"Read it" on Audible. This is a recording of a live seminar. Frankly, I was blown away by how good it is! Yes, it is very rah-rah and Americana. Yes, it is a bit dated. But the content and some of the messages were busting my bubble of scepticism. Super impressed. Lots of valuable stuff.

Close in spirit to:
How to Live on 24 Hours a Day
How to Win Friends & Influence People
How to Stop Worrying and Start Living: Time-Tested Methods for Conquering Worry

But it also has a bit of Seth Godin vibe (at least to my ear). See The Song of Significance: A New Manifesto for Teams or The Icarus Deception: How High Will You Fly?

It’s not a written book, it’s an audio from a fantastic, priceless seminar. I can’t believe I get to listen to it on my phone for a few dollars. This is one of those seminars that can quite literally change your life, if you’re ready to pick up its teachings and practice them.

This is one of the VERY best audio books I have ever listened to - for content. I rarely give five stars, but this one gets one from me! Those stars are reserved for absolute TOP resources and this is one of them. I’ve known of and read Jim Rohn for decades as did my father before me. I have always loved his teachings, but this - I have listened to this over 4 times in the last month! The “apple a day” vs the “Hershey bar a day” is so perfect. The law of the harvest section is worth so much and the best way of teaching it that I have come across - so straightforward.

I plan to listen again and again. It is packed with principles we all should know and understand, but rarely live. He gives perfect advice to ponder and follow.

You might need something different, but for me, the timing was perfect and probably always will be since his teachings are timeless and progressive principles you can apply at every level to level-up.

10 Recommendations to Have Your Best Year Ever!
Hi!
I hope you all are well.
Probably you have noticed that I have been missing from here for a while. I don’t want to give excuses, but I had some important things to do and one of them was my exam but details about this later...
I got into an amazing habit. I listen to audiobooks whilst I’m running at the gym. Useful and Productive, isn’t it? Without wanting to it I started to apply Epictetus' philosophy in reading, I listen twice than reading physical books, and I like it.
This month I already finished reading (or better say listening) to two books. Let’s dissect them one by one. How to Have Your Best Year Ever by Jim Rohn was a classic one-day seminar transcribed into an audiobook. He was explaining his life and his life principles and is a must read. Here is what I like the most…
Jim Rohn urged us to take responsibility for our lives. According to him, success starts the moment you take full responsibility for your life. He said, “You cannot change the seasons, but you can change yourself.” What he meant was to stop blaming your circumstances, your boss, or bad luck, and start focusing on what you can control. When you own your results, good or bad, you gain the power to change them. This reminds me very much about “A man’s search for a meaning” by Viktor Frankl, a book witch you must read.
The author suggests to work harder on yourself than you do on your job and it might sense because personal development should come before professional development. He said, “If you want things to get better, you have to get better.” The truth is that success doesn’t come from the hours you work alone it comes from who you become in those hours. When you read, learn and grow your skills, mindset and opportunities expand as well. The better you become, the more value you bring to everything you do including your job.
One practical idea I loved was that goals give direction to your energy. Rohn reminded people that “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” Without clear, written goals, your efforts get dispersed and you lose focus however, when you write them down they become real. Reviewing them regularly keeps your motivation alive and gives you a clear sense of purpose. Your goals act like a compass always guiding you toward the right direction.
The author believed that plans only work when you do. He encouraged people to break big dreams into smaller consistent steps that can be completed daily. Many people have good intentions but never move past the planning stage. The secret is in steady committed action not in perfection. When you stick to your plan, even on tough days you build momentum, confidence and results. Small progress every day always beats waiting for the perfect moment.
Jim Rohn’s philosophy is focused on understanding that both winning and losing teach valuable lessons. He said, “Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.” . Every failure is feedback and every success is a reminder that your effort works. When you reflect honestly you discover patterns of what to repeat and what to avoid. This mindset turns challenges into teachers and keeps you improving with each experience.
Discipline, according to Rohn is the secret ingredient behind every achievement. He called it “the foundation of success.” Discipline means doing what needs to be done even when you don’t feel like it, sticking to routines and keeping promises to yourself. Consistency turns effort into results and transforms ordinary habits into extraordinary results. Over time small and disciplined actions compound into something life-changing.
Another thing that really struck me was that the people in your circle are shaping your future. He said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Your environment affects your thinking, energy and habits. If you surround yourself with positive and ambitious people their mindset rubs off on you. The right circle will challenge you, support you and helps you to grow while the wrong one will quietly hold you back.
One of the most practical tips from the author for personal growth was to keep a journal. He believed that writing helps capture your best ideas, reflections and lessons before they disappear. A journal becomes a personal roadmap. A place to review your progress, understand your mistakes and celebrate successes. It’s not just about writing what happens, but what you learn from what happens as well. Over time it becomes a mirror showing how much you’ve grown.
He also emphasised that success means little if it is not shared. He often said, “Giving starts the receiving process.” The idea is that generosity multiplies your impact and when you help others grow you grow as well. No matter if it’s mentoring someone, offering kindness or giving back to your community, contribution adds meaning to your achievement. True success is not only about what you earn but also about what you return.
Finally, Rohn teaches us that success is not just a destination it’s a journey. He encouraged people to find joy in progress not just in the end goal. When you focus only on results you miss the beauty of becoming better each day. By appreciating small wins, learning from challenges and staying grateful, you make the journey itself fulfilling. After all, the best year ever isn’t built in just one moment it’s built in how you live every day along the way.
I hope these learnings will help you becoming a bit better today and if you liked them please leave me an appreciation and feel free to leave your thoughts/comments.
Should you require any help, shout out. We are all here to help each other.
Wishing you a great day and a great week!
Yours,
Pavel

Classic good old Jim Rohn - one could never have enough of his books, never enough from him as a role model.
REALITY AND PERSISTENCE. Most people will not follow your advice, and that’s a reality that remains constant over time. You can preach 10 years, 30 years - only the faces change, but the statistics on mostly rejections will remain the same. Some people mock, laugh, or lie - not because of you, but because it’s their nature and that’s why they are here on this planet. Accept reality instead of expecting paradise, and focus on those who do listen. Similarly, if you’re broke, it’s easier to blame external forces like the government or your company, but true change starts with your philosophy. Neglecting effort might feel good in the moment (e.g. getting 100% of your salary for 50% of work), but it creates a long-term downfall; your daily actions shape your future. Success is measurable progress over reasonable time, even if the pace seems slow.
LEARNING AND GROWTH. Growth isn’t just for children - it’s for adults, too. How many years do You expect Your kid to be in the fourth grade? :) ONE. As we push kids to move forward in school when they get behind, we should also push ourselves to learn and level up continuously each year. Goals aren’t necessarily about achieving them, but about becoming the person who can achieve them. The greatest value in life isn’t what you get, but what you can become. Ask yourself not “What am I receiving for my efforts?” but “Who am I becoming here?” Surround yourself with people who have high goals - they’ll naturally elevate your expectations of yourself.
REFLECTION AND RESILIENCE. Don’t just get through the day - get from the day. Use every day, week, month, and year as opportunities to reflect and learn from your experiences. Even the difficult times in life - symbolized by winter - should be used to grow wiser and stronger. Embrace the seasons of your life with intention: take advantage of opportunities in the spring, nurture your progress in the summer, and reap the rewards in the fall without complaining. Prepare for challenges, protect what’s yours, and understand that life for everyone will always remain a mix of opportunities and difficulties.
FINANCIAL WISDOM. Teach children the importance of financial responsibility early, emphasizing the value of spending less than they earn. Inspire them with practical lessons, such as driving through neighborhoods that showcase the consequences of overspending. A simple plan of spending 70%, giving 10% to charity, investing 10% in active capital (business, profit), and 10% in passive capital (investments) builds good habits and character. Even if starting with just 1%, the key is to begin with a plan. Don’t say that You’ll make a plan when You have money - but understand that people with money have it because they had a plan. Be grateful when paying taxes or invoices, as they represent the functioning systems and services that support your life.
LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION. Expand Your children’s vocabularies early by introducing a “word of the day” and reinforcing it through conversation. Effective communication requires well-chosen words delivered with measured emotions and a personal touch. When you speak, put more of yourself into what you say, so your words resonate with others. Teach children - and yourself - that persistence in learning is invaluable. How much time should a person spend learning? The same time a baby needs to learn to walk - until we master it! Results come from promising never to give up, no matter how long the journey takes.
PREPAREDNESS AND DETERMINATION. Like ants preparing in the summer for winter, you must think ahead and remain undeterred by obstacles. Just like an ant - if one path gets blocked, they will always find another way, they will never stop. Success comes from persistence and adaptability. A child’s definition of success can be simple yet profound: promising yourself to never give up until you’ve reached your goal. It’s this relentless spirit of preparation and determination that turns dreams into reality. Keep learning, growing, planning, and pushing forward - no matter how challenging the path might be.

What I got from it:
1. The reason we set out goals is not to achieve the thing itself, but rather the prize is the person we get to become in the process of achieving it. For example, the goal of finishing an ironman in itself is not meaningful. However, the personality traits of consistency, grit, and perseverance that come from training for a 10+ hour race are what is to be desired. Choose goals that will make you a better person.

2. If your deficient in one area of your life (ie finances, weight, work) you may think that this is okay. However, each area is interconnected and if you're deficient in one area you're likely to become deficient in others.

3. Success is a numbers game, so be cognizant and truthful about your numbers. For example, if you are a salesman who makes 30 calls a day vs one who makes 10 calls a day, it is more likely that the person who calls more people will bring in more money. If two students are both maximally productive, the student who studies 10 hours a day will likely achieve more than the student who studies 5 hours a day.

4. Most of the wealthy people with grand houses also have a large library. Ensure you read in all areas (ie culture, bit of finance, bit a law, productivity, etc). To be wealthy you need to study wealth (Rohn recommends books such as think and grow rich, the richest man in babylon). Similarly, to be happy you need to study happiness.

5. "Resolve" mean not giving up UNTIL. We don't give up UNTIL the result is achieved. Keep reading, keep trying, keep being creative with your approach UNTIL you get there. How many weeks do parent's give their kids to walk? Parents will keep their kid going UNTIL they do it! We are born with resolve.

6. If you want to increase your salary incrementally, work very hard on your job. If you want to increase your salary exponentially, work harder on yourself than you do your job.

Rohn definitely knows how to make self-development entertaining. If you're starting out with understanding yourself and finding your path in life, I'd definitely give this audiobook to you. There's some great core principles to guide your journey and compared to some other books, it is wholly healthy and wonderful. Putting a person's philosophy at the core is a great practice and he explains it very well.

I read and listened to this book as I had the audio version too and it was very good. Jim Rohn is a great storyteller each anecdote is full of many insights and ideas to,
Indeed, make it the best year ever.

For those of you who are not interested in religion there are a number of references to god. But I don’t think it takes away from the core messages.
