The last thing in the world Seth Farmer needs is a call from the F.B.I. at 5:30 in the morning. He has just changed jobs, lost his third wife, and quit the Florida Bar. Besides that, he's hung over. Hiding out at his mini-farm in rural Gadsden County, Florida is no longer an option.
The F.B.I. wants his help finding Mike Mason, one of Seth's former clients on Death Row. It appears Mason, convicted of three execution-style drug murders, has escaped from a local courthouse and embarked on an unknown agenda. By the time Seth flies to Tampa and works a deal with the government, all hell breaks loose. A federal prosecutor is murdered. Mason is the logical suspect. A mysterious Russian gangster shows up at St. George Island and his agenda is equally uncertain. Mason's wife and daughter are abducted in West Virginia.
As Seth closes in on proof that Mason was framed for the murders, it becomes a race against time and bad guys. A Bahamian witch doctor, a beautiful Amazonian private detective, and the alluring Special Agent Carla Dayne all pitch in to help Seth and Mason, but the odds are long and the Russian and his assassin are always on their heels. Car chases, motorboat pursuits and a show down at Seth's farm wrap up the action. A dramatic and realistic courtroom scene closes the book.
As a former prosecutor, defender, and attorney representing death row inmates, the author's experience and training lend realistic touches to "Lost & Found," but the book is less about lawyers and clients than it is about friendship and redemption. Every once in a while, good guys come out on top.
