After being forced to work overtime for the umpteenth time in a month, Yukimura Rina drags herself home, exhausted and in need of some relaxation. She downloads an otome game, starts playing, and passes out...only to wake up as Ekaterina, the villainess of the game! Her new reality overwhelms her, but she soon recovers thanks to the care of her handsome, kind, and responsible new big brother, Alexei. There’s one little issue, though. If the game follows its original scenario, only the worst awaits her and her dearest brother!
Rina, or rather, Ekaterina, now has two find a way to avoid doom, and protect her new big brother from the horrors of overwork!
It's your protagonist wakes up in an otome game as the villainess. The main difference is her fave/stan is the villainess' brother. It's more fangirl/bro-con than an incestuous one. Her main motivations are to keep her brother from working himself to death like she did in her previous life. YMMV, it was kind of bland for me. It wasn't very fun, funny, or delve much into the fantasy setting which are what I look for in the isekai genre. It seems like it isn't a romance, though? So I may keep reading.
This is a series I've always wanted to read as it is one of the well-known villainess manga series. Not much happens, but I do adore this brother and sister.
I was a little worried that the brother-sister relationship was going to get weird, but it didn't. Instead, this actually ended up being one of my favourites in the reincarnated villainess subgenre. It's well written and paced, the characters are three dimensional, and the protagonist isn't an idiot just so the author can get some cheap laughs. In the end, wanting to save her brother from working himself into an early grave is as good a motive as any for the villainess to change her ways and try to prevent a terrible future for her family. This also avoids the common trope of 'everyone is in love with the MC', which gets old pretty fast. She's got actual friends and interests instead of a harem.
Overall, I hope this series continues to develop in unique and interesting ways. Shame I'll probably still be waiting for the ending years from now.
