Luna

Am I a major disappointment to everyone around me? Probably, but I accepted my fate a long time ago. I’m not like my sister. The perfect ballerina. The one who got the perfect grades, made the perfect connections and married the perfect man. I want a different life. I want to be me or at least have the freedom to find out who that is. All I know is that I don’t want to be a cut and paste of my parents.I want passion.I want adventure.I want to feel alive.

Jack

Coming up on a year of being divorced I need to get my shit together and figure out my life. Even though I’m too old to be starting over. I guess the best place to start is with my business, O’Connell’s Classic Customs. Cars I know. It’s everything else I struggle to get right and doing the right thing is made even harder when Luna Adamovich walks right into my garage like she owns the place.

Theo

When my lawyer said he had a way to get me out of prison on early parole I thought he was full of shit, but he proved me wrong. He helped me get a new job, a job I actually like, working on cars and a parole board approved place to stay. All I have to do is make it a year on the outside. Then, I am a relatively free man. Well, as free as one can be after leaving the barbed trimmed walls of the corrupt American justice system. My sights are set on that one singular goal and that goal alone until I walk into the auto shop and meet the bookkeeper.

I will be the first one to tell you I do not gravitate towards Why Choose/Love Triangles because as a serial monogamous I’m a one man kinda girl, but please tell me why I was lusting over this book?

The Hundred Little Ways by EJ Heater is the second book in the interconnected standalone series called the New England Bookkeepers Series. This book is vastly different with different tropes but still stays in the dark romance realm with touches of some taboo elements. This book follows Luna, who is a bookkeeper for the Jones Financial Group. She is a free spirt who lives life freely in her converted bus until her job takes her to New Hampshire where she is to help a business move out of the dinosaur ages into the the 21st digital century. But her time in New Hampshire is filled with both business and pleasure when she crosses the line with her client and her client’s employee. This free spirit doesn’t want to choose between the two until one day she is forced to. So who will she choose? The Ex Con or her client who is 25 years older than her?

📚 Book Tropes
- Why Choose
- Love Triangle
- Silver Fox x Bad Boy x Good Girl
- Virgin Heroine
- Forced Proximity
- Age Gap
- Workplace Romance
- Dark Romance and Taboo Elements

💭 My Thoughts: OMG EJ Heater did it again. She produced another 5 star banger! As someone who does not gravitate to a why choose book, this one was executed beautifully. Very quickly this why choose on Luna’s part turned into a very messy love triangle. I guess that is what happens when you are sleeping with your client and his ex con employee. It’s bound to get messy. But I live for a mess.

From the start, I loved Luna! This girl is such a free spirit. She has a strong personality and I loved how she put these men in their place. Not to mention how she took control of her own sexual exploration. Very quickly I realized one of these men was starting to manipulate a young girl and use her sexual exploration against her. This is where the real drama started! I am someone who loves a good suspenseful romance and the last 30% had me asking what’s next! At the end of the day, I am so glad Luna got her HEA and found a life that she never knew she wanted!

I can NOT wait for the next book. I already know who the next MMC will be and it makes me super excited to see how this series continues to unfold! So if you are looking for a new book series to binge, I highly recommend that you add this one to your TBR!

*I would like to say thank you to EJ Heater for the opportunity to be a beta reader The Hundred Little Ways. I loved the first book so much that this was a given since I was begging her for more of my favorite sexy bookkeepers! In exchange for beta reading this book, these are my own honest thoughts, opinions and review!

“ Honestly, I’m not mad at Jack anymore for what he did. I’m not mad at Theo for walking out and leaving. I’m mad at myself.”

* Wow, just wow. I absolutely loved this story. It was so intense in so many ways. And I couldn’t have been happier with the end result.

* Luna the FMC is just living and loving her life. Until her new job assignment takes her to Portsmouth, NH. Where’s she meets 2 men who change her life forever. She is such a badass and I couldn’t have asked for her to be written better. Then there’s Theo and Jack. Theo, we all should want a man like him. And the way he calls her amor. 🔥 And Jack? I won’t say much about him, you’ll have to find that out for yourself.

* This is book 2 in the New England Bookkeepers Series. I honestly can’t wait for more to come. I am now a EJ Heater fan forever. I absolutely recommend this and it’s prior book! Just fantastic!

I suggest you run not walk to get this book!!! I pretty much went into the book blind, yes i’d read the first New England Bookkeepers book but nothing prepared me!! Oh contents warning which i took a tiny glimpse at, they’re just a green flag that lets me know i’ll love a book and i loved this book but holy cow did i feel emotions that i never feel, people call me heartless for a reason but my heart ached, my stomach was doing somersaults, my nerves, well they’re pretty much fried. I was gasping, swearing and pacing so much my dogs though lt i had a genuine problem and i did!!!

I was like Luna, she’s cool, wants to travel and have experiences and she’s also fiery….awesome. She meets two ridiculously handsome men, both seem amazing and so the nerves, the churning and the putting the book down as i can’t go on because how do you choose and then BAM!!!! My head is in a spin, my nerves are shot to death and all i can think is WTF!!!!!!

Jack or Theo, Jack or Theo, that’s all i was thinking at the beginning, Jack is more age appropriate for me to be thinking about, but he’s obviously having a midlife crisis wanting a 21 yr old..typical. Theo with his calm cool demeanour and absolute filthy mouth, little young but we can work with it. Literally my thought process at the beginning of the book. Then I continued and i was like no, no, no, i was just not prepared for what unraveled!! I nearly went to the end of the book to see what happened so i could calm my emotions, i didn’t but nearly.

Loved this, even though i’m still trying to put myself back in check. I know there’s not much information about the book in the 3 paragraphs i wrote but don’t want to spoil it and if i went on this emotional rollercoaster, then so can you, enjoy 😉 x

5 stars again for EJ Heater in book 2 of the New England Bookkeepers!

Luna, you badass carefree bitch you. I loved her character from the first couple pages! She is a carefree spirit, living her best life and taking control of her destiny after escaping the controlling life of her Ukranian parents. I love this for her. I typically do like the small and gentle FMC and the tough protective MMC but her taking charge of her love triangle and sexual awakening was actually so powerful.
As the book goes on, you learn about theo and jack, and she does become a bit more of that vulnerable girl who needs her man and I was strongly pulled in after this.

I'm not going to dive into Theo & Jack too much, because I don't want to release any spoilers - but one turns out to be ... Not what you'd think
The suspense in the last 30-40 percent of the book had me on the edge of my seat, and I didn't want to put my kindle down. I love me some action and suspense with my spice!

I cannot wait for the opportunity to read the rest of the books in this series!
Thank you to the author, EJ Heater for the ARC and allowing me to read this amazing novel in exchange for my honest review.

Omg!! EJ I really didn’t think you’d be able to top Matteo but damn girl! I fell in love with Luna right away, I loved her personality and her sass! She definitely isn’t afraid to voice her sass and tell you how it is! I absolutely loved Theo and his reaction to tell Luna she is always safe with him, I loved that for her. And ugghhhh Jack with his pet names and knowing the right words to make Luna weak. Also can we talk about how I LOVED the found family aspect for Theo! And the boys club/poker nights, definitely my fav!

Talk about a book that I couldn’t put down! I absolutely cannot wait for book 3!! So excited for Cooper!!

Love triangle, manipulation/ abusiveness, spice (to the point of blushing while reading 🌶️) literally all of the things to keep you wanting more. I devoured this book— couldn’t put it down and kept wanting more.

I loved Luna’s character, she is such a free spirit and completely confident in herself— even with being inexperienced. She wanted to explore her sexuality and damn did she do just that! You could feel the internal struggle when she gets involved with both Jack and Theo. Speaking of Theo… 🥵 His character is everything. The way he speaks to Luna, how he treats her, protects her, worships her… my god 🙌🏼

Definitely add this one to the TBR if you love age gap romance, love triangle/ why choose, work place romance, Virgin FMC, & SPICE.

*Thank you EJ for the opportunity to read this book early and for my honest opinion and review. Loved it no question and highly recommend 👏🏼

What a wild ride this book took me on! Luna's story has a lot to unpack! Theo and Jack bring this book alive with their own stories that weave together so perfectly with Luna. The thriller and suspense of the plot kept me on my toes until the very end. This second book in the series intertwined with the characters from the first book in such an amazing way, this friend /family group of people care so deeply for one another. A very well written book that is the perfect place to lose yourself in.

This book has everything you need for a good book. The characters are amazing, the storyline is very entertaining and the plot is excellent. It's a story of a young bookkeeper, Luna who found love in 2 men but sharing her was not a choice. Jealousy and rage leads to a whole new obsession and Luna had to make the right choice. Beware of the TW in this book.

I was blessed with the opportunity to read The Hundred Little Ways and I was so excited to jump into this book, even though ‘why choose’ and ‘love triangles’ aren’t typically my choice of book tropes. However, EJ Heater did it again with this book and had been devouring it up, all within a day's work. What an emotional rollercoaster ride this book took me on, starting with Luna's story, which was a lot to unpack within itself! It’s pretty given with a love triangle story, that things were bound to get messy, and messy they did get when the two men you're sleeping with are none other than your client and his ex-con employee.

I love how being a virgin didn’t bother Luna, how it would most. She used it to her advantage all her life and she knew when she was ready. Between the two men that showed interest in her, you could tell which one took control and used her own sexual exploration to their advantage, manipulating and abusing her. That's when things really picked up and got suspenseful and interesting. I felt like the second half of the book I just flew through. In the end, I was happy the love triangle dissolved and Luna ended up in a monogamous relationship, discovering a life that she never knew she wanted and having her HEA.

When I tell you that this is a whole rollercoaster ride, I totally mean it! I kept switching teams on who I liked better for her! I will not give spoilers but dang that was a tear jerker for a little bit! The ending was well put together and I loved the entire book. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I totally would!!! The spice level was perfect as well. Wasn’t too much or not enough. I was living on the edge of my seat until I finished the book. So many plot twists!!!

This book held my interest more than Heaters 1st book The Choice Is Yours. Somethings just struck me differently.
I went from liking Jack, to not liking him, to all in all hating him. He deserves what he gets in the end. All his ex’s now can rest.

I was impressed how Luna went from being a virgin to this what seemed well educated sex fen.. A woman who knows what she wants!
Book 2!was steamer then book 1 I felt. Looking forward to Book 3

A question I had was, did Jack Hire Theo because of his prison record? Jack may need help in the future if he kept abusing women. Right!!

Book 3 to release 8/8/2024. Look forward to reading it

The Hundred Little Ways is such a great book! It will take you on a roller coaster of emotions practically the entire time, and will leave you with a HEA. This book made my mouth drop on multiple occasions, I shed a tear or two due to some heavy topics that are listed in the trigger warnings, and made me smile and laugh as I enjoyed the witty banter between characters. I love how she tied in the characters from her first story incredibly well to this book. I am looking forward to her third book in this five book series!

This book is way more intense than I thought it was going to be! The major twist with Jack I did not see coming. I had no idea what to expect going in especially regarding the Love Triangle Trope and was not disappointed at all!

Luna was so incredibly brave, she is kind, and thoughtful. I loved that she could take care of herself and worked hard to do the things that made her happy.

Theo was adorable and so perfect for her! I loved all their times together. He is incredibly protective and loyal to Luna.
And, ugh Daddy Jack you loved him until you didn’t and that’s all I can say on that.

I read this book in basically one sitting because I really wanted to see how everything played out. I loved all of the side characters and the overall story was not what I was expecting so that was an added bonus! This is a must read if you like age gap, love triangle romances with a twist!

Preface
For those of you who thought this was going to be a charming and cute romance about a bookkeeper in New England please proceed with caution. My books are not for the faint of heart. These stories are extremely sexually explicit and/or dark in nature. Please do not feel like you have to continue if spicy dark romance is not your cup of tea.

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Yes! We love a woman just like Luna. A 21 year old woman who is naive and sweet, but don’t get it twisted, Luna knows exactly who she is and will not tolerate being cat called or having cute nicknames being thrown her way. She’s a strong woman. She, played these 2 men like a DAMN FIDDLE 😂😂😂😂 she had them LITERALLY putty in her damn hands.

Jack: 𝙇𝙪𝙣𝙖 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙮. 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙄 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙬 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙛𝙚𝙡𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙄 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣’𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙞𝙩. 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙥 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙬𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙧𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚, 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙.

Jack, the Salt n Peppa Zaddy. I’m a huge fan of the age gap trope. This 25 age gap was so hot. Luna was teetering on the young age scale for me at 21 but Jack at a ripe age of 46 was 🥵🥵🥵🥵. I loved when he referred to himself as Daddy 🤤
Jacks character was so interesting to learn, E.J. Did a fantastic job at depicting him the way she did.

Theo: 𝙈𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙨𝙣’𝙩 𝙖 𝙨𝙡𝙪𝙩. 𝙒𝙚’𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙨𝙚. 𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙪𝙥 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙥𝙧𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮.

Theo, 🤤 my Latino lover. His nickname for Luna was Mi Amor and my heart would actually melt whenever he would call her that. But, that man’s mouth when he was standing tall and ready to go 😉 had me standing at attention 🫡🫡🫡🫡
I loved how protective he was about Luna. He embodies how I love my fictional men when it comes to shelter and safe keeping.

I think the friend/family group EJ created work well when they come together for scenes. I also enjoyed the pacing of the book. While I am no genre or trope expert, I would not call it a why choose. It was more a love triangle gone wrong where neither of these males had any business being involved in the triangle from the start for very different reasons...

I was not totally sold on Theo during parts of his POV talking about why he was fine with Luna also being with Jack. I won't even begin to talk more on Jack but you'll just have to find out by reading.. Part way through, I wanted Luna to end up with neither of them. I did not like Theo's reactions to things early on related to the triangle (I'm trying to be vague without giving major details.) The ending of chapter 56 did make me more a fan of them but the epilogue I was not as much into...I was annoyed more bc of my own things I dislike in books coming up but that doesn't mean it wasn't good for the story or not liked by others.

Overall I did enjoy it and the plot was engaging and chaotic and I wanted to know what was going to happen next. While books are not guides for relationships and kink, and regardless grey characters or not, I dislike when belts are used as cuffs... said this for another review recently and it came up here too. But! I definitely recommend this book and the first in the series. Just check the trigger warnings bc it won't be for everyone.

Thank you to the author for an early copy of this book!! Looking forward to more of the New England Bookkeepers series!

This book had me hooked from the first chapter and I was on the edge of my seat the entire read. The twists, turns, and darkness of this book are really well done.

If you are a fan of dark romance and Ana Huang’s Twisted or Kings of Sin series, then this is the book series for you!

I loved how much we saw of the main characters from book one as well. This series so far has done a great job of building on itself and keeping all the characters relevant, even if they aren’t the main event of the book.

⚠️ Be sure to check the trigger warnings — there are many and this book gets really dark and intense at times. ⚠️

The Hundred Little Ways is book two of The New England Bookkeeper series, a dark romance series.

|| BEFORE YOU READ: THIS BOOK IS NOT A “WHY CHOOSE”||
Idk why you would advertise it as a “why choose” romance trope when it's clearly not, maybe if it was mentioned that it's a love triangle I wouldn't have been this disappointed but “why choose” and love triangle aren't the same thing. Not sure if it was a love triangle either tbh, this book just gave me trauma , and in future I'll think twice before reading a book that's wildly advertised as “why choose”. The book story-wise was good, and I loved Theo ; what I do have a problem with is the label of “why choose” trope you put on it ( yeah that's the hill I'm dying on! )

Well that was a wild ride! I have seen a couple of my girls hyping this book and loved the tropes so I knew I had to dive in. Let me say that EJ did not come to play. This book was so intense and so spicy. Now when I say spicy, I mean at 30% I was sweating from the spice! I’m not into spoilers or giving anything away but I will say just go read it! This is book 2 in The Bookkeeper series and I can’t wait to continue reading!
Please check trigger warnings because there are quite a few very heavy and emotional subjects within this story!

Loved it!!! Did extra cardio while at the gym and reading it with out realizing it just kept on jogging along for 20 minutes so I could end the review there. But the waterfall scene 🔥🔥🔥 also reason enough to read the book .

I love a free spirit FMC and a supportive book boyfriend and Theo was my favorite so understanding but spicy af. This book also made me sob and get all into my feelings which is just top tier.

This book definitely didn't go the way I thought it would. Again I enjoyed it but it just didn't exceed expectations for me.

I liked Luna as an FMC and obviously loved Theo and his mi amor, but I wouldnt trope this as a why choose. It's more love triangle/cheating-ish. A lot of miscarriage triggers and still so much talk of Stella/Seb but they haven't even gotten a book yet.

Overall 4/5 ⭐

READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! If you have any triggers be sure to start there because boy does this book go crazy! What an emotionally devestating rollercoaster that was. My mind was reeling after I consumed this book so quickly. Things go from cute to spicy the crazy but tie nicely together in the end. I definitely found myself crying during some particular defeating scenes, the way EJ writes I really believe she captures the emotional devastation and turmoil that many people face.
Luna is a free spirit working as a bookkeeper but mostly remote until she takes a temporary assignment to help out a autobody shop stuck in the dark ages. Jack the much older silver fox can’t help how much he’s attracted to his bookkeeper and well let’s just say they can’t keep their hands to themselves. However that moment of lust is immediately interrupted by his newly released ex-convict employee Theo. Theo soon understands why Jack can’t keep his hands to himself and also dives head first into this temptation. I would say this book is less why choose and more love triangle and the spice is so so good! This book takes a crazy turn into suspenseful as the book progresses and much like “The Choice is Yours” you’ll be on the edge of your seat!
Again I can’t stress this enough check the trigger warnings before jumping in but if you do choose to read it’s a wild worthwhile ride!

I liked the characters in this story and I don’t know if I really like the love triangle. This story went differently than what I thought. I was definitely intrigued and kept me interested on what was going to happen. Luna spirit on life was something not all of us have and that was great to watch unfold into something she thought she never wanted. Seeing the love triangle unfold and watch how these men fought over her was interesting. Read to find out how it all ends for Luna and if she gets what she’s never thought she wanted in life.

As soon as this book released I had to read it! I can not get enough of the New England Bookkeepers world.
A very accurate reenactment that I had when I met Jack was "Hello, silver fox." There was a instant spark between him and Luna. I absolutely loved the scene where she was changing the tire to her bus and Jack was watching her. There were a few moments when I read Jack's POV and was like "Waaait a minute." He started off good, but then turn a turn the more we got to know him.
Then walked in Theo, ex-con, fresh out of prison, looking hot as sin. I instantly jumped ships and was like "Oh, heeey, Theo." I was team Theo all the way.
I loved seeing Luna step into her sexuality. As someone who was raised in a strict religious home, it was like reading about myself multiple times.
You have to read this book!
I can't wait for the rest of the series!
