Every boss she’s ever had praised her for her exemplary work ethic. But that all changes when she meets her new supervisor, Jasper Garrison, on his first day at the office. Her casual attire lands her in hot water, earning her a reprimand for violating the company's dress code.

When Jasper Garrison moves to Los Angeles to take on the role of supervisor, he’s intent on proving himself. He believes Alayna has received more favoritism than she deserves, and he decides to rectify the situation.

As tensions simmer between them, the vice president of the company sends Alayna and Jasper to a team-building conference. Forced into close proximity, they grow to admire each other, and their feelings begin to change. They must navigate the fine line between professionalism and the desire for a relationship they can never have.

Evangeline Kelly is the pen name I use to write contemporary Christian romance books. When I was a kid, I had two dreams. One was to work with at risk youth and the other was to write books. After pursuing my passion of working with foster children for over twenty years, I finally decided to pursue my childhood dream of writing.

I love a good book that draws you in and takes hold of your heart. When I write, I hope to show real life situations people go through and how God uses those situations to draw us closer to Himself.

I’ve witnessed suffering in my line of work, but I’ve also witnessed God’s redeeming love. A good Christian romance features both hardship and delight. My hope is that my stories not only entertain, but encourage, and most of all, that they bring glory and honor to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Such a cute read! I truly love how openly Christian this author’s stories are. No one else writes themes of faith in their contemporary stories quite like she does. I think sometimes the titles and covers could be deceiving, but take this Christian reader’s word for it (this was my 11th Kelly in a row)! Super cute, super clean, and filled with a message of faith that still gives you all the heart and romance.

My Unreasonable Boss starts out as a sticky situation. When Alayna goes to work on Monday wearing sweats and a tee when the new boss is showing up, Jasper takes it as being rebellion over losing the other boss. When Jasper and Ethan, the VP talk to her she explains exactly what Ethan has already told Jasper was a thing the previous boss allowed if you were coming into work to pick up something you needed to work from home. They sent an email out Friday and anyone that did not respond to the email received a call from the Executive Secretary to wear your best on Monday. She did not take time to check her emails and didn't get a call as she was working on a new project from home. Jasper decided he would see what would happen if he gave her data entry work, not in her job description, to do all day to punish her. Then day two her job was to work in the warehouse checking every item on the list that was returned to see if they worked or not. Then at he end of the day he wrote her up for wearing the tee and sweats. She was so angry that she couldn't stand it. She sends a rant about Jasper to her friend, but it actually went on the office text message for all her department, Jasper, Ethan, and Will, the President of the company to see. The next morning they were waiting for her to go to the VP's office. They had decided that since Jasper was new he needed to go to the Team Collaborative Symposium for a week in New York to learn better ways of handling employee issues and they were sending her as his partner. They would be going with 2 other employees. The other 2 employees both cancelled so all that went was Jasper and Alayna. Jasper had just moved to California from New York. That allowed him to know of places to go and eat. They decided to apologize for what each other had done and make the best of the classes. Neither knew their life would change forever once they left California.

This was a fun and sweet, Christian office romance. It had me laughing out loud and shaking my head. Alayna and Jasper just can't quite get on the same page. They have several misunderstandings in their non-meet cutes. More like meet disasters. But oh my word, they had me laughing. And feeling bad for Alayna. She's the most dedicated employee and Jasper is her new boss. Then that text. I about died of embarrassment for Alayna, but also couldn't help but laugh. I'm sure we've all had something similar happen to us.

I loved watching these two as they had to figure out working together. And I loved as they came to realize they both were wrong in their initial impressions. Their love story is sweet and left me happy and glad that they could find it in themselves to admit when they made mistakes.

Content: Clean. There is nothing more than a few sweet kisses. This is a Christian fiction novel and the characters did reference the Bible and talked about reading and studying it. They prayed to God asking for guidance and talked about trusting God to lead them.

I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

This starts out a a rom-com when nothing Alayna does goes right. It goes to show that 1st day impressions are usually the wrong ones. The hard working ones are the ones that dig in and try to make a difference. Everyone else schmoozes the boss, because they lack the character and confidence to pull off the work. Jasper plays right into this scenario, and takes all of his not feeling up to the job on Alayna, who wore casual clothes because she was supposed to work from home that day. Of course, this all goes to HR, because nothing ever stays quiet in the workplace. When sent to a seminar to learn how to get along with each other, they find they have more in common, not only in work ethics, but in faith-based values. Every step of the way, these two decide to take the high road. It was hard not to like these two, even though both made some stupid and judgmental moves. I'm glad that once Jasper was reminded of his values, he stepped up and took responsibility. This is a great Christian read and lets us get a grip on how we should really be acting in the workplace.

My Unreasonable Boss

This is such a great story with a strong Christian influence. Alayna Sullivan has worked at Rolland Myers for a long several years. She has learned a lot under her mentor and supervisor but he has resigned from the company and left. Before leaving he promised she would be the one to lead the next project so she has worked all weekend to get a head start on the project. Jasper Garrison felt the need to accept a position at Rolland Myers and leave New York for California. Alayna gives Jasper a horrible first impression when she shows up to work underdressed in sweatpants and a tee shirt intending to pick up her assignments and work from home the remainder of the day. Their meeting leads to a written reprimand which Alayna deems unreasonable. In frustration Alayna sends a text to the entire team and anyone else on the text thread disrespecting Jasper, including their bosses. The punishment was the two of them go to team building conference in New York where they are to learn how to get along. Their story makes for a very entertaining read.

Alayna is a product developer for a chain of stores in LA. She loves her job. When her boss leaves for another job, she and her new boss clash on the first day. Day 2 goes even worse. Jasper is trying to prove himself as the new manager and has heard that the former supervisor treated Alayna with favoritism....not true just water cooler gossip. She earned the projects she was given. The owners decide that Alayna should go to a team building conference that they have already scheduled Jasper and 2 others to go to in NYC. The other 2 co-workers can't go at the last minute so Alayna is "stuck" with going with the "arrogant jerk" by herself. As they work together, they realize how much they have in common. Jasper's father wants him to return to NYC and take over the family business. Jasper refuses because he became a Christian in college and doesn't agree with how Dad runs the business....shortcuts, etc. Very strong Christian theme. Another great book by this author.

When love finds you

How many can give a chuckle, about the one you fell in love with.
Maybe, you didn't dislike him from the beginning, but he wasn't your usual type.
But every time he crossed your path, he was easy to talk to , he was fun to flirt with.
Then, you didn't see him for a while.
Then on a Sunday afternoon, after I'd went to lunch with my " usual I type" ...Charles was older, taller, athletic build and went to.my church.
Well, my flirty friend pulled up, got out of his car and walked and introduced himself to Charles and turned and apologized to me.
I was shocked , Bob was dark headed, under 6,' 2", wasnt s jock and wasn't my religion.
Well, we were married 2 years later, that flirty guy was only flirty with me. He had a quiet fun wit, he was an awesome husband and father. HR passed away st 41.
But that unusual type gifted me with the 5 kids we planned on. And his legacy is 16 grandkids and soon 17 great grand kids.

This delightful story was easy to read and full of fun, crazy moments between Alayna and Jasper. Both wanted to do their best, but they misunderstood each other from the start.
Evangeline Kelly has a sweet, fun, delightful way of writing her stories. She crafts her story with fantastic dialogue and maintains a never-ending tension between the two main characters.
She also weaves God’s truth and love in a gentle and sincere manner. It’s not pushy or in your face.
If you like books with romance, fun moments, a bit of drama, and billionaires who aren’t proud and stuffy, then this is a book for you.
I highly recommend picking up this book for a fun and delightful read that’s easy to follow.

My Unreasonable Boss is a Christian, enemies to more romance. Alayna and Jasper have a rough start to their relationship on his first day as her new boss. They end up being sent to a team building conference so they can learn to communicate better.I was caught up in this story from the very beginning as Alayna had a miserable work day and Jasper could not even get her name correct. I was enchanted as their perceptions started to change as they got to know each other. This well written book shows we all make mistakes but it is possible to build something good out of a bad experience.

Hard lessons

Really struggled to read this nook to begin with. It is Christian, yet how things roll out to begin with are truly hard and both sides could have dealt with things better, given their faith, I thought. Took me ages to be able to continue reading. Made me feel yuk. However, I did eventually persist and it did improve. The both started praying more, making better choices. The whole set up was really hard. I liked how he stood for her and how things were resolved at the end. You'll have to decide for yourself what you think. Was definitely a different read.

When you know you know!

I absolutely loved this book. I’ve ready quote a bit of the forbidden boss trope and must say this was unlike anything I’ve read before. The faith based component was great. The author did an amazing job at showing us versus telling us only that their faith was the central to their lives. I could see this being a series, and I’m here for it. I definitely recommend this book. I look forward to re reading.

Boss

This romance was much closer to real life. His problems with his unsaved parents worked because they loved their son.
The office interaction was much like real life too. A guy who liked to snooze everybody without actually doing much work and the jealous co- worker were again realistic without getting to dramatic.
A pleasure to read something that was more like real life.

3* This got off to a rocky start. I didn’t like the way both MCs acted so poorly in the beginning, especially Alayna. This book has a lot of Bible references as advertised, even more so than other books by this author. I liked it overall, but the dialogue felt stilted and many situations felt unbelievable. There are nice examples of forgiveness and admirable behavior. It sure looks like another book will be coming about some side characters.

He has been given a new job and he wants to prove himself. He is not happy at all the praise she has been given. He dresses her down about what she is wearing and she is unhappy about his attitude. They will be forced together on a team building trip. What will happen? Will they see what they really are? Can a relationship form? How will they deal with it? See how it will go

Alayna loves her job but when her supervisor leaves and a new man takes the job, it is a really bad situation. Jasper turns down a job with his Dad in NYC and comes to LA to take a supervisor job with his old college roommate. When Alayna and Jasper clash in a big way, they are both sent to a convention of improving workplace communication tactics. A sweet romance with fun characters.

From rocky start to smooth finish

I enjoyed this story so much. The characters were so believable, and it was satisfying to walk through a very cringy start through various challenges to a beautiful love story. I love Evangeline Kelly’s quirky sense of humor. I’m anxious to read the sequel: there is a sequel, right?

I enjoyed the premise and the Bible verses and the fact that they prayed about their direction, but struggled with the writing. The conversations weren’t authentic and way too much telegraphing. Nothing was a surprise because we saw it coming a mile away. I have enjoyed Ms. Kelly’s writing before so I won’t give up on them.

Surprising twists

The h is considered one of the top people in her position. Due to a missed communication, she wore sweats to the office the day the new boss started. He disciplined her harshly & both are required to attend a communication class. Their relationship changes & fallout results.

Simple, but wonderful

I always enjoy Evangeline Kelly’s books, but this one I found was very simple but wonderful at the same time. The story just drew you into the relationship of Alayna and Jasper. Their trust in the Lord was apparent in their everyday lives and I found that very encouraging. I couldn’t put it down.

Excellent book. I am not one to give out 5 stars very often but MY UNREASONABLE BOSS warranted a top score. The author did an excellent job of balancing drama and romance and not allowing either to dominate the story. I highly recommend this book.

Integrity vs relationship

I loved the role that integrity and a relationship with God played in this story, and of course, that plays a part in the very clean and enjoyable romance that is the foundation of the book.
