Bound by a solemn oath to carry a burden to their graves, three friends hoped that by silencing a horrific secret, things would stay buried in the past. But as they would soon learn, the past was merely a boomerang.

And it was coming back.

Alicia, Brooke, Cathy, and Dana have been best friends since college. The four girls made a pact to always stick together, and they were inseparable, come hell or high water. But unfortunately for them, hell came.

Now, one is dead at her wedding, and realizing they are at fault, the three remaining girls must face the consequences of their deadly mistake. They decide never to speak of the tragedy again, feeling safe no one knows what they have done.

Until they meet Bradley. Little do they know, the man they thought was the answer to their dreams is their worst nightmare. He holds the key to their secret, and he is ready to use it. Like a master puppeteer, he begins to manipulate their lives, setting in motion a series of events that will leave them shattered and, ultimately, breathless.

You may think you’ve heard this story before. You may think you know the outcome.

Think again.

Finished this in one sitting. The chapters were easy to get into, and the premise is interesting. I loved how the characters were introduced in simple patterns.

There were a lot of elements in this book: revenge, betrayal, phobias, deception, and mystery. At times, I found the characters gullible and stupid. I mean, you barely know a person, there are red flags hitting you from both sides, yet you choose to go with this person into secluded areas? Why? Just because he’s hot? His green eyes boring into your soul?

The first 50% was amazing. My curiosity was piqued, and I wanted to know why Bradley was doing what he was doing. But the other half of the book felt convoluted to me. A lot of things were happening, and I wanted a different ending. I wanted the bad guy to win this time—I felt the story was better off going in that direction.

Still, this is a decent read, and I’m pretty sure a lot of readers would dig it.

Mark Jenkins- WOW what did I just read! What an incredible book that I just couldn’t put down- the ending I just didn’t see coming!

Do Unto Others is a book that just keeps on giving. This story follows Alicia, Brooke, Dana and Cathy- exploring the depths of their friendship since college into adulthood. One of the girls meets a deadly end on her wedding day with the other three responsible whom make a pact to never speak of it again, leaving a ripple and distance in their once perfect friendship. Then there is Bradley whom turns their world upside down- the perfect man but all is not as it seems. This story covers phobias, manipulation and takes the concept of trust to whole new levels. The twists in this book just kept on giving. At one stage I really felt I had it all figured out then twist, and another and another which was perfectly put together.

Personally, I loved this book. I really liked the picture relevance in the book, the mention to other authors and how well put together the whole story was.

An easy 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me and a high recommendation for others to read if you havnt already.

While I felt the first half was predictable, I still enjoyed the stories regarding each girl. Then things became a little twisted and there were a few nice surprises throughout the rest of the book. This was my first Mark Jenkins read and I'll definitely read another one!

Mark Jenkins is quickly becoming a dominant presence in the world of psychological thrillers. His debut Novel "With One Stone" blew my mind and was my top read for 2023. Here he steps up with
"Do Unto Others" an intense emotionally charged psychological thriller with a profound ethical lesson, that had me utterly enthralled from beginning to shocking end. The atmospheric geographical locations were so vivid and immersive, I felt like I was right there alongside the characters.
The plot expertly unfolded, revealing complex characters and moral dilemmas that made me question everything. The final chapter was a satisfying gut-punch that will stay with me for a long time. This book deserves every one of the 5 stars and then some - a true must-read for fans of the genre.

“Do Unto Others” by Mark Jenkins, is an absolute thrill ride from start to finish. This gripping novel is packed with unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I’d figured out where it was heading, Jenkins pulls the rug out from under me, delivering a level of suspense that’s almost impossible to predict.

The plot is full of tension and moral dilemmas, with characters who are both complex and unpredictable.
With its relentless pace and constant surprises, Do Unto Others is a rollercoaster of suspense that will leave you thinking long after you’ve turned the last page. It’s the kind of book you can’t put down, and just when you think you’re in the clear, Jenkins delivers one more twist that will leave you saying, “I did not see that coming!” What a ride indeed!

Four friends kept the secret. The alphabetas, Alicia, Brooke, Cathy and Dana. But someone wants revenge. The book is amazing. I was engaged from the first word to the last. This is one of those stories where you keep reading because you have to know what's coming next! From one twist to a little turn it's hard to imagine what could possibly happen now? Definitely one book you HAVE to read!

One thing that stood out for me while checking out this book is that it was really fun to read. I mostly read horror, science fiction and psychological thriller books. They usually are good but not always FUN. This book had the violence of a typical psychological thriller novel, and of course it was at times stressful, but it also had a crazy adventure element that added to its uniqueness and keeps you coming back for more. I mean, there are sharks, spiders, waterfalls…it’s like Indiana Jones on drugs. I absolutely loved it. That’s not even bringing up the twists. My God. I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to call this book boring. Mark Jenkins is truly a unique talent and I can’t wait to read more!

WOW!!!! You did it again!!! Mark Jenkins is a name you will want to remember. His first debut With One Stone was my 2023 Favorite. And NOW 2024, Do Unto Others, will be hard to beat. I don't like reviews that gives anything away about the book. SO let me tell you what I thought it!! I didn't want to put it down. SO many twists and turns and jaw dropping scenes. He puts so much thought into all the little details of this book. I could see the movie in my head. I wanted to take it nice and slow. BUT it was impossible! From the first page he had me hooked. The amount of times my jaw dropped was insane. Just when I knew who done what, I was wrong again and again. Get ready to fall in love with the AlphaBabes and the HOT bad boy Bradley!
Mark Jenkins is an amazing new and fast rising Author. A must read for me!
Grab a drink and snack. And buckle up! This was an awesome ride! I hate it had to end. But all good things must end!

Beautifully Twisted

There are a lot of crazy people in the world… and if you didn’t already know that, after you read Mark Jenkins’ DO UNTO OTHERS you will understand. This book is beautiful for all the right jaw-dropping reasons… suspense - CHECK; gore - CHECK; narcissism - CHECK (well, I think this one actually deserves 3 or 4 CHECKS but you’d have to read it to find out what that means!) At one point I even stopped reading it to message the author and tell him I thought he had crafted the most narcissistic character I’d ever read. His response, “just wait…” He was right! It got even better! DO UNTO OTHERS has engaging characters who are all unique and masterfully crafted by Jenkins; it appeals to the senses; and it has witty dialogue. But what I think makes it most beautiful is the contrast of its setting against its storyline. In a magical way, Jenkins lures you into a sense of security with the beauty of the California backdrop, showcasing its flowers and mountains and lakes which are so alluringly depicted that you forget you’re reading a thriller until… well, you are thrilled. What’s great about this is it’s exactly what the victims feel in the book. Are they falling in love or falling into a trap…? As the reader, did you forget you were reading a Mark Jenkins thriller for a second there, pal? This is no love story even if we’re reading about dinner on the mountain side! It’s all so beautifully twisted and don’t even get me started on the ending… just go get your paws on this book and you can find out for yourself what I mean and thank me later. 5/5!

Do Unto Others is a thought-provoking thriller that dives deep into the complexities of control, manipulation, and the consequences of our choices. Jenkins introduces different female leads, in different sections, this was a good way to lay out the book for the story to come. The character’s journeys are emotional and challenging, they find themselves the happiest they have ever been, only to have that ripped away from them by the one person they love and trust. This is one of those books you want to go into blind and enjoy every twist and turn that is presented. The pacing of Jenkins writing is brisk, the tension is steady, and you will be left thinking long after the final pages are read. There were a few plot points that were slightly predictable but so many more of them were not. If you enjoy a dark, emotionally charged, twisted book, then check out Do Unto Others!

4.25/5

This is the second book of his that I’ve read, and they have both been page turners. There are so many twist and turns that you have no idea which way is left and right because he always keeps you on your toes.

I will say that some parts of it got a little graphic for me, but I was able to pass those and still enjoy the book so much.

If you like Frieda McFadden or Lucinda Berry, you will enjoy these books

Wow. That’s the start of what I have to say. I devoured this in about a days time. In no way shape or form did I expect this ending. This is just one of those good fast-paced thrillers you can count on to make you be like, wtf?? I received an ARC of this and I’m SO grateful but that did not change how I feel about this book at all. If you’re looking for someone Freida-esque, look no further!

Wow! Okay Mark Jenkins...didn’t think you could out do your last book...but you did! Fantastic job!

Mark’s story is a gripping thriller, which kept me deeply engrossed in the story! So much so I had a hard time putting this one down!

The story revolves around Alicia, Brooke, Cathy, and Dana, best friends since college. One of them died and the rest feel they were to blame. When they each meet Bradley, they think he’s the man of their dreams, until they realize he knows their past secret, which they believed was long hidden between them. Bradley is ready to use this secret to manipulate them and by doing so initiates a chain of events that will leave each of them deeply affected.

Mark did an amazing job! In no way was I going to guess that ending, such an unbelievable and sick twist! Kudos Mark on another book well done!

Alarmingly predictable.

Do Unto Others was recommended to me in a psychological thrillers Facebook group, by a handful of people saying this was the best book they’ve ever read and all the twists they didn’t see coming.
After reading this book myself I think this may have been the first book they’ve read of this genre because I knew what was happening/going to happen nearly the entire time.

I have this book two stars for the two small sections I enjoyed, and that may even be too generous of a rating.
The section titled “Alicia and Bradley” (I’m pretty sure that’s how it’s written- it’s the fourth section) and the very ending are the only parts I enjoyed.

Tbh, I should have DNF’d this book after the first girls story, because it did not get any better in the way I was expecting.

This book is hilarious, frustrating, easy to read, incredibly engaging. I wish I could read it for the first time all over again.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Mark Jenkins for allowing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I genuinely enjoyed every second of this book and simply did not want it to end. There were twists and turns that I, personally, did not predict and my jaw was on the ground a vast majority of this book.

Just when I thought I had things all figured out, something else happened that made me question everything!

I'm gonna say this part one more time, I wish I could read this book again for the first time.

Stunning. 10/10. Would recommend to ALL horror lovers!

Do Unto Others
- Mark Jenkins

Trigger Warnings: Violence/Murder, Manipulation, Animal Abuse (no descriptive, very minimal reference)

Do Unto Others by Mark Jenkins is the epitome’ of what I feel the ultimate psychological thriller SHOULD be - an intense, supercharged, emotionally twisted ball of crazy riding on a rollercoaster of plot twists that will give the most seasoned reader whiplash.

Mark includes complex yet relatable characters who are authentic and faced with genuine moral dilemmas. Each character has a back story that is built layer upon layer allowing you, the reader, a chance to build that character in your mind as you read along.

Our story begins with a “flashback” scene where Brooke, Cathy and Dana are making each other a promise that they will take a possibly damning secret to their graves.

Meet best friends Alicia, Brooke, Cathy and Dana - otherwise known as the AlphaBabes. You know, ABCD - alpha and babes. Yeah, I knew you would get it. The girls met in college and over their college careers created many a memory together and agreed to stick together through thick and thin - no matter what. Of course, no one knew that the “through thick and thin” would come so soon and test the bonds of friendship.

On the night of Alicia and Ryan’s wedding, everyone was attending the reception and having a great time. Alicia and Ryan kept their whits about them by toasting to their marriage but enjoyed watching their friends and family celebrate their union. Brooke, Cathy and Dana were all on the dance floor with Gio, Ryan’s friend and the limo driver for the night. Spirits were high and the booze was flowing when the time came for Gio to drive Alicia and Ryan away from the reception. Alicia noticed Gio sway and asked if he was fine and he reassured her he was and the couple was whisked away to begin their life as Mr and Mrs - except the roads were wet and the car was going too fast. A fiery crash that night took the lives of the recently married couple and the limo driver leaving the remaining alphababes to swear each other to secrecy knowing nothing good would come from them going to the authorities after the fact as the role they played in the fiery crash would only result in more heartache by bringing about criminal charges of their own.

Almost a year goes by and one by one each of the remaining alphababes meet the man of their dreams with high hopes they can finally move past the death of Alicia, Ryan and Gio. As each of the girls settle into a familiar relationship routine with their dream guy, they all wonder what it would be like to reconnect with and share their happiness with their friends. As things begin to surface and bring about uneasiness to their relationships, each of the girls tries to piece together what is going on but due to their own past insecurities and phobias, they dismiss what should have been red flags and dive deeper into the relationship devoting themselves even more.

Secrets are revealed, lives are shattered, friendships lost forever and mysteries unearthed - the alphababes will NEVER be whole again.

Get ready to take the craziest ride of your life with Alicia, Brooke, Cathy and Dana in the psychological thriller that your mind has been really craving………but just when you think it’s over, think again. Find out for yourself who gets the last bite of revenge and always keep in mind “Do Unto Others” as you would have them do unto you…….or NOT!!!

As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my review.

Book Review: Do Unto Others by Mark Jenkins

Rating: 3 Stars

I just finished reading Do Unto Others, and it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I ended up giving it three stars, and here's why.

The story revolves around four college friends—Alicia, Brooke, Cathy, and Dana—who made a pact to always support each other. Things take a dark turn when one of them ends up dead on her wedding day, and the three remaining friends realize they share a heavy burden of guilt. They decide to bury the memory of that fateful night and try to move on, but, as they soon discover, the past has a habit of resurfacing in the most unexpected ways.

Enter Bradley, a seemingly charming guy who turns out to be the catalyst for their undoing. He knows their secret and isn't afraid to use it against them. The suspense builds as he manipulates their lives, leading to some gripping moments that kept me turning pages. The twist at the end definitely caught me off guard—so much so that I gave the book a bonus star just for that unexpected turn of events!

However, while the plot had its entertaining moments, I couldn’t shake the feeling that there were some pretty significant plot holes. It felt like the storyline could have benefited from a bit more depth and coherence. I mean, not every book can be a five-star read, right?

Overall, while Do Unto Others had an intriguing premise and some thrilling moments, it left me wanting more in terms of character development and plot consistency. But if you're looking for a light read with some twists and turns, it might still be worth your time!

𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐪𝐚𝐤𝐞. 𝐎𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬, 𝐬𝐡𝐞'𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝.

His sophomore release that follows the award-winning WITH ONE STONE, DO UNTO OTHERS is deftly plotted with a layered and complex storyline that will hold you riveted the entire time. After a tense prologue, I settled in thinking I had an idea of the story's plot as it definitely sounded familiar...a group of college girls swear to be friends for life until one of them dies and the other three are at fault. Surely they will drift apart until the guilt begins gnawing away at them and someone confesses, damning all of the participants, right?

*insert author's evil cackles in the background* Now he clears his throat to say, 𝑯𝒐𝒏𝒆𝒚, 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝑭𝒓𝒆𝒊𝒅𝒂 𝑴𝒄𝑭𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏. 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒂 𝒕𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒕. 𝑺𝒉𝒖𝒕 𝒖𝒑 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅.

I shut up. I read. I was speechless, and then I found my words.

Bradley is the puppet master, targeting each one of the surviving women on someone's orders. How he insinuates himself in each woman's life and gains her trust was masterfully written and will have me forever suspicious of ANYONE who claims to have anything in common with me! I will also think twice about sharing my fears with anyone because I'm not about to have those used against me.

After pausing to take a breath, I wondered who was targeting these women, and when I got to the big reveal, I was in awe at how everything came together to create a truly unique spin on a plot that may sound familiar, but the author made it his own.

I can't wait to see what else he has in store for us, and with only two books, he's already firmly established himself as a thriller writer to watch. So many thanks to the author and his publisher for the early copy. This title will release May 20, 2024.

I'd give this 10 🌟 if I could!!!

"In everything, do unto others as you would have them do unto you." New Testament, Matthew 7:12.

Four close friends, Alicia, Brooke, Cathy, and Dana (the AlphaBabes), have been besties since College. They vowed to always be together, no matter what.

One of them dies at her wedding 👀😱. The other three know this is their fault and they agree never to discuss this horrific tragedy again. No one knows their part in it, so they're safe.... They eventually drift apart and lead their own lives as they each remind each other of this traumatic day.

Enter Bradley, the handsome green-eyed man of ALL their dreams. He knows their secret and is ready to expose them all, one by one, in a cold, calculating, and manipulative way.

Will the girl's be held accountable for their actions?

WTAF did I just read??? This story is gripping and brilliant. The twists and turns were RAMPANT, and I couldn't put it down. I was pulled this way and that, my mind scrambling with conspiracy theories. I could, however, never have envisaged that ending. Ever.

Mark's narrative is descriptive chilling, and built on many layers. The character's are relatable and yet very complex. You'll think you have it all worked out.

You won't.

Thanks Mark, for another brilliant read of yours. I'm looking forward to reading With One Stone and I inhaled So Shall You Reap.

I strongly recommend reading his psychological thrillers, they're a wild ride for sure!
