman he saves

Ricardo was injured in Somalia. He received a purple heart medal and a medical discharge. While at home, living with his Mom, his uncle got him a job as a bouncer in a club. Working for Frank Russo. He never realized how this job would change his life. Erin came to the club with her friends for a night out. Never realizing that when she got into the taxi to go home that she would be taken and put in a cage with forty plus girls in cages.
Both of their lives changed for the next ten years.
Frank's sister-in-law ran the brothel. Erin was a teacher, so she had her teach her daughter, Zell.
Many ups and downs, but Ric never gave up trying to figure out a way to get them out of this life. Both were in too deep. Plus, how were they going to be able to escape.
Ten long years, when a strange thing happens to save them all. A must-read for anyone that likes suspense and loves two strong characters that don't give up.
Great job to Kimberly Knight

What a wonderful, action packed story. erin is happy, has a wonderful life and one night she goes out with her girlfriends at a club where she meets Ricardo the bouncer. He is an ex navy seal who was medically discharged and found work through his uncle at this club. Little did he know that he was working for the mafia and that they owned him! Erin flirts her way into the club with her girls and has a fun night, until she leaves and takes a taxi home. However, she never reaches home and her dramatic journey starts to unfold along with Ricardo's. The story will keep you on the edge of your seat while you want to go and help Erin in her predicament. Loved the story and characters and I volunteered to review this story.

Erin is a teacher who is out for a night with friends. She leaves the club to catch a taxi home, but instead she is taken to a warehouse where women are caged. She has been kidnapped and is about to be trafficked. She is forced into prostitution in a posh penthouse.

Ric's uncle arranges for him to get a job as a bouncer at a club after he left the SEALs after being shot. He catches his new boss's eye after saving him from a shooting. He is promoted and discovers he is now head of security at the Penthouse. He had seen Erin at the club and been attracted to her, and he is horrified to find her at the Penthouse. He wants to rescue her, but what can he do?

This is a part of the Salvation Society series, which, right there, tells you you’re in for one heck of a read. This was another new to me author, and let me tell you, I was completely engrossed from the beginning. Finished in one day. The events that these two people, Ricardo & Erin, went through, how they snowballed from seemingly innocent events to oh-my-gosh-for-real?! and the timeline was just crazy. I couldn’t put it down because I needed to find out that they were going to be able to get through this, and how they were going to escape their predicament. Intriguing and exciting. Loved it!!

A twisted romance tale

Erin, a teacher at a private school, goes out to a club the last Friday of school and asks Ric, bouncer and former Navy SEAL, for his number for one of her friends. As the story progresses danger strikes, luck falls through, and tragedy may call them both from the future. Kimberly Knight has offered a twisted romance tale to her readers in Deliverance. I absolutely loved this book and will check out some of the other Salvation Society books.

I read this book with my Kindle Unlimited subscription and I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

What I liked about this is that it’s essentially a companion story to Lock. They run concurrently to each other but it’s what’s happening to other people. I really liked that it explains how they got where they are, and come into the picture in the other book. For me, I enjoy getting a different perspective of these kinds of stories. There was a lot of suspense about what would happen next, and how would they handle a situation. Even if you haven’t read Lock, you’ll still enjoy the book, and probably want to read that one to find out the other perspectives.

This was a great story from start to finish. Erin had gone out with friends one night and never made it back home. She was kidnapped and was being used for human trafficking. Ricardo was an unwilling participant in the business. They both ended up at a place where some of the girls lived and worked. He and Erin strike up a friendship and both want more. Their journey was full of angst and sadness but worth the read. I enjoyed seeing others from a previous book from this author.

Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
